Have you ever: 'cut the cheese,' or 'let it rip,' experienced the 'silent but deadly,' or laughed out loud at the idiotic college ritual of 'lighting a match' to it, been prompted to 'pull my finger' or have accidentally 'stepped on a duck?'
You must have, since you are an earthly lifeform and having been a kid at least once in your lifespan, Jo Nesbø's Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder Series will certainly stimulate those memories of first time discoveries and newness, of the importance of being silly and laughing about it. I recently took that road back in time buddying up with my son and his reading list. It was quite a gas!
Doctor Proctor, an aging, eccentric ( synonym for zany, wacko, crazy, mad, lunatic )professor given to spending his time alone in his laboratory: befriends eleven year old Nilly and Lisa, or at least they befriend him. Singularly, they're pretty comfortable being loners but team up for the daunting task to help Doctor Proctor figure out the most effective use for his marvelous invention, this magnanimous contribution to global natural resources - the industrial-strength 'Fart Powder.'
The drama that explodes on Canon Drive reverberates far above the fantastic level, involving a mad-cap chase through the sewer system of Oslo, where rats and Animals You Wished Never Existed like anacondas (Anna Conda) hide, to inescapable prisons and NASA. There are more serious issues at the bottom of the story than the mere gaseous exchanges of human beings: bullying, corruption, and the illegal distribution of unknown powdery substances to children are implied.
More importantly, the hero, Nilly - diminutive in size, is a giant in integrity, intelligence and bravery. With the sharp witted dialogue fans have come to enjoy of his crime novels, Nesbø's imagination soars high with a wonderful motley set of characters in a rollicking adventure, a brief history lesson on Oslo, a bit of silliness for the young and not-so young. This delightful children's book is not just for children, but childish adults too. If you're either of the two, you'll enjoy this.
Dr. Proctor Fart Powder is the first in the series of what is surely scentsational children's reading, one I'm sure to be indulging in once in a while, with or without my kid's reading list.

Jo Nesbø is the most successful Norwegian author of all time. He has sold more than 19 million books, which are published in forty-seven different languages globally, and he is widely recognized as one of Europe’s foremost crime writers (ref. Harry Hole series). His debut children's book, Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder, released in 2007, sold more copies in his native Norway than any other children's debut, and rights have been sold in more than 25 countries, including the US. A joint German/Norwegian Doctor Proctor movie is also currently in production.

Nesbø asked her if she had any ideas about what the book should entail. She said that it should be a story with a girl and a little boy. The boy should be shorter and smaller than the girl (Selma did not like big boys at the time). She also wanted the story to include a mad professor.
Nesbø considered his daughter's request and said he would do it on one condition:

I have all books in the Doctor Proctor series and this one was not the best introduction. I certainly hope there is some improvement as the characters develop otherwise my journey into this series will be not be as enjoyable as hoped. While no doubt there will be children who will pick up this book because fart is in the title, the translation is very stilted throughout and some of the humor has been lost. It simply was not as fart-tastically funny as expected.

It won’t be easy, and it may just involve sewers, trickery, an anaconda, and escaping from a seemingly inescapable prison. (Who knew a book about farts could be so suspenseful!) Will Lisa, Nilly, and Doctor Proctor win in the end, or will all of their plans–ahem–run out of gas?

October 7, 2016Doktor Proktorov prdiprah je u temelju sasvim standardna avantura za decu: vrlo sitan dečak, vrlo pametna devojčica, vrlo ludi ali šarmantni naučnik, vrlo zla braća tabadžije koji im zagorčavaju život. I... prdiprah.
E, prdiprah i njegove raznolike upotrebe (i pokušaj da se proda NASI kao raketno gorivo) jesu ono od čega će svakom poštenom detetu zasijati oči, jer je ova knjiga puna prdeža!* pocepanih turova! guzica! a pominju se (retko) i sline i govanca. Pa ko voli tu vrstu infantilnog humora, biće vrlo, vrlo srećan. A ko ne voli neka se ne potresa.
*specijalnih, ultrajakih, ali NESMRDLJIVIH, što je verovatno ustupak pedagozima i roditeljima koji kontrolišu šta im deca čitaju.

