The Rough Riders #1

Deadly Seduction

Rate this book
Welcome to Northern Nevada. The scenery is idyllic, the people are friendly and three Motorcycle Clubs rule the tri-city area between Reno, Carson City, and Lake Tahoe with an iron fist.

Gisela wasn’t introduced to the thug life, she was born into it. The daughter of an American gangster, her life has been carefully orchestrated with private education, a law degree and now a respectable law firm.

Cillian is not an average criminal, he was brought up in the Lucifer’s Saints MC and is now V.P. of a powerful criminal enterprise. He’s a survivor and luck has always been on his side until he’s charged with the murder of an undercover Fed.

An unconventional love story, unfinished business between these two passionate people—physical, emotional and professional—will spark a fuse that will leave a path of death and destruction in its wake.

I'm saddened to say that I just could not bring myself to finish this book. The characters rubbed me the wrong way and I felt as if something were missing.

I'm a complete MC fangirl so I was super elated when I had found out that there was going to be a new series taking place BUT... this just did not do it for me.

I'm sorry guys!! *ducks head and runs for the hills*

Review
I have to be honest and say that I did have a hard time originally getting into this book. There were so many names and so much information I had to understand before I could get into the meat of the story.

I was ready to put it down, but I kept hoping it would turn around and sure enough it did. Once I understood who was who, I was able to focus on the main characters of the story.

I think though if the story was focused more on Gisela and Cillian and rebuilding their past relationship, this book would have grabbed readers from the very beginning. Their past love and the work they had to do in order to get them back to where they were before was both heartbreaking and joyful at the same time.

Re-Cap
Gisela is now a high paid lawyer who manly deals with the criminals from the MC clubs in Nevada. She has had a past with Cillian and it comes to pass that Gisela must represent Cillian in court. The sparks fly as soon as these two are in the same room, but the hurt is still there for Gisela and she must make a decision what type of lifestyle she wants to lead. Can she let go of the past and forgive Cillian all the way up the present when she first sees him again coming out of her neighbor’s apartment. And he wasn’t there just to borrow a cup of sugar.

Wrap Up
Follow their journey from re-kindling their lost love to Cillians scrape from spending the rest of his life in jail for killing a Federal Agent.

I first read this book when it was released in 2013. I came back to read the second edited version and am so glad that I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the story line and the characters in this book. Yes, there are quite a few characters to keep track of but IMO there was clarity in their connection. The positive in having so many characters is that I look forward to reading other books in this series for each of the characters. I became invested in the major characters and was drawn totally into the family drama surrounding so many of them. Cillian and Gisella are the major characters in this book and they have such a tragic relationship but finally end up with their HEA. This story is a prime example of how parents sometimes make decisions for their teenage children with all good intentions but end up screwing up the very lives of those children. Cillian and Gisella first come together when they are 16 years old and make some bad decisions, which ultimately separate them for twelve years. Cillian is one of those good men who do bad things and you will love and hate him at the same time. He is the oldest son of the president of Lucifer’s Saints MC and his father is as far from a role model as a father could get. Cillian is put in many bad situations because his father truly puts the club before family. Cillian does have a conscious and often regrets his actions but sees no way out other than to honor his father’s wishes. Gisella is a strong woman but she is an enabler. After a 12 year separation, she and Cillian come back together and their relationship is fraught with problems but they struggle through to the other side. I look forward to reading more about this couple in future books. The thing I left this book thinking is that no matter how bad your actions and justifications, there is redemption at the end if you seek it in the right way. If you have a hard trigger for cheating then this may not be the book for you. However, if you can read the situation and realize the reasons and the end results, you will like this love story. It will wring emotions from you as you see into the lives of people who live in the underworld of crime whether it is the mafia or the MC’s. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

I love biker books, but a number of things in this story didn't work for me. The first hook-up after being apart for so many years, had me cringing. Their was a lot of cheating and the connection between a number of the characters 'bordered on being incestuous' (that part is quoted from the story) and not my interpretation.

I got why some of the cheating happened early in the story, but not further on.

There was a lot of mention of underage sex, but it never appeared to be a crime, so I won't get into that.

