Fast. That’s how I like life, especially my two great joys: bikes and women. I’m committed to exclusively riding one, but not the other.
Until April.
A sexy-arse freelance photographer who’s travelled the world, and doesn’t do long walks on the beach or romantic candlelit dinners. She enjoys running with the bulls and food spicy enough to make your hair fall out. If that weren’t enough to get me hard, she rides a mean mother of a motorcycle.
I’ve gotta have a taste of this wildcat.
~Spencer (Jones)
I don’t do fast. Not anymore. I’ve got my career, my independence, and since I fled Spain to come back home I promised myself that I wouldn’t be put second—or third, for that matter—again.
Then I meet pretty boy Spencer.
He’s smooth, oozing the most potent pheromones probably known to modern science, and he’s making a move on me. One kiss was almost enough for my promise to dissolve.
My head says no—my treacherous body screams yes. I’m gonna make Spencer work for it. Make him fight for the chance to have me, because I know that deep down I’m worth it.
~April MacIntyre
*Strike is book three in the Spark series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but continues on with characters from Spark and Spike.
*Recommended for 18+ as it contains very steamy sex with motocross boys *sigh*.
Jennifer Ryder is a bestselling romance author who loves to write about small towns, swoony heroes and strong females who aren’t afraid to fight for what they want.
Born and bred in Canberra, now living on a rural property in New South Wales, Australia, she enjoys the best of city and country. Her loving husband is ever willing to provide inspiration, and her two young cherubs, Jack Russell named Buddy and sheep that don't see fences as barriers, keep life more than interesting.

I must say I was nervous going into another Spark Series book.. Why?? Because I LOVE Aiden Stone!!! How can you not?? But then I was introduced to a character named Spencer. Yep.. Spencer Jones. And boy did my heart start to melt. Don't get me wrong - Aiden is still my main MX man, but Spencer made his way into my heart.
April is a strong women. She is a woman most women will understand. She has been hurt in the past and wants something and someone real. The games she puts Spencer through were great. But what surprised me is that Spencer went along with it. Because he wanted April and would do anything to win her over.
It was great to see the whole gang back. The Stone twins are so cute. Eevie certainly has her hands full there but with the love and support of Aiden they are all going great.
Spencer and April share a journey together that true love stories are made from. It isn't an easy ride to get where they want to be and you will have to read Strike to see if they get there.
I highly recommend this book. Especially if you have read the other books in the series.
Jennifer as an author is getting better with every book. I can't wait to see where she takes us next.
I'll confess right up front that I did not read Spark or Spike before reading Strike. I was assured I didn't need to, and I agree...it wasn't needed. However, I want to read them now, except I got a few little spoilers. My own fault, of course. But I would suggest starting at the beginning, don't pull an Ali! ;)
After a very intriguing (I'd love the details of this Ms. Ryder *ahem*) prologue, we're thrown right into the story of Spencer and April. It starts like a typical boy meets girl story, but neither character is quite typical.
Spencer is a financial consulting, suit wearing, responsible and boring type by day. It's not the life he wants, it's the life he's been guilted into living. His dreams lie in Motocross. His passion is there, it's the life he gets only on limited occasions and it's the only dream he's ever had.
He's also a man whore. The Manwhore of Motocross. Not even a one night stand type of guy..he's more a fuck 'em and kick them out type. No overnighters, no do-overs, no commitments. Not ever.
April knows what it's like to come in second. To not be the prize at the end of the race. Being set aside one too many times has made her live free but keep strong walls on her heart. Problem is, her live life to the fullest attitude comes with a strong sexual appetite and that appetite wants Spencer as the main course.
She doesn't relent easily though. April is the tease of all teasers but upfront about it and with good reason. They way she holds Spencer off is adorable because you understand why she is doing it. It isn't a form of torture, she isn't giving him false promises. The fun loving, independent, dare devil self is petrified to fall too fast and get burned.
There is a ton of cute banter and frisky push and pull from these two. The entire book has a refreshing and fun feel, mixed with some super sexiness. I loved that about it. I also enjoyed that it wasn't full of angst and drama, a great change of pace from the typical New Adult read. I really enjoyed it and look forward to backtracking my ass to the beginning of the series!
Jones had me intrigued from the very first time we met him. He's a player with layers. Learning who Spencer Jones really is was a fantastic story. He's such a misunderstood charmer. His perfect match was our kick ass chick April. She was his key to growing up and learning to live his life how he wanted to and to go after what he truly wanted. They had so fire and passion between them it was intoxicating. A fantastic mix of laughs angst passion and resolution. I did get a little annoyed with Aprils torture of Spencer but it helped him grow. Absolutely love little glimpses of Eevi and Aiden thrown in as well and the introduction of Rocco. I'm really hoping Jennifer will continue this series with Rocco and Billi's stories. If you loved spark and spike you will to love strike.
