How to Train Your Dom in Five Easy Steps

Rate this book
Sometimes the little head really does know best.

Jeff White’s needs are simple. All he wants is a submissive to help him explore the dominant side that his ex-girlfriend couldn’t handle. Problem is, inexperience in both dating and domming has resulted in a string of rejections.

What he needs is an experienced sub willing to show him the ins and outs of controlling a scene. Unfortunately, the only one willing to take him on is male, and Jeff is straight. One hundred percent, never-gonna-happen straight.

Easygoing painslut Eddie Powell doesn’t care that Jeff is younger, working class, and shorter. Eddie likes a bit of rough, and Jeff fits the bill perfectly. The trick will be convincing him to follow Eddie’s five-step training programme—which would be easy if Eddie wasn’t starting to have feelings for the rough-around-the-edges landscaper.

Once Jeff lays his hands on Eddie, things definitely get out of hand. But it’ll take more than hot, sweaty, kinky sex to persuade him to come out of the closet—especially to himself.

Warning: Contains a happy sub, a confused Dom, a high ratio of sex to plot, misuse of root ginger, and a suitcase of kink. Written in Jo’s usual exceedingly “English” English.

English through and through, Josephine Myles is addicted to tea and busy cultivating a reputation for eccentricity. She writes gay erotica and romance, but finds the erotica keeps cuddling up to the romance, and the romance keeps corrupting the erotica. She blames her rebellious muse but he never listens to her anyway, no matter how much she threatens him with a big stick. She's beginning to suspect he enjoys it.

*Pets book*

Welcome to my favorites list, you kinky, wonderful little gem.

This was a BDSM book tailor-made for my tastes.

I'm the first to admit that BDSM books are hit or miss for me. What do you enjoy in a BDSM story? Is it the pain? Is it the strappings? Is it the "sir"s?

I have very specific tastes when it comes to kink, and some of it is pretty hard to come by. I love dirty talk, the dirtier the better. But not just any dirty talk, oh no, I love humiliation.

You want my cock deep in your throat, do you? Yeah you do, dirty slut like you. Bet you love choking on cock.

*gulps*

If that kind of talk gets you going, that quote is just the tippy top of the filthy iceberg.

Now, for me, there is almost nothing better than a book filled with smoking hot sex, and I mean squirm in your seat all day because this is the hottest book you will read ALL YEAR kind of sex... except for one thing.

A smoking hot sexuality discovery story.

That's right, baby. Josephine Myles took something amazing and made it even more amazing. She took a freaking cherry Sunday and covered that thing with a mountain of whipped cream.

This is a hard-core sexuality discovery story. I mean, a man who has never been interested in another guy, EVER, kind of story. My favorite kind. *rubs hands gleefully*

And it was glorious. Slow burn, tons of sexual tension... just amazing, natural, organic relationship progression. A perfect, perfect GFY.

To top it off, it was funny. Just light-hearted, low angst, humorous stuff. I absolutely couldn't put it down for one second all day.

This is one of the best books I've read in ages. It was sweet, sexy, and just my taste. Romantic, kinky, dirty... I could go on and on singing its praises.

Oh, just buy it. You can thank me later.

4.5 highly combustible stars

If you're looking for some dirty with a side of kinky, topped with floggers, canes, cock rings, and nipple clamps, you are in for a treat. The heat level in this book is off-the-fucking-charts FLAMMABLE.

The toys and D/s play are great fun, but what makes this book a special kind of steamy are the interactions between Eddie, an experienced painslut and sub, and Jeff, a wannabe sadist Dom who somehow insults every woman he wants to top.

Jeff just wants to spank and flog and get off in the process. And if he has to practice with a bloke, so be it. Working with cement when he only wants to garden, Jeff is a softie at heart. He falls hard for Eddie even as he doesn’t want to admit that he could love another man.
Next time [Jeff] was breaking up old foundations, there’d be no need to get out the pneumatic drill. He’d just need to think about Eddie and whack his dick down on the ground.

Eddie is willing and gagging for it. To calm Jeff’s I’m-not-gay panic, Eddie pretends it’s good smutty fun and nothing else, but Eddie wants a relationship, just not one that involves lurking in the closet with a man terrified to touch his cock. Eddie’s a bit posh with a snarky mouth and cocky attitude, and I loved him from the get-go.

The secondary characters, Eddie’s friend Maddy and Jeff’s neighbor Niall, who are a couple, were complex and really came alive in the story.

Jeff’s properly British, middle-class family was equal parts frustrating and hilarious. Jeff’s mom, with her treacle pudding and snoopiness, won me over; Jeff’s homophobic, old-school dad not so much. When Jeff finally found the courage to come clean, his family’s reactions were at once expected and extraordinary.

There was no melodrama and little angst here, but there were plenty of emotions, sexy action, and hilarious dialogue. Myles is such a strong writer that seemingly mundane details become interesting, and the MCs feel like they could walk right off the page.

To focus just on the delicious filthy sex is to miss the point of this engaging, funny, and ultimately sweet story.

Yes, it’s BDSM, with pain play and humiliation, but the romance and tenderness more than shine through.
He had so many plans. He could hogtie Eddie and fuck his throat while he held his nose shut. He could tie him spread-eagle and kiss him all over. He could watch the sunrise with him from Jeff’s garden, then go inside for coffee and toast before heading back to bed.

