I know their secrets. Most people would end their relationships with these men. These men who betrayed my trust, and in some cases, my heart. Unfortunately for me, I’m not most people. Hell, there are times when I wonder where and when my common sense abandoned me.
Then there’s the war. The war you don’t know about. The war I shouldn’t know about. But I’m centered in it because I’m a pawn of higher beings, angels. Well, ex-angels, exiles, to be exact.
The only way to stop this exile rebellion is to track down its instigator, prove it’s not someone I love. Only problem is that exiles can hide their face from the world if they choose, and most do. Then there’s that pesky fire, the ignes iudicii, which doesn’t just kill you, but burns you out of existence, out of history, altogether.
All I have to aid me in my quest are these men, until one of them betrays me. So here I stand, Charlotte Grace, essentially alone.
NYT Best Selling Author for the anthology Wicked After Dark!
I have been a fan of realistic fantasy all my life. The idea of alternate explanations for the mundane, fascinates me. As a woman with deep southern roots, I am not one who is quick to dismiss the otherworldly. However, the idea that our world isn't as big and foreboding as it seems, also plays heavily into my writing.
I am the author of fan favorite cliffhanger series, The Charlotte Grace Series and The Empathy Delacroix Series. I have also written a novel, The Underground.
Another brilliant installment in the series! There is so much to love in these characters and Charlotte just gets thrown in the ringer in this one! Olivier & Wesley just drove me crazy - in the best way! You know a book is fantastic when it causes you to flush (wink) while reading it. All around excellent and the cliff hanger at the end made my jaw drop. So if you'll excuse me, I'm off to start book 3.
I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.
> Wild Fire is the second book in the Charlotte Grace serIes and ends with a cliffhanger almost as big as the ending of the first book. We continue with the story of Charlotte, Wesley, Paige and Olivier. The first paragraph tries to get the reader up to speed with the story line so far. The most compelling truths from book one are shared, again, in a series of drug induced dreams by Charlotte. I felt that just repeating the last chapter of book one might have been sufficient. Additional truths are revealed to both Paige and Charlotte as to what Olivier truly is, answering the cliffhanger. This sharing of truths creates quite a few scenes of the 3 characters discussing what to do next.
There is still a lot of suspense as the reader tries to figure out who can be trusted and who is being manipulated. The plot was a little more difficult to follow, with the end of the world hanging in the balance. The love triangle is turned upside-down. Charlotte's dreams continue, but become bothersome, I felt, as they didn't contribute as much to the story as they did previously. There are also some dance sequences with so much technical description that I tended to gloss over those paragraphs. I realize a true dancer would enjoy the terminology, though.
> This book also ends with a cliffhanger. There was definitely more descriptive sex, both consensual and non consensual in this book. If attempted rape is a trigger for you, beware. I enjoyed having all my questions answered from book one, but just as many appeared in this book. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what happened next.
Wild Fire is book #2 in the Charlotte Grace series. I would recommend reading book one first that way you can understand the story and what's going on. These need to be read in order. This picks up right after the 1st ends.
Charlotte is still figuring out who she really is. This is action packed with things continuously occurring. I love that things are answered in this book helping me to understand more. It does open up new things to be answered. It's hard to go to in detail without ruining the book for others to read. The war is still going on and Charlotte has stood strong with her love and friendship to the men who have lied to her. She is a very understanding and loving character.
This leaves us with a huge WHAT THE??? Ending and you will be ready to dive into book 3! I am ready to find out so much more!
I am in love with this series! The author has done an outstanding job with weaving her magic on us. I am captivated and intrigued. I cannot get enough of Charlotte, Wesley, Oliver, and Paige! 5 stars!
I think this was better than the first one. Although I still find it a little bit confusing about what's being expected from Charlotte and Wesley at times, I found the plot so interesting. Charlotte has been dragged deeper into Olivier's world and brought Paige with her. As he lets them in on his secrets their whole lives change. Because of all the fb teasers Wesley was my pick, best friends getting together has always been my favorite. At the end of Smothering Embers I hated Wesley. Turns out it was for nothing but then I really did hate him. Its something that Paige says about 75% through that's makes me realize what's going on. Charlotte and Oliver have gotten closer especially after he saves her from an attack. It ends with a cliffhanger that almost reveals what I'm suspecting to be true.
Wild Fire is the follow up to PM Breide's debut novel, Smoldering Embers. Charlotte Grace lives in the world of the arts. She discovers that all is not as it appears in her own life, especially with the men she draws into her world. Olivier stands guard over her as an exiled angel while she lives in the real world, choosing between Wesley or Paige. But, what is real and what is illusion?
We experience the world through the mind of Charlotte Grace. The book has enough paranormal, romantic and psychological elements to draw you in and keep your attention.
Wild Fire is fast paced with well developed scenes and characters.. I believe this book is even stronger than the author's first and I look forward to reading any future books she writes.
Book 2 of the Charlotte Grace series. This book starts immediately where book 1 left off. I can't imagine not reading the series in order, I think you would be lost. The same few characters are central in all three books of the series. Each story is told from Charlotte's first-person point of view. Ms. Briede weaves a tale that surprised me in a subtle way as to its paranormal genre. I see Charlotte, Olivier, Wesley & Paige as just normal, every-day people...until events outside the normal realm occur. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but this particular book stirred more emotions in me than book 1 did! I am immediately going to begin book 3, and have to assume it may knock me flat and into an emotional all-out stumble! I can't wait!
