A Series of Talks on Mental and Spiritual Law Delivered at the Metaphysical Institute, Los Angeles in 1918. Creative Mind is the first book Ernest Holmes wrote. Since 1919, it has escorted countless people out of despair and into a richer, fuller life, and has been a source of inspiration throughout the world. The strength of this book can be easily found in the simple and clear approach Holmes took in researching the wisdom of the ages from many disciplines, including psychology, spiritualism, religion, medicine, and philosophy. To meld these concepts into a practical way of living an abundant life not only resulted in this book, but set the stage for what became his classic Science of Mind Textbook. With this beautiful new edition, the only changes you'll find are in the presentation, not the message. In 1957, when Creative Mind was reprinted, Dr. Holmes reviewed the book for alterations and said that there was very little he would change, because "Truth is ageless, timeless, changeless."
Ernest Shurtleff Holmes was an American New Thought writer, teacher, and leader. He was the founder of a Spiritual movement known as Religious Science, part of the greater New Thought movement, whose spiritual philosophy is known as "The Science of Mind." He was the author of The Science of Mind and numerous other metaphysical books, and the founder of Science of Mind magazine, in continuous publication since 1927. His books remain in print, and the principles he taught as "Science of Mind" have inspired and influenced many generations of metaphysical students and teachers. Holmes had previously studied another New Thought teaching, Divine Science, and was an ordained Divine Science Minister. His influence beyond New Thought can be seen in the self-help movement.
Note from friend: -It's about how our own thoughts ultimately determine our destiny; we can change our life experiences,if we wish, by first changing our thoughts.

I wanted to read a book about the creative mind, how it works, how creativity arises, and how one could be creative. They say that creativity is rare among humans, but why?
Ernest believes everything starts and ends with God; this book is preaching about God, then answering my original questions. As Christian Orthodox, I can now interpret why God is important in creativity. Firstly in the "my God" belief system, God is not one thing but is composed of 3 coequal, coeternal elements: the Holy Trinity. In essence, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Im not getting technical explaining the heterochromosome that will always define the gender of a newborn child. Im not doing that becouse it will require a bit of Freudian analysis on the primary driving forces of humans: sexuality. Im going to concentrate on the Holy Spirit, according to Ernest, is the foundation of creativity in his One God system. From Judaism Ruach ha-kodesh Hebrew: רוח הקודש, to Islam Holy Spirit (Arabic: روح القدس Ruh al-Qudus, "the Spirit of Holiness") to Hindu Advaita Vedanta (/ʌdˈvaɪtə vɛˈdɑːntə/; Sanskrit: अद्वैत वेदान्त and Christianity we all agree that there is such Holy Spirit, a force of creativity.
Therefore, since this book didnt explain rightly and specifically the part of God that enables creativity for me is not worth reading; however, if you like stories about the man in the sky with a long beard that sits up here and sends random creative thoughts to people, then please go ahead and read it. It is a story anyway, and you might get inspired somehow.
Dated, and with way too much Christianity. He makes a poignant point at the end: that action and thought are the same. "An inactive body is the result of an inactive mind... we create [conditions] as fast as we think." "As fast as he chooses, he experiences that thing he dreams about." Watershed moment for me : think fast, act fast. Most of humanity hangs around the purgatory called fear. Wow.
This is really insightful book. It makes you think more about life and how you have been living it. I loved reading about how we are all in control of our own lives. If we want it, we can get it. All we have to do is to believe and we shall receive. My views on some things have changed since reading this book and I am looking at a brighter future because of it.
Ernest Holmes was one of the authors that guided me out of the darkest years of my life. I still take this book off the shelf from time to time to help focus my thinking.
Love this book! I can't stress it enough. So much has resonated with me, in that God has given us everything. We are to speak the words of life, and favor upon us. Yes! The treatment of the word spoken. Speaking with authority and knowing that what we have spoken is law. And that Law is the fruit of our lips.
