The second dumbest thing I ever did was let my brother's best friend kiss me....
BRADY
Yeah, I shouldn’t have kissed Natalie Slater.
Not on the porch. Or at the beach. Or in the storage closet. Especially not the storage closet. But to be fair, she kissed me first. Six months later, I’m still thinking about it.
Trouble is, I’ve made promises that tie me to our small town, while Natalie can’t wait to escape. I’ve got no business pursuing her or my secret ambitions. My future’s set, and good people here are depending on me. Too bad my gut’s not listening to reason, and I'm being pulled toward different the career I’ve always wanted, and the woman whose smile I can’t forget....
NATALIE
Brady Graham and I used to be friends. For a while there, I was even the teensiest bit attracted to him. But Brady’s sister is marrying my brother, and my brother is Brady’s best friend. How awkward would family dinners be if things went south? We need to let our mutual attraction fizzle out.
Except…nothing seems to be fizzling. With all the time we’re spending together as Maid of Honor and Best Man, our attraction’s just burning hotter. Then the guy decides to show me his secret soft side. Hot and vulnerable? So. Not. Fair.
Because the only heat I need in my life is the sunshine in Los Angeles. I’ve made commitments on the west coast, and I can’t risk being sidetracked by Broody Brady.
I just need to put three thousand miles between me and his so-not-fairness....
Julie Christianson writes sweet romantic comedies—but only when she’s not reading them. Born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, she loves her hilarious family, her three crazy rescue dogs, and laughing at her own jokes.
Julie dreamed of being an author the first time she held a crayon, and after the library where she worked closed in 2020, she decided to try her hand at penning her own small-town romcoms.
She’s a former high school English teacher and lapsed marathon runner, the mother of two great kids, and the wife of one very funny man. Her goal is to write books that make you laugh out loud, fall in love, and live happily ever after.

Love, love, loved!!! I always enjoy Julie’s books and her writing style. 😁 They’re fun and have good storylines that are entertaining through the entire thing.
You know when you read a book and you can’t recall what even happened? That didn’t happen here. There was so much that went into this book that I felt completely satisfied by the end. I got a whole story, multiple scenes, side character’s stories, character arcs, and all the fun stuff like that.
It was nice to have Nat help Brady overcome his own challenge and vice versa. They were better together and it was easy to see their natural pull and chemistry as well. Love! 😍
Super happy I got the chance to read this early. It’s so worth the read! If you’re looking for a fun and cute RomCom, I’d highly recommend reading Julie’s—any of her books, really. They’re all super good!!!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Brady and Natalie’s story is so full of delicious tension, sweet stolen moments, and so much fun. I laughed, I teared up, and I cried happy tears at the end.
Things I Loved: -“I’m not awkward” -Flashbacks -LOL -Natalie lens -Crescent moon and sky elves -Legions or droves -“The force of Kasey’s throat-clearing actually moved Natalie’s body.” -“Little ambusher. Meddler. Menace.” -Pin the heart on Nicolas Cage -Popcorn -Big Mama and her poem -“Three times. Maybe four or five.” -The end and the epilogue
The character growth was so good, the way they became safe places for each other and supported each other was just so heart warming. I truly didn’t know exactly how it would all end up, but I couldn’t have come up with a more perfect ending.
I absolutely loved coming back to Abieville for Beau and Kasey’s wedding and I cannot wait for more from this small town and these hilarious families. If you haven’t read the prequel novella first, you certainly don’t have to, but it was so fun knowing the backstory for this wedding.
I had NEVER read a Julie Christianson book, and I totally regret it. This book was so cute and warmed my heart. Brady and Natalie are literally so sweet of a love story. I think it’s so cool to see two best friends be with each others sister. I also loved how close both sets of siblings were! It was so beautiful to read. I couldn’t put it down. I read it in one day. I 100% recommend giving not only this book a read, but any Julie Christianson book! They are so wholesome and breath of fresh air!!! Thank you Julie Christianson for the opportunity to read an advance copy of your beautiful book!
