Cami Avesque is a shy, wannabe journalist, working for the largest newspaper in Ohio. She’s stuck editing classified ads until she lands her big break. That break comes when the only female sports reporter goes on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. For some reason, Cami is chosen to cover The Slam, a rugby team in Colt, Ohio. They have a chance of going all the way to the Rugby League Championship.
Unfortunately, Cami has a poor track record with jocks and going all the way is one of her problems. Because of her past, she hides her assets behind clothes that are a size too large and big glasses that camouflage the sexual sizzle that eats ripped bodies for lunch. Shy, she must remember she’s shy. If only man muscle didn't bring her wild side out to play she might survive a rugby try.
Gorgeous brothers, Van and Joel Stelson, own, manage, and play for The Slam. They see through Cami’s cover up and attack in order to make their goal. Who will be the first to get her in bed? Who will be the first to win her heart?
Remember in rugby… 80 Minutes, 15 Positions, No Protection, Lets Ruck!

★★★ 3 Rugby Stars! ARC provided by the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review
I’m not much for sports except as a fan of tennis and occasionally (European) football and college basketball but I’m as huge a fan of tennis as I am with sports/athlete romance. So, while Kick is all about Rugby players, I’m all for reading hot, muscled, sweaty athletes. Why not?
A journalist waiting for her big break was just handed her huge stepping stone into the industry. A shy woman who’s had terrible experiences in the past when it comes to jocks, athletes and basically any male specimen with muscles. Cami Avesque spends her time editing classified ads when a too good to pass up opportunity was given to her -- be a sports female writer and cover the rugby team in Colt, Ohio, The Slam. Shoot, she has to write about the team which means she has to research and follow them around to get the whole experience. How will that work out for a muscled men sucker such as herself?
Van and Joel Stelson, the brothers who own, manage and play for The Slam. Yes, that team that the shy Cami needs to cover for her newspaper assignment. But these brothers aren’t old or nasty-looking, they are good-looking and way too sexy for Cami’s hidden libido. But what happens when sexy, broody and shy get together?
I have to say, Holly S. Roberts did a fine job writing about rugby. I don’t know a single thing on what the rules are in playing that game but I enjoyed reading the fans and the celebration that happens when it’s rugby season in Colt, Ohio. The support that the fans have for their team, the love they have for their town and athletes, that’s something that I can relate to and appreciate a lot.
And Joel, *sigh* other than the essence of the sport that I felt from the words in this book, this guy is the other reason I didn’t give up on this book. I almost DNF-ed because of how the love triangle happened. I hated Van. He’s obviously a jerk and I can tolerate him but after that morning after? Uh-huh. Super a-hole. But Joel saved it, not just Cami but me from closing the book. He’s a broody guy but kind-hearted and such a perfect balance for Cami’s insecure personality. I love how he makes Cami feel beautiful and encourage her to be confident.
I’m just sad though that it’s a 3-star rating for me, I just feel like there’s too much “wild Cami” monologues that I’m comfortable with and Cami annoyed the heck out of me for the most parts. She’s not all bad, she’s ambitious, strong and she somehow matured in her way of thinking throughout the story but what stuck with me was how she’s like a 14-year old teenage girl who wants pink yesterday and yellow today. Indecisive.
Still a likeable story and if you’re a fan of love triangles and sports romance, I suggest you give this one a shot! I’m only a fan of the latter and even though the love triangle was not to my liking, I enjoyed the “feel” of Kick and well… Joel too.
Stars: 3 stars! Recommended to: Sports romance fans . POV: First person. Female POV. Series: Yes but standalone. Extra Comment: Overall, I liked this. There are just some things that didn’t work for me.
I haven’t read 1 book by Holly Roberts that I haven’t devoured and Kick (Completion Series) is no different. I must say that the Completion Series is my favorite series of hers and she blew me out of the park with this one.
Kick is about 1 girl, 2 Rugby Players who just happen to be brothers, and how their lives will lead to a tangled web that will be hard to find their way out of. When Cami is sent on her very first assignment to investigate and interview The Slam, a rugby playing team, and quickly finds herself surrounded by half naked Rugby playing that hold her weakness, male muscle. Coming from the past she has come from she hates athlete’s and always keeps herself covered and blended in with the background not wanting to relive the torment she went through when she was younger.
