Marlo finds a missing watcher and now it’s up to Lucie and Owen to go undercover to pull her out, if she’s even still alive. They find themselves thrown into the world of human trafficking and are afraid they won’t make it out alive. Caged, drugged and confused, they lose sight of their mission. Then they must face the truth about darkness and light or is it all shades of gray? How will they save someone else if they can’t even save themselves? Sometimes you have to do truly horrible things for the greater good but then what does that make you? What do you become if you are just as malicious as the dark watcher you are supposed to be saving everyone from? White Eagle says that power is power, but Owen has absorbed dark watcher gifts. He can feel himself morphing and he’s pretty sure he’s nowhere near good anymore. What will two damaged watchers do now? Are you still good if you’ve been consumed by darkness? Owen will have to figure that out before it’s too late. He meets a mysterious stranger who has an interesting offer. Owen can’t decide if it’s worth the risk but it becomes more and more appealing as he is used again and again by both sides and now that he’s actually killed someone, who will save him?
My name is Lauren Lynne, and I’m an author. One great thing about being a grown-up is that I can write whatever I want. The only problem is I need my glasses to read it now! I’ve always felt like an adventurer at heart, but when things get risky, I’m usually the first to run away. That’s probably why I love suspense, intrigue, and action in books, movies, and my own writing. I grew up in Milwaukie, Oregon, and earned degrees in education from Oregon State University and Portland State University. I’ve always loved reading, but I started writing professionally more recently. I wrote The Secret Watchers series for my sons and my students. Now, I have fans from age 10 to 93, and that truly makes me happy. In 2017, I published my first children’s book and a dystopian adventure. I’m also working on a fantasy novel and two middle-grade stories. Writing for young readers and anyone young at heart suits me well because I love teaching curious minds, and honestly, I’m just a big kid who looks like an adult. I still come up with ideas with my friends, parents, and my sons, who have grown up while I’ve been writing. When I’m not writing, I spend time with friends and family, work with students, read, garden, bake, play with our silly dogs, or go hiking with my camera around the Puget Sound and the Oregon and Washington coast. I really enjoy photographing beautiful places. Some of my favorite books are Nancy Drew, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich, Ghost Hunters by Victoria Laurie, Abby Cooper Psychic Eye, cozy mysteries, Little House on the Prairie, Dragonlance, Heralds of Valdemar, and Alex Rider. These stories inspired me to write and publish The Secret Watchers series and other books. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. If you’re from the Pacific Northwest, you might recognize some of the places my characters visit. If I’ve experienced it, either in real life or online, it’s probably in my stories.
Another great read by this author. I may be a grandpa but I relate to this kid. I believe he has a lot to teach others. I've always loved adventure stories and even with the fantasy element it still grabbed me and held me captive from start to end. One complaint, I was up past my bed time reading.
Scarier and darker. Owen is at his best and worst. Come on back to the world of the Secret Watchers and find out who lives and who dies as the battle for good and evil continues!
Another fantastic addition to the series. So many twists and turns that you can't put it down! As always it leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for the next installment!
I really wanted to like this book but by the end I couldn't help but think that the author was just trying to stretch the books out so I would buy another. The Piper story seemed pointless and by the end of the book I didn't care what happened to Owen. Marlo and Alex are the only characters I care about anymore. Not sure if I will read book 5 since I don't see an end in sight.
