Playing for Her: A Wearside Story

Rate this book
A tragic injury forces footballing legend Molly Davison into early retirement. Football is her life and now that she can't play anymore, she embarks on a new path as a coach for Wearside FC.

Captain of the team, Jordan Robinson, is preparing to hang up his boots at the end of the season and after being in the game his entire life, he's having an existential crisis. Not to mention the only woman he's ever had feelings for is back on Wearside, worse still, she's officially off limits.

Molly is Jordan's new coach; she's building a reputation for herself in the men's game and paving the way for women just like her. Staying away from the team captain should be a no brainer but when their chemistry sizzles on and off the pitch, it's easier said than done.

A romance that was once so easy has new challenges as the pair try to navigate their budding relationship through the world of men's professional football. Will their love risk the reputation Molly has worked so hard to build or can they finally have their happy ever after a second time around?

Playing for Her is an open-door romance novel and book 1 in the Wearside Story series.

I very much enjoyed this book, despite or perhaps because it being set in the world of football, of which I have very little interest. But I learned a lot about the game, and especially the way coaches work, which was fascinating. The two main characters are a good mix of being strong and vulnerable and you can’t help rooting for them. They are cleverly put in extremely impossible situations for their relationship and although it’s obvious they will end up together, I enjoyed the journey. This book also addresses two main topics - Mollie fighting for recognition in a man’s world, and what do people do when they have to retire from their sporting profession.

I’d definitely recommend this.

Firstly don't let the cover make you think it's a cutesy read, the spice is spicing!
Secondly this bigger, new and improved book is literally perfect.
Jordan and Molly are perfect for eachother - the love, care and protection they have for one another is beautiful. Their chemistry and passion is top tier.
But I will say i never not think of that physio bed 👀🥵. I'm not a massive sports romance reader but I love this world that @elliewhite_writes has created. The friendship group that are around Jordan and Molly are great! I can't wait for more in this world.

Sports romance with spice

Sometimes you just want to read a book about a guy who is completely devoted to his girl and has no problem expressing how he feels. Enjoyable read. Was rooting for them from the start.