I have now started this review 3 different times, but each time has the hint of a spoiler, and I don't want that. This book is just so...~happy sigh~
If you haven't read a book by Julie Christianson yet, you really need to remedy that. Don't start with this one, though! Too many spoilers from the other books. I love how they all tie together. I had to keep stopping at the end of each chapter in this one to just soak it all in. But then again, I wanted to know how it ended! Exquisite torture.
Now. Julie. Two things: 1-what on EARTH is a chicken fight? Because there were no chickens there! 2-you just need to write some murder mysteries now. You know the name to write under. 😉
Natalie and Brady. I think they just might be my favorite book couple of Julie Christianson's. But I also may need to go back and read the others' stories again. You know-just to make sure.
~I received a complimentary copy of this book. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.~
One of the things I love about Julie Christianson’s books is they always make me smile. I just can’t help it. Whether it’s those swoony romantic kisses, or the laugh out loud awkward situations the characters find themselves in, she always delivers a memorable story. Since reading That Time I Kissed My Brother’s Best Friend, I couldn’t wait to read Natalie’s and Brady’s story. It’s the grumpy/sunshine, best friend’s little sister, second chance romance I’ve been waiting for!
Natalie is the sunshine to Brady’s seriousness. He’s not grumpy per se, but has a lot on his mind. After assisting the local vet for years, it’s assumed Brady will take over the clinic once he goes to vet school. But, he has a secret passion he’s been hiding if only he had the courage to truly follow his dream. He also has another secret and that’s his full flung crush on his best friend’s little sister Natalie. When she comes to town for her brother’s wedding, memories of their last kiss replay in his mind, but he doesn’t want to lose his heart when she leaves again.
After nursing school, Natalie took a job clear across the country in California. She wanted to leave the small town she grew up in for a fresh start and to be closer to her brother and his soon to be wife. Her only regret is leaving Brady. Though the sparks fly whenever they’re around each other, she doesn’t want to risk her heart knowing she’ll have to return to California. But, when she sees Brady again, it’s hard to get the handsome, sweet guy with a tender spot for animals out of her mind. Not to mention that amazing kiss they shared. Will she risk her heart to go after what she wants?
I loved Natalie & Brady! They were so cute together. I love the way they could share their deepest thoughts and dreams. There were so many swoony moments as they try to keep their growing feelings secret. I have to say the storage closet was my favorite scene. I also loved Big Mama and her rehearsal dinner poem. With such adorable characters and a sizzling romance, this book is definitely a favorite.
If you enjoy funny, sweet romcoms with memorable small town characters and lots of heart, highly recommend this book and the entire series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are completely my own and voluntarily given.
This book was a perfect Sunday read. It had all the cute moments you want in a romcom, and both of the main leads are endearing! Also, the side characters lol. Loved the grandma’s poem and the Apple Valley cameos:)
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Natalie & Brady’s points of view
Review:
I loved this so much! I wondered how Brady would be a grump in comparison to his personality in That Time I Kissed My Brother’s Best Friend and Julie did such a great job of explaining the change in Brady. I loved getting to know Natalie more in this story and how much she cared for the people around her. I loved getting to see more of this small town and the characters that live there. It was fun to see all the cousins together and their aunts/uncles/parents. Some of my favorite scenes/moments in this book included: the girls coming to ‘bump’ into the guys at the golf course, the night at the clinic, the end scenes, the rehearsal, bachelorette/bachelor party, and group thread texts.
Summary:
Natalie made the mistake of kissing Brady Graham six months ago and now she can’t get him out of her mind. Natalie knows that she and Brady could never be a couple. She wants to live in California while he plans to stay in their small home town. The distance would be too great, not to mention it’d be a little weird if both of the Slater children and both of the Graham children fell for each other, right? With their siblings’ wedding coming up, Natalie is determined to avoid Brady the best she can so that everyone can focus on the bride and groom. But that is difficult when she’s the maid of honor and he is the best man. Being thrown together in each and every wedding event is not conducive to avoiding the man.
