The Creative Process Diet book helped me to understand that weight loss could be an effortless task. I read it about two years ago, and I was morbidly obese. At the time, the weight loss seemed an insurmountable task. I never truly believed that it would happen. However, reading this book opened my mind to the possibility that if I found a way to make my eating a habit, and practiced certain daily rituals, such as preparing the food that I would need for the following day, that my weight could come off. I have since sought help with food addiction, and was able to find more guidance as far as what foods I should eat and in what proportion I should eat them, but this book was absolutely instrumental in understanding that my goal was achievable in an effortless manner.
I have lost over 118 pounds, and am happier than ever in the realization of my goals. And it has been nearly effortless! I used to white-knuckle my way through other diets and weight loss plans, but I continue planning to this very day what I will eat the next day, and it has become second-nature to me. I don’t even think about it very much anymore, and I continue to lose weight.
I recommend that anyone who is looking to change their life and lose weight read this book, for it may help you to understand that if you desire to achieve anything, it is a matter of training your mind and spirit.

At first I felt like I was reading a requiem to a dreaded diet. However, the idea of pre-setting parameters days before your actual eating takes place avoids free grazing and yet gives you something to anticipate (food.)

The experience of anticipation being itself rewarding to the exclusion of the actual food is an interesting concept and conceivable.

You have to avoid making this process a chore and instead something to do like painting a picture. It must be fun, something that becomes part of your daily ritual like meditation, journalist, biking, something that happens organically. With practice this becomes a pattern, an afterthought. IN effect you wish away your diet while watching a better you in the mirror.

I suggest you read the book to the end; I wasn't sold until later in the book. I'm happy to have come across this book and to have finished it. It's been very useful. I know I'm repeating myself, I truly recommend it.

It's a creative artistic innovative way to interpret a process of dieting. It's a crisp clear reading, as if someone is talking straight at you, with intentions to tap into consciousness and develop a more fulfilling outcome in your life journey. The honesty of the ingredients in this book has reinforced my thinking in how to take the reins of my body and mind.

At first glance, this book comes across as a New Age way of dealing with an Age Old Problem but it is so much more. I for one see it as a revolutionary approach to self-mastery

To begin with, everything about this book is different from the norm of books out there, from the formatting, to the layout, to the style, this book is written in a manner that draws your attention to the key points and is executed to perfection. One could make a study out of this one element and come away with an insight that is as unique as it is beneficial. There is something to be learn from paying attention on how this book is laid out. This is definitely an element that as an author myself, consider to be revolutionary and cutting edge. I was taken to school on this point and on this key point alone, this book is worth the cost, in the study on how to get your message across effectively in an unique way.

Now, getting to the gist and purpose of the book. Its aim is to provide the reader with the tools and techniques to master the ability to lose weight and actually enjoyed the experience. However, the more I read this book, the more revealing it became. While the primary adjective here is to give people the wherewithal to lose weight, I can see these processes, tools, and techniques being used in other areas. Not only to lose weight but to stop smoking or getting in the right framework to exercise with success or to study, the possibilities are endless. The underlying principles are universal in depth and in the adaptability in applying to any quest or challenge the reader might have.

The content is as educational as it is helpful as it is spiritual. No surprise considering the author's background, a PhD in psychology and is currently based at Columbia University where his research into PTSD has drawn praise from his peers. While this might not have a bearing on the book, it does demonstrate that Ben Adams has the background to write such a monumental book with authority.

Yes, the author is a member of academia and it shows in his writing but if one seriously gets into this book, they will come away with a wealth of knowledge that can benefit them for a lifetime. In other words, imagine if you will, someone like Tony Robbins with the sophistication and the literary and dramatic propriety of being Ivy League and you'll get an idea of who Ben Adams is. And like Tony Robbins, they have a revolutionary approach to Self-Mastery. And on that note, I consider this book worthy of merit for the topic as it is so much more here than meets the eye.

I have read and tried almost every diet out there, from South Beach to Paleo, and I've always struggled to lose about 20 pounds of persistent body fat that just won't go away. The author offered me a review copy of this book and I found the approach to be so innovative that I decided not only to read it, but to give the process a try myself. In every other diet I've tried, the emphasis is on food selection and serving size. What I've come to realize is that this approach is a lot like trying to pilot a spacecraft to the moon by pointing yourself in the general direction (I want to lose weight), and adjusting the type and amount of fuel in each engine to move your rocket towards your goal. The Creative Process Diet gets you to your goal by altering the programming in your guidance system, without resorting to dogmatic food selection structures. This is a mindful eating program that gives you a road map for making food decisions that will naturally alter your subconscious approach to eating, resulting in a natural and healthy path to weight loss that allows you to listen to your body's cravings, and even satisfy them, without the guilt associated with other diet programs.
So much of American eating patterns come down to mindless grazing, resulting in a death-spiral towards obesity. The Creative Process Diet gives you the tools to take control of your eating habits, while acknowledging that most people who work for a living don't have personal chefs, and often have to navigate through a maze of business meetings and social events that aren't conducive to rigid dietary rules. I find that the planning elements take me ten or fifteen minutes per day, and so far I've lost 8 pounds in just over 2 weeks. More importantly, I'm not forcing myself to make better food choices, but I'm gravitating to them naturally. In addition to explaining the approach, the book contains planning sheets at the end to help you implement it. If you've tried the latest and greatest fad diets without success, The Creative Process Diet could change your life for the better.

