Rate this book
Dr. Murad has spent decades adding proof to his theory about preserving the body’s youthful qualities from the inside out. Most recently, as he pored over the scientific data he’d collected on more than 4,000 patients in the past 10 years, he made a surprising by maintaining a happy, carefree attitude and the youthful levels of cellular hydration we had as a toddler, we can age in a healthy fashion that allows us to look and feel as young as possible. Overcoming chronic negativity and "cultural stress"—the silent killer that causes havoc in our bodies and leaves us feeling isolated, anxious, and depressed—could be the most effective strategy in sustaining positive changes in overall wellness. People who lost the most weight, boosted their metabolism, improved their looks and skin health, and reported more energy, fewer issues with chronic conditions, and higher levels of happiness all shared one thing in lower cultural stress.

In Conquering Cultural Stress, Dr. Murad shows you how

And best of all, by following his simple, practical, three-step plan, you can actually build youth back into your cells and function optimally—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I picked this up after seeing an interview with Dr Murad. It’s a short, stress-free summary of health guidelines. Very no-nonsense, blissfully free of fad diets or fad ideas. If you have been reading upon health topics in the last few years (ie Matthew Walker’s Why we sleep etc) than the book may not give you much new information, but as said, it’s a very good summary of sensible ideas. It’s worth your time.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I started reading this book, but I don't think I was expecting a comprehensive how-to for healing my cells. It took a while for Dr. Murad to get into the meat and potatoes of his anti-aging plan, but he did eventually get into it and most of his work makes sense. I did feel like his writing sounded suspiciously of an info-mercial and was trying to sell me something, but you can get over that feeling a few chapters in. I've studied nutrition for a while now, and he laid out the building blocks and the foundation to help start a worthwhile lifestyle. He seems to have thought of everything, including a meal plan with recipes and 365 days of happiness phrases to help motivate the reader. I can't say the phrases looked helpful to me, but I've bookmarked several pages that will help me incorporate several things into my daily routine, including:
*A worry journal
*Several lists of fruits and veggies
*Many great recipes and meal suggestions
*A skin care regime

I would definitely recommend this to friends and family. I don't know if I would say this book is about relieving cultural stress so much as a general healthy lifestyle manual.
