Vicara #2

Resilient

Rate this book
In life, whether we realize it or not, we are always being tested. The decisions we make and the paths we follow in our lives have a significant outcome on the world. These are the burdens of being an adult... or in Ryan's case, being a Belligerent. The carefree life of a child bends a little when becoming a teenager with blooming emotions and a stronger self-awareness of the world around you. Couple all of that with learning deadly combat skills in order to fight for your own freedom from a life of servitude, and some who bend will break. Follow Ryan and the rest of Shifter's team in the sequel to the dystopian adventure of Belligerent as their mettle is tested to see if they can survive what is expected of them and as they learn the darker aspects of those expectations. Will they break or will they be resilient?

Resilient follows the hero of Belligerent as he continues his studies at Proserpine Academy, working with his team to the ultimate goal - Vicara, and winning their freedom. Ryan and his teammates struggle with keeping up their grades while facing rival teams and preparing for their sixth-year test - a personal trial that is surrounded in mystery. We also learn more about each member of the team's past - including some interesting relatives! Resilient was a great second installment to the Vicara series and I look forward to reading more. The book moves quickly, keeping a steady pace for the entire narrative. I look forward to finding out more!