Buddy-read with my son. It was fun, we laughed a lot and I think Jo Nesbø has got what it takes to write about children to children.
I am not familiar with his adult books through no fault of his. It was around the time his novels got published in Hungarian when I decided that Scandinavian (or any other modern) thrillers/mysteries are just not my things and never will be, so I just avoided his works as well as any of his fellow authors.
But when I was contemplating choosing some books for my son in the Library, I came across this one and we decided to give him a try. Was a good decision. :)

Ako ste mislili da Jo Nesbe može da smisli samo dobar triler, prevarili ste se. Prdiprah doktora Proktora je dokaz da se možete dobro zabaviti čitajući deci pred spavanje. Moj sin i ja smo se toliko smejali da su nam komšije lupale u zid! 😂

Typically when I see a kids' book with words such as "fart" in the title I don't give them a second glance. However, this book is written by one of my favourite thriller authors and the simple fact that he had written a children's a book was enough to make me *have* to read the book, never mind what it was called or what it was about.
Surprisingly, though the book is about an invention of farting powder, there is not a great deal of "toilet humour" to be found. Perhaps it's cultural, or it gets lost in translation, but the humour comes from different directions. I thought this was a delightful, funny, well-written story.
Nilly is new in the neighbourhood, he is very tiny for his age. He meets neighbours Lisa on one side and Doctor Proctor on the other. Dr. Proctor lets them in on his latest invention which is a Farting Powder. When no real use for the powder can be found they decide to sell it as a novelty item to kids, but twin bullies Truls and Trym want theirs for free so Nilly gives them an extra shot in their powder which sends them flying up into a tree. Dr. Proctor has an industrial strength version of the powder which he thinks belongs safely in the hands of NASA to be used for rocketless space travel. But then someone steals the industrial strength powder for evil purposes.
The story is full of excitement and adventure. Nilly finds himself in extreme situations from being sent to jail to being eaten by a boa constrictor called Anna Conda. The story also has a wonderful cultural appeal to it as well with plenty of inside jokes on Norway's size and not-so-famous status in the world. It's quite amazing that Nesbo, who writes such stunning adult thrillers, has the ability to write such a fun, whimsical children's story as well. He certainly is a talented writer. I highly recommend this. It will appeal to both boys and girls, but I'd certainly add this to any Books for Boys list. A hilarious romp. It would be great to see Nesbo come out with another children's book in the future. (Just as long as it doesn't interfere with his thrillers' schedule :-)

The chief selling point of ‘Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder’ is blatantly obvious. You would be hard pressed to find a child who didn’t think flatulence funny. And this isn’t normal gas. We’re talking about explosive power that makes the earwax press into your head while your eyes press out of it. Even more appealing, it’s odorless.
The good doctor, the eccentric of his sedate neighborhood, lives on the Oslo fjord, tinkering on new inventions that, like a powder intended to prevent hay fever, generally disappoint him. When a new kid of Lilliputian size named Nilly moves onto quiet Cannon Street, things are going to change, and not just because of his irreverent attitude or loud trumpet playing.
He boosts the confidence of the girl next door, Lisa, and becomes her best friend. They help Doctor Proctor to understand that his powder does not have to serve any more useful purpose than making children laugh in order to be profitable. Nilly delivers a proper comeuppance to the bullies who rule Cannon Street, Truls and Trym Trane.
There’s much more to the story, though, including an anaconda sliding through the sluices of the Oslo Municipal Sewer and Drainage Company, huge servings of Jell-O, and the Big and Almost World-Famous Royal Salute at Akershus Fortress, the city’s ancient protector, in honor of Norway’s Independence Day every May 17.
As you can tell, Jo Nesbo, better known for his adult crime novels, has no higher goal here than unadulterated silliness. What’s wrong with that? Widely spaced print lines and lots of charmingly primitive drawings by Mike Lowery make this slapstick saga easy to read.
Recommended for third graders on up.