When the Creative Process Diet came in to my life I had long since given up any and every eating plan having tried and “failed” at them all. I am a musician and a writer whose life has been “structured” around spontaneity and impulsiveness with spurts of the obsessive focus and intense activity necessary to bring elusive ideas into tangible form. As comfortable as I am with science and technology in my work, I have not been able to integrate “calories in calories out” eating plans common to almost every diet today into my life. I resist the insinuation of external authority and control they place on my thinking and behavior.
When the book came my way I was immediately drawn to its approach on a very deep level. I see it as revolutionary because it taps in to the natural wisdom that lives deep in the individual from which all creativity originates turning the entire process of eating over to it. Every aspect including food gathering and meal choice are turned over to the imagination thereby resolving all inner conflicts automatically. Following a few simple “rules” daily, any person who eats can begin to inject self-regulation and nature into their experience. It is integrating and life affirming. It ends the need to pathetically announce to everyone around you that, “I am on a diet”. It allows for the unpredictable so it ends the mental panic of, “ What will I eat at the restaurant tomorrow ? “ or “ What will I do when everybody is partying at the wedding I’m invited to? “.
I will be approaching the next days and weeks with a sense of excitement and adventure that I have never experienced before in connection with a change in my eating. I can remain the Foodie I have worked so hard to become. I can celebrate my eccentricities and unconventional nature here. When I succeed , “diet” will no longer be a noun OR a verb.

Believe me when I say that THE CREATIVE PROCESS DIET is like no book you have ever seen or read before----and maybe that is why it is something you should consider.

What Ben G. Adams has taken away all of the bells and whistles associated with dieting or even publishing and given the world something that focuses less on what you look like and more about you. This book is all about mindfulness and being present, and that is what fascinated me the most about it. A lot of times we think about appreciating the moment and taking in the moment in everything but what we put in our bodies. What Ben reminds us of, though, is that this is exactly why maybe our efforts to diet or live healthier have failed in the past.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS DIET is just that: a creative way of looking at what you take in and chronicling your journey along the way. You become a part of the book---a co-author of sorts---because you have to share what you are eating, what you are doing and how it all helps you in your evolution to living a healthier, happier life.

If you are looking for something that puts the focus where it needs to be then maybe THE CREATIVE PROCESS DIET is something you should consider. I think it will help you look at food and who you are in a different way.

The book is a welcome and refreshing break from tradition in its concepts, content and layout.

The author's style may seem academic and impractical if you're expecting a conventional diet book with the usual discourse about calories and menu tips. This is not a diet book in that sense, but far more a guide to a balanced life, as well as a balanced diet. It's about making a conscious decision and commitment to self-mastery. Follow-up thus becomes an integral part of a deliberately ritualistic lifestyle that breaks the futile cycle of habitual indecision, thus releasing creative energy.

The author introduces new and unfamiliar terms such as "bindling," and redefines others such as magic and ecstasy – which can become disorienting at times. This is not superficial effortless "bathroom reading" but, nevertheless, well worth the effort. The goal is to make life a creative art form and not just an attempt at temporary behavior modification.

You really can alter your life by altering your thinking, and this book is an excellent start to that creative process.

Completely outside the usual labels and categories we tend to use. Not
necessarily just for dieting, the process described can be used as
behavior modification in any aspect of daily living. This book can be
used for the purpose of a dieting guide, a way to bring creative
thinking and behavior into your everyday routine, a guide to see
things in a more positive and magical sense, or a way to learn to
discipline yourself through ritual and faith in one's self.
Beautifully written, for anyone who's wanted to change themselves for
the better and are searching for enjoyment in the process of doing so.

As an artist, I recognize the wisdom in Ben Adams's gentle guide to discovering and tapping into the innate creative process with which we are all endowed. His book, The Creative Process Diet, not only provides us with a method to reach a state of physical and mental harmony, but also to organize our self-discipline to a point where our actions become second nature. I feel that Adams posits that this creative flow from effort to effortlessness may be used to fulfill any of our life-goals, resulting in a balance between our outer and inner life.

This book is delicious food that I've never tasted before. A wonderful experience. I am no longer approaching my meals as a pig trough, but more as a sacrament table, a spiritual ritual for which I am grateful.

At ground level, The Creative Process Diet is about how to control what you eat. But it's really about "mindful mindlessness," a Zen-like way of being in the world that it describes with guileless lucidity. A key to its success is that it doesn't tell you WHAT to eat.

Haven't finished the book yet, but 30 pages in, I'm completely
intrigued. Nothing like it.
Looking forward to putting Ben's ideas into my daily living.
