Darcie is sent to the Isle of Skye for some book research. It’s really the last place she wants to be. Enter Logan who is supposed to take her around Skye. I didn’t really care too much for Darcie at the beginning of the book. She changes as the book goes along and by the end I liked her a whole lot more. This was a little romance mixed with a little mystery. It’s a nice addition to this series.
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When ambitious city girl, Darcie Freeman is sent to the Isle of Skye to conduct research for a travel guide, she’s horrified. The prospect of having to travel to a remote island in the Scottish Highlands leaves her wondering what she’ll do.
Step in Logan Burns. Gorgeous and adventurous, he lives and breathes the island, and along with his sister Iona, who owns a rather haphazard PR company, they’re going to show Darcie everything she needs to know about Skye.
As Darcie swaps her designer shoes for her walking boots and her faux fur jacket for her raincoat, will she learn there’s more to life than the picture-perfect presence she shares on social media, or will it be the case that Skye is the limit…
My Opinion
A Scottish Island Summer is part of the Scottish Escapes series. Julie Shackman has written a delightful novel that is easy to read. Darcie isn’t too impressed when she arrives on the Isle of Skye, but can Logan change her mind? An adventure and great character development await the reader of this charming book. What are you waiting for? Pack your bags and join Darcie as she writes her travel guide.
I am so happy to have given this book by Julie Shackman a try because I absolutely loved it! This book is full of adventures, a bit of romance, a bit of mystery and a lot of fresh air from Scotland! This book was so well written and so well documented, I now really want to visit the isle of Skye in Scotland! It seems so beautiful! I give this wonderful book a 4 stars out of 5! You can go ahead and pick this book if you love travelling and love romance!
A Scottish Island Summer is the eighth book in the Scottish Escapes series by Julie Shackman, all standalone novels, but all captivating romances that bring the beauty of Scotland to life in all its glory.
In this story, we see Darcie, a social media influencer and travel blogger, head to the Isle of Skye to get enough research and photographs to write a travel guide about Skye. When she first meets her local guide who has been hired to show her the beauty of Skye, Logan, she is both attracted to and irritated by him.
I loved the way in which their relationship blossomed as they spent more time exploring the stunning landscape on the island. Logan really warmed to Darcie as she relaxed and changed from the designer-clad princess who arrived on Skye, into an appropriately dressed and intrepid person willing to throw herself into every experience Logan introduced. Darcie even had time for a little matchmaking along the way. Although I struggled to warm to Darcie because of her values as a social media influencer, I felt this aspect of her character was accurate, as I have friends who work as content creators and who constantly strive for ‘likes’ because of the relentless pressure of staying relevant. I think the nature and history of Skye allowed Darcie to really breathe and take in the splendour around her.
What I loved the most about the story was the vibrancy of the descriptions about Skye. I was captivated by the colours and charm conveyed within the words, so much so I felt transported to Skye, a bucketlist location for me to go to in the future.
I enjoyed the mystery that Logan and Darcie became involved with, searching for a Viking tribute to a lost love. I found the story behind this mystery and the hunt for clues really entertaining.
A Scottish Island Summer is a wonderful escape to Skye, with mystery and romance intertwined with the enthralling beauty of this Scottish Island.
Book number eight of the ‘Scottish Escapes’ done and dusted. Whilst this hasn’t been my more favoured story, I still enjoyed being transported to the Isle of Skye and following what Darcie gets up to.
Undoubtedly my most favourite aspect to the plot was seeing Darcie evolve from stroppy, self-centred influencer, to someone who realises that the number of likes on social media is not the definition of a happy life. When Darcie first arrives on Skye, she cannot wait to leave and her haughty attitude sees her unimpressed with the beauty that Skye has to offer. Indeed, I found the foil dress to be a very entertaining affair and this made me warm to the story immediately.
Yet, as I settled into the narrative and warmed to watching Darcie and Logan come together, Shackman introduces the subplot of finding the elusive Skye Lovers’ Cross, a precious necklace that has been hidden for centuries and is steeped in the Isle’s folklore. To be honest, I didn’t care too much for this mystery and found it more of a distraction from Logan and Darcie. I preferred reading about how this spoiled influencer is trying to create a travel guide for a place she dislikes, rather than attempting to find a piece of Skye’s history.