I was looking for a short audiobook to listen to and found Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder and thought, hmm this could be fun, and it was. Action-packed and entertaining book that is well written with a couple of cute characters.
Recommended for little kids and big kids alike.

Ε, κάποιος από τη Δημόσια Βιβλιοθήκη καθυστέρησε το "Αίμα στο χιόνι", είχα ετοιμαστεί ψυχολογικά για Νέσμπο, οπότε πήρα το παιδικό του!!!!!! Και νομίζω ότι χαλαρά θα ολοκληρώσω και αυτή τη σειρά, έτσι για να περηφανεύομαι ότι έχω διαβάσει ό,τι έχει γράψει!!!!!
Η παιδική σειρά βιβλίων, λοιπόν, έχει ως πρωταγωνιστές τον Δρ.Πορδάλο, έναν τρελό χημικό που κάνει παράξενες και άχρηστες εφευρέσεις και δυο παιδιά, γειτονόπουλά του, το Μπούλη (έχετε να πείτε κάτι για το όνομά του;) και τη Λίζα.
Για να μην τα πολυλογώ, οι τρεις τους ζουν μια τρελή περιπέτεια προσπαθώντας να προωθήσουν την πορδαλόσκονη (ξυπνώντας το δασκαλίστικο μέσα μου μου έρχονται ιδέες περί δράσης - αντίδρασης και αρχής προώθησης πυραύλων), καταλήγουν στο μπουντρούμι του Ζόφου, πέφτουν θύματα bullying, κλοπής, περίγελου, τα βάζουν με ηλίθιους αστυνομικούς, ανακόντα και χοντρούς διδύμους, αλλά φυσικά, στο τέλος κερδίζουν.
Ο Νέσμπο αλλάζει ύφος και από το σκοτεινό αφηγητή γίνεται ένας εξαιρετικός παραμυθάς, σαν το μπαμπά που θέλεις το βράδυ να σου λέει παραμύθια για να κοιμηθείς. Με ύφος σαρκαστικό και γκροτέσκο, οι ήρωες είναι αξιαγάπητοι και οι κακοί μισητοί! Όσοι είστε γονείς/θείοι/νονοί πάρτε το βιβλίο δώρο στα παιδιά/ανήψια/βαπτιστήρια σας αν είναι πάνω από 10 ετών και κάποια στιγμή που δεν θα σας προσέξουν ρίξτε του μια ματιά! Δεν νομίζω να σας πάρει πάνω από 2 ωρίτσες να το τελειώσετε!!