This was billed as the steamiest entry yet in the Spark series. It is. The pressure builds until it explodes in a fiery torrent of lust and passion...and plenty of bodily fluids. Terrifically drawn characters, a plot laced with sexy humour that races along, and an underlying theme of redemption all adds up to a must read. Strike definitely deserves it's five star rating. Now I can take hot showers again.

If you, like me, are a reader who loves being surprised by characters, I do believe that you will love "Strike". I had no idea, going into this book, that I would fall so hard and fast for Spencer Jones, but Miss Ryder had me so intrigued by this MX rider from the very beginning. He is so different from who I initially thought him to be.
We all know what it is like to only do what other people expect us to do - and how many of us long to break free of them. As in Spencer's case, I do not think that it matters how old you are before you find the courage to spread your wings and try to fulfill your dreams. And I think it really comes across in this author's writing.
April and Spencer’s first meeting is different, interesting, fun, and sexy. I loved it! At first, I felt that April seems to be so carefree and all about having fun, but then I stopped my reading and started to reflect on it...And the more I thought about it, the more determined I became to get beneath the surface of this feisty photographer. No woman, I believe, is that free of a spirit, not in the real world, I mean. There has to be a story behind it, and I immediately wanted to uncover it.
April wanting to keep her relationship to Spencer a secret had me worried quite a bit. You see, I can definitely understand her reasons, but I immediately thought that a happy outcome would not really be realistic. Because these kinds of secrets usually have a way of making themselves known - and always at the worst possible time! Still, I kept hoping for the best and simply enjoyed how these two characters got to know each other better.
As April & Spencer's relationship progresses, I was absolutely convinced that they belong to each other. I really love how April just takes charge and goes after the things she wants. She is feisty, sexy, smart, and funny. Oh, and adorable, too. The fact that she is all those things makes her perfect for Spencer: she shows him what life should be all about, and her supporting him in every way makes him realize that he truly has the strength to go after his dreams. And, in my opinion, he needs a firecracker like April as his woman.
As for Spencer: well, he...is...HAWT! Oh, my goodness! Phew! Like I stated above, I did not believe that I would become so in love with him...But I love his sensitive side...his humour...his dirty thoughts...Oh, and his man-whore past? It is quite easy to understand why he acted that way....He is not perfect, of course, and I actually think that he should insist upon coming clean to Mac in more firm way, but I can understand his reasons for not doing it. The fact that he lets April set the pace of their relationship even though he is saddened by not being upfront about everything, makes him perfect BBF material in my eyes. It is just a joy getting to know him and realizing what a sweet, genuine guy he has become since "Spike". I love being surprised by characters, and Miss Ryder has certainly fulfilled that wish.
The fact that April is making Spencer work really hard to earn her affections? Well, first: poor guy! Second: it gives you some great insight into April's character, and as we learn about her past heartaches, it actually makes sense! Moreover, it teaches Spencer that there is more to a relationship than the sex - at least, there should be - and even though it may seem old-fashioned to some, I really like it. It also builds a lot of anticipation and tension - and, wow, this author really had me squirming in my seat! You can most definitely feel how much Spencer yearns and aches to make April his.
Overall, I really enjoyed this installment in the Spark series. April and Spencer complement each other perfectly. Whereas April is always about taking chances, even risks, Spencer knows when it is time to slow down a bit when necessary – at least, that is how I feel – so there is a great balance in their relationship. There is not a single scene in this book that seems off or over-the-top. The conversations between all the characters are genuine and lifelike - not unrealistic, annoying or stilted - and the pace of the story is smooth - not too fast, not too slow.
Both April and Spencer learn that in order to move forward, it is necessary to let go of the past. And what their love story tells me is this: You have to reach for their dreams, no matter what other people want for you, and even though you will face countless troubles, they are easier to overcome when you are not alone.
My final note before finishing this review will be about the writing. In my opinion, Miss Ryder has a gift: she creates such realistic, honest, and genuine characters. Furthermore, this author incorporates wit into even some pretty heavy situations, and I love how she can make steamy and sexy scenes fun. Her words make me sigh, laugh, cry, and swoon. When I read her books, I never want to get to the last page...and when I do reach "The End", I immediately want to read them again.
There you have it: my honest opinion on why I believe this book deserves five stars. I hope you enjoy Spencer & April's wild love story. And be prepared to have your panties combust once or twice…*wink*
If you have read Spark & Spike you are going to love Strike! This is about Spencer & April. We met Spencer in the 1st two books & it is safe to say he is a ladies man.... Then he meets April. April does what every woman should do, she makes him work for it. Strike has some laugh out loud moments. This is written from both April & Spencer's POV and some of the thoughts coming from Spencer are hilarious! April is a smart girl. She knows what she wants and is determined to settle for nothing less. The only thing standing in her way is her father! April's father Mac is also Spencers motor cross trainer & no one is good enough for his little girl. He has seen Spencer at his worst & does not want him anywhere near April. The antics April & Spencer get up to trying to hide their relationship are hilarious.. I laughed so much in some parts! The sex, or the sex you have when your not having sex is hot. hot, hot.. You will need a fan!!! If you want a steamy, funny and emotional read then I recommend this book for you! I cannot wait to read the next book in this series..