The story could do with some editing, although some places I wasn't sure if it was an error or the way they spoke. I'm pretty sure there was something wrong with this though "He was still sharp as attack".

On top of all of that, I had the Irish slang to decipher:
- "To teach youse two a lesson" - I had to google youse, is it even a word?
- "You fookn' ruined me life and I fookin' hate youse for what ya did". **still scratching my head.

So nope not a winner for me.

Very poorly written with many grammatical, punctuation and malapropism errors. Seriously, the expression is hem and haw, not hee and haw. . . that was a red neck comedy show from the 70s.

Besides the issues with grammar, I knew it was going to be a bumpy ride when the family relationships detailed in the early chapters began to run together like biblical genealogy. There's almost nothing appealing about any of the characters. The male lead, who should be an alpha biker, suffers from low self esteem. The female lead is supposed to be an attorney who smokes pot almost every night, but clearly never suffers from munchies since she still fits into her wardrobe of tiny clothes. The president of the MC/father of the male lead has no interest in keeping his son/club VP alive, treating him like a delivery boy. There is not a single likeable character in the whole motley crew.

I cannot recommend this book, nor will I be reading any further installments in this series.

I got this book in a deal that included several biker books for a low price. I had already read half of the books in this compliation book "a ride or die kind of love"... and some of those books (hell's knights, undeniable, craving constellations) were totally awesome, so I bought this hoping the books I had not yet read, would be good. ummm, this one was terrible.

I do not even know how to sugarcoat it and say something nice. I feel bad giving it a bad review, but wow, it was almost a DNF for me. I am glad that I finished it, but I had to force myself to keep reading.

I got to 35% and wasn't invested in book enough to finish it. I don't like to not finish books especially as it was an arc. Im Sure others will enjoy this book plenty but there were too many mcs and characters seemed introduced really fast. Maybe it was just too much post Christmas.

If you read and really enjoy comeback and tell me to give it another go.

ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review.

Gisela is an attorney in her own firm, Jackson and Hughes. She is also the daughter of Raymond Jackson, a ganster.
She provides services to the local MC, the Lucifer Saints. She has a past with one of the members, Cillian "Killer" Cox. They fell in love as teenagers and despite the decades apart they still love each other. Although, sometimes love can feel like hate.
When Cillian and Gisela are forced to break apart as teenagers, Cillian makes the mistake of marrying someone else. He doesn't love his life and just wants to go back to Gisela.
Gisela has never forgotten Cillian and no other relationship has made her feel what she lost when Cillian left.
Suddenly, they are forced to work together when Cillian hires her as his attorney for Club business.
Can they forgive and forget the past? Or will the mistakes they made in the past repeat themselves.

I really wanted to like this book because I love other MC series but I felt disconnected toward the characters. I was never truly invested with the hero or the heroine.
In fact, at some point the hero does something unforgivable in my eyes. It completely turned me off from the story. I was so mad about what he did that I almost had to stop reading. There is no excuse in my book for what he did and I think Gisela was way to forgiving.

In addition, at times the story felt confusing. Too many characters were introduced.
I understand the author is trying to create the structure for books to come but it felt too rushed.

There are some mixed reviews out there for this book and I don't feel I'm in either camp. It's definitely didn't give me that 'wow' factor, but I read it over two days, so that indicates to me that I connected with the characters. At this stage, I'm not ready to rate this book, not because I don't like it but I think I need to read it again before the next book comes out.

I read the synopsis and it had me interested, that continued with the sample excerpt but then not long after that there was so much detail, that felt disjointed and I don't know if I absorbed the whole story, missed some or it just wasn't there. The dialogue used by some of the characters didn't seem to flow. I understand some was written in 'sic' and other dialogue was relayed, hence no accent /style used for the same character portrayal.

Usually I would know if I do or don't like a book but not with this one, I know the story has been left open as it will continue but the last chapter to the epilogue omitted what I think was the major essence of the plot

Would have also liked to hear more about Giselle's family, assuming this may be left for a future book, but again I think this was missing from the story. Apart from flashback chapters, I don't recall them featuring in the present storyline. I can't imagine a mafia father not being a significant part of his daughter's life.

