This is the FOURTH book in the Hellhound Series.
This book contains TWO origin stories.

“The Long Ride to Hell”
Long ago, in a time of War, a great man ruled with an iron fist, that of Vlad the Impaler. His armies vast and his lands growing but it was not at his own hand, it was led by Dorin, The Red Dragon.
Dorin served Castle Bran and his Lord with an unwavering loyalty. His strength absolute and his armor impenetrable, except for one thing, his forbidden love for Vlad.
With war subsiding and a bright future of peace on the horizon, Lady Illona is sent to Castle Bran to bind their nation’s houses as one. As a wedding looms, Dorin finds that his love cannot be contained and it sets a series of events into motion that will seal his fate and that of the legend of Dracula, forever.

“Moriah”
Long before man existed, other beings did, that of the angels of Moriah.
Moriah was a beautiful planet on the outskirts of the Andromeda system and if it was not for war, it would have been a true heaven.
As with all things, every being fights for survival and the angels of Moriah had done just that for all of 200 years. Led by Elohim and that of El, their army of the Helios Guard defended the planets greatest resources, that of water and iron.
Once war ended they found themselves left without purpose. Elohim tries his best to ensure that the angels of Moriah will live forever, but in his desperation has he saved them, or has he doomed them all?

Review of The Hellhound Handbook (Hellhound, #4) by Bestselling Author Rue Volley

Review:
Dorin loves Vlad the Impaler but, won't act upon it, he stays by his lifelong friend's side, no matter what. Now, that's loyalty with a capital "L." But, at what polnt does loyalty become self-loathing insanity?

Dorin has already been through a Living Hell and back before even becoming a hellhound. Try being around the one you LOVE and having to keep it to yourself, then, enter in Lady Illona and OMG the journey of epic proportions truely begins.

I absolutely LOVED this story, it kept me rivited and turning the pages as I invisioned the psychological and thrilling rollercoaster ride of surprising twists and mind blowing turns. If you are a fan of #rueserotics, you do not want to miss this fourth installment.
Well written, picturesque, full of action, and HOT AS HELL!

Review:
Oh SNAP! What a twisted little gem we have here. This is Lucifer's back story, which explores a time when Moriah was rich in life and resources, a story of El and Lucifer in their youth. It is story of self-discovery, first love, full of action-packed sequences, twisted, and demented turns, full of betrayal, lust, lies, anger, and emotional turmoil. Not for the faint of heart!

I LOVE Dark and Fantasical worlds as they often provide possible answers as to why people do what they do. The final twist floored me, as I did not see it coming. That is why I enjoy reading Miss Volley's stories. Well done Miss Volley, well done. I sincerely hope that there will be more Hellhound stories to come! If I could give more stars I would, because these stories are rich in imaginary genious. More to the Hellhound Series that is in the process of being scripted for film!

My review for: The Hellhound Handbook (#4 of HH) by Rue Volley
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Shanna Roberson

One of the things I love so much about reading—and when I say reading what I really mean is devouring whole—Rue Volley’s books, is that getting lost in that world is almost instantaneous. The fourth installment of Hellhound was no exception.

LONG RIDE TO HELL
Starting off with the very tortured but loyal, Red Dragon. Dorin, Vlad’s right hand man, had been madly in love with his King forever. Even though he knows that the king will never return the affection. In Vlad’s eyes, it was a sin. But Dorin’s loyalty is tested when Vlad is to marry a beautiful, but tricky woman named Ilona. Her sorcery will destroy all that Dorin has loved and give him something he has always wanted, but at a price…there is always a price…

I fell madly in love with Dorin in this story. His loyalty never faltered and neither did his love for Vlad even when he became a monster. Rue also dropped a few bombshells on us in this short about another two naughty vamp favorites of mine. That twist was beyond brilliant! Loved it!