This is not at all what I expected from the vibe that I was getting from the title. 😁 Instead of a hardcore BDSM and filthy sex, what I actually got was a very sweet and fun love story with adorable MCs plus kinky sex. Yea, the sex was really kinky and sexy but not downright filthy as in many BDSM novels. 😍

Jeff is kinda having a midlife crisis. After breaking up with the one and only girlfriend of 13 years, he realized that he wants to become a dom and practice BDSM lifestyle. But he has no experience whatsoever and after having a rather embarrassing incident with a submissive girl that he went out with once, nobody is willing to take him as a dom. 😁 Well, at least not women. There’s Eddie, a friend of a friend, who’s willing to take him as a dom. But Jeff doesn’t swing that way .. at least he thinks he doesn’t. 😂 Should he keep searching for some unknown women who may or may not be compatible with him or should he give in and try kinky things that he’s always wanted with Eddie? 😉

Eddie is charmed by the physically intimidating and gruff Jeff. He knows the guy is inexperienced as a hatchling but he was willing to take him as his dom and let him do whatever he wants to him and teach him how to be a proper dom. 😋 He knew from his guts as a pain slut that with some proper training, Jeff is going to be an excellent top and dom. 😜 But the guy is as straight as an arrow and ignorant. Can he convince that what Jeff actually needs is him as a submissive and not some inexperienced submissive wannabe women?

It’s really funny how Eddie tried to teach Jeff to be a proper Dom. I also love that instead of typical Dom and Sub personalities, these two have quite opposite traits from normality. Jeff is shorter than Eddie although he’s the dom and instead of being a posh, sophisticated and wealthy dom, Jeff is a hard landscaper who is just an average English bloke. Eddie is a designer and he’s more financially stable than Jeff. I also love that this novel is written in British English and their lifestyle rather than our normal American writing style. It’s quite fascinating although sometimes I find the usages funny. 😁 It’s quite funny and kinda frustrating to see these two mistranslate each other’s intentions. 🙄 Jeff thinks Eddie doesn’t do committed relationships while Eddie thinks Jeff would never admit being interested in men and come out to his family. In reality, they want opposite of what the other’s thinking. And the bedroom play and BDSM acts, Oooooo, they are kinky and hot! I love it. 😍👏 I wish there’s more exhibitionism and public sex but that was quite adequate. The ending was really cute and adorable too. I love that they got a very merry HEA with an epilogue. And that’s what I call a bonus dessert! 😘 This is such a sweet and charming book. I’d read more books from this author. 😌

Favorite excerpts from the novel: 💚🧡💜

”I think it’s more about having the control. About knowing you were putting up with it all for me. Because I wanted you to.”

“And you think you love him.” “I do love him. Even if he doesn’t deserve it.” “Deserving it has nothing to do with it. If you wait around for someone who truly deserves your love, you’ll be waiting forever. We’ve all got our flaws.

Protectiveness welled up inside him. He was going to cherish this cock. It was his to look after now. Even if Eddie didn’t know that just yet.

1.5* rounded down.

Okay. I slept a night over this. I still really dislike this book and the hype it rode in on. There's so much wrong to it on so many levels that I don't know where to start...

The clunky classism. It's not subverted, it doesn't even try to be halfway reflected, it's so bad it had me pull my toes up between my teeth due me writhing with disgust. Lo-Lo wrote an excellent review on this aspect: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

What is worse, though, is the misogyny spread throughout this book. A consistent, loathesome debasement of women. Again not subverted in the slightest (no, both posing for feminist photos isn't even close to being enough to counteract the women-hating, devaluing drivel!). Don't write your bloody GFY at the expense of women. Don't write bisexuality at the expense of women. That's fecking offensive.

The BDSM 101. This book read as if Myles had found herself a BDSM primer or 101 and worked through its various chapters while writing her story. Not only that it was terminally boring, it came over as goody two-shoes. It also lacked cohesion and direction. People aren't all having the same kink (which is why "training" anyone "in kink/BDSM" is nonsense), yet once again kinks are wildly mixed and meshed here with D/s, as usual in books about BDSM, being considered the absolute. No, so not like that. There are masochists who aren't at all into humiliation or domination, and hello, masochists and sadists *do* tend to place less import on sex.

With which we come to those many, many shaming and kink-shaming interjections. To the point of having to be called BDSM-fail. I marked my ebook version in over 30 places, too many to list here, but definitely too many for a book allegedly BDSM-friendly. Also lots of places where I went "huh?!", like when it is alleged that endorphines work from one second to the next. No, they don't, they take some time to become effective and have to be built up slowly in BDSM. Or the way low-sex or asexual BDSM is denigrated. Or how pansexual BDSM is denigrated. Or female subs. Or women in general. Or that people may not dislike certain fetish trappings (like tattoos or piercings, of course they may, it's not as if everyone has to like that). Or... yada, yada. Too much is ridiculed or denigrated here without being subverted afterwards, and it left a really sour aftertaste. Sorry, you sit on that horse, you get carried along by it.

Other points of missing logic: a guy like Eddie wouldn't be without a partner in the scene, he'd sure as hell have one. A newly interested dom normally would have been taken along to a party by the munch he frequents, people would take him aside and help him understand things. Unless he is a total arsehole, which Myles tried to paint Jeff, but didn't manage to do.

In the end I didn't believe in the BDSM, I didn't believe in the GFY, I hated how people. behaviour and like things were constantly denigrated, and the very few pockets of genuine humour were unable to lift this book out of its morass of negativity and prejudice. The author probably tried for something else, but whatever, it really backfired.

A delightfully British, perfectly sweet, funny, kinky romance...
I absolutely loved it!
"...I don't see what the problem is, anyway. He wants kinky sex; I want kinky sex. He's a sadist; I'm a masochist. It's like we're meant to be together. A match made in heaven and all that bollocks."