SAM'S REVIEW - 4 Stars
I would like to start by explaining why this was not a five star read for me. April is that reason. I like my book heroines to have attitude and when they make men work for them. Although April did have a lot of sass and a take no shit attitude. I liked that she could also be very sweet and loving around Jones. However, I found her 'we can't tell Daddy' attitude really annoying and I also found her very selfish at times, making me not really care for her character as much as I really wanted to. That was a huge obstacle in the way for me. This woman isn't a little girl anymore, she makes her own choices in life and has achieved some incredible life changing experiences. However, she should have been proud to have Jones/Spencer as her man, over what anyone thought. Their chemistry, his words, his adoration for her, was quite obvious throughout the entire book, yet she kept putting off telling Daddy. I understand the protective Father role, I have seen this in plenty of books, movies and real life situations. But for me, for the independence April has and life experience, I feel that she should have told Daddy dearest to BACK THE HELL OFF a lot sooner, I also feel she should have given Jones a little more credit than she did.
Ok, now I have that rant out of the way, let's get back to what I really loved about this book. In the previous books in the series, Jones always comes across as the arrogant and cocksure son of a bitch. However, in this story, you see Jones as Spencer. The hard working, MX loving, loyal, sexual, funny and sincere guy. I loved him in this book. I think I would have liked him to wear the trousers a little more than April, because he seemed to do everything possible to make her happy and go with whatever she wanted to do. For example, the bedroom antics and scenes, I got mad at her. He is one VERY patient guy and just for him respecting her choices, he deserved a damn medal. He is such a nice guy, yes, he has a history, but doesn't everybody? April made him work HARD, but she should have been putting that effort in too.
I cannot fault Jennifer's writing style. I love the pace and flow, the humour, and the fact that she writes AMAZING male POV'S. The first two in the series were 5* reads for me, but I just didn't feel a good connection with April in this book. I loved the ending! ABSOLUTELY loved the epilogue and was so happy with the outcome of this story.
I CANNOT FREAKING WAIT to read 'Sting' which is going to be Ryan Clark's story! I am buzzing to know more about him and get inside his head! Mmmmmm Sexy Detective... yep! I'll have a whole bag full of that please!!!
4 * BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN * WILL THEY? WON'T THEY? * CHEMISTRY INFUSED * MX * STARS
After that epilogue in Spike, I was lucky enough to have this ARC of Strike here so I could find out more about Jones. The cheeky lady man who tried in the past with Evie and was let down .You had to wonder who the special lady is and what she will bring. As it had to be someone special because he had ladies interested no matter what. So low and behold, I was surprised when we discovered that he had secrets that had been keeping from us . For someone living life as fast and committed to MX it was bit of a surprise.
Spencer Jones lives the MX lifestyle 24 hours/7days a week or I thought but there is another side to him, a world where he is called Spencer and he is a playboy and charmer as well but he is misunderstood. A world where he tries to please his father but can’t as his heart isn’t in it. He needs that push to tell the truth and try and live the life he wants 24/7 days a week.
Enter April McIntyre who has everything he wants. A supportive father and career she can live in 24/7 days a week. She travels the world doing what she loves but something happened to her in Spain and now she come back home to Australia. She wants a fresh start and nothing looking for anything. She gets her thrills from being adrenaline junkie and a man like Jones is further from what she wants.
A chance encounter in a café sets off a journey they don’t expect. What seems a harmless conservation for April is life changing. She is attracted to this guy and for Spencer it just seemed a opportunity to chat up a beautiful woman. However April is not exactly the woman he thinks that she is and he is in for a wild ride.
The author took me on a journey that whilst I was consciously wasn’t expecting , deep down I knew that would happened. They are both confident and I come to see a pattern with Ryder’s books. The hero and heroine go through similar issues and this one no different. They are both confident when they meet each other and in general. However deep they both having a crisis about themselves and they are questioning themselves about everything. We all go through this at some point in a lives and the author handles it beautifully whilst trying to keep up with their antics in the bedroom.
Another great book from the author and I can’t wait for the next book as I’m loving these boys and their ladies. Each of the books have a unique story about finding something that they are missing and growing as a person. I think this is her best to date yet as she managed to tell their story in one book and touch an issue that is prevalent in many young women today. If you have read the previous books to the series or new to this series , I highly recommend you give Strike a go. Its got all the signs of the Spark series books that I loved but taken up a notch for this story.
