The primer includes many repeated phrases and sentence structures to help young readers anticipate and predict sight words and includes a glossary of repeated words in the back along with the number of times each word is used. The primer includes several stories in each section, divided by topics that include Alice and Jerry, Surprise, Animals, Betsy Lee, Mr. Carl and Jack, and Good Night.

I am a huge fan of the Alice and Jerry books. When my daughter was in kindergarten I was conversing with my Mom and I mentioned the Dick and Jane books. My Mom had said she learned to read with Alice and Jerry books. I had never heard of them. I purchased a couple used copies and the rest is history. I have researched as much as I could about them and want to read as many as I can. My daughter loves them! From the research I have done, this book is considered a kindergarten level book. I loved reading it. Very simple, but the stories are cute and fun. My daughter read this in kindergarten and enjoyed it so much. They are short simple stories, but as it continues they do relate to each other. I love the chapter on the animals. The illustrations are just beautiful. I believe the illustrators were sisters.
