Frontiere was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Lucia Pamela
Irwin, Miss St. Louis of 1926, KMOX radio's "gal about town,"
and the leader of America's first all-girl orchestra, and Reginald
Irwin, an insurance salesman and businessman.
Frontiere had early aspirations to work as an opera singer,
eventually travelling to Milan to train with the Milan Opera. By
the age of ten, she was performing along with her mother and
brother in the singing group the Pamela Trio. The group traveled
the state and entertained at ballrooms and state fairs. A few years
later, the family moved to Fresno, California, where Frontiere
performed at dinner theatres alongside her mother in a duo, the
Pamela Sisters.
In the late 1950s, Frontiere moved to Miami and had her
own television interview show. Later, she made appearances as
part of NBC's Today show cast. She also performed as a nightclub
singer in Miami.
While living in Miami, Frontiere was introduced to the then
Baltimore Colts owner, Carroll Rosenbloom, at a party hosted
by Joseph Kennedy at his Palm Beach estate in 1957. Frontiere
married Rosenbloom, who became her fifth husband, in 1960.
In 1972, Rosenbloom traded ownership of the Baltimore
Colts for ownership of the Los Angeles Rams. During this time,
the couple resided in Bel Air, California, and Frontiere became
a part of the Los Angeles social scene, hosting numerous parties
and philanthropic events. Tragically, Rosenbloom died in 1979 in
Golden Beach, Florida.
Upon her husband's passing, Frontiere inherited a majority
ownership stake in the Los Angeles Rams. She was often dubbed
the first female owner of a National Football League franchise,
although the NFL reported that she was actually the second
female majority owner. However, during Frontiere's tenure, she
was the only active female majority owner in the NFL.
During her years as owner, Frontiere moved the Rams twice.
In 1980 she relocated them from the Los Angeles Memorial
Coliseum to Anaheim (a deal Rosenbloom made in 1978). Then
she moved the team to St. Louis in 1995.
Throughout her career, Frontiere was devoted to a range of
philanthropic causes. In 1991, she made a $1 million donation
to the Fulfillment Fund, which provides support systems to
help underprivileged students pursue higher education. She was
also an outspoken supporter of the NFL Alumni Association.
In 1997, she spearheaded the formation of the St. Louis Rams
Foundation, which has contributed more than $7 million to
charities in the St. Louis area.
Always a patron of the arts, in 2000, Frontiere donated $1
million to help build a 5,500-seat amphitheater, the Frontiere
Performing Arts Pavilion, located in the Sedona Cultural Park in
Arizona. She also produced the Tony-nominated August Wilson
play Radio Golf and Richard Dresser's Below the Belt.

CW: rape, ableism lite, stalking, child abuse
(Seriously, about the rape - it's not super graphic, but there are multiple instances. Please be ware.)
So........ I hate astrology. We know this.
Why did I read this book? I can think of two options.
A. I'm an idiot.
B. I'm far too optimistic about the shocking depths of my cynicism.
I'm going to go with B because I'm too tired and I need to be nicer to myself.
In the last few days, I pulled out my Kindle, which has been gathering dust for several years now, and decided to clean it out. And by clean it out, I mean attempt to read every book I downloaded for cheap or free when I was 17 because accumulating books is a chronic illness.
This is the first of them that I have finished.
The writing is fine. It goes a bit heavy-handed with the exposition, and can sometimes be much more tell-y than show-y. Kelly, though none of the other characters, is fairly distinct. I actually really enjoy that she has /severe anxiety, but I hated that in the end
I thought I called the killer, but I did not, only because he was a character who was never mentioned until they actually figured out who it was. So, like, that's fine I guess... I think it should be have been hinted earlier, honestly.
The things I really disliked was the frequent chapters that had the killer assaulting women. I'm just not here for that, my dude. Like, no thanks.
And, of course, I hate astrology. It's one thing to spout your sign, but then to pair it with more clinical psychology? Ugh. And I really hate the plot point that I really just found it very distasteful.
I very much didn't like this book, but I'm trying to be unbiased. So, without the whole person astrology thing, it gets two stars.

I love astrological fiction and really enjoyed this, although the reasoning behind knowing that a couple of suspects can't have faked their birthcharts was due to the fact that she had checked the charts by drawing another chart with 12 hours difference was bs, and a couple of little things like that (it can't have been a man with venus in pisces cos he'd love women), the astrology was sound enough. For me i'd have liked more astrology and psychology but overall it was a good read and i'd definitely read any other books by her.

