3.5. It's hard to summarize such an amazing novel. It feels rather simple language for level 5. This version should have added new words into the glossary.

How devil people can turn to be good ones if they receive good treatment. And how reputation and past deeds are important to determine future.

Huda:
Regarding the story, I admire the way in which the priest treated the man, Valjean. I was amazed by addressing the good part in him, when he reminded him of a promise that he did made about using his many in a good way! He was talking to him as a good man neglecting his bad reputation and his burglary. He did not introduce him to the police as a thief.

He expressed that by saying I bought you from devil and gave you to God, to remind him that this is your chance to change.

The priest's words did not affect Valjean immediately.. He kept stealing as he stole money from the little boy, but later the charm of these words started working. The man felt a deep grief.

This makes me rethink of the way dealing with people when they make mistakes. Usually I don't like people who lie, steal or deceive others, and I think they deserve punishment to prevent them from doing it again. But I don't know if the priest's way can work in real life. Is it realistic to do this with criminals? Or it is just a way that can be used with kids to give them a chance of change.

I also like the priest's way of thinking when he knew about the stealing of the silver pieces. He blamed himself for not giving the silver to the poor long time ago. 😇

These stories and cartoons with such noble ideas were dominant in the 80's and 90' made us sweet hearted and think of others. Nowadays cartoons are totally different and barely have a message. 😒

Chapter 2 ✅
It is an awful part. It really shocked me.
Do you notice that it was not acceptable to hire a single mother that days.
Exactly. She forgot about herself and lived for her daughter. 😔

Chapter 3 ✅
The past chases people even if they decide to be good. People easily forget the good deeds done by others but they never forget the bad ones.Only Allah forgives people when they decide to repent.

Chapter ٤ ✅
Cosette got away from the Thenardiers. I wish her happy life with the strange man. He seems a gentleman but why would he take her and where are they going?

Chapter 5 ✅
The beggar who gives money to beggars :) His kindness made him troubles.
I think the inspector Javert made himself a beggar to arrest Valjean and follow him to his home. What a mean plan!

Chapter 6 ✅
It is a romantic part but it was painful that the boy in this chapter experiencing mixed overwhelming emotions but alone, nobody knows about his feelings. I think that the father and his daughter are Valjean and Cosette and they are afraid that he was a policeman following them.

Chapter 7 ✅
Full of unexpectations and excitement. The best part so far. I won't write a hint about it until you read it. 🤓

Chapter 8 ✅
Marius is dreaming of lasting happiness but reality is always unlike dreams. There was "A cloud in the clear sky".
However, he tries to save what is possible to be saved.

Chapter 9✅
Chapter 10 ✅ This chapter is a mess. Suddenly there are people fight, dead, wounded and a lot of blood. Marius feels down. He is in the lowest point of his life.

Chapter 11 ✅
This one is short. Sometimes people who love each other have different life plans. Does (love) mean owning the beloved and deciding for him/her?

Chapter 12 ✅
It is full of blood and dead bodies. I was surprised by the way in which Valjean took his revenge on Jalvert!
Marius' dear friend has died bravely and Marius himself was shooted but what happened to him later?

Chapter 13 ✅
I do not understand. Jalvert showed up again. I thought he was killed by Valjean in chapter 12 🤨. If you got that, please tell me what is behind this confusion.
Marius was saved by Valjean, and Jalvert killed himself in the river.

Chapter 14✅
Marius and Cossette have married. Valjean in weakness moment and sadness to give a way Cossette, he told Marius about his past. M got shocked and promised not to tell Cossette about it.

Chapter 15✅
Here's the answer of my question 🤣 I thought I didn't understand what I read, but it was a trick made by the author. First Marius thought Valjean is a bad man, but Thenardiers, who aimed to ruin his reputation, has provided evidence that proofed his innocence. This made Marius invite Jalvert to live in his grandfather's house, but Jalvert died sooner in his flat :(
