This book was written 20 years ago, but the personal stories remain powerful. Freeman presented some intriguing ideas about Angels, theorizing about the nature and substance of their bodies and the dimensional relationship between Earth and the Spiritual Realm.

While she shows respect for other world religions, and gives a nod to metaphysics, her view of Angels is steeped in the parochialism of Church orthodoxy. She presents the raison d’être of Angels in a fairly narrow light with limited opportunities for interaction and a collapsing of scope and personality. This is in contrast to the work of Angel scholars like Doreen Virtue or spiritual teachers such as Ted Andrews, and my own views are more aligned with theirs.

Ms. Freeman speaks from orthodox Christianity in her negative attitudes about mediums, psychics, and healers which I found grating. However, her inclusion of Babylonian and Hebrew traditions which helped shape our modern view of Angels was most enjoyable. I do not agree with all of Ms. Freeman’s theses, but this was a worthwhile resource, and some of her theories produced valuable food for thought.

Angels have interested people throughout history. Ms. Freeman relates her own encounter with her guardian angel, Enniss and other angels. She also tells of encounters by others with angels. If the book stopped here, it would be interesting but no different than other angel encounter books. This book moves beyond storytelling and answers questions about angelic encounters. Can you force your angel to appear to you? How do you determine the difference between a dream, vision or a true encounter? What do angels want from us? In the last sections of this book Ms. Freeman shines a strong light on the interaction between angels and people and this is the power of her book.

I didn't particularly enjoy some parts of the book and how it was written. Therefore, I gave it an average score of 3. I've read better books on angels. I guess I'm just more partial to a person's personal life story or memoir.

This author, who has seen her guardian angel only once in her life, but has been touched in her life many times over, agrees that there is still so much we don't know about angels. In the first four chapters, she tries to make since of the physical attributes and capabilities of angels. She points out a lot of speculations about what she and others believe angels to be. She says the Bible depicts angels very much like humans; theology of the day said angels were sexless spirits. The wings were portrayed by artists who mimicked early Greek and Latin sculptures who sculpted their gods with wings. Many may see angels with wings, but that may be to grab our attention and for us to see what we think we should see as angels. They have been known to show themselves in many forms. The author does express her belief that angels are messengers sent of God and their main job is to promote love and bringing all closer to God's love.

The middle of the book lays out 7 interesting stories by others who have been deeply touched and influenced by angels. And at the back of the book, the author lays out an example and gives a number of ways on how to tell if you have truly been visited by an angel, remembering an angel will never leave you feeling confused or tell you to do something that would put anyone else out.

3 1/2 stars. This was the book my mother was reading before she died recently. I can see how it helped bring her some peace. She adopted the line, God is Love & it became a bit of a mantra for her, I think helping her to be less afraid of dying. Being a 5th generation Unitarian Universalist in the 70's, I was brought up much more liberal w/ God/Jesus/bible so to me, this is a tad bit over the top but I am a firm believer in angels, as was my mother.

This book was quite the intriguing read. I appreciate most the personal stories of angelic encounters. Because of these shared experiences, I no longer feel as if my experiences were all in my head (aka, I'm going crazy). I only wish this book included more Biblical scriptures to support all that is captured in the book. Otherwise, it is a fine read that I am sure many of us who believe in the spirit realm will enjoy.

I enjoyed this book. It has a Christian perspective but I like that it also explores other religions/ faiths perspectives on angels a bit and in an open and respectful way. The book features a lot of heartwarming stories about people whose lives have been touched by angels. It also describes what angels are like, what their purpose is, how to determine whether you had a real angel encounter or not, etc.

I LOVED this!! It's funny, I've always wondered just "HOW" angels communicate and bingo, page 50 explains it well...."How do angels speak? What language do they use? Or do they even use language as we speak it? ....by speaking mind to mind without the intermediary of a voice. ...by communicating spiritually or telepathically...they communicate flawlessly."

I've often heard people say they were visited by an angel and I've never personally had this experience and wondered why? Well, according to page 150 "...there are 4 factors that come together to determine whether or not we will ever have knowing, face-to-face contact with our angels: 1) whether it is part of God's plan 2) whether we truly understand what angels are and do, as well as what they will not or cannot do. 3) whether our motives for wanting such an encounter are pure and 4) whether we are prepared for an encounter."

Since the death of my Mom, I've always wondered if I'd be visited by HER angel or an angel who knew about her but sadly, I'm still waiting for some angel up there to visit me.

I took this book out of the library just as a fluke. I like it- alot! It explained alot about a mysterious subject. The author explains alot about the angels and it also gives first hand accounts of people who have had encounters with their angels. There is one story where a young woman is mountain climbing with her boyfriend, and the boyfriend slips to his death. She is left alone, on a cliff that is periously dangerous. She calls out for help from God and he sends some angels to help her down a cliff, that when she was able to reach help, they told her it was totally impossible for anyone to make it down from where she was without certain death.
This book is enlightening and enjoyable.

I can't remember when I had read this book probably close to the time it came out as I was going through an angel thing at that time in my life. I found this book interesting. The stories were your typical "feel good" and "life altering" stories. I think if I read it at this point I would probably roll my eyes and think it kind of typical in the stories the author chose.

I enjoyed the short stories but found myself wondering how the story truly showed an Angel had been present while others it was very clear. It was good to read the parts about the fallen Angels and understand that phsychic's are not they way to go.