Quickly after packing up and living in a new small town of Colt Ohio she is first introduced with 100% male muscle, Van, who quickly steals her breath away and leaves her weak in the knees. Trying to keep is professional and not drool every time she sees him, which turns out to be harder than she thought. His advances, his smirk and sly smile, and all the ripped muscles that have taken over body finally does her in and she become putty in his hand.
Problem is, he’s an jerk….
Joel the grouchy, quiet, and intimating brother gives Cami every indication that he isn’t impressed with her. One walk of shame quickly changes that and Cami is now thrown for a loop when the brother, Joel, is the one who she craves for comfort. The intense one, still ripping with muscles is the one who treats her for more than just a piece and will stop at nothing to show her how truly different he is from his brother. Joel is intense but passionate. Deep down he has a romantic side you won’t see coming but when pushed his asshole side will shine and shine bright.
What happens when Cami finds herself growing feelings for Joel also knowing that she still craves the touch of Van? What happens when the feelings on Joel’s side outweigh everything else and it puts brother against brother? Van the playboy has made a grave mistake and now Cami finds herself stuck between the mad who has had her and the man who wants her for more than just one night. Will Cami be able to complete her assignment? Will Cami’s actions turn brother against brother leaving The Slam knocked out of the championship game because of their clear distaste for each other or will the truth about the feelings between the 3 finally come out leaving Cami with the right brother?
I must say that The Completion Series by Holly S. Roberts, all are stand alones, have been so enjoyable for me and Kick isn’t any different. It’s flirty, fun and down right sexy and Holly threw me into the loop of everything Rugby and has been hooked. Her emotional scenes are spectactular, and her steamy scenes fog my windows. Joel was dark, mysterious and sexy as sin and I wanted to crawl into his body and never leave. Van was your typical Casanova playboy that gave me some twists and turns I never saw coming. Cami was a bright and funny character that needed to find that one special person to break her out of her shell and break the walls of insecurity that surround her.
Holly’s writing style had me addicted from her first book and I never see myself not loving anything she puts out. I must say that I loved Play, Strike and Kick so much that I would LOVE to see these turned into movies. I cannot explain into words what Holly does to me but she leaves me wanting so much more, I cannot wait to see what book is next in this series and what characters she will give me to fall in love with.

Kick hat a LOT that interested me and kept me actively engaged and then some things that bummed me out. I'm gonna start with I didn't like......I felt the middles lost some of the same excitement that was found in the beginning and I felt the end was SO rushed. A couple of parts were kinds of cheese factory and had me rolling my eyes, but all in all, I'm still giving it 4 stars and let me tell ya why...... Struggling writer gets sent on assignment to interview two brothers that play rugby. Girl falls in love, with player and sport. Drama happens, resolution, happy ending. This novel was light, fast and enjoyable read. Cami, was likable(even if annoying at times). She was believable, yet her "transformation" was hookie. She was a girl struggling with her body image and self assurance and I think we can all relate. She had growth during the novel and was able to stand up for herself. Yay! Now, let me tell you what I liked about this book, most people won't get, but I hope they can appreciate, rugby. The author did an unbelievable job depicting the essence of rugby fans, the sport and most importantly the culture. She really captivated the sport and the players and I thought she did an amazing job at this. That being said, if I didn't know anything about rugby, I would still be able to come away with the "gist" of it, simply by the writing. Finally, A TRIANGLE!!!!! Yes!!!!! I'm partial to the love triangle, and I loved the way this one was sorted out. It was super cute. 2 hot rugby players.........need I say more?! The end.
I have to say that after reading Kick by Holly S. Roberts I never knew one thing about the sport of Rugby. Now it's a whole different story because be prepaired to learn it from reading Kick.
Now to my review. The story centers around journalist Cami Avesque who gets her big break from the paper that she works for by being assigned to cover a story about....you got it Rugby. Not just any story but about the biggest Rugby team out there the Slam and the championship. How Cami gets this gig is because the current sports reporter for the paper that she works at is now on temporary disability due to a high risk pregnancy and the job is reasigned to Cami.
Cami is shy and very and hides herself away with wearing glasses and baggie clothes and covering her biggest assets..well you get what I talking about because the books tends to bring up the big goods alot!
After coming to the town of Colt Ohio home of the Slam she meets the two owners of the team brothers Van and Joel Stelson who also play for the team. Van and Joel are completely different, where Van is hot and a total womanizer, Joel is quite and reserved and hot too, and has had to deal with a tragedy that involved him years ago.
