Former editor from the Irish Field tells her story of climbing Everest. Grania edited the Irish Horse World portion devoted to sport horses (not racing) and had broken her back.
Grania bravely went through the training, mountaineering and acclimatisation required to climb the peak. She only got to spend twenty minutes at the peak for lack of oxygen and time.
The whole story makes us marvel at the people who pay to do this and at the Sherpas who do it for pay.
