The son of Ukrainian Jewish immigrants, Abraham Moses Klein (1909-1972) dreamed of a country where all might live according to their beliefs and religion. He was a lawyer, political activist, university lecturer, journalist, and poet, who received the Governor Genenral's Award for Poetry in 1948.
As a casual read this makes for a somewhat bland but useful introduction to A.M. Klein's life, however, as an academic source this text is not particularly useful. Kattan's attempts to turn Klein's life into a narrative does not translate well and his inserted quotations often put into question the reliability of what is being said. Overall, while written in good spirits, this short biography misses the mark.
