I picked up Operation Morya and ended up reading it in one go. It felt like watching a high-energy action movie, with scenes moving quickly from one to the next. The writing style is crisp, almost like a screenplay, making it impossible to stop turning the pages.

Set in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi, the book brings the city to life with its detailed descriptions. You can feel the festive chaos, the crowded streets, and the pulse of the city. The stakes are high—a terrorist attack planned on a nuclear plant—and the intelligence agencies must race against time to stop it.

Drago, the lead character, steals the show, but Roma and Munir also play crucial roles. Their journey is gripping, full of action, drama, and smart dialogue. The tension keeps building, and by the time you reach the climax, it’s hard to catch a breath.

At first, I wasn’t sure if the book would hook me because the beginning felt a little slow. But once it picked up, there was no looking back. If you love fast-paced thrillers packed with action and unexpected twists, this one’s worth a read.

This was pure adrenaline. The fast-paced narrative, simultaneous unfolding events, and explosive action scenes kept me hooked. Ovaise, the calculating mastermind is ruthless with many such deluded associates, Dheeraj 'Drago' is an unconventional genius, and Roma is a fearless RAW leader who refuses to back down even when her personal stakes are high—these characters felt real and unforgettable.
Munir is a layered character who acts as the reader’s lens—bitter yet constantly amazed, confused, and trying to keep up with Drago’s mind games.

The book is cinematic, thrilling, and deeply patriotic. If you’re into smartly written, twisty, and emotionally high-voltage thrillers—this one's a no-brainer.

When I first picked up Operation Morya, I was immediately drawn in by the vivid backdrop of Mumbai’s Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The opening chapter thrusts you into a city alive with color and devotion, yet the atmosphere shivers with underlying tension the moment that rogue satellite signal goes offline. From my point of view, this balance of celebration and menace set the perfect stage for an espionage thriller—Mandar Bam wastes no time establishing stakes that feel both personal and global.

Engaging Plot and Pacing
I was impressed by how seamlessly the narrative moves from one high-stakes moment to the next. Just when I thought I’d caught up with the DRAGO operative’s investigation, Bam throws in a fresh twist: cyber‑attacks on critical infrastructure, whispers of AI‑powered weaponry, and even connections tracing back to Mosul. In my experience, thrillers can sometimes sag in the middle, but here the author maintains relentless momentum. Each chapter ends on a question that compelled me to turn the page, and I finished the book feeling like I’d run a mental marathon.

Complex Characters
What resonated with me most were the characters, particularly the protagonist. Though his DRAGO training makes him almost superhuman in skill, Bam infuses him with just enough vulnerability—flashbacks of past missions gone wrong, fleeting moments of doubt—that I felt invested in his success. The antagonists, too, aren’t one‑dimensional villains clutching red buttons; they’re driven by ideologies and personal vendettas. In my view, this moral ambiguity adds depth, making each confrontation feel like a clash of philosophies, not just bullets and codes.

Themes and Relevance
In my reading, Operation Morya succeeds in exploring timely issues: the rise of AI in warfare, the fragility of our digital infrastructures, and the geopolitical undercurrents that link distant conflicts. Bam prompts me to reflect on how a single compromised satellite could cascade into a humanitarian crisis. For me, the novel isn’t just a roller‑coaster; it’s a cautionary tale reminding readers that tomorrow’s threats may emerge from the code we write today.

Writing Style and Imagery
I found Bam’s prose both energetic and precise. His descriptions of Mumbai’s crowded streets, the rhythmic beat of dhols, and the soft glow of diyas contrast sharply with the cold glare of computer screens in underground command centers. That juxtaposition made every scene pop in my mind’s eye. While the technical jargon around satellite orbits and AI algorithms felt complex at times, Bam always grounds it with a relatable character reaction—so I never felt lost in the science.

Final Thoughts and Recommendation
By the final pages, I was exhilarated and a little breathless—exactly what I want from a thriller. Operation Morya delivers on its promise of espionage, cutting‑edge technology, and nail‑biting suspense, all wrapped in a uniquely Indian context. From my point of view, this debut cements Mandar Bam as a rising talent in the genre. I’d recommend it to anyone who loves intelligent action, international intrigue, and a story that lingers long after you close the cover.