Despite these misgivings, it was still an enjoyable story and I think Shackman truly does the setting justice. Having read several stories set in this part of the world, readers are transported to the wild beauty of Skye and all that its countryside has to offer.
Another bit of escapism from Shackman, the romance was definitely what I needed and I really enjoyed seeing dreadful Darcie change for the better over the course of the novel.
With thanks to One More Chapter, Harper Collins and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was really looking forward to reading this as it's set on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Skye is my favourite island and I have a lot of wonderful memories from visiting there over the years. I felt the author's information and descriptions of it were excellent.
Unfortunately I disliked Darcie at the beginning. She came across as selfish and entitled. However, I am delighted that we see her grow as a character as the book progresses, especially with the help of Logan who I thought was a great character. There was a great mix of other characters, including Iona and the mysterious man!
Darcie certainly changed as she faced the challenges, set by Logan, which were material for her book. I found some of these highly entertaining.
A slow burn romance and a mystery to solve as well made this a lovely lighthearted read which I would recommend.
Thank you Rachel's Random Resources for my gifted copy and spot on the tour.
I came very close to setting this aside as a DNF at several points through the first 1/3 of the book. Normally I like the author's character, but I found the heroine extremely unlikeable. A social influencer, Darcie seems completely self-involved, interested only in besting her chief rival (who is currently more successful). Instead of going to one of the usual glamor spots she's used to, Darcie ends up on Skye for three weeks to write a travel book thanks to her agent. Darcie is determined to hate everything about Skye. She's quickly assigned Logan, a nice, easy-going geologist as her guide.
Eventually we learn more about why Darcie is the way she is, and Darcie begins to change and redeem herself (all in a very brief period of time). The ending was quite nice, which is mostly what earns this three stars rather than 1 or 2.
Darcie, a bustling city girl and accomplished travel blogger, finds herself reluctantly sent to the enchanting Isle of Skye to research an upcoming travel guide. As she navigates the rugged landscapes and picturesque scenery, she meets Logan, a charming and easygoing local who becomes her guide. Initially, Darcie comes off as self-absorbed and difficult to like, but as the story unfolds, she embarks on a journey of personal growth, gradually transforming into a more relatable and endearing character.
The narrative beautifully weaves together elements of romance and mystery as Darcie unexpectedly gets caught up in the quest for the legendary Skye Lovers Cross—an elusive archaeological treasure steeped in centuries-old folklore and local lore.
This is the eighth instalment in the Scottish Escapes series, and I've had the pleasure of reading one other book in the collection. The breathtaking Isle of Skye serves as the perfect backdrop, with its dramatic cliffs, serene lochs, and quaint villages providing a vivid setting that transported me back to my own visit just seven months ago. Despite my fondness for the island’s beauty, I found it challenging to connect with Darcie initially, even as she evolved and matured throughout the story. changed throughout the book.
I started reading this while visiting Scotland and finished on the plane home. Interesting to read a story that takes place somewhere that you have just been too. Nice, easy reading story. The story line was a bit predictable, but it was a good read. I just love the Isle of Skye because it is absolutely breath-taking as described in the book.
This is another warm, witty and fun novel from Julie Shackman! A Scottish Island Summer takes a look at social media influencers, a historical Skye treasure hunt, an unlikely romance between a city gal and a country guy and protection of the natural environment that includes saving a trapped dolphin. Then there are fresh starts for a few couples, honesty confessions, wake-up calls to what is true and beautiful and heaps of other topic gems.
Darcie Freeman has lost her parents and convinced herself she does not need anyone. She is a city girl with big ambitions. She wants to be the best influencer possible; to take every opportunity that comes her way so that she can become self-sufficient. She is sent on a trip by her agent to the beautiful, though somewhat remote, Isle of Sky to gather research for a new travel guide to be published. She is accustomed to creature comforts but once landing on the island she discovers things are different from what she expected. On top of this, the woman Iona hired to help her is just starting out. But she has connections to the person who can be Darcie’s guide on the island. Logan Burns is that man. He is handsome, intelligent, adventurous, humorous and flirty. But best of all, he knows every nook and cranny of the island and can provide Darcie with the best educational experience possible. But Darcie is not impressed by his wit and manner.
