Murdoch Mafia #3

Tortured by the Knight: The Murdoch Mafia Series, Book 3

Rate this book
Knight

Pain.
Darkness.
That’s what my life is. Always has been.

Koby is the opposite.
Light and redemption.

She can see through to my tortured soul, see into the depths, the parts that want to torture her, remove the light from her eyes. Break her until she’s nothing just like me.

She thinks she can save me. Like there is something left to be salvaged.
She has no idea I’m not the white knight in her story, there is no happily ever after for us.

Koby

He was born to hate me.
I was born to hate him.
We are the modern-day Romeo and Juliet, both of us born into warring families.

I see the pain, darkness behind his eyes.

Will his darkness snuff out the light of my soul?
Or can I be the brightness that he so desperately needs?

I’m no princess, but right now I need to be saved, and I’ve just found my Knight.

I continue to be disappointed with the characters and the lack of consistency between their behaviors and reactions, yet the plot itself I don't dislike.

This book was soo good! It pulled me in from beginning to end and really held my attention. It is definitely on the darker side and a little darker than the first 2 books in the series. I loved watching these two come together and overcome the odds against them. Knight has closed himself off and only sees the darkness within himself but being drawn in to Koby sheds some light for him though he doesn't think it's enough. Koby is doing her best to keep her brother side and find freedom but she is keeping a lot of secrets and the Murdochs want to know. Knight is bound and determined to figure it out but he is also drawn to her in a way that he hasn't been to a woman since Christine. This story was a wild ride that was so much fun and angst. There was plenty of action and intrigue and this was just a great story. I can't wait to start the next book. It definitely leads in and I can't wait to catch up with Carlina and figure out what is going on with the potential inside man/mole.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Tortured By The Knight, the third book in Murdoch Mafia series by Samantha Barrett is a fabulous modern day Romeo and Juliet mafia style romances that was pure perfection!!

This is the story of Knight, our silent twin, and Koby the secretive mysterious woman from the last story that came in like a wrecking ball saving Ally, and if you thought the first two books were amazing you haven’t seen anything yet! These two are absolute fire with explosive chemistry galore!

Both Knight and Koby have had a hard life, each groomed by their families and tragedy in their own way, shaping them into the people they are today. Which are total BA fighters in their own way, and although the hate bees string between them from the very beginning, the attraction burns even brighter. When tragedy once again befalls them, and more enemies enter their lives, will they be able to both survive the darkness or will the end up losing it all?

In a world where two fierce characters are born on opposing sides, destined to hate each other, Koby and Knight's relationship should have been doomed from the start—with both of them living a dark and deadly lifestyle on warring sides—but dang was it beautifully explosive!!! The chemistry, the love/hate relationship and all the tension and angst between these two characters was absolute perfection!!! They will definitely suck you right into the dark depths of their story and hold you to the very end as both characters fight hard to fight their emotions, their past and fate itself.

If you like your stories dark and torturous, just like the MCs, then this is the one for you! Barrett is a mastermind at creating phenomenal, strong kick butt characters and crafting a story that will rip your heart out and destroy your soul and Knight and Koby’s story is no exception!

Review:

*Buckle up, because Tortured By The Knight by Samantha Barrett is a wild, fierce, and unapologetically bold read! With a blend of sharp wit, steamy romance, and dark intrigue, this novel keeps you hooked from the first page to the last. It's a perfect example of Barrett’s ability to weave intense drama with moments of biting humor and unforgettable characters.

The central relationship between the protagonists is equal parts fiery and tender, marked by moments of vulnerability and humor that give the story its unique charm. One of the standout moments is the hilarious and snarky line, "Bitch, please, your birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory!" This kind of sharp dialogue is sprinkled throughout the book, giving the characters a level of sass and attitude that makes them feel real and relatable. It also provides a fun contrast to the darker, more emotional moments in the story.

What sets Tortured By The Knight apart is its balance between romance, humor, and the deeper emotional stakes at play. The tension between the leads is palpable, and their chemistry practically leaps off the page. At the same time, Barrett doesn't shy away from exploring the inner turmoil and complexities of the characters, making their journey feel both intense and meaningful.