"Don't forget he's straight, and you're a man," Maddy added.

Eddie shrugged. "I've had straight blokes before..."
I fell in love with this story. The banter between these characters made for such an enjoyable experience and I highlighted the crap out of this book.

It had several of the angsty tropes one comes to expect from a GFY romance, but it was kept fresh by the humor, dialogue, and most certainly the kink.

Jeff White
...not sure whether to curse the day Eddie entered his life or to celebrate it. He’d never been this bloody confused and turned on all at once. Things in Jeff’s world were meant to be simple. Straightforward. No messing.

And yet here he was, leaping dick-first into a situation that bloody well terrified him.
Jeff was in a stagnant vanilla relationship for years. Freshly single, he hit the local D/s scene looking for a young woman who wanted what he was itching to dish out.

Unfortunately, the perfect sub seems hopelessly elusive. The women he meets at local BDSM meetings are too young, too hip, and too uninterested in getting involved with an inexperienced Dom. To make matters worse, Jeff isn't exactly a Casanova - his manners and social skills aren't attracting anyone.

Jeff's inner sadist can't come out until he finds the perfect sub... Which he finds in the most unlikely place...

Eddie Powell
“I think Niall’s already mentioned my offer to you.”

Jeff folded his arms. “He has. And I told him where you could shove it.”

“Excellent. I can see you’re thinking about anal play already. And if you decide to let me be your trainer, I’ll happily let you shove whatever you like up there, within reason. Nothing that could break apart and require a trip to the hospital to extract, and definitely no gerbils. Although to be honest, I’m not sure anyone’s actually ever done that. No one I know has ever admitted to it, anyway. And I’ve known some right perverts.”
Eddie is a self-described pain-slut looking for a man who can satisfy all his masochistic desires. As an experienced sub, he could have his pick of Doms, but he's set his sights on the gruff Jeff White.

Jeff insists - loudly and frequently - that he is straight as an arrow. When Eddie offers a 5-step set of training sessions to make Jeff a more experienced and desirable Dom, Jeff doesn't pass up the opportunity. After all, it would be so much easier to concentrate on honing his skills if he isn't distracted by his dick.

Eddie is one of the least submissive subs I've come across - he's mouthy and witty, and doesn't cut Jeff any slack. The power-dynamic between this couple is one of the many strengths of this novel. Completely charming and unexpected. Eddie keeps Jeff on his toes - as well as the reader.

Jeff comes to discover that Eddie would be the perfect companion...
If only he were a woman.

Eddie comes to realize that he could really fall for a guy like Jeff...
If only he would come out.

The relationship which blossoms between these two had me grinning from ear to ear - and you will too!

Touché, ms. Myles. This one will not land on my 'my dowdy aunt would love it' shelf.

First things first though...PENIS TASTES LIKE OLIVES? 0_o

There are several references to cocks tasting like “Olives sprang to mind” and “the olive-y flavor” in this book. Other than that, I liked this book way more than I should have. I didn’t care for Myles’ Junk much. One of my issues with it was that it was altogether too dowdy. That’s probably the last thing you can accuse How To Train Your Dom In 5 Easy Steps of. The actual kink and sex scenes didn’t do much for me, but I was totally lolling left and right when reading this book. Thanks to Jeff mostly, who finds that when it comes to discovering the BDSM scene as a newly single man, there’s no rose without a thorn.

I love how he’s an unintentional jerk and a total pillock. I love how he casually offends the folks in the BDSM scene (“really it was just a bunch of weirdos”) while embracing that very same scene. When entering something that resembles a fascinatingly different world within a world, you’d think anyone makes these observations, throws a little humor and self-mockery into the mix. But in BDSM themed books, all I ever come across are blandly sympathetic characters who behave entirely politically correct and like nothing’s weird. Fuck that.

So I applaud Myles for creating Jeff, and by creating him cleverly avoiding a ‘BDSM manual’ read, something that this book could easily have morphed into. Oh, and I applaud her some more for making him a bit of a bear too.. SCOOOORE!

Utterly charming, super-English character study of a diamond-in-the-rough Dom and the posh sub that agrees to show him the ropes by tutoring him. Of course, there's a slight hitch to this magical carpet ride and that's the DENIAL. To be fair, Jeff comes by it honestly, and he's just ignorant--not an ass, which can't be said about others. Luckily, Eddie's true enough to himself for both of them and drags Jeff to the truth. Okay, leads him by the dick to the truth. Sweet GFY.

Overall, big smiles with some Kink, with a capital "K".

4.4 Stars - Oddly enough, I fell head over heels for this perky merry read

This storyline sounded fun even for a reader like me who aren't that very fond and comfortable with BDSM (D/s and sadist play...) topics in the romances. I kept my fingers crossed (painfully hard!!) for a good, and sweet enough, M/M kink story read.

Wowsie, a British cannonball in the giggling M/M genre
'How to Train Your Dome in Five Easy Staps' is maybe not realistic and credible always, more of a fun and comical romantic masochist & sadist tale. These two characters Jeff and Eddie made me melt, they were so darn cute together.

***********************************************************

Partly from the blurb:

# Jeff White’s needs are simple. All he wants is a submissive to help him explore the dominant side. Problem is, inexperience in both dating and domming has resulted in a string of rejections.