While both brothers try to win Cami over, there is only one brother that will be the true winner of her heart and this story. So get ready to read about the Stelson Brothers and learn a little about the game of Rugby!

WOW!! Hot alpha males, brothers and men on a field. Will keep you glued and make you a fan !
Cami is a journalist but she mostly does the copy editing for the classified's section of the newspaper she works at . She hides behind plain, baggy clothes for a personal reason. She also has an obsession with men and their fit hard bodies, but her past has her hiding from all men, and in fact she doesn't have a lot of friends because she keeps to herself.
She finally gets her first break being a journalist, but she is not sure how she will be able to manage to do her job. Her job is to interview the team brother's who is also owners of the National Rugby Football Team. The brothers are looking for publicity to try to get more fans and get more popularity.
When she meets the two brothers there is a lot of sparks, and when it comes to her writing her piece for her newspaper, she gets more then she bargains for.
I enjoyed the first two books in the completion series and couldn't wait for Kick to come out. I love the way Holly writes strong female characters with spunk. As much as I Ioved the men in this book and they are smokin hot, Cami was once again my favorite character in the story. How can you not love someone who thinks like this? "I didn't think I could fake my mental dislike of jocks or my body's lust for them. I could see myself salivating at their muscles with a sneer on my face." I laughed when Cami found her backbone, I got ticked off at both of the brothers and wanted to slap some sense into them and in the end I was in love with them all and didn't want to leave. I just wish there were pictures!!
Hot damn. Holly Roberts can sure put out a panty changing HAWT read kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end. While this read did include the sports theme of Rugby (of which I know nothing about), I just enjoyed the relationship dynamics and story line that hinted at either a menage situation or a love triangle for the first half. Of course you'll have to read this yourself to find out which direction the author went in but overall I'm one happy girl who will definitely be on the look out for a Rugby match if the guys are anything like those depicted in this book. :D
This was yet another wonderful sports story from Holly. She has a knack for getting the feeling of being right there with the action of the game and into the relationship of the characters.
I fell in love with Joel sweetheart but rugged attitude. Him and Cami just clicked. The only problem was her insecurities because they surfaced at the wrong time. In the end she got a backbone and the most romantic proposal to boot...
Now I need to know about the woman that captured her other conquest heart.
You do not have to be a rugby fan to love this book, but there is a very good chance you will become one after you've read it.
I am a big Holly Roberts fan so I expected I'd like Kick. I would never have guessed I would be cheering for The Slam to win. Kick is written in a way where you feel like you're part of the crowd. You can't help but fall for both the Stelson brothers even when you don't want to.
I can't wait to see what's next in The Completion series.
There's the ick factor for me. She slept with both brothers within days, a week in between at most. And supposedly falls in love with both. Van a little since he leaves her after their one-night-stand, and Joel a lot. I just don't see how they made that work into a proposal within what, a month at most? Then the super fast-forward to a 30th anniversary, where they end it with Van asking exactly how Joel had proposed. Ew. Why was that the impression the author wanted us to have? I liked Joel. Even Van turned out ok for the most part in the end. Cami was tough to like. This wasn't a hit for me.
While I know absolutely nothing about Rugby and have never read a sports romance about it before, I really enjoyed this story. The excitement the author put into the characters had me actually wanting to know more. I also found the storyline very entertaining, from the brother aspect to the small town, and the reporter side of things as well. I actually really liked the ending as well, a lot of times I feel these types of stories are a bit rushed at the end, but this one seemed just right. I think readers who love sports romance will devour this book and this whole series.
After every book in this series I don’t think I’ll be able to get over the characters story end. Each book I am more and more involved with the characters lives. Perfect blend of story, love and some laughs!
I have been a fan of Holly S Robert's Completion series since I first got my hands on the first book, Play, so signing up for the Kick blog tour was a no brainer.
And then finding out that Kick was about rugby - happy dance! I am a rugby girl through and through (go the Tahs!!) and in my opinion there are not enough books with it as it's setting!!
Cami gets her big break at the newspaper she works for when she is sent to report on The Slam, a rugby team in Colt, Ohio. Only one problem - she has a thing for "man muscle" especially when it is attached to jocks. How is she going to survive weeks with a rugby team?
I like Cami. She has some definite self esteem issues, is shy, reserved, likes to blend into the background. After learning her history, I could understand why she is the way she is. I can guarantee that I would feel the same way as her!