Brady isn’t entirely happy with his life. He thought he’d love being a vet but is realizing that there is a forgotten side to that life beyond helping pets get better. Brady has learned that there is a different profession that he’d prefer to pursue, but with everyone around him expecting him to go to vet school and take over the small town’s clinic he feels stuck. At least he’s getting a break from work with his sister & best friend’s wedding happening in a few days. Only problem with that is Brady will have to see the groom’s sister, Natalie, a whole lot more this way. After the kiss they shared six months ago, Brady can’t get Natalie out of his mind. But she wants to have a life in California and he’s staying here. He’ll have to honor her wishes that they not be anything more and try to close himself off to her. But with other men showing interest in Natalie and his feelings fighting him every step of the way, Brady isn’t sure how much longer he’ll be able to hold back…
Julie Christianson and I took a chance on each other. I'd never read one of her books. Although to be fair, I own all of them. I'm just more of an audiobook consumer. As such, I just hadn't found time to sit and read any of them. I have really wanted to though.
Enter Julie taking a chance on me. I do not have a Bookstagram account and hadn't read her work. She still graciously allowed me to be in her ARC team for this book. If an author trusts me to receive an advanced copy of their book, I promise them I will read it and leave an honest review.
So here we are. I've read this book and am leaving my review...
This started out as what I'd call a sweet, typical romcom. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I know there are some characters here that have their stories in other books. I was still able to follow along well, although I definitely want to go through my collection and read about them now!
The second half of the book really was special. The storyline got a bit deeper and there were events I was not expecting. I don't like spoilers and won't reveal any myself. But many times in a romcom, I can see how a situation can be resolved to get to the happily ever after. I didn't know how that would happen here. And then I never expected how things actually did resolve. I was impressed.
I don't really think Brady can be classified as a grump. He may be serious but he is also willing to jump in and help out when he can. He is very sweet and caring for those close to him.
I am rounding my 4.5 star review up to a 5 on here. And I look forward to more Julie Christianson stories. Thanks again for the advanced copy.
Here’s another excerpt, just bc there were sooo many I loved!!
“ME: I think we should set up some ground rules before we see each other again. NAT: Don't worry. You aren't that irresistible. ME: I was the last time we were together….. NAT: Thanks for the reminder.”
Oh Mylanta!! If this wasn’t just the cutest book ever!!! My smile never left my face!! Julie never fails to write the sweetest stories with characters that feel like a part of your family! Brady and Natalies’s just might be my favorite yet!!
I loved the Best Friends’s Sister/ Brother’s Best Friend trope and watching them navigate all the feels from their secret kiss 6 months prior. Brady was the perfect grump with the biggest heart ever!!! Natalie was his perfect match with her caring nature and sweet personality! It was fun watching them banter and try to press down their growing attraction for each other, while keeping it secret from Kasey and Beau!
It was so fun to visit old friends from Apple Valley again and all their funny shenanigans!! I’m going to miss this wild, loving bunch!!
Things I Loved: 💗Friends to lovers 💗Natalie’s mom and the ceiling disaster! 😂 💗the “turquoise bikini” joke 💗Big Momma!!! (I mean, her “hips don’t lie!”) 😂😉 💗The vet office scene (every stinkin’ part!) 🥹 💗Brady and Nat + tug of war with Hawk!! 😂 💗Brady and romance novels! 💗All the kisses!! (Swoon!) 💗The ending airport scene!! 💗All the witty banter! 💗Pin the Heart on Nicholas Cage!! 💗All the group texts!
Thank you to the author for allowing me to be on your ARC team! I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
This is one of those books that becomes a comfort read. It's got a lovely title and a heartwarming dedication. Natalie's gown on the cover is stunning.