PS. I want a novella explaining the Ryan and Spencer’s adventures before this book. Imagine the scenes, they are dying for a story!
I've been anxiously awaiting the release of this book and all I can say is that Jennifer Ryder didn't disappoint one bit!!
Flicking to the first chapter was exciting yet at the same time bittersweet. I say bittersweet in the sense that once I started reading this, the third installment in the Spark series, I knew there would only be glimpses into the lives of Aidan and Evie and this prospect made me slightly sad. It took me a few moments longer to wrap my head around the fact that once I ventured into Strike, the focus would shift and be centered solely on Spencer Jones, a supporting character we met very briefly in Strike.
The melancholy quickly disappeared and the excitement set in. I wanted to discover if Spencer Jones really was this overbearing, egotistical womanizer we'd met in Strike or if there was more to him. The good news is that I wasn't disappointed. It would seem there are many, many layers to him and all it took was a very special woman to uncover them!!!! Who would've thought!!!
If you haven't met Spencer, let me introduce you to him. He goes by the name of Jones and is Aidan Stone's team mate. He loves bikes and woman and isn't known to stay with the same woman for long, if ever!!! Then one night that all changes - he meets April.
To say that April is unlike any woman he's ever met is an understatement. She isn't the type of girl Spencer Jones normally hooks up with. She's smart, tough and determined and she's far from easy. She's into adrenalin rushes, spicy food and even rides a bike. But underneath the tough exterior is a fragile heart who has been hurt on numerous occasions. Spencer has finally met his match. Together they unravel each other on an amazing journey of self discovery hoping for an elusive happily ever after. The question is can Spencer commit to April and prove that a leopard can really change their spots? Will April be the one to tame wild womanizing Jones once and for all? To have these and many more questions answered you'll have to get a copy :D
This book covered all the bases an awesome book should!! It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me smile big. It made me cringe at the sheer blatant audacity of some women. It left me with the sudden urge to want to slap the silliness out of a few people on a few occasions. It left me blushing on more then one occasion due to the electricity Spencer and April radiated between them. It made me realize that we should never judge a cover or a person for that matter based on their actions and past if we don't know the whole story. It left me connected on so many levels with both the main characters, almost to the point that I could see myself clearly in both of them, almost like parts of my story were written on the pages in front of me.
But above all else it left me with the ability to let Spencer and April have a little bit of the love I've reserved for Aidan and Evie.
Ty Jennifer for another awe-inspiring book!!! Can't wait for the next one!!!!
I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review, and having read both Spark and Spike I was more than happy to see what Strike, book 3 in the series would have in store.
The book is focused on Jone's the man whore on the MX team. Now I was quite sure that this character would have a hard time changing my opinion of him, as he doesn't really come over as a nice guy to start with in the series, but at the end of book 2 he seemed to be growing up at last.
'Jone's' AKA Spencer Jones, is Aiden's teammate, and he's been doing well this season on the Motocross circuit, and one evening he is sat I a cafe contemplating his lifestyle when he notices a hot young woman sat on her own at a table nearby. After a few hot glances between each other, he goes over to speak to her and introduces himself as Spencer... For once not wanting his MX rep to proceed him.
April, a freelance photographer who is an adrenalin junkie, enjoys running with bulls or jumping out of small air crafts for fun captivates him, and the fact that she drinks beer, and drives off on a Bandit, without fawning all over him make him want to know her better.
April is not without her issues, but she and Spencer had a connection, so she gives him a chance... It's all going quite well until April finds out who Spencer really is.
I am going to leave it there as I don't do spoiler reviews.
But all I can say is Ms Ryder does a great job of weaving a romantic tale of two people who are at that point in their lives when they need to make a change, to grab onto that chance of happiness, the way Ms Ryder has peeled back the layers of each character during the story made me grow to like and root for Spencer as he fights to get his girl.
I loved April, she was a bit broken, but instead of shrinking into her shell she'd headed out into the world to explore, experience and create herself a flourishing career, but even tho she is outwardly is confident her past still gives her those doubts that we all have deep down, so I could relate quite well with her.
I have always found Ms Ryder's books to flow well, you get caught up in the story and I really did not want to put the book down, it held my attention throughout.
I would also like to say that the dedication also touched me, as it struck a chord with me, as I was told something similar as a young girl, I am and always will be a romantic who believes in a HEA... After all I got mine.
I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and also catching up with Aiden and Eevie, and I wonder what Ms Ryder will have in store for us in her next book.
Meet Spencer Jones. If you have read either Spark or Spike you will be familiar with Jones - Aidan's motocross teammate. Quite possibly you are like me and don't like him. He's a bit of a pig really. Well - Forget everything you thought you knew! I judged him before I knew him and got a slap in the face for it! I honestly never thought I could like him, today I eat my words.
