A lovely warm book that explains the benefits of art in life. The book explains that there are many benefits including health benefits, mental health benefits, well-being, flourishing and the spiritual outlets of art. I disagreed with the art mindset to challenge myself because apparently I am average artistically but a lot of that is due to the time commitments to make my paintings. But still that is a rather small criticism.

The research around art and culture is fascinating. A regular trip to the theatre or cultural activity reduced the risk of dementia by 30 per cent. Even small creativity has a positive impact on health and wellbeing. It is a pity that politicians don't read books like this. With all the push away from the arts by sections of the political establishment, it feels that it is really important to push for the arts.

An important book that puts a lot of information in how the arts are a benefit to humanity and how it taps into being human.

Such a good book to scientifically prove the arts literally require our brains, heal our mind and bodies, release calming chemicals, and being people together. There’s so much more to this! It’s going to take me awhile to sift through my thoughts and amazing quotes!

I DNF, not because I didn't like it, but because I was completely convinced just 1/3 of the way in! It's a no-brainer.