I was given a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. A serial killer is at large who rapes his victims and then carves the victims astrology sign into their skin. One night Dr Kelly York, who is a professional astrologer gets a sinister phone call at 4.20am. The call leaves Kelly very shaken. Is there a link between the phone calls she receives and the serial killer? Does Dr Kelly hold the KEY to the murders?
I did enjoy this book but I found a lot of elements of it, in regards to the police and their involvement unbelievable. This book is set in America so I will be kind and say that maybe the police take sinister phone calls a lot more seriously over there. I really liked the main character of Dr Kelly York. I had a lot of sympathy for her and was really wanting everything to work out for her in the end. There is not much else I can add without spoiling the story so I will leave it there.

I really like interesting mystery crime novels with innovative plot, and for me this book is one of these. Main character Dr Kelly York is an astrologer and thus be involved in the investigation with astrology signs appearing on the bodies, but also she receiving mysterious phone calls. Kelly is believable, but some other things in this story not that much. Link between the attacks is quite unusual, as well as only gradually we learn more about the role of Kelly York in all of that although some things we could assume. Definitely good book if you want to read some interesting light crime novel.

A very good mystery with a smattering of astrology thrown in for those who speak the language of the stars. However, you really don't need to know anything about astrology to read this book. The central mystery drew and final twist leave me wanting more.
Too bad the author died before she wrote any more books, this is a universe that I would have loved to have revisited again in future installments. There is some hope, however, as Georgina Frontiere left outlines for future story lines should the family / publisher find a good ghostwriter and editor to continue the series.

Sometimes I have the opportunity to read a book and it takes me a lot longer to get to it than I originally envisaged. This is just one contributing factor to the phenomenon we bloggers refer to as “Blogger Guilt”…too many books and too little time. Horoscope: The Astrology Murders has been in my TBR queue for far too long and had slipped so far down my list of Kindle titles it had unfortunately gone off my radar. A recent trawl for something “different” to read brought Horoscope to the top of the reading list and I can finally share a review.
Kelly York is an astrologer who has built a strong reputation in her chosen field. She will perform astrological readings to guide people making important life choices and enjoys the supportive role she offers. Kelly accepts that not everyone believes in her work but her patience and methodical reasoning means she will defend her career against the doubters and show why there is merit in the service she performs.
It should be noted that there were several quite detailed examples of astrological interpretations and readings interspersed through the book. I cannot comment upon the accuracy of the information, but the detail and authority with which it was conveyed leads me to believe the author knows her stuff.
Kelly is housebound in Horoscope, she suffers agoraphobia and is terrified at the prospect of leaving her property. She has a housekeeper who helps (but is unaware of Kelly’s condition) and her faithful K9 companion keeps her company too. However, Kelly will soon have her peaceful sanctuary shattered – she starts receiving threatening phone calls. Someone who seems to know her every move and wants Kelly to experience fear as incidents around her home make her wonder if the danger is much closer than she thinks.
Outside of Kelly’s beautiful home there is a killer targeting vulnerable lonely women. He breaks into their homes under cover of night before raping and strangling each of his victims. Each of the dead women has a sign of the zodiac carved into their leg. The FBI are investigating but the killer is not leaving them any meaningful leads.
Kelly calls in the police over the threatening calls and the connection between the rapist and the threatening calls is made. We face the prospect of a murderer closing in on Kelly and she remains confined to her house.
An entertaining serial killer thriller. The murderer is a chilling figure and you root for Kelly from the outset – she is struggling to keep her agoraphobia a secret from her family and friends and the last thing she needs is the additional terror at the thought of being someone’s target.

Kelly Elizabeth York is an interesting heroine. She is an intuitive astrologer cum psychologist who uses her talents and skill to help people look at themselves clearly and make the best decisions. She loves what she does which makes the phone threats she is receiving even more frightening. On top of that, she has developed agrophobia and she cannot leave her home. Her charts tell her that she is in danger but that does not explain her crippling fears.
When her case is linked to a serial killer who rapes and murders his victims and then carves their astrological sign on their bodies, things go from bad to worse. Who is hunting her and why? Why is she unable to help herself? How will it end?
This is an interesting book with compelling characters but it almost pales to the history of the book and its author. Ms. Frontiere's children found the manuscript after her death and had it published. There were also notes on future adventures for Kelly.
That in itself is rare but so is the life story of the author. From a life in show business to marriage to being the first woman owner of an NFL franchise, there was plenty of material from which she could fashion a novel. Perhaps it was in the stars that she would also be mystery author after her death.