Operation Morya is one of those books that pulls you into a world full of action, secrets, and big questions about technology and trust. It starts with a mysterious message from Mosul, a satellite signal that suddenly goes silent, and the lively chaos of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai. At first glance, it seems like a typical story about terrorism and race against time, but it quickly reveals so much more.

What really makes this story stand out is how it shows that behind all the danger and fast-paced scenes, there are real people with fears, hopes, and struggles. The main character, DRAGO, isn’t just a soldier on a mission—he’s someone trying to do what’s right when everything feels like it’s falling apart. The book does a good job of making you care about him and the others caught in this dangerous game. It’s not just about gadgets or secret plans; it’s about their courage and determination.

The themes in Operation Morya are deep but easy to understand. It talks about how enemies can hide in plain sight and how technology, like AI weapons, can be both helpful and dangerous. It makes you think about how modern conflicts aren’t just about guns and bombs—they’re about deception, cleverness, and the power of new technology. The story makes it clear that sometimes, the biggest threats are the ones we don’t see coming.

The way the story is told is fast and exciting but also thoughtful. It moves quickly through scenes of action, but it also takes moments to breathe and show what the characters are feeling. The book balances these parts well, so it’s never overwhelming. It’s easy to follow along, and the mix of quick-paced action and quieter moments makes the story feel real and relatable.

One of the nicest touches is how the author describes the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The colorful scenes, the noise, the community spirit—these details make the setting come alive. It’s a reminder that even in the middle of danger, life and hope go on. The author clearly respects the culture and the people of Mumbai, and that respect shines through in the way the story is told.

Throughout the book, there’s a kind and caring tone. Even when things are tense, the story doesn’t forget that the characters are human. It shows their fears and doubts, but also their strength and resilience. It’s a reminder that being brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared—it means you keep going despite your fears.

All in all, Operation Morya is an exciting and thoughtful story. It’s not just about stopping a dangerous plan—it’s about the courage it takes to face the unknown and protect what’s important. The mix of action, culture, and human emotion makes it a book that keeps you hooked and makes you think. It’s a story about resilience, hope, and the unbreakable human spirit in times of chaos.

One sentence summary: I really enjoyed it!

Now, onto the proper review!
As someone whose imagination works with words rather than pictures, the writing style of this story was a really refreshing change for me, as I could envision the scenes in my mind as pictures! The book has been written in a way that's supposed to be visualized as a film, and I really liked that!

The pace throughout the story was really appropriate, neither too fast, nor too slow. Focusing on all necessary details, without stretching it out to be feel monotonous! The characters were also really well-portrayed, having their own strengths and characteristics which made them special!

Here's what you can expect from the book:
💙Diverse characters, I mean, I know it's India so you can always expect unity in diversity. But these things matter even more in fictional works like this! We have an unpredictable but perceptive Hindu agent, a passionate Muslim agent, and a brave Gorkha agent, all playing crucial roles in leading the team of RAW agents.
💙Film-like visualization
💙Multiple POVs, with definitions for any word one might not understand. I really appreciated that.
💙We also get the Antagonist's POV
💙Terr0rism
💙Religious faith [To be specific, Hinduism]
💙Patriotic 🇮🇳
💙Fast-paced
💙A pregnant FMC who is really damn brave and resilient. She was pregnant, but not portrayed as helpless at any point. And yes, that's a small thing, but I liked that. Because while she wasn't THE main character, she was the 2nd main character, and I loved her role in the entire book!
💙Set in Mumbai

I will mention that there's a tiny bit of political part, which, as someone who isn't a fan of any party (none at all), wasn't my favourite. But then again, it's not pushy or something at all, it's just there, yk? Think of it as like, an atheist hearing someone say that Jesus is great and very kind might not share that opinion, nor do they believe in any other god like Ganesh ji, or Allah or Waheguru ykwim, but as long as they don't push that belief on them, it's no big deal! So, kinda like that. (FYI: I am not an atheist when it comes to God, I believe in all of them. You can catch my drift, I'm sure!)

ANYWAYS, so the bottom line is that I would totally recommend this book!

And ofc, thanks a lot to the author, Mandar Bam for sending me this review copy!