I found that Wild Fire did a great job at answering the questions Smoldering Embers posed while in turn, asked new ones to be addressed in Ashes. The turn of events was fun and enticing, while keeping us grounded in our own world. Charlotte's transformation of character was subtle yet potent. Upon learning more about each character and their relationships to one another, the reader feels more for each enduring as they do. The descriptive nature of this novel depicts so many emotions throughout, sometimes conflicting emotions all at once. The only thing that had stopped me from diving into the next novel was a need for sleep.
Amazingly intriguing story, that ends with more questions! I got so wrapped up in this story, that I nearly didn't pause to review after book one. I DIDNT stop after this one, and plowed right in to book 3! I am ashamed.... You'll understand why, when you get to the end of Wildfire, though. It has one of those "WHAT?!?!?" endings, and you have to know how it pans out. That said, here's the scoop on book 2: things are escalating, majorly, and everyone is confused as to what they are supposed to be doing, who to trust, etc... It's a major mess, but what near-apocalypse isn't? Read this, you'll love it, trust me...
Wild Fire is the second book in the series so we learn more about the lovely Charlotte Grace. I really liked how it fleshed more out but beware of the cliffhanger!
We learn more truths in this story and just overall was awed how much I loved this series. I think this one is my favorite so far but I have yet to read book three yet.
The plot was much more developed overall. Much more graphic details which fitted in well with the storyline and characters. I for sure recommend reading these in order to get a full grasp on this series. Highly recommend and loved <3
So this is the second book in the Charlotte grace series and I read it mostly because I need answers, and because this series is so unique and different from anything I have ever read before. This isn't a genre I would normally read, the paranormal aspect had me at a loss at times because it is all new to me. However, there are plenty of twists and turns in the story that will keep you wanting more, and the romance kept me from putting it down. Great book and I am immediately jumping into book 3 Ashes.
An excellent Book 2 in this series!! It was so satisfying to get answers that remained from the previous book! The main character, Charlotte, has so much to figure out and overcome in these pages. The author definitely doesn't give her a moment to breathe. The plot picked right back up after explaining things in the beginning and left me wondering how all of this will ever work out. Scenarios in the book are written in such detail and depth. You can really see it and feel it. Much like the first book, I couldn't put this one down, and you can count on my finishing the series!
This is going to kill me!!! Lol. I am so very glad that this series is finished so I can read the next book. Once again P.M. Briede has done it again. Given me a whirlwind of a journey between good & bad. Or blue & green. My heart is still racing and my eyes wide. I just want to know what's going to happen. Ugh. This is just a great book. Wow!!! I don't know what else to really say until I finish book 3. I really hope that Charlotte chooses correctly. Well, with the man I want her to be with. Lol Thank P.M. Briede!!!
This was a very interesting read and it kept me guessing who was behind all the evilness until the end. There were a lot of pain, loss, and betrayals as well which one could relate to. Charlotte Grace had to go through a lot of pain and suffering, but did she survive it all? Well I guess you will just have to read the book to find out. I would recommend the book to others as I enjoyed the book very much.
This is the second book of the Grace series. This installment picks back up right where the first one ended. We find out just what Olivier is and it was quite unexpected on my part. I did not think Ms. Briede could top the first book and was pleasantly surprised that she did. I have to say that I am hooked on this series and this author.
Loved this book! Wild Fire is the second book in the series and picks up right where Smoldering Embers ends. This book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Will be diving into book three, Ashes very soon because I need to know how it all ends.
Second book of the series, and still want more. Kept the ball rolling and I want to go for the ride. How will Charlotte deal with so much new information? How will she handle two men who love her. Read this and find out!
I don't know what to say in this review but wow! This story had captivated and held my interest the whole time! The drama, the passion, the twist and turns! Who to feel for, who not to. Who to hate, who to live. The whole book is just amazing.
Another wow! This is book two of the Charlotte Grace series, and it followed exactly where the first book left off. Almost all your questions from the first book have been answered, and now the action begins. Wild fire? More like wild ride! Can't wait to read Ashes!
PM DID IT AGAIN ! The Charlotte Grace series is absolutely one of the best series written!!! The mystery and intrigue is non stop and the love scenes are hot!! Come on book 3 I can hardly wait!!!
Wild Fire is a great addition to the Grace series! After reading Smoldering Embers I thought that this book would delay some answers as well. Boy, was I wrong! The first chapter is full of answers.
If you loved the first book, then you're going to love this one even more.
Wild Fire is Book 2 in the Charlotte Grace Series. This book is much more supernatural based than book 1. Charlotte is caught up in the middle of the battle between exiles. That's not all she's caught up in. Oh no she's caught up in a love triangle between her very best friend turned lover Wesley and her exiled angel Olivier.
I'm one of those people that struggles with books and films that are hard to read. You know those ones that you really need to concentrate on so hard they give you a headache? I found this book a little like that, now that's not to mean I didn't like it at all because I did. And it didn't take me ages to read either because I read it in a day.
I could type lines and lines of praise for this book. It has everything from hate to love. It has things, or beings, that humans should not know about but other wonder of their existence. And the author picks up the story nicely from the first book without excessive flashbacks or fill-in.
The writing is crisp with just enough description that does not overwhelm the reader but allows the reader to fall into the story. The characters come to life and the action is convincing. Even the sex scenes are done with class and not crass.
I can't wait to start the final book of this trilogy.
Wow!!! I enjoyed the depth in this book. The love.. the adventure.. the fact that it keeps you on your toes. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline and am very glad I got to review it.