MORIAH
In this short, we are taken back into time before Lucifer and his brother El invaded our world. Their own world was dying and war skirting on the edges. Moriah, once a beautiful land of angels, was falling apart slowly. We met a young Lucifer, one that isn’t corrupted by bloodlust or greedy, so different from our Satan. He was in love with a lovely seer, but when betrayals come to light and tragedy strikes, he would have to make the toughest decision of his life…

I was completely pulled into this one. It fascinated me to see the sweet, smart Lucifer before the madness of consuming our flesh had set in. He was very easy to fall in love with. With one hell of a twisty ending, it will leave you speechless and begging for more!

Review: 5 stars
General: I've enjoyed the concept behind the Hellhound series from the beginning. I've always that they were missing just a little something that I could never really put my finger on. This was it! This book was attention grabbing from the very first page (prior to origin story # 1) and on throughout each and every page. This is by far my favorite installation in this series. Please note this book cannot be read properly without the first three in the series or many parts will not make sense.

First, I love the idea of a "handbook" so many people write prequels and short stories to insert needed information. Doing it this way, at the very end, was refreshing and new and a wonderful idea from Rue. It took beloved characters who weren't the most developed, and others that were extremely developed and continued to grow them into some very powerful ones. These origin stories were well paced but oh my gosh I wanted more anymore!

Dorian, my personal series fav, get his origin story in the first "tale" The Long Ride to Hell. It was a wonderful story that was engaging and emotion drawing. It was hard no to feel bad for Dorian as we saw his past essentially run into hell. The descriptions in this one were amazing. By far this short was my favorite part.

“Moriah”, is Lucifers story and I enjoyed every second. It was the traditional tale we see of those who fall. Love, loss and betrayal. Yet this one was original. I can't shed much more light on it without spoilers but Lucifer certainly had me rooting for him by the end of the story and forgetting that he's the evil one.

These two separate short stories delve into a small portion of the past lives of Dorin and Lucifer, two of the characters from the Hellhound series. The Handbook can be read without having read any of the prior installments in the series but you sure would miss out on a great story if you didn’t read the other books! The way the stories were written captivated me. I felt as though I was experiencing the emotions and feelings of these characters, like I was living in the moment. There are no words to describe it fully but I got lost in the story of Dorin and Lucifer. I feel as if I know them better and can understand their actions. Even though these are short stories Rue Volley never lets up in the quality of her writing. How many times can an author really do twists and surprises before it becomes expected, when it’s Rue Volley, the answer is never! The surprises never fail to catch me off guard, which thrills me to no end! I love that if I read one of her books and I predict there is going to be a twist, well it’s never in the way I expect and it always leaves me in stunned reverence of her writing genius. Even if you haven’t read any of the Hellhound series you will want to read this.

SPELLBINDING!
The some of the questions that lingered in your mine since the beginning of this epic series have come to light in this gripping fourth book of the Hellhound series!
In the first part of the book we are taking back to the life of Dorin better known as the Red Dragon. His story was one of loyalty, love and heart break. OMG what a journey through time! I was shocked, at what this dear soul had to endure. Yet he carried himself with grace and honor. Now was there hot sexy scene? Oh yes! Ones that will shake you to your core!
Now the second part shed some light on Lucifer’s past which I have to say intrigued me the most. He was indeed beautiful soul inside and out. Passionate beyond words with a capability to love like no other. However betrayal robbed him of the one chance he had for true love that should have ended in eternal bliss.
MS Volley has captured my heart with this series from the very start. Her words are a gift and blessing. I for one am extremely grateful that she has shared her passion for writing with the world.

This is an awesome read that anyone who has read the other books in this series must read.

From the moment that you start reading there is no putting it down. The stories are amazing, the writing is awesome and the characters will grab you, leaving you needing more.

I want to say so much about this book, but I do not want to ruin it for others. What I can tell you, is that this is a must read, and that you will not be sorry.

Loved it.

Awesome addition to the Hellhound Series. It gives you the back stories of both Dorin and Lucifer. Two separate great stories that give you insight into both of these men and how they became what they are. Fantastic smooth read!