Often times are words come through our feelings. We can feel all sorts of things. However, this book, sought out to create a mindset of good words, words that heal, words that bless, words that speak good, dispelling the illusions of false thinking.
Here's what I know to be true God is love. Love is powerful so much so I choose to dwell in the Love of God. And allow that Love, to bring about all the good in my life. Knowing that these words hold power. Therefore, I choose to speak life to every circumstance and every situation. Blessings to those understand and choose to see the good. Blessing of health and wealth be upon the each of us. Blessings of good thoughts. Blessings - thoughts of peace and good success be upon us always. This book is a must have....
Quaintly poignant New Thought essay on how individual creativity partakes of the greater creative power of God. Gives an idealist perspective (in both senses, philosophical and attitudinal) on how life conditions are manifested from ideas, with the word—or what is conceptually held in the mind—as a fundamental creative force, the same essential creative force attributed to God. Actually makes a pretty compelling argument that this is what Jesus was arguing for all along, what now might be called self-fulfilling prophesy or hyperstition, in the sense that narrative doesn't merely frame reality, it produces it.
Always believe in whatever you doing. Never doubt yourself.
When you don't something- don't resist it,don't even think about it and it won't even come into your life. Be careful with what you think become anything you think is law- and law in your brain is definite. What you believe-being convinced into will have no choice but to happen.
Saying, "I am", allows man to alter consciousness and tap into God's consciousness. Really? Just when I thought I read everything, this book surprised me. 5 Stars!
It really helped me to get deeper into my LOA studies, I specially liked the idea that our words not only create what we want, but also DESTROY anything that oposes it. How cool is that? Not only I am affirming my own well being, I am destroying everything that oposes it. I am affirming financial freedom and destroying poverty. I don't know why, but that got me so excited!
The powerful writing paired with the powerful narration made this for an enriching experience. Worth several listens to graps all the teachings.
I don't know if this is the same as Creative Mind and Success but I listened to it on YouTube. I've taken in enough new thought material that this wasn't new information but I still enjoyed it, as I'm trying to soak in the knowledge until it's second nature to work with and not just stuff I happen to remember when I'm intentionally focusing.
Such a good book was written and published in 1919. I liked the overall concept of thought and encouraging the creative hemisphere of the mind. "Always believe in what you're doing. Never see the imperfection." Those are two good statements, especially in the 21st-century hectic perfectionist world.
By far the best book I had ever red. Very deep had to read the chapters several times. And I definitely plan to re read again and again to fully understand the whole book. But it is a eye/mind opener and life changing world changing book. Thank you Ernest Holmes.
I was enjoying this book until the very end, he contradicted the Bible. He stated the we are not all sinners, when the Bible clearly states that fact Romans 3:23 (KJV) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; We are not perfect beings.
This is one of my favorite and most powerful positive thinking books I’ve ever read. It sits on my nightstand and I pick it up all the time to motivate me
Excellent Book. Truth. Very Helpful. I will definitely be reading more from this wise Author. Feels good & helps one gain clarity and draw nearer to God- enhancing Spiritual Understanding.
Ernest Holmes was a revolutionary, but I see a lot of gaps in his theory. Nevertheless there is a great deal of important information in this book, which describes a paradigm from which everyone in the world could derive some benefit.
I listened to it as an audiobook narrated by Hillary Hawkins, and her narration irritated me the whole time. It feels alternatively artificial and patronizing. I'll be avoiding books narrated by her in the future.
Pretty simple metaphysical philosophy, the power of the Universal Mind (God?). Any book on spiritualty can be inspiring, don't believe everything you read, and take everything with a grain of salt, sift out the truth - test the message. To quote the author; the power that holds the planets in their place is the same power that flows through man.
Another profound read by Holmes. I am ever reminded of the power within, and how we shape our lives and do so in each moment that we engage in thought, for better or worse. May it be for the better that manifestation reflects the highest consciousness.