Jo Nesbø stekao je svjetsku slavu kao pisac kriminalističkih trilera. No, njegov serijal romana za djecu nije ništa manje popularan među čitalačkom publikom. Neobično kako jedan pisac može briljirati u dva tako potpuno različita žanra, zar ne? Kao da se u jednoj osobi spaja nespojivo. Upravo sam zato imala strašnu želju pročitati njegov serijal za djecu - željela sam vidjeti kako mu je to uspjelo i koliko je stvarno dobar u tome. I znate što? Sjajan je!
Doktor Proktor povučeni je osobenjak, pomalo luckast izumitelj najnevjerojatnijih izuma, koji imaju jednu zajedničku karakteristiku: svi njegovi izumi zaista su genijalni, ali isto tako i potpuno promašeni - u smislu da će ih teško biti prodati i koristiti u komercijalne svrhe. Primjerice Prdoprah Doktora Proktora, koji proizvodi urnebesno glasne prdce, ali bez ikakvog mirisa. Ili Čudotvorna kupka Doktora Proktora, pomoću koje je moguće putovati kroz vrijeme, ali isključivo u specijalno dizajniranoj kadi i samo dok ima dovoljno mjehurića. Ili pak Svijetlozeleni prah Doktora Proktora, od kojeg jednostavno pozelenite - i svijetlite u mraku.
Jedino dvoje ljudi koje prepoznaje genijalnost u Doktorovim izumima su Mrva i Lisa, dvoje djece koji žive u istoj ulici kao i Doktor Proktor i koji su, osim toga, i najbolji prijatelji. Mrva je sitan crvenokosi dječak bujne mašte, pun najnevjerojatnijih priča, za koje nikad ne znaš jesu li ili nisu istinite. Lisa je, pak, pametna djevojčica koja je nedavno izgubila najbolju prijateljicu nakon što se ova odselila u drugi grad, nakon čega se Mrva pojavio kao stvoren da popuni mjesto novog najboljeg prijatelja. Nakon što se sprijatelje i s Doktorom, Mrva, Lisa i Doktor Proktor zajedno će krenuti u najnevjerojatnije i najzabavnije pustolovine, kao što su bijeg iz najbolje i najstrože čuvanog zatvora na svijetu, iz kojeg nitko nikada nije pobjegao; putovanje u prošlost kako bi spasili Doktorovu zaručnicu od zle bande vodenkonja; te najzahtjevniju akciju od svih do tada - spašavanje svijeta od zlih mjesečevih kameleona, prije nego što ovi uspiju uništiti svijet i pojesti sve ljude na njemu.
Ove urnebesno zabavne i strašno duhovite knjige sjajno su štivo za klince, ali i za sve ostale. Ove knjige jesu, dakako, prvenstveno namijenjene djeci, i prepune su komičnih situacija i ludih pustolovina u kojima će klinci naprosto uživati čitajući ih, a popraćene su i jednako sjajnim ilustracijama za još ljepši doživljaj čitanja. No, ispod svega toga skriva se i puno malo drugačijeg humora, koji će uhvatiti i shvatiti samo oni već malo stariji čitatelji. Ima tu satire, ironije, pa čak i nešto crnog humora, kao i izrazite karikaturalnosti kojom se Nesbø koristi pri opisivanju Norveške i njenih stanovnika, zbog čega će ove knjige biti jednako duhovite i zabavne i odraslima, kao i djeci.
Nesbø se ne boji u svojim romanima za djecu prikazati i neke možda ne tako lijepe stvari, kao npr. to kako Mrvu njegova obitelj neprestano ignorira i u biti se ružno prema njemu odnosi, ili to kako su zločesti blizanci Trane, koji utjelovljuju školske nasilnike, svoje ponašanje i način kako da se odnose prema drugima naučili kod kuće, od jednako zločestog oca. Sve te probleme s kojima se u biti svi klinci susreću dok odrastaju, Nesbø prikazuje na duhovit način, s dozom ironije, ali i s poukom popraćenom prikazom onoga što se na kraju dogodi zlim ljudima, neizravno govoreći svojim malim čitateljima da uvijek treba biti dobar, nesebičan i prijateljski nastrojen prema drugima. Jer što god napraviš, jednog će ti se dana vratiti. Mislim da su ove pouke sjajno uklopljene u ove romane i da su one još jedan od razloga zbog kojeg bi klinci trebali pročitati ove knjige.
Sve tri knjige pročitala sam jednu za drugom, gotovo i ne stajući. Radnja ide brzo, zanimljiva je, jednostavno vuče na čitanje. Jedina sitnica koju sam zamijetila tijekom čitanja je to da se u trećoj knjizi promijenio prevoditelj, zbog čega su se promijenili i neki izrazi i imena koja su bila uobičajena u prve dvije knjige, što je bilo mrvicu zbunjujuće dok sam čitala - Topnička ulica postala je Avenija Cannon; peruanski sedmonogi pauk usisač postao je peruanski sedmonogi sisajući pauk, i sl. Nisu to neke strašne promjene (iako bih voljela da je novi prevoditelj obratio pažnju na imena i nazive kako ih je preveo prethodnik), jer je smisao i ton knjige ostao isti, tako da se na promjene lako naviknuti.
Ako volite Nesbøove trilere, dajte priliku i njegovim romanima za djecu (bez obzira na to jeste li i sami dijete ili niste). Sjajni su, a tako drugačiji od onoga što inače piše. I svima ostalima, bez obzira jeste li ili niste već čitali nešto od Nesbøa, preporučam zabaviti se uz koju od knjiga o Doktoru Proktoru. Sumnjam da će vas razočarati. ;)
Doktor Proktor povučeni je osobenjak, pomalo luckast izumitelj najnevjerojatnijih izuma, koji imaju jednu zajedničku karakteristiku: svi njegovi izumi zaista su genijalni, ali isto tako i potpuno promašeni - u smislu da će ih teško biti prodati i koristiti u komercijalne svrhe. Primjerice Prdoprah Doktora Proktora, koji proizvodi urnebesno glasne prdce, ali bez ikakvog mirisa. Ili Čudotvorna kupka Doktora Proktora, pomoću koje je moguće putovati kroz vrijeme, ali isključivo u specijalno dizajniranoj kadi i samo dok ima dovoljno mjehurića. Ili pak Svijetlozeleni prah Doktora Proktora, od kojeg jednostavno pozelenite - i svijetlite u mraku.
Jedino dvoje ljudi koje prepoznaje genijalnost u Doktorovim izumima su Mrva i Lisa, dvoje djece koji žive u istoj ulici kao i Doktor Proktor i koji su, osim toga, i najbolji prijatelji. Dalla penna di Jo Nesbø, in Italia sicuramente più famoso per la serie crime con protagonista Harry Hole, nasce una serie dedicata ai ragazzi.
I protagonisti sono uno scienziato pazzo, il Dottor Prottor del titolo, e due ragazzini, Bulle e Tina, che sono un po' gli sfigati della scuola.
La storia è assurda, tra invenzioni esplosive, fughe dai bulli di quartiere e inseguimenti sotterranei, con una grossa anaconda a caccia di cibo, ed è ambientata in una Oslo favolistica.
Nel complesso l'intreccio e i colpi di scena non mancano, la trama risulta divertente per i bambini, ma anche gradevole agli adulti, che possono anche farsi due risate seguendo le assurde peripezie di Bulle.