Operation Morya by Mandar Bam is an action-packed thriller that revolves around a high-stakes terrorist attack planned on Mumbai. Set against the backdrop of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the story follows intelligence agencies as they race against time to prevent a catastrophic attack on a nuclear power plant.

One of the most striking aspects of the book is the detailed description of Mumbai’s areas, which the author portrays beautifully and authentically. Mandar Bam’s ability to weave intricate details into the narrative enhances the reading experience, making the city itself feel like a character.

The writing is fluid and engaging, ensuring the story never feels out of place or dull. Instead, the suspense builds progressively, keeping readers hooked till the very end. The characters are well-crafted, with Drago standing out as the most intriguing personality in the story.

What truly makes this book special is how it highlights the relentless efforts of India’s defense forces, police, and intelligence agencies in ensuring national security. The struggles of gathering intelligence—from police sources to the NSA and undercover agents—are depicted with gripping realism.

The book carries the intensity and intrigue reminiscent of the Netflix series Sacred Games, making it a must-read for thriller enthusiasts. If you enjoy fast-paced, high-stakes action with a strong sense of realism, Operation Morya is definitely worth your time!

Operation Morya is a gripping mystery/thriller that keeps you hooked until you finish reading. The story set against the backdrop of Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi. The story follows RAW agent Roma who receives a mysterious cryptic message from Mosul, indicating a possible terror attack on Mumbai’s BRAC nuclear research facility.

The further story weaves with Roma, and her other two co - RAW agents Munir and enigmatic Officer Dheeraj aka Drago, who undertook a mission ’Operation Morya’ to thwart the terrorist attack on Mumbai. But the time was ticking away faster than they thought.

The entire story line is fast paced filled with stimulating moments. The characters and their roles are well defined specially Drago’s character is my personal favorite. I loved his way of handling matters with so much precision and calm mindedly. I liked how the author maintained a perfect balance between devotion and realistic events.

Reading this novel felt like exploring the city in real, like the festival chaos, crowed streets, pulsating drumbeats, vibrant processions, and the visualizations were spot on. And the writing style! it is very impressive and sharp.

If your love patriotic moments with high stakes action then this is a perfect pick for you.
It’s a must read and I would highly recommend this book to everyone‼️

Operation Morya by Mandar Bam is a gripping spy thriller that captivates readers from start to finish. Set against the backdrop of the Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai, the narrative kicks off when RAW receives an urgent intelligence signal from Mosul: a potential terror attack is imminent, threatening the safety of India.

As the story unfolds, we follow the RAW team on a high-stakes mission.

The author skillfully intertwines the celebratory atmosphere of the festival with the sinister plots originating from Mosul, creating a stark contrast that heightens the tension throughout the plot.

With attention to detail, he vividly depicts the intricate workings of the operation, including the cracking of complex codes, the fortification of security systems, and the counter-operation strategies employed by the team. Readers will feel as if they are right in the midst of the action, experiencing the adrenaline and urgency alongside the characters.

A notable element of the story is the incorporation of artificial intelligence, which adds a modern twist to the traditional spy genre. This innovative aspect not only enhances the suspense but also raises thought-provoking questions about technology and its implications in national security.

For anyone who enjoys spy thrillers "Operation Morya" is a must-read that delivers on both excitement and depth.

Operation Morya isn’t just a thriller—it’s Mumbai itself, beating louder than the dhols of Ganesh Chaturthi, trembling under the shadow of a nuclear threat.🧨

📍RAW’s Urgent Mission: A RAW agent sacrifices and races against time to decode a major terror threat before it escalates into war, during the bustling Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Mumbai.

📍Suspicious Movements: Roma uncovers a security lapse at RAW HQ, triggering the discovery of a potential terror plot, while a UAV test flight ends with news of an urgent mission and a nuclear threat to Mumbai.

AND THATS WHEN OPERATION MORYA LAUNCHES 🚀

MY FAV PART 🩷~

📍Tunnel Showdown: Drago saves the PM, kills the terrorists in a deadly gunfight, but learns Ovaise has obtained ISIS’s AI weapon in Mumbai, prompting the team to prepare for the final confrontation.

📍 Final Confrontation: Ovaise hides a MANPAD in a Juhu visarjan truck to target the PM’s plane; Drago stops him in a climactic fight, kills him, and ensures the city’s safety amid relief and devotion.

