Hardship, pain, and strife describes life on Utopia, a mining colony far from Earth. Women are a rare commodity. When an alien trade ship arrives with a cargo containing a human woman, every man on Utopia shows up to bid. Three friends pool their funds in the hope they'll have a human woman in their beds to keep them warm on the long nights of the coming harsh winter.
Francesca Dehart suffered the terror of aliens abducting her from a country road. The horror of being kidnapped and then sold as a sex slave is beyond anything Franny has ever imagined. With no hope of being rescued she finds herself with a new definition of hell—Utopia.
Can Cade, Nebraska, and Dawson show Franny her new life is more than a prison? They need her, but will she stay with them or run at the first opportunity? Can they hold onto the woman they've grown to love and protect her from the others who will stop at nothing to have her?

Kidnapped by an alien ship and sold into slavery on a nearly-abandoned planetary settlement, Franny finds herself belonging to three ore miners, Cade, Nebraska and Dawson, who've pooled together everything they had to buy her thinking only about the harsh winter that's just days away from setting in.
It doesn't take long before the men realize their prize is a living, breathing fiery red-head who isn't so hot over the idea of being passed around for their pleasure. At the same time, it isn't long before Franny realizes her survival depends on them. Right about the time other miners start beating at the door making outrageous offers to have them share her.
I don't read much fantasy romance, but I'm expanding my horizons, so to speak. Romance plots can get repetitious and tossing an interplanetary wrench into the gears can shake things up a bit. And I found I REALLY enjoyed this. Sure, I would have loved an Epilogue to know how things turned put, but I suppose I can make something up on my own.
Well written and edited. I liked how peeling away the grime and roughness from the three, lonely miners revealed their true, individualistic selves. This might be short story, but sometimes that's all it takes. *grin*
If I was rating this under Polyamorous/Romance/Fantasy Novellas then I'd rate this closer to a 4.25.
This book needs a more accurate cover. Big burly minors living on a harsh world look nothing like the Ambercrombie Twinks pictured on it.
This was a dark read with a sweet HEA. Although - I would have liked an epilogue. One of those epilogues that take place a couple years afterwards where the reader is given warm fuzzy details on the HEA.
*** SPOILERS ***
Frannie is driving outside of Chicago and stops to look at the stars. She gets kidnapped by aliens and taken to planet Utopia to be sold as a sex slave. The population of Utopia is 99% men. Utopia was colonized by humans from earth and later added to by a shipment of prisoners. The purpose of the colony was to mine vital ores and gems to be shipped back to Earth. The harsh Antarctica-like winters have been killing off the people of Utopia every year and the government of Earth has abandoned the people on Utopia. No rescue or acknowledgement. Frannie even reflects that she was taught in school that Utopia had been retired with no population.
Frannie is purchased by three men who pool their mined gems to buy her. In the beginning, the three men don't particularly care what Franny is feeling - they're just really excited to have a person with lady-parts. Frannie is understandably freaked out and scared. She intends to run away as soon as possible and doesn't intend to share herself with these men.
Frannie soon realizes these three men are all that stand between her and a mob of men who hope to use her as a whore with no concern to her well-being. The three men ply her with alcohol to help her calm down, and she inevitably gives into having sex with the three. It's not rape or coerced - but more of a "why not just get it over with" type of despair on Frannie's part. The three men do show care in their treatment of her both sexually and as a person.
Over the months of their harsh winter, they all get to know one another as they are cabin-bound trying to escape the cold. Frannie grows to enjoy sex with her men and learns to appreciate each man's personality. There are a few bad incidents that occur along the way, and despite minor jealousy issues, the three men and Frannie grow deeper feelings.
In the spring when everyone can finally leave their homes, Frannie has given up hope of being rescued and brought back to Earth. Of course, that's when a rescue ship turns up and takes her away from her men.
