As a kid I was an avid reader of mythology: Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Norse, you name it. Those stories resonate with me today. Of course they do ... the gods and goddesses are immortal. So it made perfect sense to find them rocking the present-day LA club scene as they do in Alesha Escobar's "Black Dagger Gods." Other entries in the collection offered other original new immortals with dramatic lives. I chuckled at the observation in the first paragraph of Ezekiel David's "Over 9,000 Names" and the strange powers of the characters in Michelle Mogil's "The God People." All in all I found the tales in this collection to be unusual, entertaining and fresh.