This book doesn’t let you “read and relax.” It makes you breathe faster, pray harder, and believe in the unseen sacrifices that keep a city standing.🕯️

A thriller where Mumbai itself is the hero.🦸🏻

The author proves thrillers aren’t just about guns and spies—they’re about hearts that refuse to give up.🩷

Let me begin with saying one thing - the 'trailer' of the book was mind blowing! it loved it..
Operation Morya is about a terrorist attack that is going to happen in Mumbai. It is not just shelling or bomb blasts, the attack is on the most important person of the country and the attack is AI powered. This attack planned in Mumbai was during the time of Ganesha Visarjan which is the busiest time in Mumbai and it is so crowded at that time. The story is so well written. Every page was thrilling. When I researched about the book I came to know that it was about to become a movie but it was later made into a book. But trust me, when I started reading the book, it sure felt like I am watching a movie! it was nothing less than that.

The main characters - Munir, Drago and Roma are all likeable characters each with their own characteristics. Honestly, my heart is partial towards Roma and Drago. Drago is a personification of the heroes of our country who go about on their work saving the country without asking for any recognition. They do whatever it takes to save their motherland. He is the hero of unsung heroes. Whereas Roma, a powerful lady, a Gorkha and is pregnant, without thinking about any harm, goes about the Operation..Operation Morya.

When the book ended, I had just one song going on in my head - Morya re, Bappa Morya re!!!!!

Book Name- “Operation Morya”
Author- @mandar.bam
Publisher- @papertownsindia
Genre- Thriller/ Suspense
.
It is an interesting, fast- beating thriller that combines modern warfare with human emotion. The narrative is topped with deception, calculated risks, and a sense of importance that keeps you flipping pages. The unbecoming blend of Mumbai’s essence, counter-terrorism teams, and Mosul adds depth to the narrative. The research is a proof in its accurate portrayal of ship and aircraft operations, coded communications, security protocols, counter terrorism operations, adding genuineness to the narrative. The dialogues feel unfiltered, the tension is boundless and the unfolding events keep you second-guessing everything. The writing is cinematic, making every scene feel vivid than life. The comparison between a vibrant festival in Mumbai and a deadly covert mission is masterfully done. The insertion of AI and the dark web of global conspiracies gives it a fresh, modern edge, while the emotional weight of the mission adds layers to the intensity. The way the story entwines cultural vibrance with high-tech tension is brilliant. If you enjoy reading intricate thrillers with an intense sense of place, then this one is worth your time.

I’m honestly impressed! 💥 It's set during Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai, the story begins with a blackout of a major satellite and a mysterious message from Mosul. From there, everything gets intense - a secret mission, a deadly plot to attack the Prime Minister, and a DRAGO agent trying to stop it all.😬

The book is full of twists, tension, and action, but it also has emotional depth and faith beautifully blended into the story. The mention of Lord Ganesha’s intelligence and the way it connects with national security is something I didn’t expect but truly I loved it. 🙏💫

Real places, real characters, and that feeling of “What happens next?” kept me hooked till the very last page. It’s fast, thrilling, and honestly feels like a movie in words. 🎬

Also, I loved the glossary section where all the attacks were mentioned with the dates 🗓️ and the number of people died.🪖😔

A gripping story which revolves around the themes of patriotism, terrorist attacks & the devotion for the ultimate 'Vighnaharta' (one who removes all the obstacles in your life)

The novel starts with a 'tip' of a terrorist attack being planned around the city of Mumbai & how a team of agents come together to find out the 'how', why' and
'who' of the same!
Throughout the novel, you will find references which resembles reality making it very engaging!
The characters are well- written with lots of precision and you will love the details which the author has included in their character build-up's!
When I picked this novel, the cover read, ' Visualized as a film, realised as a novel' -
& yes!!, definitely you will feel as if you are watching a movie/series and you can really visualise the story in your mind! It has that cinematic feel to it!
I felt as if I was watching a series marathon of ' Special Ops' while reading this!
The story will keep you hooked, a real page-turner..
MUST READ if you love a good nationalistic, thriller story!

Operation morya

The book is a spy action thriller movie being told as a novel.

The main characters - a terrorist, a pregnant woman and a secret spy - are involved in a situation on ganesh chaturthi in Mumbai.