I'll give the next book a go and will rate the series, rather than the books.

Not as good as the 5 star reviews made me expect...

I agree with other reviews that there are so many names and connections between three MC's, one mafia family, one cartel family, and all the investors links between them now and before, not to mention all the illegitimate kids being had by all ages! I felt like I needed a Ancestry.com Family Tree app to keep track of who belonged to who. Once the author got past all the jumbled world building in 3 chapters or less, the story focused on Cillian Cox and Gisela Jackson, childhood star crossed lovers who were torn apart and had there son taken for adoption at birth when they were 16. Now 14 years later, he's the club hitter and VP and she's a criminal defense attorney who handles all the MCs and organized crime legal business in their sphere. He married and had 2 more kids butt she has buried herself in her career and a loveless booty call with a married client.

So, he's a jerk who can't keep from screwing whatever he fancies even when he has the future right in his hands for his second chance he cheats on Gisela! As for being VP, he doesn't have a lot of voice in club matters. His father is president and turns to his 2 lifelong friends as confidantes rather than his son. The three old timers have a stranglehold on the club and how things are done. Cillian doesn't stand up to him, he just follows orders, which usually get him in trouble. I just couldn't really develop a liking for any of the characters beyond the superficial. This just wasn't my style I guess.

DNF after chapter 2.

The sheer amount of information given to us within chapter 1 was absolutely mind boggling. Why are you introducing characters or information as almost a summary of what we are going to read. It was like the author drafted a family tree and outline for the story and used it as an introductory chapter similar to what you might see in a term paper's introduction paragraph. This is a fictional book, I do not need to have all of this information before the story even begins. I am not going to remember how characters are related before I ever meet them! We are in the MC, introduce those characters and the others as they enter the story.

I knew I wasn't going to enjoy the writing right away, so I bailed. Sorry, couldn't do it, since part of an anthology, moving on to the next story.

I read this book as part of the A Ride or Die Kind of Love collection.

I liked the idea of this story I just thought it could have been written better, there were quite a few grammar/spelling mistakes so some parts of the story didn't make sense and there were a lot of characters. A lot of names were thrown at you during this book and I found it hard to keep up with who was who and from which family/MC they belonged so I never felt attached to any of them.

The storyline was readable it just needed some fine tuning for me to really be able to enjoy it.

Im surprised I actually finished this book. I'm glad I wasn't convinced to out right buy it. The only thing I liked about this book is the concept of the plot, NOTHING ELSE. It was horribly toooo confusing. If you like getting sidetracked right when you're thinking you understand what's going on, next 10million different (non main character) backstories start, & then back to the main characters again. Then this is the book for you, DEFINITELY NOT ME! WAY to many back stories placed continually throughout the entire story.

Holy Mother Of God... Lord have mercy... Baby sweet Jesus this book is AMAZZZZZING!!!!!

When I started I was unsure, there is a lot of people that gets introduced and the MC club and the area and the rivalry in the tri-state area. but I kept reading and the more I did the more hooked I become.
After about chapter 5 there was nooo bloody way I was putting this bad boy down I finished in a matter of hours.
I became infatuated with the whole biker culture after reading an interview on a blog with Joanna Wylde about her Biker book series and actually talking to real bikers and including some of their stories in her book so of course I bought it and I have not looked back since. I have becoming a little obsessed well more than a little but as much as that world fascinates me I have never felt that its a place where someone like me could ever imagine fitting in.... that is until I read Deadly Seduction now (Ride To Temptation) . I was disgusted with the lack of morality then as I read I found it so much more appealing there was one point where a member of Lucifer's Saints killed an informant I was coming up with ways in my head to dispose of the body (How sick am I but I just could not help it crime and violence just does something to me. I want to feel horrible for admitting that but I don't)
Selene does what a lot of other authors are unable to do; successful integrating different backgrounds (some ethnic) and culture to reflect the status of society today. Sometimes when I read certain books I read as an "Outsider" but not even for one second wiles I read deadly Ride To Temptation did I felt like an outsider looking in. I could have been right there in northern Navada engaging in all the craziness and I would have been welcomed with open arms. (If that's makes any sense at all)

Well moving on to the story itself, I really enjoyed and admire every word. Gisela and Cillian (Irish name so it's pronounced with a K) were young lovers who shared a forbidden love; She is the Daughter of Gangster (who runs a massive empire) He is the first born son of the Lucifer's Saints MC MVP these two groups do not get along (that's putting it nicely) So when she falls pregnant at 16 the two set of parents come together in order to separate the young lover. After their precious child was taken away and place within the Cox's family the pair are left devastated and heart broken.......

