I may not be interested in the career my parents pushed me into, but I have them to thank when I meet my handsome boss on the first day of my internship after college graduation. He’s the only man ever to spark my interest—some may say obsession. Hoping the old adage is true that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, I spend the summer baking, searching for the recipe that will have my boss tasting and falling in love with more than just my desserts.
A Taste of His Angel is a standalone, spicy short story featuring Shayla & Bailey’s parents, Miranda & Sherman, which takes place nearly twenty years before The Guardian’s Angel. Happily ever after guaranteed.
May Alder would like to thank her life-long maladaptive daydreaming disorder and rampant #daddyissues for the storylines that have been brewing in her mind for years. Her need to turn them into something productive, a positive instead of a negative, has spurred her to write her stories and release them into the world.
So, the couple in this book is the parents of the heroines in this series. And fuck it, it's cute. Hell, I might even say, I like this story more than theirs. It's a simple story with an oblivious male lead and a chasing female lead. Like, come on. It's so fucking cute.
This was a lot more taboo than I expected to read this morning. This man spent more time choking the chicken than a farmhand during harvest season, and I was not prepared. 😂
It was hilarious watching the heroine try to seduce him with cookies, cakes, and pies. The food puns alone had me cracking up.
This workplace romance doesn’t give the two much of a chance to get acquainted at first. Their relationship really starts to take shape when they’re preparing for a cookout. Sherman Fischer loves his sweets—especially a good cherry pie—and Miranda is determined to prove she’s the woman for him.
This is a standalone featuring Shayla and Bailey’s parents, which means I’ve once again picked up a series completely out of order. Now I’m even more curious about these characters and what they bring to the larger story. Time to add yet another series to my ever-growing list.
This short, sweet, and oh-so-spicy prequel to “The Guardian’s Angel” takes us back nearly 20 years to when Miranda first set her sights on her (older) boss.
If the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, Miranda is determined to make Sherman hers! She’ll gladly offer him her cookies and pie 😉 Sherman doesn’t make it easy though and she has to do a little chasing to prove she belongs by his side.
This is a perfect novella-sized romance for fans of age-gap, insta love, workplace tension, and irresistible chemistry! If you haven’t yet read “The Guardian’s Angel”, this is the perfect place to start for a little background on the relationship of the main character’s parents (it won’t spoil anything!)
Once again, May has absolutely nailed it with this book! 📚✨
I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading the whole short story in one sitting—honestly, I just wanted more! 😍 Sherman and Miranda’s story was such a great look into Shayla and Bailey’s parents, showing how they met and came together. 💕 This book hits the perfect mix of swoony romance with ALL the steamy spice! 🔥
I’ll never stop recommending May Alder’s books, and this one is no different—definitely a must-read! ⭐📖
Short but oh so sweet. Wink wink. This author always writes the best characters and has me laughing. And she’s also great at sexy sex scenes. I feel like I remember not liking the mom too much when I read her eldest daughter’s book. I felt like they kind of used their eldest daughter to take care of their kids and I just didn’t like that. But I could be wrong because I read it a while ago. But I definitely liked her and Sherman in this book. Just super cute and the Insta love was just the way I like it.
I’ve been anticipating this authors next release for a while and I saw she was releasing this one beforehand and figured I’d give it a shot. I’m not typically a novella reader, I just don’t really enjoy them and prefer when there’s time to really explore the characters and such. I feel weird rating novellas on the same scale as full length novels cause they’re so different so I’ll leave no rating. But, it was a cute, quick story. But I’m definitely more excited for her next release!!
That epilogue PERFECTLY set up His Guardian's Angel! I love these characters, so seeing Miranda and Sherman's love story begin was so sweet (literally).

OMG I just love all of May's books and this was definitely a special treat to get a bit of Sherman and Miranda's story! I just love how Miranda set her sights on her "older boss" and went for it! The part where she catches him in his office was so funny too! Love the love they have for one another!
How did May Alder cram all this smut in? I am begging for a full-length novel.
This is the story of Shayla and Bailey’s parents (Shayla is from “The Guardian’s Angel” and Bailey is from “His Relentless Angel”) and explains so much about Shayla and Bailey. You don’t have to read Shayla and Bailey’s books but it’ll add more to the experience.
May you did it again girl! I loved it, learning about Miranda and Sherman! I’ve loved this whole Angel series and I need more! I hope we get the rest of siblings too lol 😂
This “prequel” was a winner. Perfectly written. We get all of the steam that we expect from this author, but none of the cringe that could have come from reading about the parents of previous characters. Definitely recommend.
A little inappropriate workplace…umm…self care (him) followed by some light stalking (her). I kinda like it when both main characters are ridiculously in the wrong. Listened to on Read Me Romance podcast.
Ahhh i loved this prequel to the angels series. It had just enough spice and these daughters didnt just get their mothers looks but her determination too.
For readers looking for steamy age gap boss x employee this is for you.
This was so sweet and spicy! Love all the puns and innuendos surrounding cookies & pies hahaha loved getting a looking into Sherman and Miranda’s lovelife!
Love this whole series!!! My favorite is Baileys story I’ve read it twice…. Also payback Penelope. But all the books are great one of my new favorite writers.