And April, the super sassy, strong female MC that has Spencer Jones in a spin. I absolutely adored her from the minute I met her.
The slow build of this relationship between 'the manwhore of motocross' and the ballsy, sassy, yet fragile, April, was so endearing and perfect. They are both trying to step out and forge their own identities, both feeling as though nobody ever really sees them for who they really are. This is a relationship where you make the rules up as you go, trying all the while to be seen for who you really are and not have the whole thing come crashing down. Which is difficult when Jones does not do romance, and April's biggest fear is becoming another notch in anybody's bedpost.
Who knew the manwhore had a conscience. After what I had seen and heard from Jones I did not expect to see this different side to him. I was waiting for the twist, knowing it couldn't stay so good and damn if it didn't crush me into pieces. The depth of these characters and the layers to their personalities had me hooked.
From Crazy redheads and the slew of women in Jones past to April's grizzly bear, disapproving father who doesn't think anybody is good enough for his little girl, especially a womanising motocross rider - these two face many challenges, managing to make it through most.
Jennifer Ryder nailed this book and her characters. The complexities of human nature were portrayed perfectly giving her characters layers and a depth not often seen in todays books. The opposing parts of a person's personality hidden by masks they both wore so well. This book goes to show you can never judge anyone - what you see is not necessarily who they really are.
I have been a huge fan of Jennifer Ryder since she released Spark but this is the best one yet by far and I am one hundred percent in love with both Spencer and April. All I have to say now is - Aidan who?
"Well tell me when you're a definite, because whether you want me or not, April, I am already yours."
We were lucky enough to be asked by Jennifer Ryder if we would review her latest book. And we are so glad we did. Having never read anything of Jennifer’s but wanting to this was the perfect opportunity.
Strike is book 3 in the Spark series, this book can be read as a stand alone.
Spencer Jones is living a double life, one climbing the corporate ladder working for his father, the other a motocross rider at the top of his game. Both worlds so different from the other, his father's disapproval of his riding is holding him back from really achieving what he wants. How do you tell your dad that you don’t want the family business?
With both lives come plenty of women, Spencer is a playboy and everyone knows it. A different woman every night with plenty more lining up to be the next. Can a chance encounter at a cafe change his life? Striking up a conversation with a beautiful women comes easy to Spencer, but he is taken aback when he meets April. Their attraction towards each other is undeniable; you can’t stop something that feels so right.
April McIntyre was living her life to the fullest, working as a photographer has opened her up to some of life's greatest adrenaline adventures. After a lot of bad decisions and a few serious relationships that have broken her, she has closed her heart off to having another relationship and being hurt again. She's not looking for a man and is steering clear from a relationship, should be easy enough, right?
Will April and Spencer be able to put their own fears aside and let each other in? Learn to trust one another with the one thing they weren't looking for but was looking for them?
Congratulations Jennifer we loved this book! It was fun and so hot! We are looking forward to the next book in the series.
Kayla - 5 Stars!!! This book was freaking HOT! I can't wait to go back and read the 2 previous books in this series. Book 1 Spark and Book 2 Spike.
Kristy - 4 Stars, I loved April and Spencer their attraction and chemistry amongst other things was HOT!!! I liked the storyline but did feel as though there was something missing, I can't believe I'm saying this but I think it needed a bit more angst. If you like light hearted books with some steamy chemistry you will definitely enjoy this book.
This was my first book in this series but it can be read as a standalone. When we are introduced to Spencer Jones, he seem to jump off the pages at your. He was everything you wanted in a guy and everything your momma told you to stay away from. I was completely sucked into this book within the first 3 pages until the very end. Of course now I have to go back and read books 1 and 2 in this series.
Spencer Jones is stuck at a day job that he hates but feels loyalty to his father to stay. But at night his is a manwhore who gets what he wants no matter what. Then on the weekends, he live his passion, bike racing and he is one of the best. He lives for the times that he can be on his bike. One chance encounter with a girl will change the entire why he sees life. She will make him realize that there is so much more to see and experience than just the black and white colors that he has been seeing.
April has always been an outgoing adventurous person. She learned the hard way about love but has such a great outlook on what she wants and believes love to be that you can not help but fall in love with her. When she meets a stranger, the desire to give into him is great. But she knows she must protect her heart and get to know this man.
When Spencer and April start to hang out here and there, the attraction is still just as strong as the first time they saw each other if not more so. They continue to grow and learn what is inside each other. Spencer begins to realize that there is more to live than just the next woman he can have in his bed. He wants more; more with April. April realizes that Spencer has stolen her heart but can she give it all to him without risking breaking it?
When their lives cross paths on the professional side, things get tricky for them. They must learn to hide their true feelings. But in the end, appearances are not what they seem. Can Spencer and April admit that they love each other? Will Spencer be able to show to April that she is the one? How will April react when she learns the truth?