The novel’s pacing is fast, with plenty of twists and turns that keep you on edge. While some of the darker themes may be challenging for more sensitive readers, Barrett handles them with a deft touch, ensuring that the characters' growth and relationships remain at the forefront.

Overall, Tortured By The Knight is an entertaining and engrossing read with a perfect mix of sass, heart, and heat. If you enjoy your romance with a side of humor and a lot of passion, this book is definitely one to pick up!

These two were playful, and I absolutely loved it! Koby and her attitude were something else, and I was so here for it. I’ve loved Knight from the beginning—getting those glimpses of his tortured soul in the first two books had me desperate to know more. I was rooting so hard for him to finally get the girl, and let me tell you, the moment he started to surrender? I melted.
The tension between Koby and Knight was off the charts. That push and pull dynamic had me hooked and on the edge of my seat. Their chemistry was fiery, intense, and addictively fun to read. Samantha Barrett really knows how to deliver that thrilling Murdoch Mafia Family drama we’ve come to love.
This book was fast-paced, super easy to devour, and kept me completely gripped from start to finish. I love Samantha’s writing style—it flows effortlessly and always leaves you wanting more. And once again, she’s set up the next book perfectly. I’m already diving into Tempted by the Queen, book four in the series, because I simply can’t get enough.
If you’re into mafia romance with a tortured hero, a bold and sassy heroine, and all the fiery tension in between, you needthis book in your life.

**I was given a free copy of this book to read and review by Book Boyfriend Buzz reviews.**

TORTURED BY THE KNIGHT is the third installment of the ongoing Murdoch Mafia series. I don't feel this can be read as a stand alone and should be read in the order the author intended to get the full effect of each book and the characters. I found it to be daker and grittier than the others and I loved that about this read. (Read the trigger warnings if certain topics bother you!!)

Knight and Rook are twins. They aren't as involved in family matters but Knight as a dark history that keeps him in darker place than the rest of the brothers making him just as evil and sadistic as King. When Ally was found and brought Koby home with her, the Murdoch brothers were instantly suspicious of her and Knight was always lurking in the shadows watching. Something in Koby called to and calmed Knight in a way neither of them saw coming.

I loved the darker gritty aspect of this read. It hit all the boxes you need when you say a "dark mafia" read. I can't wait for what's next!!

I cannot put these books down!

The story line is phenomenal and the characters are so fierce and I love it so much.

I knew Knight's story was going to be a good one but I didn't see any of this coming!

Knight and Koby are so back and forth and the tension is real, as is the chemistry. I loved every bit of it.

I couldn't have predicted this book if I wanted to. There were so many twists and turns I was shook.

Knight deserves so much more than he allows himself. I know Christine really did a number on him but he destroyed me in the best way possible. I am always a sucker for the tortured soul and this poor man was my undoing! I couldn't get enough of him.

Koby was not what I expected at all. I knew her story had way more to it than what was given but I did not expect any of that. I was pleasantly surprised by most of this story.

This is the third book in the Murdoch Mafia series and so far I would say this one is my favorite. It's a Romeo and Juliet type of story with two characters who want to be together but are pressured by their families in different directions. Tortured by the Knight is the story of Knight and Koby. Knight is the quiet one that we really don't know too much about unless he wants us to know it and Koby is the woman who came in out of nowhere to assist with the rescue of Ally in Book 2.

These two should hate each other by all rights. In truth, they really live to hate each other and you know what they say about the line between love and hate. Even when they realize that there is more between them, they still seem to enjoy torturing each other. The tension and the buildup between these two is complete and utter perfection!

This is book three of @Samantha Murdoch Mafia series. This one pulled on the heart strings and a tear may have been shed..
I enjoyed this book, same as the others in this series, There are some dark and twisty moments and definitely some content that some should take into consideration so check those triggers warnings!

But this one left me with questions and I need to know the answers!! Someone pass me book 4!?