Thirteen years later where is book takes place Cillian & Gisela now lead separates lives. He is married with two kids and she is living the high life as a defense attorney (well she represent the various criminal organisations in the Tri-sate area).

You would think they would both be happy to leave the messy past in the past. WRONG they are both miserable without each other not really living life just existing going through the motion. Now VP of LS Cillian shuts down his emotions to become "The Killer". He is about to do something that will require her help in the aftermath so for the first time in thirteen years he seeks her ironically he was leaving his whores place (who happens to live next door to Gisela) when they spot each other. I will not say one more word because I have already send enough but this book is the f**king bomb I loved it; sexy, steamy, edgy, raw, violence to keep you in the edge of your seat. A leading lady that is actually THE LEADING LADY (SHE'S THE F**KING BOSS #LOVEHER)
"Don't think you're gonna f**k me again until you tell me what you didn't let me know. Until then, enjoy the feeling of blue balls.
I have a very reliable spy, Cillian. If I find out you've been with a Saint Slapper. I'll cut it off"~Gisela (told u she's awesome)

Plus she is the the princess of a gangster empire. Cillian is the Alpha with demon and insecurities that makes him appear more human and normal to some extent.
"No matter how tough a guy portrayed himself to be, they were still emotionally weaker than us women, even big bad alpha bikers"

He allowed his inner emotions to pour out in the arms of the only women he has ever loved.
Will their love survive a second time around? read to find out
QUOTES

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review.
I gave this book 5 stars.
This is book #1 in The Rough Riders Series.

First let me say this. This is a book about a Biker Club, it is not pretty, it is not perfect. I have seen several reviews that say that could not get into the book. Or that there was too much information given. I honestly did have a hard time at first getting into it, because of all the information about the club etc.. BUT I do feel the information should have been given. I do believe this book is worthy of the 5 star rating that I have given it. It is not just focused on two characters, it is focused on the club too. And that makes for a great series that I am sure will be amazing!

This is Cillian and Gisela's story.

Gisela met Cillian when she was 15, they were from opposite sides of the track and although I am sure if their parents knew they were together they probably would have forbid it. Not until something happens and her parents find out about their relationship do they put a stop to it. Now years later, Gisela is still in love with Cillian (pronounced with a K)Every relationship that she has had has been compared to him. She has become a successful Lawyer just as her parents wanted. To them she is picture perfect. But Gisela is not happy, she is in love with Cillian.

Cillian has always carried a torch for his beautiful Gisela, but once her parents put the stop to him seeing her. There wasn't any way he was going to get her back. He moved on and married a woman that is a nightmare. She sucks at being an old lady and all she does is sleep with all his brothers and anyone else that will take her. She is a drug addict and a Whore. What could be worse is that Cillian sleeps around with everyone too. Club business causes him having to seek out Gisela's help, and of course she is in love with him she would never turn him down no matter what the cost.

This story is not only about Gisela and Cillian finding love again. It is about the dangers of being in a bike club and the things that they do. How they back each other up, how they come together as one family. It was a beautiful story, with some very sad circumstances. It was a rough book but that is what you get when you pick up a biker book.

It had hot steamy sex in it and great surprises. I for one loved Gisela she was a strong leading lady. She did what she believed in and never compromised herself. I do believe that there is a lot we would do for love, especially the one that we know is the one. And that is what Gisela did, but I still think she hung onto who she was. And that is what drew Cillian to her. Because she was different. And she made him a better person, instead of just being by his side as a girl. She was by his side as a woman who loved him, and who wanted what was best for him. And also understood his life choices and the things that he had to do.