What Jeff needs is an experienced sub willing to show him the ins and outs of controlling a scene. Unfortunately, the only one willing to take him on IS MALE, and Jeff is straight. One hundred percent, never-gonna-happen straight.
‘F@cking traitor. Was it possible for your d¡ck to be gay, even if the rest of you wasn't?’

# Easygoing painslut Eddie Powell doesn’t care that Jeff is younger, working class, and shorter. Eddie likes a bit of rough, and Jeff fits the bill perfectly.

The trick will be convincing him to follow Eddie’s five-step training programme—which would be easy if Eddie wasn’t starting TO HAVE FEELINGS for the rough-around-the-edges (straight) landscaper.
‘Oh yes. Jeff White was everything Eddie looked for in a man— (...) Broad shouldered, swarthy, built.’

***********************************************************

This lovely story just had it all
...For me; fun, amusing och heartbreaking sweet about two so very RL ordinary guys (in everything except their sexual preferences of course...). This is my kind of a light & fun D/s storyline. A chucling and giggling read.

I intensive-read every page with pleasure (during a long flight ... a little on the sly (near my nose) so that no lady in the airplane seat next to me could peek and solve anything .... much sex-filth. Haha, it could have been really embarrassing !!).
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I'll not forget this one in the first place
There were some shocking kinky, smexy, filthy sexplay things that happened here. In their bedroom, on the living room carpet, in the couch and out there in Jeff's beloved garden. I should have been scared to death (Jeff really is a hard sex saaaaaadist) but it is all told in such an amazingly charming way so even I thought it was a bit sexy. ~ ...In the end anyway.

***********************************************************

This novel, How to Train Your Dom in Five Easy Steps, is actually a pretty weird 'To Be a Sadist Dom' romance but with a great amusing plot and a tender end is it also so ver sweet. Plus, heartbreaking romantic and quite emotional at times. I felt for these men and I felt their feelings.

Do you like somewhat clumsy imperfect characters, and have some sense of humor, is this a hilarious M/M romance I want to recommend.

This was my fourth Josephine Myles book and also my fourth 4 star raiting. She know how to write funny very 'British' tales. I'll read more.

I LIKE - much more than expected

I was very excited to read this book after seeing so many positive ARC reviews here at GoodReads from trusted friends. And I knew and understood exactly what I was getting myself into with a straight Dom using a gay sub to train him in the world of the D/s lifestyle. But I'm a sucker for a good Gay-For-You story and knew we were going to have a HEA, so my excitement never waned. Unfortunately for me, there was too much unattached, unemotional sex (with some serious denial coming from MC Jeff for a good 80% of the book) to hold my interest until the HEA. It took me almost a week to read this, which is FOREVER for me, because I kept losing interest. I absolutely adore a good BDSM tale, but it has to be done with heavy emotion and connection between the characters. Anything else I consider porn. This felt like porn to me.

I'm sorry I can't personally recommend this one to anyone, but I am in the vast minority. Make sure you read other reviews here at GR before you decide not to read this. It is already a fan favorite!

BREAKING NEWS: JEFF IS A BEAR AND HE'S NOT, I REPEAT, HE IS NOT HOOKING UP WITH A TWINK.

*GASP*

I felt a great disturbance while reading this. Isn't this a sign of the Armageddon?

The first couple of chapters I kept thinking, 'You shouldn't be liking this guy. He's kind of douche-y'. But I did. I always did. Jeff's a working class dude (sorry, bloke) who's blunt, crass, unpolished and exceedingly preoccupied with society's view of him. He's socially awkward and, I admit, I felt sorry for him. Poor thing. Realizing he's attracted to another bloke blows his worldview out of the water. What will the blokes down the pub think? (Look how English I sound!) But Eddie is a force to be reckoned with.

"Was it possible for your dick to be gay, even if the rest of you wasn't?"

Ordinarily, I'm not a fan of topping from the bottom but this is for training purposes, so Eddie gets a bye. Eddie, in contrast to Jeff, is completely comfortable in his skin. He knows who and what he is and isn't ashamed. He slowly shifts Jeff's perceptions sensibly and with humor. Actually, they both made me chuckle frequently.

The kink to relationship ratio was perfect, in my opinion. Woof! I could read about them ALL DAY, BABY! Eddie's masochism and Jeff's sadism are a beautiful (and oftentimes awkwardly humorous) sight to behold. Jeff has sadistic compulsions but lacks confidence and his previous attempts at being "Sir Bastard" have… not gone well. He's gruff, a bit standoffish and doesn't take criticism well which has not endeared him within the local kink community. Still, I was a bit disappointed that his dominant friends didn't volunteer to mentor him. I was also fussy that neither of these two kinksters were into chastity. I think Jeff in particular would like this sort of control.

*inappropriate and enthusiastic eyebrow waggle*

There was a minor continuity error early on and possible spelling errors. Do the Brits spell judgment with two 'E's? Hell, I don't know. It's like their English is a foreign language with their extra 'U's, H-erbs, posh birds and pork scratchings. I like the usage of 'bird', by the way. I should probably be insulted, but it's kinda cute at the same time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style and would rec this to fans of GFY and romantic kink. Looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I just realized today that ARC reviews actually make me not read the book. I get all excited by them, go to buy, and it's not released yet. So I buy something else, and by the time it's available to the public the title has dropped off my radar :(

This story opens with Jeff as a man who has recently left his long-term bland straight relationship and discovered his desire for the Dom and Sadist sides of BDSM. Unfortunately, he's not very empathic, and is a bit of a self-centered jerk. His rushed approach toward BDSM and sex with women has brought him nothing much except unsatisfying and cut-short encounters, and a fair bit of rejection. Part of that is choosing the wrong partners, part because female subs who do want his level of SM are in demand, and no doubt can do better than a clumsy and inexperienced Dom who is very focused on his own wants and needs at this early stage of his discovery. So he's alone, frustrated, and confused.