Keby to bolo trochu kratšie, bolo by to dokonalé. A nejde ani tak o prdiaci humor než o originálne nápady, megasymaptické postavy Buleho a Lisy a doktora Proktora. Každý iný svojským spôsobom. Nesbø si ma so svojimi detektívkami nezískal, ale týmto si u mňa aj detí dobre šplhol.

Baš sam željela provjeriti kako odličan pisac krimića može napisati knjigu za djecu. Provjerila sam i još uvijek se cerekam, simpatično štivo za klince ali i za "starce". Jako brzo se čita, ima dosta ilustracija i dok kažeš "keks", već si na kraju knjige.
A baš si nešto mislim kako bi našim političarima, prije sjednica, trebalo servirati kavu sa žličicom prdopraha... :-D

Chosen as our January selection over in The International Children's Book Club to which I belong, in which we read a children's book from a different country each month, Doctor Proctor's Farting Powder is the debut children's book from celebrated Norwegian crime novelist Jo Nesbø. It is an entertaining tale, with plenty of funny flatulence to keep young readers amused, and a humorous self deprecation - the constant references to Norway being such a small country, the mention of the "almost famous" annual cannon salute to the Norwegian king ("who didn't rule over enough for it to amount to anything"), the never-quite-on-time or in-tune marching bands that perform on Independence Day (Norway Constitution Day) - that will please adult readers. I can't say that it is destined to become a personal favorite, but I enjoyed the reading experience, and would consider reading the sequel, Bubble in the Bathtub .

Mindenki remekül szórakozott (10,14,41). Volt azért, amitől frászt kaptunk, akkor gondoltam is, hogy na, azért csak Nesbø, de annyira irreális volt az egész, hogy semmi nem volt igazán durva benne. Én külön díjaztam a kiejtési jegyzéket a végén, és nagyon jól jött ki, hogy másodjára olvastam norvég történetet a Norvégia-mániás kölöknek meg a tesójának. Sok hangos nevetés, és általános jó hangulat kísérte, tetszett, ajánlott.

