This book was invaluable for us deciding where we would hike and bird when visiting Cape Cod. Although we were able to add some lifers to our lists, we really need to go back in migration time or at a time when we can be there for a nor'easter. We can definitely see how birding Cape Cod could blow us away!
Our most exciting lifer was the Piping Plover. We were also able to talk to some environmental college students doing summer internships and their interesting work with the Plovers and Least Terns. It turns out that the Plovers we saw had nested, but lost their broods to coyotes. There was hope tha they would renest, but the most important thing is that the adults are safe. After watching them for a while I said, "Now I can see why some people believe in fairies." A truly magical bird!