I really liked that Jeff began the story as a less than sympathetic character. It felt real, because here was a man who had compressed himself and his needs for a long time to fit into a dying relationship. So once he was free, his libido kind of exploded beyond those boundaries and he's very self-absorbed. He's not particularly smart, he's not great with people, he's not that introspective, and he's impatient. Sound like anyone you've actually met? It did to me.

Eddie is gay, a sub, a pain slut and very easy-going and self-confident. He has a thing for a bit of rough in a Dom, and the idea of teaching someone flatters his ego. He also loves sex, and has an attitude that rides past the question of training a straight Dom with the thought that any guy will enjoy sexual opportunities and contact, even from the wrong gender. A blow job is a blow job, and even better after a good spanking.

Jeff is frustrated enough to take Eddie up on his offer of teaching him, and finds that some of the mistakes he made that scared off women, from being too crude to being too rough, don't bother Eddie at all. He realizes that having a male sub has advantages in his early fumbling. And the blow jobs really are damned good. But he still thinks of this as a way to become more likely to succeed in finding a woman to sub for him.

I liked the build to the relationship. It was a bit fast, given Jeff's staunch and unquestioning heterosexuality at the beginning, and the degree of shift that happens. I believed it better on the sexual side than on the emotional side. Still, I could accept that they would get there eventually, so it was just the timing that was tight.

The characters were excellent; the changes in Jeff to take him from jerk to plausible romance hero were not too extreme to be believable over all. Eddie's humor, his confidence, and the way taking Jeff as his Dom became more than just an amusing interlude, worked well. The secondary characters helped round out the story, and the sex was kinky, hot, and fit the characters. There was a bit of humiliation kink, which is one of my less-favorite things, but in this case it didn't go past what I was fine with (although there were a couple of discussions that hinted that way.) BDSM is hit or miss with me, but this was one of the good ones, lighter than most, with humor and affection more than angst and passion. I was convinced, by the end, that these two guys fit together well.

So, I'm basically just going to throw all the stars at this deliciously filthy and sweet little number.

So, Jeff knows what he knows and that’s all that he knows. Poor guy can’t help that the only real exposure into the world of kink that he loves is via the internet. I mean really, what kind of reality is that? I’d love to believe that all the beautiful scenes I see in porn are all real, but when you take off the rainbow glasses it has very little resemblance to reality. Jeff’s pride may keep him from admitting he needs guidance out loud, but he knows. He may be uneducated and prideful, but he isn’t stupid. And that’s what I really liked about him. He’s really a pretty simple guy who says what he feels. It may end up awkward and not come out quite right (I could totally see why he had trouble talking to women) but, regardless of his kink, he wouldn’t hurt someone on purpose. You know what I mean.

It’s a good thing Jeff’s friends know what he needs and they know he needs Eddie. Eddie knows Jeff needs Eddie. He just has to convince Jeff. Eddie is a complete charmer and a total sweetheart so it doesn’t take him long to convince Jeff to literally take a crack at him, which Jeff enjoys very much. His dick especially enjoys it and as their lessons continue, his dick gets more and more enthused and then WHAM -------> feeeeeeeeelings. I really couldn’t blame either of them for speaking up about said feelings sooner, they basically had a pinkie swear agreement about the lessons and who wants to be the guy to broach the subject of busting up a pinkie swear?

So, this book has two unique and likable (in their own evolving way) MC’s. It also has some of the most delicious filth I’ve read. Damn, the lessons are steaming hot and they got hotter as the story progressed. You know why? Feeeeeeeeeeelings. Feelings always make the sex better. Not that I don’t enjoy a good PWP, but when an author can bring the dirty and marry it with a great story and memorable characters, you’ve got yourself an excellent read with LOTS of highlighting.

Jeff’s inner musings and bargaining amused me greatly.

“No, touching another man’s arse was definitely gay. No two ways about it. Unless he was just experimenting. Yeah. Experimenting was okay. That didn’t mean anything, did it? Lots of people experimented with stuff. Jeff had once had a guitar lesson, but that didn’t make him a musician, did it?”

Oh Jeff. In this case, yes it does. But, what can I say I’m a sucker for an enlightened everyman and the beautiful man who enlightens him.

Told with wit and style, this is a highly recommended sweet and dirty read.

A Heartwarming BDSM Love story. Really!!

Who would have ever thought a BDSM could be as sweet and gooey as pie? Well, this one was, and piping hot out of the oven with lots of steamy and sexy deliciousness.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! It made me laugh, gush, heat up, and want to hug and spank these tasty boys.

Jeff is a new Dom looking for a female sub--but no one will have him. He's a bit of a stubborn bonehead. Eddie is a painslut who convinces Jeff to take him up on training sessions so he can have a taste of the hottie landscaper. One tie leads another and soon Jeff is questioning his attraction to Eddie whilst Eddie wonders at his deepening feelings for Jeff.

Hot sex, honest talks, and courage lead these two guys to love and a hog-tied HEA.

Well now, it would appear I do have a review in me, after all….

It’s fair to say that I understand how many reviewers enjoyed this – it’s a perfect blend of BDSM, humiliation, with a cute little GFY romance trope thrown in to round it all off rather nicely. What’s more, is that this unapologetically pushes the ‘BDSM’ boundaries; it doesn't fall onto the safety net that most BDSM stories fall onto, so props to Josephine Myles for the courage to go beyond that.