This was better than the first 2 books and I’ve seen writing improvement here and there
Do I think they can be better than that?yes yes

I’m not gonna stop reading the series just because u think it’s bad😂I have hope it will be better like this one was great

Still hated few things though:
1. I think the mmc being dicks is in their DNA hey😭they are shitty people hate how they treat Gage
2. Will never understand the concept of a 21 year old dating an 18 year old to some the age gap seems fine to me?it will never be fine I don’t have words to explain why so I won’t bother
3. I have mixed emotions about that torture sessions 😭I understand it was part of the plot and it made things interesting but you don’t do that someone you claim to love

I love the reverse age gap just hate that one of them is a teenager

Tortured by the Knight by Samantha Barrett is book 3 of the Murdoch Mafia series. It is the truly torturous story of Knight and Koby. She’s the enemy. Koby has a goal…and Knight is at the heart of it. Knight battles his own demos to battle. The scathing feelings between these two and the changes that ensue make this story a fascinating, heart-breaking, torturous trip into their devastated lives and tormented minds.

This story just tore my heart to shreds! The soul deep feelings these two endure…regarding their pasts, presents, and futures…make this a harrowing ride through the murky waters of their lives…and I was there for the painful ride!! Soooooooooo worth the read!!! The story will rip you apart and put you back together again!!! 5+++++++ stars!!!

Another slam dunk, knock outside the park, round all the bases, work of chefs Kiss perfection for Samantha Barrett.

I've read books 1-3 so far and I've LOVED every single one! They are page turners that have been taking up my last few days because I definitely didn't want to put these gems down.

Every single one of the brothers is magical perfection, I couldn't choose between them if I wanted to, but I have to say they clearly pick the BEST ladies possible for their personalities. Samantha did a fantastic job coming up with and writing this story.

Five stars are not enough for this series!

I received a free copy of the story from B3 and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Omg the love hate between Kody and Knight is to die for. Knight has to be my favorite male character from this series. You can really feel the hurt and betrayal that Christine did to him. The pain is so real. Then the way he feels about Kody from the beginning of the book to the end is swoom worthly. Then we get to Kody. The real reason she there and her true identity threw me for a loop. I really enjoyed how she did what she needed to do to survive. Her feelings for Knight is without a doubt true. The strength of the females characters are amazing. It sooo enjoyable to be able to see how everyone still becoming there true self through out the books. Bring on Car's book.

This book is the darkest of the three. Knight is really screwed up, he doesn’t know how to act with kindness, he only knows the dark. I was so mad at Rook, that idiot was so wrong and he ended up in trouble and everyone blaming Kory. What Knight did to Kory was so wrong! I liked how it ended and want to see the two of them in a good place. You get a big surprise when you find out who Kory really is. Now I want to see a book about Gage, he needs his own story and for the brothers to accept him. But first we need to find out what happens to Car. This is a good series but very dark. I received a free book and the views and opinions are my own.

Knight is always the quiet one of the family, but there are things he does that he’s family doesn’t know about. When Koby turns up with Ally after being taken something about her draws him in. He knows they know nothing about her, but he can’t stop the pull, following her.
There’s something about Knight that is dark, but Koby doesn’t know what it is, she’s drawn to him for some reason. With how guarded his family is about Koby, Knight know he should be cautious, instead he finds himself protecting her.
When the family finds out exactly who Koby is, will Knight push her away or will she get to keep her dark Knight.

🤯

I’m beginning to think Samantha lives for the reader’s tears because wtf was that?! Yet another amazing book in this series. Knight is a character that I have loved since book one. His backstory has slowly been explained as the series has gone on and you get to learn where his darkness has come from. Koby is a character that was introduced in the last book and I don’t think Knight could have found a better match for his darkness than her. Be warned this book will tear your heart out and mend it all at once. It does cover dark topics that may be triggering so please check the triggers.

Knight.

Twin.

Soldier.

And strangely, more and more intrigued by the Bratva princess imprisoned in their home.

Coby is a mystery, and he doesn’t trust her. He doesn’t trust ANY woman, and for good reason. That doesn’t mean he wont f&@$ her (of course, if you haven’t figured out the priorities of the Murdoch boys by book three, i can’t help you much)

So when she leaves with his brother instead of him one night… and the shiz hits the fan, what will Knight do?

Hint: its dark.

Check the triggers. Its dark, and its mafia so if you have things you can’t read about, check these first.

And we are HERE FOR IT.

I listened to the audio, and it was fabulous.

Tortured By The Knight is the third in The Murdoch Mafia series and focuses on Knight

Knight is the quiet one but as they say the quiet ones are the worst! And he’s the polar opposite to his twin Rook, who’s the life and soul of any party.