There were parts where I wanted to kill Cillian, but he is a biker that is how he was raised. But all in all he respected Gisela and knew she was not just some ordinary stupid girl that was going to stand by his side and do nothing. And that is what he wanted, that is why he loves her so much because of the person she is. If she would have swallowed all the things that he did and said nothing this would have been a very different book, because I don't think that Cillian would have ever looked at her twice.

Thank you for this great book, I can't wait to read what is coming up next for these two and in the future with this club. <3

Our 3 Star Review

Cillian is the VP for his motorcycle gang. His father runs it and he does the dirty work, but it's wearing him thin. Cillian is almost 30 married to a woman who cheats on him and doesn't really even take care of their kids. He only got together with her and married her because his parents wouldn't allow him to be with the girl he loved when he was 16, she got pregnant and was part of a "rival" gang. Now 13 years down the line he's miserable and his father is about to make him do his biggest job yet. Killing a fed, he's killed before, plenty, but this time everyone knows the heat will come down on him. The only person who can help him? His childhood love, Gisela who is now an attorney who helps get off every criminal in the northern Nevada area.

Gisela is a hard core kinda girl, she doesn't take any crap from anyone, except her now reunited long lost first love Cillian who needs her help. They get together and face their troubles together, but can they overcome all the obstacles?

Okay, so I wanted to like this story, but it was just way too confusing. The first two chapters, apart from the fact that it just dove right in without any real understanding of the back story, you were told so many names and given so much random info you have a very small chance of keeping up. Then you have the alternating POV's, which I love except you can never keep up with the constant changing between 1st and 3rd person. Gisela's POV was pretty set as a 1st person, but Cillian was constantly changed up. This story also showed all the characters using drugs and doing plenty of other illegal activities. This is my personal preference here but I don't enjoy a story that showcases drug use as acceptable behavior. Weed yea ok fine but coke and meth no not so much.

Cillian knows what he's unhappy with, but he does next to nothing to change his ways and go after what makes him happy unless he's directed to by someone else. I saw him as a very weak male lead and his only redeeming quality was taking the rap for someone else. Once he finally got the girl of his dreams he can't even stay faithful to her!!!

Gisela is tough and intelligent and a great woman except when it comes to Cillian. She tries to steer him the right way but it's a constant uphill battle and he does next to nothing to help her. Yea I understand she loves him but allowing him to walk all over her gets old, even when she pushes back and lets him know she's not his dim-witted ex and won't tolerate his b/s behavior.

If you stand back and just remember the basics of the story it allows you to enjoy it so much better. As long as you don't let the dozens of names and random bits of information to overwhelm you. My favorite part was the ending, and no that's not a dig at the story being over, I enjoyed the last couple of chapters the most because I finally was able to understand the story and what happened in their pasts to bring them where they were when the story started.

I loved the blurb for this book, the VP of a Nevada MC and a gangster’s daughter? Oh yeah this was so right on my radar.

Gisela is a high flying lawyer but her clientele is the local gangsters and MCs. As the daughter of a gangster who is infiltrated with the Nevada MCs, she knows what is expected of her. However on the day she is asked to act for Cillian it brings all their past to the present. Could she ever forgive him? Could they move past what happened in Ireland all those years ago?

Cillian is the VP of the Lucifer’s Saints MC in Nevada. With his Irish charm and his good looks, pulling the women has never been a problem for him but only one woman ever held his heart and that woman was Gisela. After all these years nothing had changed in his feelings for her but then when they are suddenly pushed together in the lead up to his last deed and subsequent trial, can old feelings be reignited and the past be recovered?

There is a lot for the reader to take in on this first book of the Rough Riders series. So many characters, so many MCs, leaders, history to take in that it did get a little confusing for me and I lost my way in parts. I kept having to read back to know where this person was from and if they were friend or foe.

I loved the concept of the great love that Gisela and Cillian had but some of Cillian’s actions were not the actions I would think the man getting a second chance would do. The part with his friend’s pregnant wife and he did to her what he only ever did with Gisela? It just took away the whole emphasis of this being a once in a lifetime love.