First of all, I’m a huge fan of Ashlynn Munroe’s, and when I saw this book I was expecting something along the lines of Given, which I loved. Well, though there were similarities, this book was totally different in a good way, and I absolutely loved it. Ashlynn has a great imagination, and I was totally absorbed in the book and curious about how the heroine Franny would survive in this hostile planet. I loved how the feelings of all the characters developed through the course of the story, and the ending was perfect. All I can say is if you’re a fan of sci-fi romance, go pick this up today because you don’t want to miss this fantastic story!
I personally adore Ashlynn's voice and she really shines in sci-fi. Franny is abducted and dragged to an alien planet where she's auctioned off to the highest bidder-which luckily ends up being our three heroes.
There's the right amount of awkward when she's first purchased by the men. The chemistry blossoms at a believable rate, and soon steams up the action.
There's a bit of George R R Martin meets scifi in her world building which I loved. Great read!
A sci-fi romance short that is well written. A brutal setting where love and tenderness are grown and fiercely protected. In such a harsh world, the least expectation is self-sacrifice and selflessness. This romance is filled with both.
This was a hot and sexy read. I really enjoyed it. The characters were great and I loved getting to know them through the book. I'm looking forward to the next one to see how things ended up.
Some stories are just like good wine: the longer you wait, the better.
I was not convinced when I started this story. I thought: “gosh, another kidnapping, another sex slave heroine, some other cavemen heroes that will use forced seduction” and I was already dropping my head in my hands.
I selected this story from Manic Readers as I am now an official reviewer there so I had no choice but to read it and review it. And it turned much better than expected!
The plot improved with time. Once, I passed the steps how she arrived in their “house”, it got better.
I loved the heroes and heroine. They were not only lovable but they had distinct personalities. The author made me feel their love for the heroine and it was endearing. The heroine was also likeable. I did not relate to her because she did not play the equality card but overall she was credible. She made the best of her situation in order to survive and she traded what she had in hands, herself. It made sense and therefore the immediate sex the first day she arrived was logical and acceptable.
My issue was more about the length of the story. I thought it was missing the time factor between the time she arrived in their care and the falling in love. It was way too quick for me. I get it the “lust at first sight” but love and declaring they would die at first sight was a bit too much, too quick for me.
I had some issue with the equality. I did not find any. I also understood that the men were very different and her feelings were different for each one of them. However, I dislike it when a character is deeply in love with the heroine and she does not return the same feelings. It did not feel right. She always mentioned that her relationship was complicated when in fact it was very simple: the hero loved her passionately when she only cared for him. The epilogue did not convince me either.
I did not feel the love with another hero. The relationship was based on lust only. Therefore the epilogue made no sense either.
So she feel madly in love with only one character. And yes, I did feel the passion and love between them. So the romance for me was only between two characters.
The three males heroes were truly lovable but the author developed only two out of the three characters. But I loved them all.
The plot was interesting. It made lot of sense to me that the government or big companies would use people as slave and conveniently forgot them. It happens all the time in most countries today. I also read in the news some kidnapping of women sold to become whores in brothels. We hear about drugs cartels but humans slavery is not a myth. There is nothing pretty and it is reality. Women are bind and dozen of men rape them in a row until they die and if they survive they are totally broken physically and psychologically. Those men are no longer men but beasts. I mean we try to turn our head or shut our eyes and ear but it happens every day. So the plot was not that much far away from reality and therefore very credible.
I had to laugh in this story. I think the author never experienced the Canada cold weather. I live in Quebec and in January and February, our temperatures go down to minus 35F and we do not freeze on the spot! It is indeed cold but life does not stop here. LMAO. We have special winter clothes of course but we carry on with our life and do out business as usual. So yes, I laughed when I read that. It was cute. I thought the author was from South for sure!
I have to mention the cover book. They look nothing like the heroes and the heroine. However, an effort was made to find mines.
Overall, I am happy about this sci-fi futuristic story and it was a fun quick read :)
