Wren and the Werebear

Rate this book
How can you fall in love with the shifter you've been sent to kill?

Wren and Chief were the youngest, most talented shifter assassins at the secret Center for Shifter Elimination. But after a panic-botched job on a wolf shapeshifter, Wren quits. Chief can put down any last shifters; she's through.

Except one year later, the CSE calls again - there's a werebear shifter out there. He's killed half a dozen civilians.

And he killed Chief.

When Wren throws herself back into her work, she's looking for one thing: revenge.

She's not looking for love. Mr. Right is about to pop the question.

She's not looking for family. Her parents are doing just fine in Chicago, thank you very much.

She's not looking for a new home. She's a city girl, and Maugham is too small a town to lose yourself in. Even if the hunky park ranger DOES walk around shirtless...

But things you're not looking for have a tendency to sneak up on you, in the worst possible way. And as Wren steps closer to the truth, the small town harboring a dark secret waits... and watches...

With everything to lose, Wren races to find the werebear before it kills again. But what she doesn't know can hurt her... and her next job will be her last.

Unique and engaging!

Wren is a shifter assassin, as was her father before a botched job left him unable to walk. Her drive to hunt down the monsters who attack humans without provocation is personal. Her boyfriend, a prominent politician has no idea of her secret past, but when she gets called out of retirement to hunt down an especially deadly bear in California, there's no way she's going to turn down the assignment.

Dawson is a forest ranger whose job mostly consists of squirrel wrangling. When the sexy and slightly trouble-prone Wren arrives in town, he can't resist the draw of her quirky personality and sparkling green eyes. He can't help but notice certain aspects of her story don't seem to make sense, but when a rogue bear attacks a family in his forest, Dawson has bigger problems to focus on than solving that particular mystery. After all, she's not the only one with secrets.

Wren's life has been focused pattern of check your surroundings, clear your weapon, anticipate your enemy. Suddenly she finds herself distracted by the handsome blond ranger who seems to pop up in the most unlikely places. She tries to ignore the distraction, she has a boyfriend after all, but while her heart and mind are at odds, Wren can't help but hear her father's voice telling her to trust her instincts.

Another well written shifter adventure by Aubrey Rose, Wren and the Werebear is a fast paced romance set in a world where shifters are deadly animals out of control, but fortunately nearing extinction. Can Wren let go of her personal drive for vengeance and learn to live her life for love instead?

Wren and the Werebear is a great new shifter story. It is very well written and engaging. Once I started reading it, I had a hard time putting it down. I also loved that this story was complete without a cliffhanger. I read a lot of different series, but it's really nice to read a story that has a complete ending. I loved the characters (even the minor ones), and would love to have read more about the different townspeople. All-in-all, this was a great book that is well worth the price and the time to read it.

I completely enjoyed this Intriguing storyline. A secret federal government project to search and destroy all were-animals. Wren is seeking revenge for the death of a friend by searching for his killer which is a bear who kills regularly in California. I really like the instant attraction between Wren and Dawson. Daws seems easy to love and you want him to win her heart. She has him cornered butt it's a trap. Can she survive what comes next?

Wren and the Werebear (A Shape Shifter Romance Novel) Aubrey Rose (Author)

I found myself engrossed in this story and had to finish it in one sitting. The characters were beautifully written and truly came to life on the pages. Wren and Dawson displayed such raw emotions I found myself completely enraptured. I have loved all of Ms. Rose's previous works but I have to say this has taken over the top spot and become my favorite.