The trailer hooks you up and the plot slowly thickens as you read. The characters are not so simply written but each driven by their motives albeit few being one dimensional.

The antagonist plans for every situation and it's up to the protagonist to save the day while the prime minister gets involved in between. The situation to save the pm while stopping a terrorist attack at the same time makes it more thrilling.

The author didn't shy away from killing few characters to add a sense of realism into the story. He also placed a few funny situations that make you smile occasionally.

Positives: great detail, good technical knowledge (except a single situation ), intriguing character, few deaths

Negatives: minor characters are one dimensional

Operation Morya is a fast paced thriller set in Mumbai, where Officer Drago is called back to prevent an imminent terror attack. The team receives a cryptic message coded in numbers and dots, and what follows is a race against time. This is not just about decoding a message but about stopping a catastrophe that could cost the lives of hundreds, or rather thousands and lakhs, including some very important people, from a possible nuclear attack.
This is one of those stories where you can clearly imagine yourself standing right there, watching everything unfold in real time. The tension keeps building, chapter after chapter, making it hard to put the book down because you genuinely want to know what happens next till the very end.
After finishing the book, I realised how accurate the line on the cover actually is. Visualised as a movie, realised as a novel. The story truly gives off strong cinematic vibes, almost like watching a high intensity thriller on screen, but in written form.

Operation Morya is an electrifying political thriller that grabs your attention from page one and never lets go. Mandar Bam masterfully blends suspense, action, strategy, and realism, creating a story that feels cinematic and incredibly relevant.

The plot is tight, the twists are sharp, and the tension builds beautifully with every chapter. What stands out the most is how real the characters feel their motivations, fears, and decisions mirror the complexities of modern politics. Every scene feels alive, like you're watching a high-stakes operation unfold right in front of you.

A fast-paced, intelligent thriller that keeps you hooked till the very last page. If you enjoy political drama, investigative tension, and stories that feel almost too real, this is a must-read.

Highly recommended for thriller lovers!

A thriller full of high action, spycraft, and cutting-edge technology, Operation Morya is an adrenaline-pumping ride through the maelstrom-filled streets of Mumbai. The story revolves around a festival that is Ganesh Chaturthi. The starting of the Story is a bit slow but then you'll be watching a movie in front of you.

All apparently unrelated incidents happened, until DRAGO intervenes. As he strips away the layers of what looks like a terrorist attack, he discovers a much more diabolical plot for an AI-based weapon that could destroy India. With time running out and thousands of lives in danger, DRAGO has to run against time to prevent the unthinkable.

The author presents a brisk, cleverly constructed story of geopolitics, espionage, and tech-enabled war. The suspense never goes and each turn keeps you guessing, wondering what is fact and what is fiction. (Use your mind)

Operation Morya is an absolute page-turner for all thriller fans who enjoy reading tales of intelligence organizations, military maneuvers, and cyber warfare.
If you're a fan of high-octane spy fiction, this one's for you!

A great suspense thriller.

If it was a movie I would've definitely watched it but it being a book is even more amazing 🤩

The narration was good. The time frame for each scene added a sense of urgency and created a little curiosity of what's going to happen. The characters and the story were on point. Drago, Roma and Munir were my favourite of all. There is no lag or unnecessary drag of the story , it was precise and has what is needed. One thing I love about this book is the slow build up of the story that you get to understand every character and aspect of the story clearly. If you love suspense thrillers with political additions which also involves t*rrorism and counter attacks this book is for you. I am sure you will not be disappointed ✨💯

The kind of story that immerses you so deeply, you forget you’re reading. Every detail, from the coded messages to the logistics of security operations, feels researched and realistic. But beyond the technical accuracy, it’s the characters that bring this book to life. Their relationships, conflicts, and unspoken tensions make the story emotionally gripping, while the unfolding events keep your heart racing. The author has managed to craft a story that is both intellectually stimulating and incredibly engaging.

The narrative takes you through a web of signals, codes, and intelligence maneuvers, keeping you at the edge of discovery throughout. What makes this book shine is the attention to detail—whether it's the portrayal of surveillance methods, encrypted communications, or the tactics of field agents. The writing balances the technical elements with a compelling human story, making you invested in both the mission and the people behind it. A brilliant fusion of authenticity and storytelling.