But we know there is going to be a romance spring from this encounter, even though Darcie is fighting it tooth and nail for she sees relationships as complicated and chaotic. When she lands on the island, her career is the most important thing in her life—and the path she must take to be on reality TV, to get sponsorship deals and even one day own a radio or TV travel show. She is only here for the opportunities it may lead to. Once she leaves Skye, after collecting enough material for her book, she will forget all about the place. So this trip is a ‘means to an end.’ Well that’s her plan but that is not what happens and Skye manages to ‘worm’ its way into her heart. She goes on some amazing adventures with Logan, meets some wildlife, takes lots of photos, and even encounters some prehistoric remnants of dinosaur footprints and fossils. I actually looked this up and yes Skye is a palaeontological location of world importance.
On this journey across Skye, an unexpected mystery occurs and Darcie gets involved. This part of the story was quite fascinating to follow. As we walk on a path seeking the historical treasure, the imaginary or real Skye Lovers Cross, some fantastic clues and people appear. And a certain person’s credibility is challenged and reinstated. But what happens with Logan and Darcie? You can take a guess but read it and see!
This fun-filled, witty, delightful mystery romance has plenty of challenges and resolutions for our protagonist. And learned lessons, too, such as: ‘Take time to appreciate the here and now, and the opportunities that you have been given, rather than focusing on what everyone else is doing. Don’t be someone you’re not. And don’t live your life through a screen.’ Good advice! Author Julie Shackman has provided another fantastic read and its summer vibes line up well with Australian readers! 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Social media influencing is a trendy timely subject. Over-the-top influencers with their slick videos, perfect trips where nothing goes wrong and lots of product endorsements are everywhere on social media. As fascinating as they are they're also annoying. This brings us to Darcie Freeman.
Darcie has gotten to the point in her "career" where it has gone to her head. She believes that fans are the only people who matter and it's her right to take luxury vacations promoting stuff all on someone else's dime. Having to be video ready perfect has become ingrained and it's like high school where you'll just die if you get a pimple. It's big business and Darcie is slipping down the ranks, panic sets in. She's sent to Scottish Isle of Skye by her pushy agent to write & photograph a travel guidebook, thinking she's being punished and this place is the portal to hades. Unlikable for the first part of the story it turns out she's not empty-headed and cold.
Handsome local Logan is hired to be her guide and he leads Darcie on a three week awakening journey. Logan is a simple guy happy with his life, loving his home and manages to teach her simple doesn't mean dull, he's got a romantic soul. Camping by the beach, picnics, tours of old castles and gardens. I'd never thought a geologist would be handsome, fairly young, interesting and swoon worthy. It was an enjoyable read and I loved the HEA, it's a favorite ending trope of mine.
3.5-4 🌟 stars The Scottish island setting was the initial draw to this story for me and the author really did do the island's natural beauty and history justice.
I needed to read way past the opening to actually have any sympathy or connection vis a vis London influencer Darcie, who travels to the Scottish Isle of Skye almost kicking and screaming because it isn't glamorous or a sun-soaked beach! Darcie enters the action totally obsessed with her media presence and her rivalry with River, an influencer who has outstripped her recently in the race for lucrative luxury sponsorships. She's the archetype of a pampered, appearance-obsessed social media star and it gives lots of latitude for her transformation to a more caring, relatable person the longer she stays. Her three weeks on Skye got good, even humorous, and romantic, with some great vignettes of Skye's sights and an emphasis on the hospitality and friendliness she encounters.
So, better story as it progressed, with a slow burn attraction to local Logan and even a mystery to help solve. And the ending had all the romantic vibes I wanted. I just don't understand the title choice, since the action takes place in spring, not summer!