Van and Joel Stelson, brothers, co-owners and co-captains of The Slam. Man-muscle.
I gotta say, I really think that Van is a bit of a dick! The way he treats Cami, and women in general is not at all attractive. I don't care how good looking you are on the outside, that behaviour just makes you ugly in my eyes. Although yes, I did think some thing he said, did, or wore were amusing, overall he was too much of a douche!
Then there is Joel.... sigh, Joel! He is sweet, caring, loving. Complete opposite of Van, but just as, if not more appealing.
I could totally understand Cami being torn between the two. One is what she always wants, one is what she needs.
But of course things never run smoothly when it comes to matters of the heart, and Kick runs the same way. Jealousy, misunderstandings, fighting, bitchiness.
Can Cami find her HEA? For that you are going to have to read for yourself!
Ms Roberts has a knack in her writing of drawing you right into the story. You can hear the crowd roar at the stadium, feel the body hits, taste the blood, smell the sweat.
It is a fun, sweet, sensual, sexy, testosterone packed read, and a great addition to the Completion Series! Now I need to know if there will be more in this series!
By the way, I may have fallen a little bit for Joel.... and Van maybe, just maybe, redeems himself a bit!
Coming in to this book I was SUPER excited. I have read the other two books in this series and LOVED THEM. I love Holly's style of writing and I knew I was going to get some hot alpha athletes that were going to make me swoon. Kick is about a Rugby team and their journey to the championship game. I know absolutely nothing about the sport. Then I read this:
Ruck me. Maul me. Make me Scrum.
I am sold. I now want to know everything there is to know about Rugby. Hot Alpha athletes that wear a shirt like that? YES PLEASE!
Cami Avesque is a tadpole in the sea of fish at her job at the Cleaveland News and Journal. She works in the classifieds hoping to work her way up to investigative journalism. She gets her big break when the current sports journalist has to be put on bed rest. Cami is sent to Colt, Ohio to cover The Slam. The Slam are headed for the Championship and they need good publicity. It is Cami's job to write a four part series on the Slam and what makes everyone fall in love with Rugby. There is just a slight problem. She knows nothing about the sport and hot, sexy athletes with abs you would want to lick are her weakness. Cami has been burned too many times by that type of man and has become a shell of a person. She wear bra's too tight to hide her large breasts, shirts to big and pants that are way too baggy. She doesn't like attention and that is her way of staying unnoticed. At times Cami drove me insane. She had "shy Cami" and "wild Cami". There were times she would get the courage to step out of her shell and just live. She would make eye contact and hold her head up high. Then she would revert back. I hated that. It took me quite a bit of the book to connect with Cami. Once I really started to get to know the real Cami I loved her. I needed her to grow up and be strong and watching that happen throughout the book is what made me love her.
Joel Stelson. That man is sex on a stick and I loved EVERYTHING about him. I loved him from the first time I read his name in this book. It took a bit to get to his side of the story in this book but when I finally got more than just a taste of him I was hooked. Joel is for sure book boyfriend material. Sexy, sweet, a dirty mouth, and did I mention sexy? YUMMY. Joel had something horrific happen to him when he was young and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I can see why he is does some of the things he does because it affected him. That didn't make me love him any less. There were times I wanted to shake him and say "Open your damn eyes! It is right in front of you!" Joel is the co-owner of The Slam with his brother Van. They both own, manage, and play for the team.
Enter Van Stelson. I have my mixed emotions about him. He is sexy and he knows it. He is quite the player and stands by the rule that one night is enough and don't double dip. At first I liked Van but the further it got in to the book I really started to despise him. He was too cocky for my liking and at times he was just a flat out ass hat. He did redeem himself and that is what helped to push this book to four stars.
This is the story of a Rugby team that has earned their way to the championship but it is so much more. There are many bumbs on the road there. Love triangle between brothers is never a good thing and this one gets sticky.
I am sad that this is the last book in this series because I LOVE this series. Anytime you have sexy athletes, hot sex, and a great writing you know it's going to be amazing. I really hope that Holly can be persuaded to write more in this series. Hockey sounds great! If you haven't read this series I highly recommend it. The are must one-click books.