I admit that I’m not necessarily a fan of most BDSM stories; it’s not my kink, but I’d be lying if I said there weren't a handful of these stories I appreciated.

Where I take issue, however, is with the ridiculous ‘Britishness' of this story. It tries too fucking hard to deliver some tasty stereotypical representations on a plate so that our dear readers can coo and proclaim that the writing and the characters are adoringly British. Honestly? Every word that has been written makes my eyeballs bleed. Except a couple of dirty ones, but that’s because I’ve got a one-track mind most of the time.

I can probably spend a great deal of time going into the overuse of words like ‘bloke’ (because all British people say the word 'bloke' twenty times in one sentence… *eyeroll*) and laughable other phrases but my biggest problem with this is the class distinction. Yes. You are correct, Ms Myles – all wealthy middle to upper class people shop at Marks & Spencer and eat posh olives; all working class people buy the Daily Mail. I can’t even begin to spew enough vitriol at the fact that the Jeff is portrayed as being simple – a working class lad with little emotion and even less brains - in contrast to Eddie’s patronisingly superior persona. I feel like this level of hyperbole – despite being almost farcical - reinforces certain misconceptions and drives me a little insane. Obviously – if this review is anything to go by.

Hmm, this was almost cathartic; time to head to the nearest pub, take a copy of The Sun with me and drink a pint with my mates.

Although I liked this book, I didn't love it like most readers did. It is very well written and the story itself is fresh and original, but for some reason it failed to hold my attention.

Josephine Myles is a stellar writer. I love that the stories she delivers are light hearted and funny, although they had the potential to go down a dark road. And so very British!

Jeff is a working class man. He's kind of blunt, and that is why he, sometimes, comes across like a douchebag. He wants to explore his dominant side but can't find a willing partner. Poor thing... The only one who is available is Eddie, who insists on teaching Jeff a thing or two. So what if Jeff is as straight as they come, and Eddie is a dude? It doesn't make him gay, right? Riiiight.....

Eddie is nothing like Jeff. He's unapologetic, confident, and a complete pain slut. He's the perfect sub for Jeff to practise on. But, as expected, the lines begin to blur after a while and Eddie finds himself totally in love with Jeff.

I liked Jeff and Eddie seperately and I loved their snarky banter. And that's about it.

I didn't feel any particular connection between them. Sure, the sex was hot but that's all it was. No emotion, more like sex sessions.

Eddie's hissy fit when Jeff tried to keep their "relationship" secret was a little bit too much, in my opinion. Give the man some time! He had NEVER been interested in a man before!

And although I'm normally fine with a little humiliation , I could have done without Jeff calling Eddie "bitch" all the time. Even when they were not having sex.

If you 're a fan of this author, chances are that you 'll like this story. Although, it isn't my favorite from Josephine Myles, I did like parts of it.

I’ve come to realise that for me to enjoy reading a story which includes BDSM, I have a list of likes and limits just like practioners :P

I do not for example enjoy reading it for it’s own sake, as it is not a personal kink choice for me, however I don’t mind reading if it is part of a good realistic story with real people as protagonists, with normal backgrounds, normal problems, who make mistakes, who are able to joke, tease and laugh. What I dislike are strictly structured procedural perfect doms, usually with very mobile eyebrows and awed submissives.

So I was quite happy to read about awkward Jeff who turned into Sir Bastard and charming Eddie. A good, sometimes funny, sometimes serious story with easy flow, banter and excellent character dynamics. My only small niggle is that it was mentioned several times that Jeff was good for Eddie because he would not let him manipulate him. I missed seeing this, would rather have seen it rather than told it. Otherwise it was happy times as the story ticked my like boxes quite a lot.

Dirty, kinky fun. I really enjoyed this book. Jeff is a bit of a jerk, rough around the edges. He just wants to find a woman he can spank and dominate. If only they didn't all run screaming before the good stuff got going. Pain slut Eddie could be just the man to teach Jeff what he needs to learn. Too bad Jeff is staunchly straight. That's OK because Eddie likes a challenge. He also is mouthy, snarky and tops from the bottom. What's not to love.

It was fun watching Jeff's straight walls come slowly tumbling down. The two men forged a bond before Jeff even knew he was falling for the man. A few missteps occurred along the way, but mostly the book was lighthearted with plenty of dirty talk and kink.

Sorry, got fed up of this one after a while, just lost interest. There was no connection between the two MC's for me, I didn't like them much either, so although there were some of Jo's customary funny one liners, it wasn't enough to hold my interest.

This story has earnt every, single star. Oh, wow. Review with some other Unicorns coming soon @ BMBR.

Where do I start? Well actually I'm going to dive right in and tell you what I loved most about this story and that was Jeff. Jeff our Dom who needs to be trained. I loved him.

This man is a blokey bloke. He's a manual worker who calls a spade a spade (yep, right up my street) and freshly out of a (straight, vanilla) relationship and wanting to explore his dominant side. Unfortunately for Jeff he has a bit to learn in the ways of being a dom - manners and etiquette anyone? - and he's having a hard time finding a sub to practice with. The females he knows, even from the fetish club, just aren't digging him. And that's where Eddie comes in (and I'll talk about him more in a minute), he offers to be Jeff's sub and teach Jeff how to be a dom.

