Winning combines suspense, violence, love, and football in a small west Texas town in the late forties. Unexpected events thrust a naive, idealistic Stubby Warden into a nightmare coaching job where he is forced to deal with a dissident coaching staff, a misdirected school board and an evil crime syndicate while he struggles to turn around a losing football program . . . A fast-paced, complex drama filled with quirky characters and downhome sports humor unfolds against an incredibly exciting football season.

Fun story about life, football, and Texas in the 40’s. It may have been fiction, but just barely! 5⭐️
