Rate this book
Competing for superior global military prowess several countries are leveraging the latest technology improvements in nanotechnology, dynamic programming algorithms, and drones for high-end in-field communications. The race is on to be the winner however, some cyber terrorists, inserting themselves as middleman, are introducing chaos.

Texas university professor, Su Lin, quietly working in her animal husbandry field of study, finds her unconventional communication techniques have put her in the cross-hairs of multiple interested parties. Her applied research of nanotechnology, coupled with hybrid programming methods has garnered some unforeseen attention.

What does research into improving animal husbandry to boost global food supplies have in common with next generation high-tech military communications?
Keith Austin Avery, a U.S. defense department contractor, uncovers new technology and leading-edge applications that draws the attention of a powerful terrorist group, with traumatic consequences.

Can he be forced to reveal the key confidential military plans, or is all this information already on the Dark Net?

The R-Group, led by Petra and Jacob, are engaged to locate these terrorists and identify government corruption before more people die. Technology programs they uncover also exposes a dire race against time to save lives.

Award winning authors, Breakfield and Burkey, provide a solid espionage thriller that incorporates a satisfying balance of technology, tension, surprisingly sensitive romance, and the blurred lines that surround the age-old conflict between good and evil in the middle of the 21st century cyber playing field.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I really enjoyed this installment in the Enigma series. I did enjoy the characters more than the plot, which I struggled to believe somewhat. I did struggle a bit with the technology parts, which kind of just went over my head at parts. But, I enjoyed seeing Jacob and Petra again, and I really liked the character of the story, Professor Su Lin.

My original The Enigma Ignite audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.

The Enigma Ignite is an invigorating listen.  I could NOT put this audiobook down and found it extremely aggravating when I had no choice!

The authors put an interesting spin on nanobots that is unusual, unique and fascinating! Petra and Jacob are together again but play a smaller role in this story letting others take center stage.  Professor Su Lin in her quiet life to improve animal husbandry and with her assistants' help makes a discovery that everyone wants at any cost!  Otto and his crew of experts combined with new characters strive to keep the deadly work from the wrong hands while also thwarting the evil terrorist hell-bent on wreaking havoc on the US.  Su Lin puts Jacob and others in a major tailspin as they race against the clock to save her.

The authors Charles Breakfield and Roxanne Burkey are amazing authors!  They know their audience and know the genre inside and out!  They have built a cohesive and captivating group of people that their readers are invested in.  Their dialogs are realistic as are their characters.  I cannot wait to see where Breakfield and Burkey take us next with the earth-shattering endings and beginnings that are going to take place in the next book!

Derek Shoales did a great job of narrating the story.  His voice fluctuated appropriately, he spoke clearly and with some of the characters spoke them with conviction (i.e. the terrorist).  I enjoyed his voice and tone throughout the book.

Anyone who loves thrillers and mysteries with an amazing TWIST – this is the book for you!!!

"When you face the dark demons..."
The Enigma series just keeps getting better.
This is not a fast paced, action thriller. Just the opposite. It moves slowly, densely filling the pages with conversations, stories, anecdotes and explanations of aspects of computer workings But don't be fooled - the tension is palpable. Once underway the story is gripping, the characters steadily gaining real personally and presence, over and above what has been received from the earlier books, and the compulsion to find our what will happen to each one is almost as powerful as pondering the futures of real life acquaintances.

Narrator Derek Shooles is back again to breath further life into each of the protagonists on both sides of the conflict, his voicing for each now being distinctive and strangely appropriate (even if the accents are occasionally suspect), making the dialogue feel natural in context. His reading is clear with good intonation and adherence to the pace of the book. And his warm voice is a pleasure to hear.
A good performance.

This is a thoughtful thriller featuring a white tiger, code cracking and compiling, counterfeit currencies, "computer generated Russian roulette", a (literal) kill switch which just keeps on morphing, conspiracies and kidnapping and murder. All good, exciting reading. But it is the characters themselves who take center stage. I received a freely given complimentary copy of Ignite at my request, from the rights holder, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you so much. I enjoyed it immensely. Recommended to all who enjoy tech based and character led thrillers.

The ridiculous descriptions of technology throughout this story are becoming tedious. And the plot isn't particularly believable either. The characters are very colorful although a bit flat and stereotypical. The romance is predictable and obligatory.

Derek Shoales performance is very good. He gives distinctive and consistent voices to the characters, although his accents aren't especially accurate.

All in all, there isn't enough realism in this story to capture and hold my attention. It's just too far over the top.

Full review to come soon.

This book was much more interesting than the second one and I really enjoyed it. I think that while the characters developed a bit, they still were a bit too flat for me to identify with. Much of the technological stuff went a bit over my head as well. But I think my main issue with this audiobook is that it felt so choppy, which I feel has been a theme with the writing the entire time. However, I am caught up in the storyline and I find myself wanting to know what happens next.

Wow this book is awesome. To merge technology with different life things. Hackers aren't looking to just hack businesses. We have soldiers and such. The R group is called in to help out with this case with a professor. Can Jacob and the team get to the bottom of this case and help others? This book ups the hacker game.

The R group is in for another whopper of a case in this one. International power struggles among various groups spark a series of conflicts that are hard to solve. The Enigma series has crafted a number of intriguing characters in the midst of elaborate plots. Narrator Derek Shoales does a good job again with his voice creations, narrative voice, and displaying the personalities of the story.