Of course there is a catch, Jeff isn't gay. A mantra he says repeatedly for a good portion of the book - and this is why I loved him so much. No, not because of the claiming not to be gay, but because his actions didn't always follow what he was saying. He fell for Eddie hook, line and sinker (or cane, rope and dildo) and we got to watch him ....ssshhh....fall in love. Be still my beating heart. This man, dominant and gruff was actually as soft as marshmallow on the inside. He cared about Eddie. He listened to what Eddie was telling him - be it him needing a hug, spank, cloth or food. He LISTENED. *Swooning* Even when it went against his ...well, not his instincts, but what he thought he wanted, he still listened.

The bit that really got me about Jeff? When he realised he was miserable without Eddie, he didn't try to second guess, he didn't try and deny, he admitted his feelings and went with it. I absolutely loved this man.

That's not too say that Eddie wasn't an equally wonderful character. He was, he really, really was. Patient, funny, and absolutely adorable. He was also hot and submissive and so damn yum. Eddie was the perfect sub to Jeff's dom. The perfect teacher. The perfect partner.

Josephine Myles is an amazing author. There is nothing stereo-typical about her characters and for that I am supremely grateful. Jeff is a bear of a man, who likes to dominate in his sex life. That didn't mean he was a leather-daddy blah, blah, blah. He was a normal bloke who liked a certain type of spice in the bedroom. The same goes for Eddie. He could easily have been a stereotypical gay twink submissive - yet he was anything but. Cheeky and endearing, he was the kind of chap you'd meet up the pub and want as your mate. I loved all the characters in this book...not a stereotype in sight (thank you muchly Ms Myles).

I'm sure every other review of this book has told you how hot the hotness was. Well guess what - it was HOT! Caning, kilts, humiliation, pin-wheels, ropes, cock-rings and dildos...they're all there. But they're all there with feels and though this book is about a sub and his dom - it is about so much more than a sub and a dom.

My advice to you is to read it. READ IT NOW PEEPS. And guess what - you can, because today is release day!! Whoo hoo!!!

This was one smokin story ... I adored Eddie and his view on life ❤️❤️❤️ he did a brilliant job of training Jeff BUT I did not like some of the Dom terms that he used ... Calling Eddie a bitch annoyed the living hell out of me - it wasn't he humiliation aspect or the demeaning words, it's just that one didn't match Eddie in any way - Jeff had so many more options !!! For this reason I got frustrated and I wanted to strangle Jeff. On the positive side, Jeff deciding he was bi and coming out to his family was great !

**** 4,5 Sir Bastard stars ****

Jeff is newly single after his fourteen year old relationship with his girlfriend ended. They got together young, and was the only relationship, in every way, Jeff has ever had. Being an free agent after so many years, he's eager to act on the feelings he's suppressed for a long time, since his ex girlfriend definitely wasn't interested in his dominating and sadistic inclination. Jeff wants a submissive, one he can dominate and inflict pain on. He wants someone experienced who can show him the ropes, so to speak.

All his life he has heard he has got to be a M-A-N, an expectation especially from his father. Pleasing his father, clashes with what Jeff really wants. Jeff loves working with gardening, nurturing plants and flowers instead of working with brick and mortar which is his day to day job. Because a MAN has to have a hard labor's work, right? And like pussy, right? Definitely not some fancy posh gardening stuff, according to his father.

Jeff has had some problems getting submissive willing to work with him, though. They were willing enough in the beginning, due to his big, burly and gruff build and demeanor, but ever since "the incident" he hasn't had much luck. Jeff's good friend, Niall, wants to help him finding his footing and confidence as a Dom. Well, he gets talked into suggesting an idea by Eddie. Why not try a male sub?

"I think Niall's already mentioned my offer to you."
Jeff folded his arms. "He has. And I told him where you could shove it."
"Excellent. I can see you're thinking about anal play already."

Eddie is an easy going, bratty, and most importantly, an experienced sub, looking for a Dom to submit to, but also control him and keep him in place. Eddie is a handful, and a masochist.

"... I don't want speaking unless I'm doing something wrong or dangerous. You got that?"
"I hear you, Sir, but you should probably know I'm fairly disobedi-ow!"
Jeff had flicked the flogger harder this time."

He wants a sadist Dom who can give him the pain he covets. Seeing Jeff for the first time he know Jeff can give it to him. Jeff on the other hand wants someone to show him the ins and outs, so they could help each other out. It's just, Jeff is straight. One-hundred-percent, never-gonna-happen straight. Right?

Eddie promises to tutor Jeff in all things BDSM-y through five sessions, starting with Jeff wanting to spank, whip, cane and more Eddie's ass, and Eddie can't bend over fast enough.

They find they are very compatible. Except for the gay thing.

"Was it possible for your dick to be gay, even if the rest of you wasn't?"

Slowly, but surely Eddie gets Jeff to try new things, and Jeff finds he enjoys them, and Eddie. A lot. The sessions increases in hotness, but also in feelings.

I loved both Jeff and Eddie's, and their interactions! I loved being inside Jeff's mind, his thoughts and struggles trying to find himself and his Dom-self. I loved the quick change that came over Jeff when he "went Dom". He went from awkward and a little lost due to inexperience, to BAM!, dominating Eddie's ass and putting him in his place. He really had the Dom thing down! In the beginning I had a little problem with Jeff using names like "bitch" and "slut" when referring to Eddie, when he was submitting. However, as I got to know Jeff and Eddie, it fitted, so I wasn't bothered by it anymore. Eddie is fun, and he really enjoyed submitting to Eddie. I loved being inside his head too.

Josephine Myles's writing is excellent, and she manages to capture the essence of Jeff and Eddie and show it through her description and dialogue.

