Cherise Robinson goes to a college party at the urging of her dorm-mate, Janet. Always the shy girl, she usually avoids situations that only heighten her invisibility. This evening, however, for a brief moment she is made to feel like Cinderella by the football star, Tyrone Wheeler. But something goes horribly wrong, resulting in a complete change in her life. She now wonders if she will ever regain control of her life again.
"Redemptive Acts 1 & 2" by Nikki Walker was a story that you can only think of as awesome after the read. These are a two series read. This author really was able to give the reader a sense of 'forgiveness and then redemption and faith into the lives of her characters.' The story was of Cherise ...after attending a frat party and meeting a football star, Tyrone...her life changes.. more like a nightmare however, through it all the Bible gives her strength and guidance. Then Tyrone's twin brother Jonathan offers to give her something that she never thought she would have....a contract? Could Cherise really do this... was this just for her baby? Ms. Walker did a wonderful job at bringing the story all out to the reader...illustrating the many issues that are presented to someone in Cherise's position. This author gave the reader us a journey that you will only have to pick up these good reads to see what all will happen between the two...Cherise and Jonathan. Will this become a endearing relationship between these two people? "Redemptive Acts 1 & 2" will present to you two amazing stories that will only keep you turning the pages until the end and oh what a ending!
Cherise was a shy, promising college student until something traumatic happened. In one instant she found herself in a compromising situation and face to face with her attacker. When it seemed like she couldn’t trust anyone else, she found help in the unlikeliest of sources. Redemptive Acts is a story that is as beautiful as it is heart wrenching.
The story unfolded for me a bit too quickly. The book itself was separated into two parts. There were no glaring loopholes or plot holes that needed to be fixed, but there were times I felts the story could have used more embellishment. I found the characters to be true to face. They were believable and very realistic. This is not a Cinderella tale of someone who was lost and found but a story of two people who use each other to redeem a piece of themselves life had taken away. I think that most people can find something relatable in the story. The main characters have a natural attraction that leaps off the page. The romantic attraction is palpable. Even in their uncertainty, the tension can be felt by the reader. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Where most writers lack is making their writing flow. Walker does not have this problem. There is a natural progression from one scene to the next in the books. There are a few grammatical errors and some places where the characters POV switches but this is overall less than 5% of the book. The book will elicit emotion, be prepared. How it affects the reader is very different. Overall I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes romance novels. It’s heartwarming and very endearing. I gave this book Four Leaves because its good but it didn’t grasp me as something I NEEDED to have on my book shelf. I am happy it’s there and still will happily read it again.
My BFF loaned this to me after reading it and really liking it. Well, I read Parts 1 & 2 (why two parts?) on Monday, and I'm still not sure how I feel about this story. It had the potential to be really good, but I feel like it was too short and left more questions than answers. I was totally confused by Tyrone and the actions he claimed to have taken the day after the incident. He knew she was the one that quickly?? And he continued to think of her as his woman? And I could never understand if Tyrone was nuts, or if he was just a spoiled young man who was used to having his way.
I liked Cherise, but she was sooo naive and innocent, that I really couldn't connect with her. Although she went through a lot, she was saved so completely by Johnathon, that the story was almost too perfect. It was a little wild, too, that Johnathon was so taken with Cherise that he believed her and was ready to go against his brother and his family. He was a really good guy, but almost too good.
Now that I've said all that, I would definitely read something else by this author. As I said earlier, this story had the potential to be really good, and I would love to see her flesh it out and make it feel a little more complete. I hope that my comments don't discourage anyone else from reading, because it defintely has a message of hope, faith and overcoming the odds.
p.s. Was Nia Forrester's book Commitment really turned into a movie? If so, I need to see it! Lemme see what I can find out...
This is a really sweet story of how something bad can turn in to something beautiful. Cherise and Jon met under terrible circumstances but they ended up falling very much in love and it was really sweet the way the story is written. I found myself smiling at them the way Jon took care of her it was obvious he loved her from the beginning. I would have liked to have read more about this couple but this was a nice short read.
I read Redemptive Acts Parts I & II by Nikki Walker and gave it 5 stars. I had no idea what to expect after that beginning Nikki, but I was thoroughly satisfied upon reading the words, "The End". This was a soul searching story that had me crying and smiling throughout the read. BTW, the 13th chapter of I Corinthians I one of my favorites in its entirety. Great job as always Nikki!