The blurb from Natalie's POV is more catchy; it should've been kept before Brady's. I prefer closed-door romances, so I enjoyed this book. I love the "A Note From Julie" section. I'm always happy when readers speak to their readers in particular, like the ARC readers.
This book has the best first line of all the books I've read this year. I could imagine myself right there on the plane with Natalie and feel her fear. Such romantic comedies are refreshing. I loved her thoughts on the compelling choice of a view between the clouds and the lavatory. The first-person POV is enjoyable.
A few chapters in, you'll realise the significance of the title is very different from what you'd have thought initially. Theirs is a second-chance romance that started off when she once kissed Brady, but now he's grumpy and a groomsman when they meet again. The jealousy moments with him and Hawke are amazeballs. His lack of a close relationship with his sister and his parents is a red flag.
The last flight scene is so sweet! This is a genre romance. The subplots are unique.
I received an e-ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Natalie Slater is back in her hometown after agreeing to be her friend’s maid of honor. As much as she would like to avoid Brady Graham, that proves difficult since he’s the best man. Soon they’ll be closer than ever as her brother is marrying his sister. In an attempt to get her to move back home, Natalie’s mother is actively trying to set her up with every single man in town. Through all the wedding planning, Natalie finds out that she is not the only one beginning to question life plans.
That Time I Kissed the Groomsman Grump is the second book in the Time of Your Life series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I would suggest reading book one (That Time I Kissed My Brother’s Best Friend) first. Some familiar characters from the Apple Valley Love Stories series also make an appearance. This is a closed-door romance with some mild innuendo but nothing overtly spicy.
Is Brady really a grump? I don’t think he is. The only time he seems to be a little peeved is when another man is showing interest in Natalie. I would consider this more of a brother’s best friend romcom than a grumpy/sunshine situation. This pair is drawn together like magnets. As much as they try to avoid their feelings, they both jump at the chance to help one another.
I was really looking forward to Brady and Natalie’s story after first meeting them in book one of the series and Julie Christianson once again gives readers the perfect sweet little romcom. I adore her Apple Valley series and this new series is shaping up to be just as delightful. I look forward to reading whatever she has next for her readers.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I knew I was going to love this book before I even started it. Natalie and Brady’s story was super sweet and utterly romantic! It delivered everything I wanted and will be going on my favorites shelf to read again and again!
I honestly couldn’t get enough of Natalie and Brady. They are so relatable. I fell in love with them both right from the beginning. Natalie’s brother and Brady’s sister are getting married and these two are trying hard to fight their attraction for one another but it isn’t really working well. This is a slow burn and filled with amazing chemistry and swoony kisses! Definitely some great kisses! I adored their romance. They were perfect for each other.
This book had a lot of depth and melted my heart in so many places. One of my favorite things was how much Brady and Natalie cared for and supported each other right from the beginning. I love how with Natalies support Brady wasn’t afraid to go after his dreams and how Natalie jumped in to help Brady at the vet clinic when Dr. Swanson had to go to the hospital with his wife. The dual POV was amazing. It was great getting to be in both Natalie and Brady’s heads to know what they were thinking and feeling for each other.
If you are a lover of romance and rom-coms this is a must read so do yourself a favor and grab a copy!
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Julie does it again!! Just when I think I’ve read her BEST book yet, she releases another one that is even better. Brady and Natalie are the most fun Grumpy-Sunshine couple. Their banter is top notch and their sparks fly big throughout this delightful story. Both of them have such love and loyalty to their families, even at their own detriment at times, that it forges a deeper connection between them. I loved that they had real and honest conversations and didn’t leave important things unsaid. Even if it hurt or caused doubt, they talked things out and it was so good to see. And their kisses were #swoonygoals. To all this amazingness we got to add in some of my favorite Apple Valley Characters and the hilarious Slater/Graham clans that kept me laughing so much while I read. Definitely get this (and all the rest of them) book on your TBR. They are just the most fun and swoony stories that everyone needs in their lives.
I received a Complimentary ARC of this story from the author via Bookfunnel. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own. I also purchased my own copy.
