Just like the author’s previous book, Roly Poly Monster, this is another charming little book for young children, and one that again enthralled my 4 year old grandson. Again, nice simple and appropriate dialogue for a young child. The fun style of writing and rhyming particularly amused my grandson:

“Something fun to do... Going to the zoo...”

Once again the reader is treated to another fun day out that any youngster will immediately relate to, this time a fun trip to the zoo to see all the exciting animals. This is a story that will ignite a child’s imagination with its bright and vibrant illustrations, talk of ice cream and picnics and having fun, not to mention Roly Poly Monster, the fun and friendly monster star of the story. Another great addition to what I hope will be an ongoing series of such books.

I got this after I fell in love with Roly poly monster. To be honest, i am sad that there aren't more Roly poly books to catch up with. But here is a warning, my kid wants to get Rolypoly merchandise after reading this. The monsters are so huggable. Andrew Tober has done a great job with illustrations, bright and colorful and fun. They tell the story on their own.

Roly poly is excited - he goes to the zoo with family, and he has so many cute animals to see. I love the way the author has tried to rhyme.

I won this book through goodreads, and am so delighted with it. The format is so easy to read and is one that little one's will not get bored with. I am passing this on to a great grandchild who just turned 6 years old. I am sure he will enjoy it and will re-read it often. Thank you for awarding me this lovely book.

Choo! Choo!

What’s not to like about Tober & Tober’s ‘Roly-Poly Monster Goes to the Zoo’? Charity Tober has done an excellent job of crafting the text for this children’s book, which scans very nicely and only hints at the underlying rhyme. The overall rhythm is perfect for reading aloud to your pre-school kids and the length is just right.

Andrew Tober brings superb drawings, in particular Roly-Poly monster and his parents—although my particular favourite is one of the monsters they go to visit at the zoo. (There is a strange dichotomy here: monsters going to see monsters in the Monster Town Zoo, although it’s probably no different from watching the great apes at your city’s zoo.)

The illustrations are gorgeous and the text sits nicely (in a fun font) alongside. This is by far the best-presented children’s book I have seen on a Kindle app. Each page is set in a cloud-like background and depicts Roly-Poly Monster at various points in his journey, all connected with a dotted line. The inclusion of the main character three or more times along that line is tremendous, it lends the book a sense of dynamism as we see Roly-Poly Monster bounce along his way. The detail Andrew Tober brings to each page is superb; some of my favourite include Roly-O’s, cloud-shaped trees (and what is unmistakably a duck in a tree) and a one-eyed tiger saying ‘meow’.

Everyone of Tobers’ characters look happy, whether it’s the title character, or a three-eyed purple panda in the zoo. Keep an eye out for a baby monster which is seemingly all smiling teeth. Just as Roly-Poly Monster starts to flag, his mom takes him for monster fries and bug juice served by a purple octopus, before clickity clack, a train ride on a twisty track.

Before we exit through the gift shop, there’s even a gorgeous map of Monster Town Zoo (the tiger is actually a Mountain Catclops). This is an excellent book, and you will enjoy reading it to your own monsters. Choo! Choo!

The exciting adventure of a chubby monster ball

Roly-Poly Monster is this furry red ball that gets to go to the zoo after breakfast on a sunny day, in the aptly titled Roly-Poly Monster Goes to the Zoo.

Amid the bulbous, colorful atmosphere, the rotund monster bounces and rolls his way to the zoo, along with his parents, hopping into a bus that will take them to The Promised Land.

Once at the zoo, Rol-Pol has a blast seeing all sorts of animals, eating “a yummy monster lunch” and ice cream, going on rides, and riding around the park on a train.

Prior to leaving, Rol-Pol and his parents hit the gift shop for a toy. A full day at the zoo.

Before you know it, the adorable Rol-Pol is asking readers to review his adventure on Amazon and Goodreads. So cute!

Rol-Pol's jaunt to the zoo might have been more stimulating with a bit of a hitch to overcome during the day’s festivities. Even the tiniest of tots needs a little mayhem in their yarns.

But Roly-Poly is decent for what it is and may put a brief smile on the kiddos' faces.

Charity Tober has created another adorable children’s book titled Roly-Poly Monster Goes To The Zoo. Roly-Poly Monster and his family go to the zoo for a fun family day. Along the way, he sees all types of animals and he even gets to feed baby animals. He gets to eat lunch and play on the playground. He takes a train ride around the zoo and he is able to bring home a new friend from the gift shop. His day was perfect at the zoo.