I got this book through a Goodreads giveaway and encouraged to give a review.
This book had me from the beginning! I loved the easy flow of the book, from different characters perspectives to the progression of the book, it was a very easy to read and follow along type of book.
The main character is very like-able and you empathize with her very fast. You feel like you know the antagonist on some level also. The ending, wow, had me completely blind-sided.
Even though the story deals with unfamiliar topics (astrology on a higher level than reading your horoscope and psychology), but was explained in such a way that I didn't feel like it was dumbed down for the reader. It isn't a horribly graphic or violent book, and I'm glad for that. It would have taken something away from the simplistic nature of the book.
I was halfway through the book before I even realized it and was wondering how it was possible to wrap everything up by the end (which was handled very well). And now I've learned that there is going to be another story. I'm very excited and can't wait to read it!!!

I wanted to like this book much more than I did. I wavered between 2 and 3, but I did like the flashbacks to the killer's point of view -- that was scary. The rest not at all. I really dislike characters, especially main ones, who keep telling you the same thing over and over. I used to do ... but now I can't anymore.
Also, the "heroine" is not a heroine. She wins/survives through sheer luck, and she didn't solve the mystery. I enjoyed most of the aspects of the astrology because it reminded me of my mother who studied astrology for a while and drug me along with her, but it got too detailed for people who are not into it.
The red herring at the end was a little too much. No foreshadowing at all -- just bam, and the book is over and everything is wonderful. Just a little too much.

If you want to read a complex, suspenseful mystery, this is the book for you. It is an excellently written novel.

I won my copy of Horoscope: The Astrology Murders by Georgia Frontiere through GoodReads FirstReads and I loved it! It's about an agoraphobic, intuitive astrologer, psychologist named Kelly Elizabeth York who becomes the obsession of a psychopath. Kelly's debilitating agoraphobia keeps her isolated in her New York brownstone where she lives and runs her astrology practice. Then late night calls from a creepy weirdo has her fearing for her life and those of people close to her. At the same time a crazed rapist/serial killer is terrorizing the city. I loved the mystery and suspense of the whole story, and felt Kelly's fear and pain of her phobia and from the callers threats. Great book, I can't wait to read any and all sequels, and really anything from the author!

This book had two parts to the story. One was the story of the rape and murder of women, and the perpetrator of these crimes. The other was Kelly York, whose life is being threatened. Both parts have a common thread, astrology, and its use to tell about one's personality and foretell events in one's life. I enjoyed the story, especially the use of astrology. The underlying story of rape and murder, although essential to the plot, seemed almost too predictable. The identification of Kelly's foe happened too quickly for my taste. It didn't take any logic or evidence. I thought the characters were well portrayed and developed, and would enjoy future books incorporating Kelly and astrology into the solving of other mysteries.

This is a well written murder mystery that really kept my attention. It is well written, suspenseful and flowed well. The character's were developed beautifully and I am sure, we all know some people that are like Kelly (although her phobia did get a bit much at times), her assistant Sarah who pines for a love that she lost, and yes, even the frustrated detective. The author has a good understanding of astrology and ties it in very well in the story line. At times you will feel just as frustrated as the characters, or just as anxious. This was a very good read, one thriller I would definitely read again.

I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway. I enjoy a suspenseful novel and this did not disappoint. What makes it even more readable is that there are two stories--the primary story about the serial killer who carves astrological signs into his victims and the secondary story involving the main character, Dr. Kelly York, who suffers from agoraphobia and how this affects her (personally and professionally) and the ongoing investigation.
I do hope that more Kelly York books are written.

Good suspense
The identity of the killer remained a mystery throughout the book. There were interesting minor characters. I am unfamiliar with astrology but for someone knowledgeable, there was plenty of characterization to enjoy.

I liked this book a lot. It took me a while to read because it's not my favorite genre but I'm glad I gave it a shot. I like that it kept you guessing and then when you finally think it's solved it takes another turn. All in all it was a nice read.

Good book
I liked the astrology angle. It got a bit confusing when the main character started talking about retrograde and squared things, but since I don't know the lingo, it's not surprising. All in all, a pretty entertaining read.

Oh I just loved this book! Always been interested in astrology and I'm always up for a good murder mystery, so this was the perfect book for me. Will definitely check out this author's other books

I love when I can't figure out the bad guy. Talented writer, words well crafted, excellent plot. Loved the main character and the supporting cast.

A different type of a detective story investigated with the help of astrology, very interesting, with quite an unpredictable ending. Very likeable characters, great plot. Really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this book. The ending surprised me, which doesn't happen often.