There was a sweet epilogue too. I'm not usually fond of epilogues, preferring to make up my own future for the characters, unless the epilogue fits. And it really did here! I loved meeting up with on last romp with the guys before I left them.

All the love for Sir Bastard and Eddie!

"You total fucking bastard."
"That's Sir Bastard to you."

Just one question, though. Dick-swirled beer? That's... that's a thing?

How To Train Your Dragon, but a little bit different..

description

I can understand how some people love this book. It’s pretty funny and Eddie is a very likable MC. But Jeff…. I just can’t take any more.

This book revolves around Jeff and how to make him a better Dom. Eddie is more than willing to help, but he has to convince Jeff, because Jeff is straight….…

This is definitely a training guide with some funny moments. My main reason for DNF-ing this is because things like this are a NOT SEXY to me:

“Mmm, you know if you were gay, you’d definitely be a bear. Love all the hair.” Jeff snorted. “There’s more of it on my body than there is on my head. Sarah used to say I didn’t need to wear clothes because I was already covered in a fur coat.”

description

He’d have to straddle Eddie’s head. “Let go of the chair.” Eddie obeyed, and Jeff shoved it away. Yeah, he wanted to be able to watch Eddie choking on a great big mouthful of bollocks. His bollocks. Fuck, yeah.

Yeah, that was the stuff. Jeff used his cock like a club, battering Eddie’s face. Claiming it.

Funny, but not really for me..

I think this is my filthiest book to date (yes, even filthier than The Hot Floor), but it's also a lot of fun and is my attempt to turn some of the BDSM fiction cliches on their head. Writing an inexperienced and somewhat accident prone Dom being trained by a smart and sassy sub was great fun. Even more fun when you factor in that Jeff the Dom isn't gay, and his sub Eddie most definitely is!

It's out on September 23rd, and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon and Samhain. If you want spoilers for the type of kink included then please PM me :)

DNF at 64%.

Technical, procedural BDSM and dirty talk that's uninspired and uninteresting.

Also features a blink and you'll miss it GFY...as in Jeff was straight for all of 5% of the book.

Last nail in the coffin for reading anything by this author.

I regret buying this.

It wouldn't mean he was gay or anything.
Just little bit bi.

My first impression is, Jeff's constant denials about his sexuality, annoyed me a lot.

I know this is a GFY and BDSM shit.
But both didn't work for me.
In my opinion, Jeff is just a cute little kitty who's having a new toy.
A cute little insecure kitty with a mask of a Dom.
But the real Dom is, actually, Eddie.

Like it or not,I have to compare this one with "How to Train Your Dragon.
a.k.a. How to 'tame' your Dragon.
It's the same pattern I guess.
Jeff tried to tame Eddie, the Sub. But ended with, Eddie tamed Jeff instead. LOL
The sex was hot but overrated, and too much. Or maybe I'm just not that kinky and not really into BDSM. Shrug.

I liked to know about the relationship, and curious about how Eddie taming Jeff, maybe that's why I finished this book after all. I skipped some sex scene because it's bored me as fuck, but the story's quite good.

If you're into BDSM, love kinky stuff, and long and repetitive sex details, this book is definitely for you.
But I was bored and struggled finishing this one.

Guess, this is just not my cuppa.

4.5 pervy stars :P

Jeff was a complete wanker. Rude, arrogant, so concerned about being "manly" that I could barely stand him on page.
But, then...then Jeff started getting feelings.
Sexy feelings. He started thinking about Eddie and the things he'd like to do to Eddie or make Eddie do to him.

:P

Oh, yeah. *nods*

Hot. Hot. Hot. *fans self*

Yes, Jeff took to kinky bed play with Eddie like a duck takes to water and the more into he got, the more I liked him. It was like he found his place and didn't want to leave it. Ever. He gave Eddie exactly what he needed, and loved every minute of it. His awe at having a partner who matched him so well, and who trusted him so much, was sweet. He knew how special that was. He wasn't perfect by any means, and there were a few stumbles on the way, but that made it even better.

That said, humiliation isn't for me, so this was an uncomfortable read at times, but there was no denying how much Eddie got off on it. His reactions definitely got me going.

I heart Eddie.
So much.

Lots of pervy deliciousness in this one. I was happy :)

This was fun and filthy and somehow adorable at the same time... Jeff's bumpling, stumbling foray into being a dom is fantastic. And I defy anyone to not absolutely love Eddie....

Jeff is a newbie dom, unable to find a suitable sub after some embarrassing incidents on his first try... Turns out the local fetish community are as gossippy as old ladies, and none of the female subs want to play with him.

Eddie is a very experienced and easy going pain slut, who doesn't see Jeffs being straight as a big issue, as he offers to train the man as a dom.

The guys are great together. Jeffs internal monologuing about the perceived gayness of each sexual act is hilarious and his attempts to solidify his straightness after the first encounters made me laugh out loud.... But hilarity and kinky sex aside, behind it all there is a very sweet story about finding and being true to yourself....

Very enjoyable and recommendable read, if you like kink. Pain is not normally a kink of mine, but this was delicious all the same - because Ms. Myles is so talented that she can make anything hot, even if it wouldn't normally turn my crank.

4.5 stars!

Cuuuuuuuuuuuute!

I can't believe I liked this so much. Fantastic writing, hilarious and adorable characters. Obviously, super-duper sexy. Maybe I skimmed a TINY bit of the sexy parts. There are just so many!
Some stuff I'm definitely not into, but enjoyed reading about nonetheless.

Great read! I am happy I gave it a shot. :)