Children can relate to taking a trip to the zoo and all the fun things that Roly-Poly got to do. My granddaughter and I talked about trips that she’s had to the zoo. I really like the fact that the story is about something that most children have done in their own life and can think about their own trip while listening to the story.

The words and rhyming are very age appropriate and the illustrations are colorful and vibrant. My granddaughter loves to trace Roly-Poly’s activities and she loves following the train path .Charity and her husband Andrew make a great team that creates children’s books that are lovable, adorable and relatable.

I would recommend this book to those who enjoy reading stories to their children that are relatable and full of color and rhyming. It’s a fun book for an adult to read and the children just love it. I am looking forward to reading about Roly-Poly’s next adventure.

Three-eyed pandas!

Feeding the pink…whatever-it-is…at the petting zoo!

Monster meatball subs, and ice cream for dessert!

Then a zoo-train ride, and a new friend from the gift shop.

Roly-Poly Monster has had the best day of his life. And it was thanks to his parents, who’d planned this outing just for him.

If I had little ones, this would be the perfect book for them. The words are easy to understand, and would also be a terrific story for those who are just learning to read. I loved the family ambience, and the love that was evident among the main characters.

What really sets this book apart, however, are the illustrations. The artist, Andrew Tober, did a wonderful job of creating this monster world. The animals and monsters are friendly, beautifully rendered, and their colors are uncomplicated and cheerful. I loved the “movement maps”, meaning the dotted lines that showed Roly-Poly’s trail from one place to another. It really is like following a small child through the zoo. There is a map of the zoo train’s trail through the exhibits too; it would be fun to help a child follow this track to the different areas and animals.

This is the second Roly-Poly book Ms. Tober has published, and I hope she has many more to follow. Great writing!

I read this with my 6 year old son. We had a blast! There is so much going on in the illustrations with Roly-Poly Monster hopping all over the page leaving a dotted line trail behind him as he explores the zoo. My son enjoyed tracing the trail with his finger! The story itself was written with a mix of words that he could sound out and others that I had to read. Taking turns reading became game and soon he was really concentrating on trying to sound out the larger more complicated words. I usually have a hard time getting him in the mood to read with me but this book grabbed his attention right from the beginning. It also gave me the perfect opportunity to show him how a map and key work using an illustrated railroad map in the book (his favorite page)! I had a hard time getting my tablet back from him.
Big round of applause to both the author and illustrator!

Roly-Poly Monster Goes to the ZooRoly Poly Monster Goes to the Zoo is about a remarkably unscary little monster who goes on a trip to the zoo with his colorful family. As I read through Roly Poly's exciting day at the zoo I felt as though I was taking my own trip through the wacky minds of Charity and Andrew Tober. Ms. Tober tells a delightful tale with attention to rhyme and rhythm, while Mr. Tober's illustrations are zany and colorful. I really had a great time reading this book, it made me want to go BACK to the zoo!
FYI to let the authors know, while I wanted to follow on social media my Kindle Unlimited book did not allow me to click the links. :(

This is a beautifully illustrated children's book. Full of bright colours.
There are a lot of elements that children can relate to. As the story starts Roly Poly rolls out of bed. His mother and father are there and then he has his breakfast. After breakfast the monster family go to the bus stop to catch the bus to the Zoo. There are lots of things at the zoo and lots of strange animals to discuss.
I enjoy the lilting rhythm of rhyming stories and Roly Poly monster is an easy short story that can be read over and over and over again.
Every time I read it the children discovered more exciting things on the pages.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book reminds me of the old Family Circus comic strip. I love following the trail of where he has been. It's a very interesting concept for a children's book; different than most - the character's path is always left to right through the book. And there is a nicely detailed map of the zoo that kids can spend a lot of time with. The book includes rhyming words, but the cadence is off and makes the rhyming ineffective in my opinion, but the illustrations are great and it's a good read.

This really is an excellent book for young children. The story chronicling Roly-Poly's trip to the zoo and the illustrations are wonderful. I especially liked the map of the zoo showing all the different animal areas and fun places. Kids will really like following the train around the zoo using the map. I wonder where Roly-Poly will bounce to on his next adventure?

This is a sweet little book about Roly-Poly monster's trip to the zoo.
The illustrations are bright and colourful and there is a great map of the zoo. The book is written in rhyme however I found the rhythm to be a little off but it was still a nice read. My daughter liked the book especially the train!

I liked the illustrations. There was a lot to look at on each page. I could see that a young child would like to take their time to look at the different animals. I did think the rhyming was a little off which made it a little difficult to read out loud. Children like simple rhymes. Overall I did like it.