Thanks to HarperCollins UK/One More Chapter and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Opposites attract in A Scottish Island Summer, a gorgeous summer romance set on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Author Julie Shackman sets the scene beautifulky, balancing stunning sunsets with misty rain so that you can really immerse yourself in the story. Darcie Freeman, a London luxury travel influencer, who is jealous of her competition, feels as though she’s been sent to purgatory when she arrives on Skye dressed in her designer clothes and with not a warm jumper or walking boot in her suitcase. she’s very definitely a fish out of water in this story. While I couldn’t help but feel for her when she was told where she was going and why, I also thought she was both spoiled and stuck-up when she made her appearance on the page. Thankfully, it’s not long before she discovers the magic of the island and the appeal of one resident in particular. Her approach to the world mellows as the story unfolds, possibly helped by the very appealing Logan Banks, who soon becomes her guide. Logan is a geologist but he’s also very knowledgeable about the island, well able to give as good as he gets when Darcie lets loose with her snark. I loved both the banter between these two and that while they are clearly attracted to each other, it’s clearly not all about stunning good looks. This book is pure escapism and ideal for reading either on a beach or curled up with a hot chocolate on a winter’s day.
Although part of the Scottish Escapes series, A Scottish Highland Summer can be enjoyed as a standalone novel.
It follows Darcie, a fast-paced city dweller and successful travel blogger, who is reluctantly sent to the Isle of Skye to research an upcoming travel guide.
Initially self-absorbed and difficult to warm to, Darcie embarks on a journey of personal growth, aided by the breathtaking Scottish landscape and the easygoing charm of Logan, a local who becomes both her guide and unexpected companion.
The novel masterfully blends romance with mystery, as Darcie finds herself entangled in the search for the legendary Skye Lovers Cross - an ancient archaeological treasure steeped in folklore.
The Isle of Skye itself becomes a character in its own right, with its rugged cliffs, tranquil lochs, and picturesque villages providing an atmospheric and immersive setting. I felt like I had been transported to Skye thanks to Shackman's storytelling.
While the evolving romance and treasure hunt added intrigue, I found it difficult to connect with Darcie at first.
However, her development throughout the novel made her transformation more rewarding.
Shackman’s writing brings the setting to life, making this an enjoyable read for those who love Scotland, second-chance journeys, and a touch of adventure.
With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collin UK, One More Chapter for providing this book, with my honest review below.
A Scottish Island Summer was the type of sweep you away book that filled the brief, being charming and easy to read and taking place in an absolutely gorgeous location. There are dashes of mystery to accompany the romance and some self discovery and empowerment that make this book an easy way to wile away the day.
Darcie is the one spending her summer on the Scottish Island of Skye (three weeks to be exact) though it doesn’t feel like fun to her given she’s only in the remote location because she feels she’s playing second fiddle to another influencer and the travel guide she’s been asked to write could help raise her profile. Sadly while Skye is full of charming people and gorgeous scenery, Darcie is more concerned about her hair going frizzy and curly in the non stop rain (same though, girl). But as the weeks go on Darcie finds herself thawing with her guide and brother of the local PR rep, Logan, and starts to realize her shallow existence chasing likes and sponsorships may not carry as much meaning as she thought. Add to that a real Skye mystery and we see Darcie start to come into her own… but it may be too late for her fledgling romance.
Influencer Darcie is sent to the Isle of Skye by her agent to vlog and to write a travel guide for the island. She isn't best pleased as her arch nemesis has bagged a much more high profile opportunity in a much warmer climate. It doesn't help when she finds that her first sponsor event ends up with her changing into a tinfoil dress in the back of a van by an obviously inexperienced PR agent. This is one of those books that grows on you, helped by the description of Skye that really brought it to life for me. Darcie initially comes across as a very spoilt, hard nosed girl, totally unprepared for the rigours of a Scottish Island, but you gradually see the softer, more caring but still very professional side of her. Her guide for the Island is Logan, the PR agent's brother, an experienced geologist who doesn't seem that impressed by this city girl. They gradually start getting used to each other when they become involved in a mystery which is when the story really came to life for me. In summary another excellent book set in a beautiful part of the world. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
The Isle of Skye is ever-present in the story and the colours and light of the environment adds to the atmosphere, as well as being intrinsic to the story. Darcie arrives on the island with all her city preoccupations and you see her respond to what she sees as she travels around the island. Darcie seems like the complete opposite of Logan when she meets him. He avoids social media and looks down on it as a rather shallow way of life, you sense.