To be honest, this book should have been titled 'That Time I Kissed My Productivity Goodbye'... because from the moment I started, I did not want to put this one down for a moment!
That Time I Kissed the Groomsman Grump is the second book in the Time of Your Life series. It could definitely be read as a standalone with no problem, but many of the characters from the previous book in this series AND the Apple Valley series make appearances in this one so it might be a good idea to read them first. Also, they're all just great reads anyway!
We first met Natalie and Brady in the previous book, so I was excited for them to get their own story... and I must say, as much as I enjoyed That Time I Kissed My Brother's Best Friend, I adored this one even more! I love a good use of the grumpy/sunshine trope, and while I'd say Brady was only mildly a grump, I loved it anyway! The chemistry between these two was so enjoyable, and the laughs... so, so good. I found myself smiling and laughing throughout... especially during the rehearsal scene. Oh. My. Goodness. It was certainly the icing on the cake... but you'll have to read it to discover the fun for yourself!
Overall, an absolutely fantastic read with chemistry-filled kisses, but nothing beyond that. If you enjoy a good romantic comedy, don't miss this one!
**I received an ARC for consideration. All opinions are my own.
This book was a slow burn, second change romance between the grooms sister and brides brother… yes you guessed it, the siblings one the ones getting married are trying to fight the attraction they have for each other. (They aren’t doing a good job of it). When it’s finally revealed that they love each other… we’ll, I won’t take a big Mama’s thunder but it’s a fabulous scene!
If you enjoy: 🟢wedding prep books 🟢slow burn 🔥 🟢closet scenes (clean) 🟢love/hate relationships 🟢dress fittings 🟢late nights 🟢sexy vet techs 🟢crazy families
I loved this book so much, it was so sweet. I loved seeing Brady’s and Nat’s relationship grow and how much both of them knew each other, how they were both careful not to hurt the other and others around them despite their feelings. The book was a slow burn, and even though I have a love/hate relationship with slow burns, I loved every moment of it, specially because there were some great side characters who love to meddle and lots of forced proximity situations. I don’t know what else to say without giving spoilers, so I’m gonna say this again: I loved the book and the ending was soooo perfect and swoon-worthy.
Read this if you like: Dual POV Closed doors Small town RomCom Grumpy/Sunshine Off-limits love Brother’s best friend
I received an e-ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I always know I'm going to love Julie Christianson's stories, even if the setting isn't exactly my cup of tea. I've never really enjoyed a wedding party as a story setting before (the exception being Karen Thornell's Pretending at Love) but it totally worked for this story! I loved the angst between Natalie and Brady and was invested in their HEA.
This just proves, once again, that you can't go wrong with one of Julie's books.
This was definitely a slow burn, tension-filled sweet romance. It's interesting how it is inserted right in the middle of the timeline of her other series.
Julie kindly provided me with an ARC to read and I did so, quite happily! This is the second book in the series and is set in the same universe as her Happy Valley series and even features some of the characters we met previously!
In this book, we meet Natalie and Brady who have grown up together in a small town in NY state. Natalie is keen to get away from their town while Brady wants to stay put. They are thrown together for the week as Natalie’s brother is marrying her bestie, who is Brady’s sister.
They are trying to fight their attraction to one another which was only heightened after a kiss months prior, but they keep being thrown together. Can they find a way to be together, and each get what they want?
I love really enjoy Julie’s books and this one was no exception. She writes with honesty, humour, and sincerity, creating characters that are compelling and relatable. I loved the two sets of parents in this one and their ridiculousness on the golf course and elsewhere.
I actually haven’t read the first in the series so I’ll be doing that soon and I look forward to forthcoming books!!
I adored this romance! Thank you so much @juliechristiansonauthor for letting me read and squeal about this lovely story!