No one can replace Aiden. Let’s just say that. The MX boy who originally stole our hearts in first two novels of the Spark series has some stiff competition as STRIKE (#3 Spark) introduces and is the focus of Aiden’s teammate Spencer Jones. You may have a lurking memory of Jones from the previous two novels, but straight off the bat the tables are turned.
We all love an alpha male full of sexiness that makes your panties wet right? Well that’s EXACTLY what you will get. Jennifer is the queen of making such characters in motor-cross that are defined as SEXY and Gods gift to Earth, in the form of orgasms and show much more. Jennifer never disappoints and with Strike it was even HOTTER! April & Spencer are like fire & ice, when meeting. Spencer is immediately hooked by the wit and sass that April displays but has to prove it’s more than a no-strings policy when it comes to April. At this point, I like to say the games begin? But it’s more like the deep inner feelings of the character surface.
I loved that these characters where so confident in their persona’s but had roots of a deep hearts that defined who they were that they both discovered. While questioning choices, pasts and the worth of love the clarity in April is what I related to the most. Feeling such a strong connection to a character is nothing new, we all look for character traits we find in ourselves; however for myself it was a deeper connection I found. There aren’t a lot of books out there that make a young women realise worth in self, in finding love like Jennifer did with Strike. It was such a beautiful read. The pace of the story perfectly fits the narrative that ensues so many emotions and so much heart. I will read anything Jennifer reads, but without a doubt STRIKE is a highly recommended read!
Spencer Jones is known as a great motocross rider, and a manwhore. He is up front with everyone about who he is, and the women in his life know what to expect from him and have no problem lining up for a turn. April MacIntyre is not interested in meaningless sex at this point in her life, and she is never again going to settle for a relationship where she isn't truly loved and respected. April and Spencer meet at a diner one evening without knowing who the other is or how their worlds intersect. While their physical attraction is strong, it appears they have other points of connection as well. April isn't about to jump into any situation, and Spencer realizes that for the first time he wants more of a relationship and is willing to take things slow.
The physical chemistry between Spencer and April is pretty intense. It was great watching Spencer take things at a pace that was much slower than he had ever considered in the past. There were times when I couldn't believe the sexual tension he was operating under while April made sure he was someone she could trust. April is an easy character to relate to and cheer for. She is someone who has found her way to who she is and what she wants the hard way. At this point in her life she understands what she wants and what she is worth and she isn't going to compromise any more. Watching Spencer evolve into someone who wants to be more for himself and someone else was very enjoyable. Obviously there are some challenges as these two make a go of a relationship. Through it all, I was really hoping that they would be able to get things figured out since it was obvious what a great match they could be. I also suspect I would really enjoy one of Spencer's good night kisses. I wouldn't hesitate to read more by this author in the future.

When I started beta reading for Jennifer Ryder I fell in love with the world she created, I'd never read anything about MX boys before and instantly she had me hooked. The world of Aiden & Eevie had me transfixed, Aiden with alpha sexiness and giant heart and Eevie with her strong will and innocence, these characters wove their way into my heart.
Strike, the third novel in the series, focuses on Spencer Jones, Aiden's teammate, he's young, attractive, and definitely enjoying the spoils of motor cross, with women falling at his feet. His life is work, motorcross and plenty of no strings attached nights with available women and it seems to be suiting him, until he meets April.
April, self confessed tomboy, lover of high adrenaline sports, motorbike rider, from the second Spencer lays eyes on her he's hooked. April is direct, funny, confident and stunning, she immediately pushes him to be more, to prove himself worthy of a chance with her.
While these characters are both so outwardly confident, what I adored so much is that they both question themselves, question their professions, their choices, their pasts. I connected so deeply with April, I felt with such painful clarity her questioning herself, if she is enough, because I've struggled with that too, I've asked myself the same question. The more I read, the more I fell in love with her, with her spirit, her tenacity - reading Strike, experiencing it, was freeing in a way few books have been for me.
Ryder paces this story perfectly, it had my attention from the first page to the last lines, without a doubt Strike is Jennifer's best work to date, from the dedication I knew this story was going to be special, my expectations were high and Ryder did not disappoint.
This is book 3 in the Spark Series It can be read as a standalone, but some of the other characters from book one and two are also in this book. I suggest for full enjoyment that you read all of the books. I gave this book 5 stars.
This is April and Spencer's story.
April is a very strong woman, who has been through so much hurt and pain in her life, but rather then shrink back and let it take control of her life she pushes forward. She wants something that is real and that will last in her life. And although she is attracted to Spencer she puts him through a lot. Spencer takes it all, why because he wants April, he wants to prove to her that he will do whatever he has to do. April, gives Spencer a chance but-- Spencer has a few secrets of his own and when they come out will they be a deal breaker for April?
You get to see all of the characters from the other books in this one too, and you will see where they are at and how they are doing. I love being able to read a series that updates you on the characters that you have grown to love.