Kick, Holly S. Roberts. Review from jeannie zelos book reviews I wasn't sure about this book, I've read some sports related novels that were great, and others ...well, let's just say – they were a bad choice, so I was somewhat tentative on starting. I need not have worried though – it was a great read, with a perfect balance of sport, sex and romantic story – and as a non sports fan I too was caught up in the cameraderie and atmosphere of the match ( I nearly wrote game...or is it the other way round..damn, i've forgotten now!) I felt for Cami, school bullying has long lasting after effects, ( been there, done that) and I understood perfectly why she was so shy, and tried to keep hidden. It's a tough world when you have to think through every action and scenario, and plan just what to say, when and where....I was puzzled by the “look up” instruction she kept giving herself at the beginning, til I got to the bullying part – poor Cami, she was really let down by the few jocks in her life. She's got a thing for muscles though...and has been sent on tour with a Rugby team...lots of muscles there and she tries hard to keep away. But there's bad boy but charming Van, and his gorgeous but someone daunting brother Joel. Somehow Cami ends up caught between the two, wrapped up in their attraction, and still struggling to make sense of the sport and her assignment. The team and the town are a very united front, and they take Cami to heart. She's a sweet girl and they appreciate that she's trying hard in a world where she's lost, and she gets lots of help from all directions. She comes to love the sport, and her editor loves what she's written, but as time goes on the struggle with the brothers takes its toll. There's some hot, sensual sex, lots of touches and glances, shared moments, those little things that build a relationship and are so important at the start. It all makes for a beautiful romance, with a perfect ending, all wrapped up in a tale that entrances and pulls the reader into a world which they may know nothing of ( me!). I really felt part of the story, wondered what Cami would do, felt for her when she made mistakes, when she got too caught up in wild Cami and the muscles and sensible Cami had to pay the price. The brothers too – yes Van's a Bad Boy, a man-whore, but he's got that charm, that smile and confidence, and we see a bit more of his personality as time goes on. Joel, he appeared really surly at first, but as he opened up and his charm came out Cami got caught up in his spell too – torn between two brothers, and to begin it certainly kept me guessing which way the story would go. I loved the way the romance was just part of the story, how we met other characters from the town, how the sport was explained and made me feel I was there. Not just the sport but the celebrations around it, how the town lives for it, how the local kids get into the sport so young. It has a real family feel about it. Stars: Five, I really enjoyed this story. ARC supplied via Netgalley
Cami is a classifieds writer for her big city newspaper that wants to have her big break and get out of the "mosh pit." She gets an unsuspected assignment to tell the story of "The Slam" who are a big name in the sport of league Rugby...Rugby? Yeah, I honestly didn't know what to prepare myself with that. Looks like a mash up of soccer, football, jumping, wrestling, and well, a whole mishmash of manly-sports. I'm game, and so is Cami!...Not exactly.
She has her reservations on interviewing muscle-bound males due to past occurrences that have lead her to believe that she and jocks, are like Superman and Kryptonite. She has no choice but to put on her big girl panties and get in the game. The game she is faced with is against the Stelson brothers, Van and Joel. What she doesn't anticipate, is that giving into her impulsive wild side may have ruined her chances of winning the championship.

spoiler alert!
What I liked:
- How the author sets up the world of league Rugby for someone, like me, who doesn't know a thing about Rugby, can follow along with the story without having an encyclopedic-overwhelming explanation of the game. So, thank you Holly!
- Van and Joel Stelson! You are certainly drool worthy.
- Charlie and Stub. You gave a sense of home and family to the book that lacked in the Stelson brother dynamic.
- The length of the book. It was a quick read, perfect for a days at the beach or right before bed. It took maybe two nights to finish this book (with interruptions).
What I didn't like:
- Cami. Excuse me if I rant a bit! I found her constant talk about her panties and moistness to be overkill. Learning about Cami's past really gave depth to her personality, but we don't hear about this until after we have to hear about her "nymphomaniac" (not my words) relationship with the male jock species(yikk). So, in this respect, I found Cami to be two different characters in this book, since she really comes into herself much later, I have to say I would have preferred it if her internal dialogue at the beginning matched to the end (her personal growth wasn't a focus in the story).
- The separation between Cami and the man she loves. As always, a lack of communication, and overhearing partial conversations, leads to romantic explosions. In this case it was justified, but let's have some lady balls and make our men listen to our explanations! Their separation in the book, I felt, lasted a little too long, especially compared to how long the couple had been together for. This is a personal preference, others may not feel the same.
Overall
I would recommend this book for anyone wanting a book that is an easy read with some moderate steam, and anyone who likes to read about ripped athletes who are capable of a forever love.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.