Now I love my MCs hard hitting and my Pres and the church mega alphas but for me Cillian was quite….well…weak. In some area he acted like a little boy and I kept thinking ‘just grow a pair will ya?!’

So overall, yes I loved the concept, the world but a little less detail of the whole MCs and Gangs with all the names etc. in the beginning. It needed to be gradually throughout the book. I liked Gisela and the idea of the great forever love but Cillian just didn’t do it for me. Obviously this is my opinion, others may love his weakness but I just needed him more kick-ass.

A well written book and I will look to reading the next in the series as I know first books in a series are always the hardest to encapsulate the set up. Overall I did enjoy reading it and loved the Irish connection – about time an MC book brought this in, so kudos to the author for this.

3.5 - 4 Stars

I love and adore MC books. After reading the synopsis for this book I was very excited to read it. The characters sounded great and the plot was interesting and caught my attention.

The book starts off introducing Cillian Cox - VP of Lucifers Saints MC in Northern Nevada. He loves his brothers whether they be of blood or not and would do anything for them. Though growing up within the MC, with the years of murder, drugs and other crimes is starting to take it's toll.

He ends up running into his childhood love and old feelings start to return. He starts to question how he has handled his past and if he can reclaim what once was. If things can go back to what they had in the past. After all this time he has never been able to get her off his mind and no girl has ever come close to comparing.

"You're mine, you've always been mine and you always will be regardless what happens between us. If you think I will let you go a second time, you have another thing comin' woman"

Gisela is no stranger to the crime life, growing up with her dad and the mafia. Now a successful defense attorney and partner in a law firm, she is wealthy and successful. With everything ahead of her, she is placed back into the life by the one man that has always had her heart and soul. She finds that there is no choice but to defend him in the fight of his life when he is charged with the murder of a federal agent.

"It pained me because after all these years had gone by, I could no longer pretend like I didn't care about him or wonder how he was doing every second of every day. When I lost him, it was like a huge chunk of my heart had been taken"

I loved the guys in this MC. They are rough and tough just as they should be. The bond between the characters is great, how they are always there for each other in times of need.

The story moves very fast and there isn't that normal resistance that I enjoy in a romance story. I like them to fight hard for what they want. They seem to fall right back into their relationship that ended abruptly 14 years prior. The scenes between them though are hot, steamy and what you would expect of a naughty MC VP.

The storyline is a bit much and hard to keep up with introducing all the characters that are involved in a book such as this. The explanation of their MC, other multiple MCs, mafia, gangs, ect. However once you get reading you start to decipher who is who and it makes it easier to follow.

I would have loved to see Cillian and Gisela not give in to themselves so easily. However, I did enjoy their story overall and read it in 2 sittings. I did like the supporting characters and will be interested to see how their story continues in the next book.

“Deadly Seduction” by Selene Chardou is a love story, but not your typical love story. This one is all about the inner workings of hardcore motorcycle clubs in the Northern Nevada area…specifically the MC known as “Lucifer’s Saints” and the struggle of Cillian and Gisela in their fight to reclaim lost love.
I LOVED the concept of this story…and holy HOTNESS Cillian, pronounced Kill-e-an, even has an Irish brogue, so ya know I’m just picturing Mr. Hotness Colin Farrell…as badass biker man Cillian. Gisela, not unknown to crime life, as her Father is a “mafia crime boss” of sorts… is a tough, no nonsense attorney whose life was specifically mapped out by her parents for her to attend law school and become an attorney all to help her Father and his associates circumvent the law in future illegal activities.
So, like I said, great story concept…motorcycle clubs, hot dangerous guys riding bikes and lots of sex! And Selene doesn’t pull any punches…nothing is sugar coated; I’m not kidding, murder, drugs and gun running… Selene keeps the story very real and completely within the context of the subject to what she’s writing about; this ain’t rainbows and unicorns and glittery rays of sunshine. Now, with everything I liked about “Deadly Seduction”, there were just a few things I really didn’t like… waaaaay too much information crammed in the first couple of chapters, too many other MC (motorcycle club) names, too many other member names AND their history and backstories, it was just so much to take in…. I had to keep going back and forth to try to make sense of it and finally just gave up… I know it was probably to set up future books, but I wish Selene would have just left off most of the information and concentrated more on Cillian and Gisela. Also, I didn’t like Cillian as much as I usually like the leading alpha male character, he just didn’t seemed a bit wishy-washy at times and just as I was getting past that…he goes and pulls a really dick move just when he and Gisela get their relationship back on track. I won’t say what it was he did, but with already being on the fence with his character….after that, I just really couldn’t find anything to like about him at all.
Overall, “Deadly Seduction” is a love story with so much reality I have to wonder if Selene Chardou isn’t a “Motorcycle Mama” herself! It’s gritty, it’s realistic and it’s hardcore like nothing I’ve ever read before.