Darcie's actions which are all fuelled by her ambitions to compete with other social media influencers, put her at the mercy of others' self -interest. She can be impulsive and envious and speak before she thinks. However, you feel that beneath this veneer, there are different priorities. Some of her actions have been part of her desire to protect herself from heartbreak. She has put on a veneer of ice to stop people getting close. Several of the people Darcie meets on the island can see beneath her act. The mystery at the centre of the story adds interest and shows you how Darcie has reassessed her future and how she wants to live her life.
In short: escapist romance with a mystery to uncover Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book
In this charming Scottish romance novel, readers join city girl Darcie Freeman on the Isle of Skye to write a travel guide in the hopes that it will give her career the boost it needs. However, she is totally unprepared for the remoteness and wildness of the island, but Logan Burns and his aspiring PR worker sister Iona will give her the insight into their home and its wild beauty. As Darcie acclimates to life on Skye, she will have to confront the dual lives she leads and whether returning to the social media influencer life is worth giving up everything she has discovered on Skye. Entertaining, charming, and well-written, readers will love the romance and adventure at the heart of this novel because the characters are so charming and complex. Darcie and Logan’s relationship, as well as Darcie’s friendship with Iona, really bring the novel to life, while other side characters and side quests will only draw readers further into the story. Skye is a perfect setting for this novel, and Shackman really brings its town, its wildness, and its beauty to life in incredible detail. Escapist and charming, this is a great new novel to read on vacation or when one is in need of a vacation.
Thanks to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, and One More Chapter for the advance copy.
I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources. This is part of the Scottish Escapes series, and I've read a few others by this author.
At first, I wasn't sure what to make of the protagonist, Darcie, as she seemed fussy and preoccupied, and not the sort of person that I would click with. This was just a first impression though, and I found that I did connect with her a little bit more, as the story progressed. I enjoyed the cosy, feel-good atmosphere, and the other characters seemed warm and friendly.
I really liked Logan; he was exactly the type of character who made my heart melt. I enjoyed how the author worked with Skye as a setting, bringing it to life for the reader, with beautiful descriptions of the scenery.
This book was full of moments that warmed my heart and made it flutter, and I enjoyed my little escape to Skye.
Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel's Random Resources, and to the author and publisher, for the opportunity to read and review this.
Darcie is a successful social media influencer who specialises in travel blogs. In such a competitive arena, she is constantly scrutinised and looking for the next lucrative opportunity. After a downturn in her influence, she is heading to the Isle of Skye to find material for a travel guide rather than the exotic places she is used to. After a few false starts, Darcie reflects on her current life and its superficial nature as she sees the value of the Scottish island lifestyle. I enjoyed the setting and how the author brings it to life through immersive sensory imagery. The emotional connection between Darcie and Logan develops believably, and their slow-burn relationship is realistic. A pleasing balance of angst and humour shows the characters' complexity. The archaeological mystery that spans the generations gives the story additional depth. The ending is romantic, I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
I’ve enjoyed several books by Julie Shackman before, so I was pleased to be offered a chance to review A Scottish Island Summer.
I have to confess that I didn’t warm to Darcie to start with. She just seemed to complain a lot. However, she soon mellowed a bit and I liked her better. She seems to be a good person at heart, but very controlled by fleeting emotions.
I liked Logan a lot more, though admittedly he seemed a little irritating on the first encounter.
The setting was lovely. Skye comes across as a really beautiful location, even if it does rain a lot. I loved the coral beach especially (though it doesn’t sound comfortable to walk or sit on!).
I liked the plot too, with the treasure hunting and the romance. It felt like a holiday from the here and now.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable romance, with a beautiful location, and a touch of adventure.
I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own.
'When ambitious city girl Darcie Freeman is sent to the Isle of Skye to conduct research for a travel guide, she's horrified. The prospect of having to travel to a remote Island in the Scottish Highlands leaves her wondering what she'll do.'
As soon as this book started I knew I was in for a treat! Glamorous, city loving Darcie would rather be reviewing a high end, swanky hotel in a hot, desirable location but is instead stuck roughing it in the Highlands.