I love rugby and I love romance so to give me a book to read about both was sure to be a winner and let me tell you this was a total score! I loved it! Kick is the third book in the Completion series and each book can be read as standalone.
Cami is an editor in the classified ads section for the Ohio newspaper she works at, that is until her boss asks her to step up and do a report on the Slam rugby team in Colt. Not understanding why she is being given this she none the less jumps at the chance to show her journalistic talents.
In her youth Cami was given an unfair label of being free and easy with the jocks on her school team and ever since has hidden her ‘wild Cami’ away. That is until she comes across the part owner/player of The Slam team – Van Stelson. Van is a total player and it is inevitable that he would hook up with Cami despite her resolution to not ever put herself in that place again. However it is the reaction of Joel Stelson, the other part owner/player and brother of Van that sets her heart a flutter and in him she finds a true support and ….well the beauty of the story is in the reading.
This was such a good storyline and totally engrossing, it was one of those books where nobody was allowed to interrupt in my devouring of this read. It was a ‘read it till it ends’ and ‘through the night’ book. Well what do you expect with two sexy brothers, a plethora of male hunk-a-licious with the rugby team and a hot and steamy love story?
It was a good relationship build-up and the chemistry of Joel and Cami was easily believable and felt.
I just loved, loved Joel with his standoffish aloofness and his sensual but downright sexy allure. I like broken men who need to be rescued and Joel was just it! But he was all so powerful and alpha protective of Cami, even if he was saving her from his own man slut brother. I liked Van, even if his, at first, abhorrent behaviour was irksome. He grew on me that by the end he became endearing and cheeky. I did think that maybe this would get too complex and have a division of the brothers but it was superbly written in that, yes there was some angst and tension but all was resolved and brought to a satisfactory conclusion.
It was great to see Cami finally come to love herself and not let the issues of the past have any bearing on her life anymore and to set herself free. How better to do this than with the man she in return helps to heal too. A brilliant, brilliant read with lots of hot tension, family values, community support and all set amongst the fantastic game of rugby. Five stars! Top of the league!
"The problem seems to be that the man I love wants to give me to his brother." Cami..
We meet and get to know Cami Avesque during high school where she breaks out of her "geek" personality and becomes part of the popular crowd. When she finally decides to give up her virginity to the football team's quarterback she soon finds out that she was just another notch on the belt for him. He not only breaks her heart, but humiliates her as well by telling her that all the jocks are saying that they have slept with her. Unable to deal with the slap in the face of this she becomes a recluse again and basically just blends in and becomes a nobody to get through her last few years of high school. Unfortunately for Cami, she falls yet again for another "jock" in college and ends up in the same situation as if it was de-ja-vu. After two epic fails Cami becomes even more self conscious of her appearance, especially the size of her boobs, and basically hides who she is.
Van Stelson and his brother Joel own, play and manage a rugby team named Slam. Their father who is friends with a member of the Cleveland newspaper ask for a favor by getting the paper to run an article on his son's team. When Skylar the original journalist is unable to go, Cami is sent in her place. This is where she meets both brothers and tries to fight the draw she has to both of them. Van has his reasons for chasing after her, and Joel has completely different thoughts about her, both wanting to get her into their arms to say the least.
I loved the spark, sass, and spunk that Holly wrote into Cami. Between Cami arguing with herself over her attraction for the Stelson brothers, and her low self esteem she comes up with some absolutely hilarious sayings. The difference between the two brothers is like night and day, and it is fun to watch how at certain times they can almost act like each other. This is a great book for any sports lover as is her first two books Play and Strike of this series. As for this one I like how she gives up insight into the game of Rugby, because I for one knew nothing about it until reading this book, but after I finished it I am tempted to watch a game myself. I will say that Mrs. Roberts actually surprised me a couple of times during the book with the way that she wrote how Joel and Van went about chasing Cami, and for the reasons behind why each one wanted to be with her. At one point she has you going no, that did not just happen. Add into the fun couple of Charlie and Stub and it makes for that much more laughter. I was glad to get the chance to read and review this book because I truly love how she portrays her sexy and strong athletes. Over all this is just a really really fun story to read and you will find yourself at then end of it well before you are ready for it to be over.