Here’s what I loved about this book: • brother’s best friend • positive sibling relationships • charming small town setting • overcoming fears • chemistry and kissing scenes that were 🔥
I am so in love with this story. Brady and Nat had such a deep connection and they communicated with each other beautifully. They listened and respected one another and I adored every second.
I am in. Love. With. This. Book. As I read this book, I could practically picture it in my head playing as a movie. Someone should make movie adaptations of all the books she's written. They are the perfect rom-com ever. This book had the perfect amount of romance, comedy, angst and tension. At times, I laughed so hard and other times I could practically FEEL the tension between Natalie and Brady. Speaking of Brady, he's officially my new book boyfriend. He's so sweet and charming but he's also sarcastic and witty. A cinnamon-roll hero. I love it. And him. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of romance between Brady and Natalie. It was more what's mentioned in her other books. Anyway, I love this book to pieces and am so glad I got to read the ARC of this book the author personally sent me.
Spice rating: G, kissing only Language rating: G, none
NEW FAVORITE. I love Natalie and Brady. Their maturity as individuals and in their relationship and how they treat each other was awesome. The development of the relationship felt genuine and authentic. I recommend this to everyone!
Julie Christianson continues her Abieville Love Stories series with That Time I Kissed the Groomsman Grump, the story of Kasey's brother Brady and Beau's sister Natalie. In That Time I Kissed My Brother's Best Friend (book 1), Kasey overcomes her distrust of Beau, stemming from a prank he and Brady pulled after high school graduation. She's also convinced Beau's sister Natalie hates her because she threatened to lace her brownies with Ex-Lax years ago. When Kasey and Beau reveal their relationship, to Kasey's shock, Brady and Natalie laugh at them: "Finally! We've been waiting for you to admit you're in love." Then Kasey wanders into the kitchen... and finds Brady and Natalie kissing! So the Groomsman Grump--Brady--begins this book roped into picking up Natalie from the Albany airport, where she landed after a terrifying flight from LAX. Nat is Kasey's maid of honor, and Brady is Beau's best man, so being thrown together during the wedding week is expected, if not welcome. Both are trying to forget The Kiss in the Kitchen, even though they both found it unforgettable! But first they need to get through the bachelor and bachelorette parties and rehearsal. The Graham (Brady) and Slater (Natalie) families are out in full force and rare form, and each mother wants to set up her single child with an old flame, never mind how they feel (or don't feel) now. Fortunately, the old flames start their own fire, so Brady and Nat escape the maternal matchmakers! Because of leaks in the hotel where the bridesmaids and groomsmen will get ready, the two parties must combine at the club in the hotel. Once there, Brady focuses on taking care of pregnant bridesmaid Amber, whose husband stayed at home with the toddler twins, as Beau requested without considering his best man might want to focus on a different bridesmaid! Brady isn't just broody because he's frustrated by Beau's demands on his time. He's also discovered he doesn't want to be a vet--he wants to be an author! But everyone expects him to take over Doc Swanson's clinic when the vet retires, and he doesn't want to let them down. His innate kindness has morphed into fear of failure, and he feels trapped in Abieville. Likewise, Nat feels compelled to return to LA and her new nursing job; her own innate kindness has morphed into fear of letting down the people who've made her feel welcome in that city. She's so afraid to fly, she thinks nothing can come of them long-distance, and Brady agrees. Things get more complicated when his wealthy cousin proposes paying for Brady's full vet school tuition. How can he refuse Mac's offer? Doc Swanson texts Brady that he needs to take his wife to the hospital, but the clinic is boarding 2 dogs and keeping an injured chihuahua for observation. Can Brady step in? Of course! Nat volunteers to go with him. That night, after Nat reschedules all appointments, Brady and Natalie share childhood memories and grow closer. Nat falls asleep, and after another check on injured Lulu, Brady tucks her into his spare sweatshirt and sleeps next to her on the waiting room sofa. Before he does that, though, he opens a notebook in an empty exam room and writes a few pages. He's not abandoning his dream, but he isn't telling