Koby is a mystery to them all when she arrived after helping Ally, but she too holds her secrets close, can two people who are swimming in the dark depths really find the light?

This embodies Knight:

“this is the place where you learn who I really am and that out of all my brothers I am the one you need to fear.”

Tortured by the Knight is the 3rd book in the Murdoch Mafia series by Samantha Barrett. I have to say that this book was definitely my favorite book in the series so far. The character development, emotions, and twists in this book just kept me on the edge of my seat. I really didn't want this story to end and can't wait for more of Knight and Koby in future books.

I absolutely loved Koby. She is such a strong FMC. Her story just pulled me right in and I loved that she wouldn't back down even to Bishop. Knight is probably my favorite MC in this series. There is just something about him that I absolutely love. He may be quiet but the darkness that is under the surface just worked so well with Koby. The dynamics between the two of them were hot!

I can't wait for more in this series. Each book seems to get better and better as the storyline develops.

Knight so far is my favourite Murdoch brother.

The dark twin. Rook and Knight are dark, however Knight is the hard dark mysterious dangerous twin.

The Dark Knight and Koby's journey was both sad and happy in equal parts.
Desperate dangerous and determined to win their battles are epic.

The chemistry between them both is intense. Both fighters inside and outside of the ring.
Beautifully explosive with extreme emotions as the storyline unfolds.
Her dark Knight his lightness and hopefully redemption if only they weren't to hate each other.
Highly recommended reading.

Needs an editor

The story is okay, but could us more development. The main storyline is a family falling in love and trying to take down the other mafia families. I've read the first two in this series as well. Each book in this series needs a better editor and alpha/beta readers. This book has 2-3 times the grammatical, continuity and other issues compared to the first two books. All of these issues can be solved with a good edit. Why do authors and "editors" continue to release books that are not ready for publication!?

Knight and Koby had an intense push/pull relationship. Although their families were enemies the attraction between the two were undeniable. Knight has dealt with a lot as a member of the Murdoch Family and the hits kept coming in this book.

Both Knight and Koby had rough upbringings being in warring Mafia families but somehow they made it work. When tragedy strikes and Knight is once again hit with a devastating blow the one person who could help bring him from the darkness was the Mafia princess he was suppose to h8te.

Tortured by the Knight is the third book in the Murdoch series by Samantha Barrett and just like book 1 - Bishop's story and book 2 - King's story, this one had me the same unable to put it down!

Knight and Koby's story is one that gets you, they have both had hard lives and they are both strong willed. The chemistry between these two is like damn!!!

These books just keep hooking me in! I am in love with these books.

These Murdoch boys!! Knight's story will break your heart, and there is no stopping it! This one is dark, painful, but absolutely amazing! Knight has always caught my attention from the first book in the series, and now that I have read his story, I understand him so much more. He is broken, dark, protective, and secretive. Koby is the perfect woman for him. She doesn't take his crap but also sooths his soul. Koby is the light for Knight in every way!

It's a good thing I don't have to wait for the next one or I'd be banging on your door, demanding to know what happens next. I don't know what I'm going to do when I run out of the Murdoch's 🥺

This is a push pull relationship between Knight and Koby. Their relationship is witty and strong headed. Their is so many things happening throughout this story that the hits against this family just keep coming. Knight has a very dark side and has had one bad experience with a woman. Koby is the light to Knight and he is very over protective of her. Their are so many pieces to the puzzle in this series that you will need to know as each story adds. Can’t wait to read next book.

Loved Knight

Awww another great book in the series, again with some triggers and violence. Who doesn't love a bad boy being turned into a loving soppy boyfriend who deep down has a heart of gold. Knight suffers a huge loss in this book and Koby is the one who actually ends up helping him. Despite her background and lies, she turns out to be a good egg. Another brilliant book that's a must read.

Dark Night & his Queen

Tortured by The Dark Knight, is Knight and Koby's story, if you are looking for a romantic mafia story, this is not your book. Samantha Barrett has the amazing skill to create pictures in your head with a few words, I am not sure I could stomach reading her books if Samantha Barrett decide to include all the glory details when torturing or raping a victim. Love the characters, love the secrets, love the drama, angst, action and passion this book brought.