To be honest, I was a little hesitant going into this book knowing it had rugby players in it. For those who don't know, I'm an Aussie and both forms of rugby (league and union) are big down-under. I'm a bit of a sports fan and tend to enjoy watching Rugby League, having grown up around it. But I was pleasantly surprised how much I ended up enjoying Kick. I can see that there may be a few differences as this one is set in Colt, Ohio but the general gist seems to be the same. I was a little confused at first as some of Cami's research didn't match up, but she really didn't understand the game, so it may have just been her trying to come to terms with the game.
I could see that Cami was the quiet type and she had closed herself off from the world. She went to work, did her job as a copy editor at the Cleveland News and Journal and returned home. She avoided eye contact and has only one friend, all due to some bad boyfriend experiences in high school and college. I kind of felt sad for her, but when she was sent on an out of the blue assignment she started to open up and I really began to like her and her naughty thoughts and amusing banter. The shy girl kept falling away and this fun girl who has an addiction to ripped bodies came out!! Wild Cami was a hoot and it was great to see her out of her shell, making friends and ogling those hot bods… Yum!
The brothers… What can I say but dayum! They are both tall, ripped sexy athletes that had Cami turning to jelly. Van is very confident and you can see he is a womaniser, but Cami can't help checking him out and he knows he affects her. He pushes her to uncomfortable limits and she does everything she can to keep her distance. Joel, oh my, the dark broody type, and he rarely shows emotion. Cami was not sure how to handle him and he comes across a little aggressive and mean, but Cami manages to get past his walls. I enjoyed watching this relationship grow and see how nice Joel is underneath.
I loved the passion and the team bonding that the guys had. This team brings the whole community together and whether you won or lost you celebrated together. The building relationships was great to see and the transformation that Cami went through was awesome too. There was plenty of sexual tension and passion to keep you flicking the pages, but overall I REALLY enjoyed the story. Now, I know that one brother got his HEA, I hope we get a story for the other and maybe some of the other players too!

Okay, so I want to preface this review with a few facts: 1. I have not read the other books in this series. 2. I know NOTHING about Rugby. At all.
These little facts did not hinder my reading experience at all. The authors writing made it easy to follow along, learning more about this exciting sport as you read.
Cami is a news reporter who is desperate for her big break. Once a current employee is out on medical leave, she is assigned to covering something other than the classified ads. However, discovering the her new assignment is a series piece on a rugby team – she has her reservations. You see, Cami has a weakness for athletes. And try as she might to hide her body and come off as a shy person, she tends to lose her mind around too much muscle.
Enter the gorgeous Stelson brothers, Van and Joel – owners and players for The Slam. Though they are brothers, Van and Joel couldn’t be more different. Joel is quiet and reserved, almost to the point of being rude to Cami when they meet. Van, on the other hand, has his sights set on Cami. He is persistent with his flirting and his pursuit of her. It eventually pays off. Cami gives in – letting go of her preconceived notions of athletes. She decides to let go and give in to Van.
It doesn’t take long for her to realize that Van is like every other athlete she has ever known, causing Cami to throw her walls back up faster than you could imagine. Joel steps in to help Cami. Hoping to salvage some of his brothers wrongdoings, Joel takes his time showing Cami that she wasn’t wrong….you can’t cast a stereotype on a group of people based on a few bad experiences. But what happens when Van decides he wasn’t ready to give up just yet? Can Cami realize which brother she is supposed to be with before it is too late?
This was a fast paced, fun loving novel. I actually loved both brothers to pieces. Van was a player, but he was funny and he had his moments of sincerity that were precious. Joel is the brooding older brother with a past he can’t let go of, but he was sweet and attentive. And they were both hot, hard-hitting rugby players…..what’s not to love? Cami and I had issues, though. I definitely wanted to slap her multiple times. She tended to make unfounded excuses for her actions. It was a little annoying and it continued throughout the book. Overall, this was a cute, quick read. It wasn’t emotionally draining or heart wrenching, but instead delivered several laughs and some seriously steam-worthy moments. I would definitely recommend this book for fans of athlete-based romances.
3.5 – 4 Stars

I’m a new reader to Holly S Roberts' books but I can say with hand on heart that this won’t be the last book that I will read of hers.
Kick was a fabulous story and one which drew me in right from the beginning. It was nice to find a book centred around a lesser known sport in the US but one which is huge in my country, Rugby. As expected, the main characters and brothers, Joel and Van Stelson, are hotter than hot and with their contrasting personalities you can’t help but fall for both of them.