anyone about it yet--not even Nat. The next day is Beach Photo Shoot at Abie Lake, and while Beau gets so sunburned Kasey says he'll ruin the photos, the wedding photographer gets very handsy with Natalie. Now Brady has a real reason to be grumpy! At the rehearsal, Brady's mom gives the bridal party marching orders...literally! "Step one, step two and three, waltz!" Big Mama, the 90-year-old petite grandma, quotes song lyrics and recites limericks instead of the poem she wrote because "it's not the real wedding", just as Nat's niece Daisy opted to toss popcorn from her basket rather than rose petals. The morning of the wedding, Beau once again calls on his best man for a favor. He wants Kasey to see the vows she doesn't believe he wrote. Brady knocks on the hotel suite's door, sees Natalie in the dress she traded with Amber, and almost forgets to give Kasey the vows. Reading them, Kasey suddenly blanks out on her own vows! Nat, can you do your bride a favor? Natalie thinks the vows fell out of her beach bag at the clinic, so she races there, only to find 3 barking dogs and the smell of smoke. Grabbing the vows and Lulu, she puts them safely in her car, then returns to rescue the other dogs. She wants to return again, but the firefighters won't let her. Brady, however, blows past the firemen to Natalie! She's safe, the dogs are all OK, and they make plans. The night Brady announces he's not going to vet school, Doc Swanson says he and his wife will retire. Nat has found Amber to take her room in LA. And there's another wedding on the horizon: Brady and Nat! They didn't let people down; taking risks can improve your life--as I can attest. I identify strongly with Brady and Nat. Highly recommended!
Such a cute story! Both Brady and Natalie know that a relationship is not a good idea. Brady is tied to their small town and the people in it. He can’t pursue her or his secret ambitions. Yet he feels pulled towards his dreams of the career he has always wanted and the woman who he can’t forget about. Natalie is ready to leave and has started making plans for a life in Los Angeles. Besides with Brady’s sister marrying Natalie’s brother and her brother being Brady’s best friend, they don’t need to add any awkwardness. They just need some time to let things settle…right? It was so exciting to read this after being able to read That Time I Kissed my Brother’s Best Friend! You got to see the beginning hints of Brady and Natalie there. Natalie was so sweet. She felt a bit out of place in their small town where everyone had known everyone since birth. But she was so willing to help and to support, especially with Kasey’s wedding. I admired how she sought to be upbeat and encouraging, especially with Brady. She had to think through why she wanted what she had been pursuing. Brady was so sweet. He was a bit gruff, but definitely showed his tender side with Natalie. He felt like his commitments were weighing on him. He was so responsible and considerate. It was fun to watch the antics of the wedding preparations and planning. Both Brady and Natalie had good relationships with their siblings and it was sweet to see how they tried to support them. I also loved how Brady and Natalie supported one another. They were both trying to look out for the other. As always, the side characters were hilarious! I love how Ms. Christianson’s books make you so invested in the whole cast of characters. I loved the small town vibes and the super-involved family! I enjoyed seeing old characters coming back into the story too! This is a closed-door romance that is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
This is, without a shadow of a doubt, my favorite book from Julie...and I love the Apple Valley Love Stories, so imagine what a champ of an author she is!
Just do yourself a favor & enjoy this awesome book! No worries, every question you have at the beginning will be answered as it moves forward.
I love their meetings and just how they interact w/each other. Both of them were so loyal & kind. They were made for each other 😍.
Brady was a grumpy sweetheart. I loved how serious he was, but also loyal, kind & gentlemanly. He was so protective! But he also gave her the space she needed. I love that even halfway through the story, you could still see Brady's grumpiness.
That chemistry was perfect! Off the charts! Their first kiss was something else 🔥 Then you have that almost kiss?? It killed me🔥 The tension throughout the story was delightful.
🌙 "This is all for Natalie. I am all for her. Surrendering to this woman is a gift." ✨
That storage room scene? My favorite🔥. The communication & openness between these two was amazing! I loved how healthy & mature it was.
