Texas Ranger Sarah Osborn thought she would never see her high school sweetheart, Ian O'Leary, again. But fifteen years later, Ian, an ex-FBI agent, has someone targeting him, and she's assigned to the case. Can Sarah protect Ian and her heart?

This 2nd book story line was was okay. Sarah & Ian's character was okay. The ending was okay. I struggled to finish this one because I thought it was kind of boring.
Full of strong characters, lots of suspense and action, and a wonderful romance, Deadly Intent packs a whole lot of story into an easy to read novella! I love it when authors are able to create a full and enjoyable tale in novella form. That is what Margaret Daley was able to do with this story.
Sarah and Ian are the main characters. They have a really interesting back story and both ended up going into different areas of law enforcement when they went their separate ways. Sarah was left broken-hearted years earlier, but now Ian is back. This makes for excellent tension and sets the stage for a very fulfilling rekindling of their romance. I thoroughly enjoyed Deadly Intent from start to finish and highly recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of this novella from the author in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.
Deadly Intent is a book in the Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations series. Deadly Intent is written by Margaret Daley who is known for a great romantic suspense with Christian undertones. Sarah is a Texas Ranger and she is investigating a cattle rustling scheme. Ian's has a horse stolen and cattle killed which brings Sarah in to investigate. Ian is a retired FBI agent who is now a rancher. He is not exactly helpless in the situation. It was fun having Sarah, the female be the lead on an investigation with the male being the victim. The author did a fabulous job of highlighting Sarah's strengths while still keeping Ian a strong male to balance her. I recommend this short romantic suspense with a faith element. Sarah is a Texas Ranger assigned to investigate a theft of a horse Little did he know the owner is her ex boyfriend who walked out on her to join the FBI. Just as she starts her investigation other crimes are happening on the same ranch. Just when she admits that she still love Ian he is almost killed.
This is a Romantic Suspense that is easy to read in a few hours. I was a bit disappointed with the lead male character; for an ex-FBI agent with so many years of experience, Ian doesn't come across as strong as I wish he would.
I read this a while back on kindle as part of a three-book bundle. I didn't particularly remember this one. As the first one stood out to me more. (I also don't really remember the last book in that bundle either.) In any case, I found this on Audible and decided "why not" it's cheap. The narrator did okay. But her pace was a bit slow. So I don't think the story was as action pack/suspenseful as it could have been. I mean this is happening within the course of few days ( I think) but you don't get a sense of time, rushing by, of events escalating, of danger getting ever closer. And our MCs were generic as well. Neither one really stood out to me. ( which is probably why I don't necessarily remember this book all that well.) So is this book recommended? eh, sure it's a quick easy read/listen Buy/borrow? borrow
I am not that big a fan of Christian fiction but this series caught my attention when book one was offered free. I loved the strong woman theme where she saves him instead of the opposite. Sarah Osborn is a Texas Ranger who has a history with Ian O'Leary. Ian has returned after breaking Sarah's heart 16 years ago. Sarah just wants to stay clear of Ian but when danger arrives she is the one who has to protect him. A great story line with two interesting characters. I will be checking out other books in the series to see if they do as good a job of portraying strong women.
Sarah and Ian had been high school sweethearts. They grew apart and had not seen one another for several years--not since he had left her to go to college. Then Ian called Sarah and told her that someone had stolen his prized horse--a black stallion. Sarah worked in law enforcement and went immediately to Ian's ranch. Will they be able to find and recover the stallion? Will they get past the awkwardness of their past and work together to get the horse back? Read this book to get the answers. I hope you enjoy the book--I did!
Another intense drama about a female Texas Ranger who is sent to protect a rancher. What she finds is the man who broke her heart fifteen years ago. Ian is ex- FBI and now is a rancher who also trains horses. Someone is stalking him and trying to destroy not only his animals but also damaging his property. This is a very personal attack with the goal finally kill him. A fast moving story loaded with suspense and intrigue.
"Deadly Intent" was difficult to put down. A quick read, with lots of suspense and cute characters. A second chance at forever love was just what Ian and Sarah needed, and found it in the midst of the mystery surrounding Shamrock Ranch. Very good. Highly recommend if you like a little romance with your suspense.
Intense, clean mystery including a sweet, romantic love story with lost love bring found among the horses, the cattle, the rolling ranch and a handsome cowby. Sarah is strong, determined, a quick thinker and she is also THE LAW.
i loved this story and plan to go on to read book 3 in this Strong Women series.
An ex FBI agent and a Texas Ranger must solve the deliberate acts of ill intent happening on his ranch while dealing with the feelings from of a previous relationship years ago. Danger of death has not taken a holiday.
This is a very short book, but it still had a good mystery and lots of action. Even though this was a second-chance romance, it still seemed a little rushed. But the storyline was so good, it didn't detract from my enjoyment.
Wow! Someone is trying to destroy his ranch. A Texas Ranger is brought in to help with the case and she turns out to be his childhood sweetheart. Fast paced romantic suspense.
I loved this book. It was easy to read with a great plot and great characters. It had a great mystery with a great love story involved. I will be reading more of this author's books for sure!
I loved this one. How they didn't forget about each other, no katter how many years passed. Sarah was bad*ss, loved her. And Ian, realizing tge mistake he made and trying to make up for it
This was another fast-paced suspense filled with action. The main characters shared a past, and I enjoyed this history which made the fast-moving romance feel more realistic.
Margaret Daley brings us a suspense interlaced with a romance. I loved everything about this story. She introduces us to strong, well developed characters. We are introduced to Sarah Osborn, a Texas Ranger, who has been called in on a case involving a stolen prize stallion. She has been avoiding Ian O'Leary for a few months, but with the theft being his horse and on Shamrock Ranch avoiding him was no longer an option. Oh, she had forgiven him for putting his career before their relationship and walking away from her, but forgetting the feelings tucked deep in her heart was more than she could do. Ian O'Leary, a former FBI agent in Huston, was angry at the theft of his prize stallion, but nothing prepared him for seeing Sarah again or the overwhelming emotions he felt. He was not accustomed to stepping back during an investigation, but suddenly as things begin to escalate and with Sarah being in charge and putting herself in danger because of him was taking it's toll on him. A wonderfully written story that will pull the reader in and keep them turning the pages. Great use of imagery. The message I received from the story is one that a person must let go and let God lead and trust he knows what is best for us. Not only does the author bring us a good story, but she always includes a message that can be applied to our own lives. I received this book as a gift in return for a review without outside influence or bias as stated above.
