Let's just keep this simple, okay? I'll be reviewing each of the characters' backstory individually.

Aisling:
This backstory wasn't really her backstory. Well, partially it's hers because it concerns her but it's more of a backstory about her dad and how he did not want Aisling to play because you know... she might die and all that. It's sad to see how far a parent would go just to save their child.

Shari:
I've just noticed that most of them had relationships before they became the player. Apparently, Shari took it to the next level. As we know in Endgame: The Calling, she has a husband and a child. Here, we see how it started. It's nice to see what she was like before and how having a family changed her.

Maccabee:
I hate him. And also Baitsakhan, but we'll get to him in a while. I hate Maccabee. But after reading this, my interest in him surged. He's a lady-boy. A flirt. A liar. Advantages of a player. This story is basically Maccabee flirting (and eventually having sex) with the mother of his roommate just to get important data from her. That's all.

Baitsakhan:
Oh how I wanted him to die in Endgame. He is such an asshole. But he's young. So, so, so young. The youngest in all of them. Just thirteen years old. Wow, right? He's a bloodthirsty, merciless, cold-hearted killer at such a young age. I hate how he grew up. I hate everything about him. I hope he doesn't win. I hope he dies.

Ugh. The final story, which I think of as "Jeffrey Dahmer, Jr.," was horrifying enough that I'm not sure I'll read the actual saga (this is one of three prequels). I'm sure he'll play a big role and I don't think I have the stomach for it.

Definitely better than the first novella! Can’t say it’s the writing though...I think it’s the characters in this one that shed light on their Endgame choices. Must read.

It tells the stories of the most interesting Players for me.
- Baitsakhan (5/5). The scariest Player for me. And I even got more scared of him because of his story.
- Maccabee (5/5). The most unique Player for me, as he uses his charm as a weapon. His story presented an unseen side of him, which adds more color to his character.
- Shari (5/5). Another unique Player with a nice love story.
- Aisling (4/5). Not her story, actually, but more of the story of her father. I think her father's revelation will become significant in the next books.

Endgame: training diaries volume 2 revolves around 4 players: Baitsakhan, Maccabee, Aisling, and Shari. I think the part that stuck with me most was the beginning of Aisling's story. Her father was a player and when he found out she would be player he took her as a baby and tried to escape but was caught. That part of the story was very thrilling and descriptive. I like the detail and adjectives used in this book as aspects of it are described well which is key with a book that has excitement and action in it like this one.

Like Origin, Descendant tells the background stories of several more players: Aisling, Shari, Maccabee, and Baitsakhan. I really enjoy learning about the qualities of each character. Some of them are extremely disturbed and manipulative, while others are very kind and noble. I'm looking forward to reading the next novel Sky Key.

Another solid set of prequel stories. The first one dragged, but the remaining three were all pretty engaging. Some of the stories feel a bit repetitive and run over similar notes as the first novella, i.e. with the young boy-girl love story and dissension against parents, but the author(s) skirts enough of it to remain as fresh as possible.

I couldn't read through all of Baitsakhans story. Needless to say I felt this was a perfect look into the upbringing of an inherently chaotic evil child. I loved the supplemental character details of these prequels. They did a great job building upon characters!

I really liked Endgame and I find interesting to learn more about the Players.

Shari's background is the most interesting for me and Baitsakhan is really the most creepy of the players.

Not as nice as the previous one... maybe I don't really like most of these characters, maybe their stories did seem forced... probably both.