This is a wonderful series that I highly recommend. I think you will really love it. I so look forward to Jennifer's books.
So this series has progressively gotten better and better. The first two were a bit more angsty and dramatic but still filled with love and lots of steamy moments. This one was a much lighter book but no less well written. I loved getting to know Spencer Jones and seeing that he was way more than the "manwhore of motocross". He was definitely much deeper than that. We got just a glimpse of that in Spike, we saw that he was caring to his teammates. In this book it was brought out more, of course we had some moments when insecurities popped up. Or when old hook ups tried to make him doubt that he could be a good faithful guy. Jennifer knows how to write hot, strong, deep males. Aiden is still one of my faves but Spencer almost took his spot. Now for April where to start, she is definitely the opposite of Eevie. I liked April from the start, she's a strong, smart, beautiful leading character. A woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. Of course like any other person she had some heartache and bumps in the road but that's what just made her stronger. She learned from those and took those into her relationship with Spencer. There was some angst and heartache between April and Spencer but no book would be complete with out that. It wasn't drug out and it was written and dealt with really well. I'm hoping that after Strike that maybe Jennifer writes about Spencer's sister Vicky
I was given an ARC from the lovely Jennifer for honest review and I was glad to have the opportunity as I felt this book spoke to me and I hope it does to many other people as it did for me.
Before I even got to the first chapter Jennifer had me at the dedication about "Being Enough". Not only for a romantic relationship like Strike but any type of relationship in general. Yes this book if full of romance, HOT MX bikers and of course Jones and I will say you certainly will have a girl crush on April, I know already a few people do lol But Strike is more about getting to know someone, building that trust between each other and being enough not only for yourself but also for someone you care about deeply and falling in love with that person. Just being ENOUGH to your family, friends and life will open up so much for you.
Even when life hits you with crossroads and hurdles you gotta keep on pushing through because the dedication says "This is dedicated to those out there who believe they aren't enough. I have something important to say to you: You are enough. Be yourself, never let anyone or anything hold you back, and believe that to someone in the world, you are everything". You will always be enough to family and friends.
If you feel like you are not enough then I think this book is a MUST READ FOR YOU!!!
Oh Spencer. Just when I wanted to dismiss him for all of his man whoring ways he shows that he is so much more. His story is just perfect. So many layers and a depth I was not expecting.
How amazing that one small change, going to a different cafe for dinner, would make the course of his life take such a drastic (and necessary) turn. Meeting April brings a different awareness to Spencer. He is not his normal hit it and quit it self. She doesn’t allow him to. By bringing out his true character she helps him to see how off the path he is, and how much he needs to be honest with himself. No longer is it ok for him to compartmentalize his life. Being honest with his family and his own heart bring about a happiness he never knew he was missing.
Then there is April. She made me a bit crazy. So much confidence, yet so sad. She doesn’t want to trust Spencer with her heart, sure that he will be just like everyone else. Even when he TRIES to put her first she balks.
I’m just as guilty at dismissing Spencer as his Jones persona. I am thrilled to see this different side to him, to watch their friendship grow and become a true love story.
Also love that we got a peek into Aidan and Eevie’s HEA :)
Jennifer Ryder does it again with the third book in her Spark series. They say a leopard can't change its spots. Well duh, it's genetic! But relating to people? Jennifer has taken a player and made him fall in love. We know from Spark and Spike that Jones is a manwhoring douche but his true personality is given a chance to shine in Strike. April has been hurt, partly because she doesn't want to be like her mother, so she makes Spencer (Jones) work hard for her affections. He does and it just makes the connection between them that much stronger.
As Jennifer says in her acknowledgements section at the end of the book, the surface of someone isn't always what's going on. You just don't know the whole of someone on their surface personality alone unless you give them a chance.
April helps Spencer shine as he gains more confidence, to not be pigeon-holed and allowed to just be himself. Of course there are hurdles, (what good book doesn't have them?) and they're mainly in the form of miscommunication and conclusion jumping (certainly not as much fun as base jumping...)
I really can't wait until Sting comes around either to find out what Jennifer has in store for Detective 'Hottie' Ryan.
Great work, Jennifer!! Wonderful story with great characters well told.
First I have to say, I absolutly loved this book! Maybe, just maybe, more than the other two.
I was first excited that we have a character named April, because, hello, that's my name and Aprils are feisty women. So, of course, April is that, I loved her character in the story. She just came out of a relationship that went no where, she had a two timing boyfriend and just was not looking for anyone special at the moment. Then, in a cafe she meets Spencer, a "pretty boy" that from the moment she meets him there is an instant attraction to him. Spencer is very sure of himself and is used to getting any woman ,anytime, but not April, he will have to fight for her.
Spencer or as many know him as "Jones", has a bad boy past that he is trying to get away from. He works with his father at a firm but is happy being a motor-cross rider.