I have read just about everything our author has written under her pen name of Selene Chardou, and loved all of them. Having said that, this is my first MC novel... so I was a motorcycle club virgin when I started this book.

Sex, drugs... and motorcycles? Absolutely, with some killings and a lot of jumping around beds and having sex with other bikers wives, girlfriends, and getting into a lot of trouble. Almost incestuous! Think Sons of Anarchy with musical beds... in the end, all the clubs have members that are related to each other! Hard to find someone not related.

The love story between Cillian (pronouced Killian) and Gisela (pronounced Jisela) is both heart wrenching and beautiful. From the age of 15 and 16 years old, they have loved each other. Parents interfered, lovers separated and the rest is a story to appeal to our romantic side.

Selene Chardou is a seasoned writer. The ONLY reason I did not give this a 5 star rating was because there is too much information regarding all the cross copulating between the clubs. It is good to know these folks use sex not only for diversion but for revenge, etc. and in the end they are all guilty of some of the vendettas that arise from finding out your child is not really yours, but the child of an enemy club member. The problem comes when you attempt to provide all this information in one book and there is so much of it and so many characters involved the reader might become dizzy from all of this. Still this story is top notch if you are able to skip some of the sections dealing with what I call the "begat" sections. You know, like that section of the Old Testament that goes on forever talking about who married who and begat another who.

Having said that, I do recommend this book. The main story is worth reading and absolutely enjoyable.

I received this book from the author and Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.
Deadly Seduction is book one in the Rough Riders Series.
In Northern Nevada, there are three motorcycle clubs that rule the city. Cillian is part of one of these clubs, the Lucifer's Saints. He's the VP and stands to inherit the club from his father. He's survived this far and will have to fight to continue to do so when he's charged with murdering a Federal agent. Gisela is a law attorney who represents mostly criminals and low lives trying to get them off easier. Gisela and Cillian have a past together but their future was stolen from them. Now years later, Gisela is asked to represent Cillian in his case. This might be the chance to reconnect and amend the past, if Gisela can keep Cillian out of prison.
This is a very unconventional love story. It's not an easy story to like and enjoy if you don't have an open mind. Deadly Seduction essentially deals with criminals and thugs. There is no good guy per say and you have to be open minded to the realities of the lifestyles. That being said it wasn't a bad story. The characters are real with no filters or fantasies. They are definitely not perfect and stumble along the way. The plot was okay. I like both character's journey better then the general plot/action of the story.
There was a lot that was thrown at you in the beginning. I was overwhelmed by all the different names and I found it a little hard to keep them in order. There were a couple times I was confused as who was who and part of what club.
This story is for a mature audience.
I recommend this story for those who are open minded and not afraid to explore the criminal life.
I would give this book 3.5 fangs.

I Received An ARC Of This Book In Exchange For My Honest Review!

This is the first MC (Motorcycle Club) book I've ever read. When I first started this book I was unsure of what to expect. I had a vision in my mind of what guys in a MC would look like and honestly that was all based on movies I watched when I was younger. The men in this book did not fit the image I had in my head and all I can say about that is YUMMY!

Cillian (Kill-e-an) Cox, he hates it when you pronounce it with a soft C, is the VP of Lucifer's Saints the MC he grew up in. He's a definite Alpha male that does have a sensitive side and isn't scared to cry in front of his Old Lady. He has a Irish accent that kicks in every now and then during the book I think it is fookin sexy.