I'm sorry? Chapter 37 is a masterpiece. I mean, this whole book is a masterpiece! I can't with this story😭 it's just so beautiful.
🌙 "He locks eyes with me. “You and I both know you’re strong enough to do this on your own, but you don’t have to. Not this time. Not anymore. Not if you don’t want to.”“Brady,” I breathe out." ✨
The final chapters and the epilogue were so sweet😭😍. I really love this story. I loved seeing Kasey & Beau again! Big Mama was the MVP. This book has such amazing second characters. I loved seeing almost everyone from Apple Valley🍎.
I just couldn't with some relatives' meddling. They didn't let these two figure their lives out🙄... But at the same time I loved the support & love in the community. Mixed feelings for sure😅
I can't get enough of these characters. Can I have more extra chapters about Natalie & Brady, please?💚. I can't wait for book 3!
🌙 * I was kindly gifted an ARC from the author. This doesn't influence in any form my review/opinion of the book*
"Because apparently, that's what I do. Natalie Slater starts talking about things I don't want to discuss, and I put my mouth on hers to make it stop."
Oh my stars! Could this book be any more adorable? I loved every single thing about The Time I Kissed the Groomsman Grump except for the fact that it ended. This stars-in-your-eyes romance is everything I love about the genre!
Brady and Natalie have a complicated relationship.
Besides the fact that his sister and her brother are getting married and they are both in the wedding party, the last time they saw each other, they shared some unforgettable kisses.
But what's the use of exploring a relationship if they live thousands of miles apart?
Things I LOVED (fair warning - it's a long list!!):
Brother's Best Friend Best Man/Maid of Honor Forced Proximity Dual POV Grumpy/Sunshine "One couch" and the entire vet clinic scene Second-chance romance vibes Brady's choice of reading material The "third" first kiss pre-flight texting Characters with heart and depth "Three times. Maybe four or five." The flirty banter No third act breakup Laugh-out-loud moments with the families Apple Valley cameos "Sky elves" Big Mama's poem "I only thought about you. Just you."
I cannot describe how much I adored the romance - those glances across the room and accidental touches between Natalie and Brady could have started a fire with all the sparks between them. And don't get me started when they finally kiss again!!
Add in the wonderful emotional depth and connection and you have a story that melted my heart! This one definitely earned a spot on my favorites shelf (right next to Tess and Spencer!) - you have GOT to read this book, my friends!!!
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
That Time I Kissed the Groomsman Grump was the sweetest!! I've been wanting Natalie and Brady's story ever since the end of Kasey and Beau's book (and especially after all the teasers the author's been sharing on social media) but it was worth the wait!! These two! I definitely laughed, squealed, and swooned my way through this book. Julie Christianson just keeps getting better and better with each new book. 🤗
My heart definitely went to both Natalie and Brady. Either their want to be near family, to have (deep) roots or the guts to come clean about their desires and follow their dreams make them relatable, and I couldn't wait to see how it all was going to play out. As for the community, it's always a treat to go back to Abieville and get to hang out with the Grahams (and the Slaters), especially if it's wedding week. 😉💗 It was definitely fun, and it was good to see past characters like Kasey and Beau, of course, but also Tess, Mac, and Daisy, as well as get to know a bit more of Brady's cousins (Olivia and Darby, Lettie and Nella). Yes, there were a couple of times I had to stop and remind myself who was who (between Beau and Brady) and related to whom (the Grahams are a whole bunch), but it didn't take away from the story. Now I'm just really excited and curious to see whose book we're getting next. :)
Overall, a great and beautiful addition to this series, perfect for anyone looking for a great, sweet rom-com where you'll laugh as well as swoon all the way to the perfect HEA. Recommended for any lovers of the "grumpy/sunshine," "veterinarian hero with a secret," "dog lover heroine," "maid of honor/best man", and "brother's best friend" tropes, to name a few. Can't wait for the next one! ~ 5 stars!