The story is about a budding friendship that turns to more, but there are consequences that maybe both can't handle.
This is a great read and by the way... the sex is too hot to handle! This is a panty dropping read by far!!!! Great job Jennifer!!!
Spencer Jones is a smooth talking ladies’ man. He likes his bikes and women fast. One night is all he ever wants.
That is until he meets the beautiful, independent April. She is a breath of fresh air. She is feisty, funny, and wild. She is something that Spencer wants more of.
April has been through enough crappy relationships. She wants someone who will put her first in their life. The insanely gorgeous, sexy, “pretty boy” has her in knots.
After spending days getting to know each other, their worlds collide in a way neither saw coming. There are a few major obstacles for them to over come.
This book was totally sexy all the way through. The characters had awesome chemistry all the way through. The author sure knows how to get readers all hot and bothered.
This was a great story. I hope we get to see more from these two characters down the road.
April is a independent Photographer and a bit of a adrenaline junky
Spence in a motor cross rider and a Man whore.
When these to meet in a café there are sparks straight away but with April being bitten one to many time she is hard at trusting and makes Spence work for it . I’m not going to go into details on bits of this story line that had me laughing so hard that my kids thought I was Nuts. But what I will say that this book was a truly a beautiful book that had me fighting to put it down. The love that these two share mad this book so enjoyable and the struggles that they go through even more so. I read all of Jennifer’s books in a week cause I just couldn’t put them down and had me wondering why I haven’t come across them before now. I was nice to have a change in series I have read so many MC books and series similar but never read and about motocross LOVED IT. Thank you so much Jennifer Ryder for the hours of reading pleasure
I was given an ARC for an honest review Strike #3 in the Spark series was amazing! I love Jennifer Ryder's characters, they are so real, the chemistry between them is as you'd expect for a team who work and ride together. Jones is a player, a damn hot one. He sees the hottest thing ever and then meets her. I love their first chat and knew I was going to love this story. I've never had a girl crush before however April has changed that for me, how damn cool is this chick? Anyway her life has been not as she wants it and she is going to change things, no jumping in bed with the first gorgeous guy that comes along when she gets back from her adventures. Oh man I can't write anymore because I can't stand spoilers, but know you'll love this instalment of this amazing series. I love it! And Jenn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️bright stars from Victoria
I received an ARC for an honest review. Thank you to the author for giving me the privilege to read it.
The MX boys are Back!!! This story is based on the player Jones. He meets April the outgoing photographer and there's an instant attraction between them. Will he be able to change his ways? You'll just have to read the book and find out.
I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, sexy, heartbreaking. Get ready to be teased a lot in this book. It had some super hot scenes that would make you blush. What do you expect this is the sexy Jones we're talking about!! It also gets your heart racing with the MX racing scenes....The author writes it and makes you feel as if you were actually there watching the race. You also get to see some of our old favourite characters Aidan and Eevie and some new exciting characters. Another great installment in the Spark series.
Well Jones (Spencer) was certainly a surprise, well done Jennifer Ryder and flooring me completely with one hell of a sweet romantic guy.
Jennifer Ryder gives one hell of an amazing read with Strike, everything you think you know about Jones is blown to pieces, he meets April by chance and falls... Falls hard, she teaches him that things worth having are worth putting the work and effort into.
April just wants to love and be loved... She's been burned in the past so any man is going to have to do some leg work, this results in Spencer having the worst case of blue balls in the world, but he'd do anything for us girl even die a slow painful death.
Well done Jennifer Ryder for an engaging, charming, romantic, funny read. Ask thank you for giving us a little more Aidan always a bonus having more Aidan.

I did not think I could like book 3 more than the previous ones. But oh, I was so wrong, Book 3 is my favourite in this series. You've already met Spencer, aka Jones who has a reputation with women. Now meet April, the right match for a guy like him. Having been through her own heartache of a meaningless relationship she doesn't just open her heart to anybody. After they meet she lays down the rules as to how this whole thing is supposed to play out but can't deny her feelings for him any longer. Finally their relationship is at a point were there is no denying their feeling for each other. But somehow Spencer's past as a womanizer catches up with them and threatens to destroy what they fought so hard for. Being together. This is my favourite book in this series and I could not put it down. Thanks Jennifer for a great series.
I love this series. I love this author. I can not CAN NOT get enough of these books and characters. I think this might be my favorite book of the series. From the first page I was hooked. I loved Spencer. That tough bad boy that is hard to catch. April is his perfect counter. I love Ryder's writing style. She really brings her characters to life.
Honestly, I want to gush and tell you every detail of this amazing read. I won't do that though, but I will tell you to read this book. Read this series. While these are different characters for leads, I recommend reading this series in order. Not only are the first two books great, you get some background into this series. So read this book and this series. It's great.