W tej książce nie ma zbyt wiele głębi, wzruszeń czy morałów. Jest też kilka kwestii mało logicznych. Ale jedno jest pewne - w chłopięce gusta trafia idealnie. Bo nic tak nie śmieszy małych chłopców (moi mają lat 5 i 8) jak żarty o pupie, kupie czy prykaniu. Przynajmniej moich 🤷🏻♀️ To pierwsza książka, która obu rozbawiła do łez, pierwsza, która sprawiła że wstawali rano i zamiast nas budzić bawili się po cichutku w jedzenie proszku na prykanie. Za ten zachwyt daję 5 gwiazdek.

Jedan od mojih omiljenih autora krimića, Jo Nesbo, piše i romane za djecu. Saznavši ovo nemalo sam se iznenadila pošto je toliki majstor na području pisanja vrhunskih krimića da sam ga uvijek doživljavala isključivo ozbiljnom osobom. Kao pravi fan, nabavila sam i njegove dječje knjige (za sada su na hrvatski prevedene dvije) pošto si nisam mogla predočiti kako ON piše komedije za djecu (a vidjet ćete, i odrasle).
„Prdoprah doktora Proktora“ priča je, naravno, o prdežu. I to ne bilo kakvom. Mrva i Lisa upoznaju tajnovitog doktora Proktora, ludog znanstvenika čiji su izumi fantastični, ali nažalost, potpuno beskorisni. Otkrivši prdoprah (čija prvotna namjena svakako nije bila prašak od kojeg se prdi, već lijek) veseli trio dolazi na svakojake ideje kako ga iskoristiti u dobre svrhe da postane koristan i unosan. Naravno, priča je popraćena raznim zgodama – bolje reći, hm, nezgodama – a koja će biti krajnja namjena prdopraha i kakve će sve neprilike predstojati tome, ostaje na vama da pročitate.
Iako je cilj ove knjige zabaviti i do suza nasmijati mlade, Nesbo još jednom dokazuje da je vrhunski pisac s neiscrpnom maštom – u ovu zabavnu priču utkao je razne savjete o prijateljstvu s nezaobilaznim poukama. Uz to, ovaj „dječji“ roman nije samo za djecu pa će ga rado pročitati i stariji (i to ne samo kada čitaju nestrpljivim klincima nove urnebesne zgode ovih simpatičnih likova). Odličan je za svakoga, od petogodišnjaka pa do baka i djedova jer garantira napetost, zabavu i grčeve u trbuhu od smijeha.
Nabavite „Prdoprah doktora Proktora“ za ljeto. Vi ćete se odlično zabaviti i opustiti dok je fantastičan način za pokazati djeci da čitanje knjiga nije samo lektira – ovo odlično štivo navest će ih da zavole čitanje, uvući u svijet zabavnih likova i zanimljivih priča te potaknuti da postanu ljubitelji ovog načina zabave – čitanja knjiga – uza sve što danas tehnologija nudi djeci za zabavu.