As the story progressed it was great to see Darcie strip away the high maintenance style and embrace the more practical attire suited to the rough, rugged terrain, and a certain rough and rugged rock god named Logan 😏
The plot of the story was entertaining, heart-warming and a journey of self discovery for an out-of-town girl, slightly lost in life and not always making the best choices. Once the barriers were knocked down, and her unhealthy obsession with social media crumbled away Darcie finally realised what actually matters in life, and what it feels like to be truly happy.
A must read feel-good book, full of fun and set on the beautiful Isle of Skye - what more could you want?! 😍
Thank you @onemorechapterhc for gifting me this beautiful book 🫶🏼✨️
As the story begins Darcie is enroute to Skye, to complete research for a travel guide that she has been commissioned to write. This is a world away from her usual luxury travel to some of the most enticing global locations. As a social media influencer, Darcie is used to being pampered and the thought of this trip fills her with irritation but she needs to increase her audience. Unfortunately, she arrives in Portree to be met by a nervous windswept young woman who is to be her PR contact. This is the start of her adventure which will lead her to question her behaviours and to find a real connection to people and the magic of Skye.
This is the latest instalment in the Scottish Escapes series and is an excellent next chapter. I particularly liked the setting which really brought Skye to life for the reader. The characters are well developed and although there are the usual romantic literature tropes, the story does not feel contrived. I would have liked the mystery to feature earlier as it was resolved very quickly but it provided a great way to tie up the different parts of the story. I did find the title rather confusing as I thought the story was set in the Spring. This is a great read and I can't wait for the next book.
I'm grateful to have enjoyed an ARC of this book thanks to NetGalley.
Darcie is a young single woman in her 20s that loves adventure, but is primarily focused on her career and not on romantic relationships. I always find storylines amusing when a woman comes across a man she fights against her attraction to, and this one certainly didn't disappoint. It was so fun to read and see how Darcie grew in more ways than one, especially after letting down her guard with Logan.
If you're up for character transformation, an adventurous storyline, redemption, and achieving hopes and dreams, besides opening up your heart, this book would be right up your alley. As an American, I find the Scottish elements of this book to be quite amusing, as I'm certain that you might too.
A lovely book to escape with to the Isle of Skye. I really didn't like our leading lady initially who seemed completely vacuous and lived her life in social media, only happy when she got lots of likes. It was good to see her gradually fall in love with Skye and quite frankly, get a life. She realises the world is out there, just get your eyes off of your screen. Our hero, Logan is fabulous and I liked him from the off. It's a slow burn romance with a side helping of a mystery thrown in. I've not read any of the author's other books so I can quite genuinely say that this book can be read as a stand alone as I did. Lovely descriptions of Skye, an Isle that I have great fondness for from my childhood.
i bought this book in a little bookstore in portree, purely because i liked the idea of having a romantic book set on the isle of skye. but omg!!!
the story started off simple and didn’t fully have me yet, although i absolutely loved reading about places on the isle of skye that i had all been to during my road trip last september!
the story kept getting better once campbell was added. how fun to include this kind of storyline!!
logan had me from his very first mention in the book. ugh to have a man like logan. it took me a while to start liking darcie, but i guess that was kind of the point hahaha.
i really want to go back to the isle of skye. this book gave me such a strong longing for that beautiful place🥹🥹
The eighth in Shackman's 'Scottish Escapes' series and my third of the series, A Scottish Island Summer took me off to the Isle of Skye to meet new faces Darcie and Logan.
Whilst a slow burn romance isn't always to everyones taste, I actually enjoyed it as it gave me some time to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding areas and learn a thing or two about Skye.
They say opposites attract and that couldn't have been more true...Darcie and Logan were like chalk and cheese with absolutely nothing in common, then boom stars collided and they became the perfect match.
Engaging and enjoyable it was the perfect escapism to brighten up a wintery day in January.
If I have to read about another pussy bow blouse, I think I'm going to lose the plot. Is this the only item of ladies clothing that Julie Shackman is aware of??
That aside, this Scottish based romance follows the typical arc. More could have been made of the gorgeous scenery around Skye but at least the heroine comes to self realisation fairly painlessly though the constant complaining about at the beginning of the novel was starting to grate a little.
I feel like I'm now reading the books in the series out of some weird sense of obligation to collect them all rather than truly enjoying the novels.
We'll see if I get suckered in if and when there's a next one!?