Giseala (Je-sell-ah) Jackson is a prominent defense attorney who runs a law firm. She also takes cases for MC's and Gangsters which is what brings Cillian Cox back into her life. They were in love as teenagers but due to circumstances and parents things didn't work out.

If she can get the current charges against him dropped then they will have a second chance at happiness without him doing life in prison. Neither of them have stopped loving one another and if truth be told they haven't been the same since they were teenagers.

This book flowed easily from beginning to end for me. It grabbed my attention quickly and pulled me into the story and kept me engrossed until the very end. Selene wrote a book packed full of action and romance. I look forward to reading more from her in this series. This is a must read for fans of motorcycle clubs and alpha men.

The story itself was not bad. In fact, after a couple of chapters, It gets interested. At the beginning, it was confusing. Too many names, too many characters, and way too much information given in just a few pages. It was confusing. I had to go back and forth re=reading and trying to understand what was going on.

Moreover, I felt the Author intended to elaborate as much as possible, but to me, it was not necessary, which made the story dragged at times. Cillian and Gisela really made a beautiful couple, and their love was strong, however, their story was not.

I do not know why I feel not satisfied with this book, like it could have been great but somewhere in the story was sidetracked. I would've like more interactions between them. See another side of Cillian, not only the good one. He was trying too hard to be good, and he actually was, but Never thought I would ever read in a Motorcycle Club story, a VP that cries so much. It seemed like Gisela was the male and Cillian was the female. She was way more stronger than him. Which is good in a way, but the way he was portrayed, it was too mild for my taste.

I don't know if it happens to you, but I feel bad for the characters when I am not 100% happy. Like if they are my friends and I am being dishonest. I am elated that the Author said, the story of Cillian and Gisela it is not over yet. YAY! perhaps, next time, we will be able to see another side of Cillian.

Again, I liked the story. Am I going to keep reading the series? Yes. It could've been great but the bar just went up to GOOD!

I truly struggled to finish this book. The characters were absolutely horrid. Cillian was nothing but a cheating idiot that even when he had the chance to be with his long lost love he chose to cheat on her anyway....with his brothers pregnant girlfriend. Who does that!! What made it worse was that Giselle found out about it and she did nothing....absolutely not a thing. For a smart woman I found her frustratingly infuriating. She more or less told Cillian that if he cheated on her again he just needed to be honest and tell her but that she didn't need details. Oh she did threaten to cut off his balls next time but how would he take her serious when he knew she loved him unconditionally. Altogether these two just infuriated the hell out of me. I don't condone cheating but I'm well aware it happens quite often and I've read many books where there's been cheating but most of the time there is some type of remorse. I didn't feel like Cillian had any of that. Another thing that got to me was that you've got this biker dude that has the nickname Killer but he sends his girlfriend Giselle to talk with his own dad to try and get him to ease up on Cillian and stop sending him on missions that would jeopardise his court case. Oh and let's not forget Giselle thinks her so called best friend slept with Cillian and thinks nothing of it. Please!!! The list could go on and on actually for what I didn't like about this whole story.

Hmmmmmmmmm Not even sure what to say here. I thought the story had too much insignificant details and not really enough time of "their" story and their emotions. There were sooooo many side characters as well as their own backgrounds to their stories (which I assume is to lead to future books in the series)but that left me so confused and I felt very lost. There was a deal breaker scene in the story and when he voiced his opinion on his cheating with his brother's girlfriend (without a condom too, ughhh)oh wait the pregnant brother's girlfriend and to me I felt like Gisela's role in his life seemed really unimportant to him in that moment especially. After that part of the story, I was really turned off. I just didn't feel his love for her although I did at first and then he gets Gisela back then leaves her for the first time for a bike run and that's what he does behind her back??? I didn't get it and I just didn't get him either. I don't know I haven't rated and/or given a bad review in a long time and as much as I feel bad about it I am just being honest. I really didn't like it and I really wanted to. Not sure if I will continue on with this series. I may give it a second chance but will wait and see.