Като всеки уважаващ себе си норвежец, Ю Несбьо е музикант и вокалист. Само че не на блек-метъл група, както повечето страшни ръмжащи норвежци, а на поп-рок група. Също така е и бивш футболист. Ритал е във ФК Мьолде, отбор, чийто мениджър в момента е Оле-Гунар Солскяр, бившата златна резерва на Манчестър Юнайтед. Е, норвежците не ги бива по футбол, все имаш чувството, че ритат топката сякаш имат ски на краката си, но поне не наричат тази игра сокър. А и имат странно чувство за хумор.
Ю Несбьо е и писател, предимно на криминални романи. "Пръц-прахът на доктор Проктор" е детска книга, или поне се предполага, че е такава. Норвежците обаче са по-разкрепостени и не се притесняват да пишат идиотски книги за деца.
Със сигурност детските лица ще грейнат от радост, когато прочетат как смахнат, но симпатичен учен, е изобретил вълшебен прашец, който те кара да пръцнеш толкова мощно, че чак може да полетиш или поне да отпразнуваш националния празник на Норвегия с подобаващи залпове, с които чак в Дания да те чуят. Несбьо обаче не преекспонира тази гръмотевична тема по просташки начин, а просто придава на пръцкането романтични и приказни форми, градейки една поучителна история за деца. Както и за пораснали.
В "Пръц-пахът на доктор Проктор" има много черен хумор, колоритни имена на герои с клета съдба, като тази монголския воден плъх Атила и анакондата Ана Конда, има и големи дози ирония. В сърцевината си историята е стандартна. Добри деца, лоши деца. Приятелства и проблеми. Приключения и изпитания. И накрая справедливост и възмездие за всички. Важното е обаче да привлечеш интереса на детските очи за да предадеш посланието си, а Несбьо с нестандартния си подход определено успява и заслужава похвали за това.
Като всеки уважаващ себе си норвежец, Ю Несбьо е музикант и вокалист. Само че не на блек-метъл група, както повечето страшни ръмжащи норвежци, а на поп-рок група. Също така е и бивш футболист. Ритал е във ФК Мьолде, отбор, чийто мениджър в момента е Оле-Гунар Солскяр, бившата златна резерва на Манчестър Юнайтед. Е, норвежците не ги бива по футбол, все имаш чувството, че ритат топката сякаш имат ски на краката си, но поне не наричат тази игра сокър. А и имат странно чувство за хумор.
Ю Несбьо е и писател, предимно на криминални романи. "Пръц-прахът на доктор Проктор" е детска книга, или поне се предполага, че е такава. Норвежците обаче са по-разкрепостени и не се притесняват да пишат идиотски книги за деца.
Със сигурност детските лица ще грейнат от радост, когато прочетат как смахнат, но симпатичен учен, е изобретил вълшебен прашец, който те кара да пръцнеш толкова мощно, че чак може да полетиш или поне да отпразнуваш националния празник на Норвегия с подобаващи залпове, с които чак в Дания да те чуят. Несбьо обаче не преекспонира тази гръмотевична тема по просташки начин, а просто придава на пръцкането романтични и приказни форми, градейки една поучителна история за деца. Както и за пораснали.
В "Пръц-пахът на доктор Проктор" има много черен хумор, колоритни имена на герои с клета съдба, като тази монголския воден плъх Атила и анакондата Ана Конда, има и големи дози ирония. В сърцевината си историята е стандартна. Добри деца, лоши деца. Приятелства и проблеми. Приключения и изпитания. И накрая справедливост и възмездие за всички. The kids absolutely LOVED this book. Farting is a topic about which we try to downplay while being mildly amused. I was skeptical that maybe this would be too gross. I started to read it aloud as we drove to the grandparents' house for Christmas. All the while I had in mind that I could pull the plug and quit reading it because I had back ups on hand. It wasn't necessary to do so. We were all amused by the story and the characters. There are lots of places to stop and make predictions which is fun since it seems that almost nothing is too outlandish. That was some of the fun because we got to laugh at the imaginative possibilities. The story circles that were completed at different points throughout the story reminded me of the fun in Holes. The writing is great and well- thought-out and the prose is nice too. Nesbo doesn't spend too much time being too flowery, but he isn't sparse either. There is a nice blend of imaginative descriptions and straight-forward storytelling.
"That was so funny. If you see another funny book like Doctor Proctor, get it," says the 6-year-old boy. There was a ton of delighted laughter from the kids at the absurdities as well as the fart humor. The adults enjoyed quite a few chuckles as well.

Johan pamahti! Kuulemistani kehuista huolimatta suhtauduin Jo Nesbon "Tohtori Proktorin pierupulveriin" (Gummerus, 2009) hieman varautuneesti, mutta kyseessähän on hysteerisen hauska ja taitavasti kirjoitettu tarina, jossa on enemmän ytyä kuin nimihenkilön pierunauttipulverissa konsanaan. Ilmestymisvuotensa parhaita lastenkirjoja!
