Guía de una jovencita para las buenas decisiones

Rate this book
Every girl is a beautiful creation, uniquely equipped by God to do His work in the world. But as girls are growing, changing, and making choices about the kinds of lives they will lead, they are bombarded with conflicting messages about what it means to be a woman. The media says one thing, boys say another, and friends seem obsessed with whatever is newest and coolest. As a result, girls too often hand their decisions over to those least qualified to make them.

Into the breach steps Elizabeth George, bestselling author and beloved Bible teacher. With wisdom, gentleness, and tremendous grace, she guides tween girls ages 8 to 12 through the most challenging decisions they face, teaching them to let God—not the world—define who they are. Discussing such topics as attitude, friendships, crushes, parents, school, and avoiding bad situations, Elizabeth helps girls see that the very best choice of all is a choice to live within God’s will.

Perfect for individuals, small groups, and mentoring.

Book Review: A Girl's Guide to Making Really Good Choices by Elizabeth George

I've been a fan of Elizabeth George's Bible studies for a long time now, and when I saw her new book, "A Girl's Guide to Making Really Good Choices," I knew it was a must-read. And now that I've read it, I'm buying my tween daughter a copy and studying through the book with her.

George's goal is to help girls after God's own heart learn how to make good, God-honoring choices. Straight away, George makes a connection between choices and the heart, using Proverbs 4:23 and Luke 6:45. She shows tweens how the heart affects attitudes how attitudes then lead to actions.

"A Girl's Guide to Making Really Good Choices" is not just a good read. It's an interactive study in which girls are encouraged to answer questions, journal, write out action plans, and pray through the book as they learn keys to making good choices. And the book is full of Bible verses to help tweens see these aren't just an adult's idea of what good choices are--these are God's ideas.

The book includes some great features. In each chapter, George uses acronyms to help girls remember main points. Here's an example from the chapter on choosing what to say and what not to say. The letters in MOUTH stand for:
M- Make your words pleasing to God.
O- Out of your heart your mouth speaks.
U- Utter only what God says to say.
T- Truth is always the right thing to say.
H- Hurting someone with your words is wrong.
At the end of each chapter, tweens are encouraged to rewrite the statement for each letter of the acronym. Then George helps them pray through what they've learned from God's Word and plan how to obey.

In "A Girl's Guide to Making Really Good Choices," George covers all of the most important issues tweens face: choosing to get up each day, prioritizing God's Word and prayer, choosing friends, choosing what you say and don't say, choosing to have patience, choosing joy, choosing to be faithful, and choosing to trust God.

I highly recommend this book for tween girls and for moms, too! Even though it's written for a tween audience, there's so much biblical truth it's still applicable. And it's even better to study through it together as you disciple your girl on her journey to become a girl after God's own heart.

Note: I received a copy of the book from the publisher for this review. However, the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

As a mom raising two daughters, I've long admired Elizabeth George's Bible studies. When I discovered her new book, "A Girl's Guide to Making Really Good Choices," I knew it was perfect for my tween daughter. After reading it, I decided to go through it together. George brilliantly connects choices to the heart, using Proverbs 4:23 and Luke 6:45. She incorporates real-life examples, urging girls to answer questions, journal, and create action plans. The book is rich with Bible verses, making it clear that these are not just adult ideals but God's principles. With acronyms and interactive features, it covers crucial issues like friendships, speech, patience, joy, faithfulness, and trust in God. This isn't just a book; it's a transformative guide for both tweens and their moms.

and a final excellent and clear pointer to our need for forgiveness from sin through the Lord Jesus.

Extremely cringe worthy. Every chapter equates to "don't think or listen or non Christians, do what the church tells you and everything will be good"

I loved the part where the readee wants to be part of the "in crew" and the author says, "you have church which is better than the 'in crew'. Even if they call you the weird church girl. You are being yourself"

No, you're being brainwashed..

As with all writings written by mankind, be sure to compare what is being said with what the Bible says. The Bible is the ultimate source of authority. Even though I did not agree with everything presented-the information was good and easy to follow. I would encourage readers to study baptism and how it's essential in God's perfect plan.

Author Elizabeth George has a special talent for breaking down into small bites ways to live a better Christian life. In this particular book she gives some very easy to follow advice for girls in the early stages of being a teenager. This is a perfect book for a Mom to read along with her daughter or for a Sunday School class to go through together. The author addresses different issues that are important and also offers simple advice that is age appropriate. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I think this book is a must read! I would recommend this book to anyone with a young daughter and especially as a gift to a young girl who is looking for help in her walk with the Lord.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