Cami is an aspiring journalist who is promoted to cover the brothers’ team when the initial reporter is forced to bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. Cami knows nothing about rugby or the Stelson brothers but after travelling to Colt to be based with the team, it is soon evident how important rugby and The Slam is to the town and its people.
A self proclaimed muscle fetish girl, this job was never going to be easy for Cami but her obsession isn’t helped when her first meeting with Van is when he’s half naked. Knowing Cami won’t be able to concentrate around a topless Van she quickly asks him to cover up, much to his amusement. Cami is done for and despite her best intentions to remain professional; she quickly falls for Van’s charms.
Joel is the complete opposite of his brother; a hulk of a man with a dark and intimidating aura, although Cami soon gets to see a different side of this beautiful man with the scarred face. As expected, Van does what Van does best and it’s Joel that picks up Cami’s pieces.
As Cami’s time with The Slam continues, pressure between the two brothers and her escalates to violent proportions and Cami must decide who or what she wants before her heart and her career are damaged irrevocably.
This story swept me in at such a pace and I read it practically without stopping. I loved the sweetness and sourness of story and I can’t wait to read more of Holly’s sportsman based books. You don’t have to understand Rugby to love this book, or even like sports in general, this book is just a fascinating read of love and heartbreak but with a good dose of a HEA.

Holly S. Roberts has hooked me again! Kick has made a new fan and rugby may just be my new favorite sport. I have read the other books in the series and this is definitely my favorite. Kick was highly engaging, steamy, and exciting. The characters grabbed me from the first page and it was certainly filled with many surprises.
We meet Cami a reporter who is slowly moving up the ladder. Her dream to cover serious and important stories. She is assigned to cover the Slam rugby team who happens to be owned by two brothers who also own the team. Van and Joel are both breathe, sweat, and sleep rugby. Nothing is more important to them. Van the younger of the brothers is a known womanizer and Joel well he's the quiet one and highly misunderstood. Cami has always had a weakness for the strong athletic type and has vowed never to be involved with one ever again. Her past has turned her off from any serious relationships and in her book athletes are the worst. She is immediately thrown into the exciting world of rugby and as she is getting to know the game she is also getting to know these brothers who are way more than just a pretty face. While one pursues her the other seems to want to protect her. It's a dangerous game that surely no one will win. Cami has some tough decisions to make while trying to spin the best story of her life. How will on effect the other? Will her reputation as a serious reporter be ruined by these two men that she can't seen to stay away from? Or will her clear head prevail?
I wouldn't consider this a true love triangle. While you may feel some serious angst, it is clear that Cami's heart will be given to in the end. I can't tell you who obviously it would ruin the story. You will definitely fall in love with this game and it's characters. You may even love to hate some as well. The town where the book takes place is filled with so many fun people you will want to move there and meet them all.
Cami's character was strong and independent and I enjoyed her the best. She was smart, driven, and determined. I loved how she took things on and never gave up on getting to the real story between these two brothers. A roller coaster of a book and one that shouldn't be missed. Holly drew me in yet again and as always I was completely satisfied with its outcome.
Kick is the story of journalist Cami and the two brothers she is torn between on her first assignment. Van and Joel Stelson are completely opposite when it comes to personality. Van is the ladies man, bringing a different girl home every night and not bothering to learn names. Joel is the brooding, quiet one, suspicious of everyone and not wanting any attention.
Cami is a young journalist who is following the brothers and their rugby team as the boys play their way to the league championship. She is instantly drawn to Van and his charming ways, but knows that she is asking for trouble by getting involved. Cami was burned by two athletes in her past, so she knows to steer clear from Van.
One of the things I liked about this book was getting to learn all about rugby and it's delicious bad boys right along with Cami. Cami is completely clueless when it comes to the sport, but we get to discover all of the rules while she does her research. The Stelson brothers are both delicious, but it doesn't take long for one brother to come out ahead and steal my attention. I certainly wouldn't mind more books about the brothers or their teammates!
I found Cami to be a bit frustrating sometimes, which kept my from becoming very invested in her story. She has been burned by men in the past and that is holding her back from finding happiness now. I think this is something most of us can relate to, but Cami's way of dealing with this focused solely on hiding her big boobs and trying to make herself look ugly. That was hard for me to connect with. I enjoyed Cami coming out of her shell and rediscovering her confidence.
Overall I thought this book was an interesting read with unique problems. I liked the authors way of storytelling, and felt like the story was well put together. I personally had a hard time connecting with the heroine, but I think other readers will still like the book.
