Lights! Camera! Murder? Mitzy Moon let herself get too comfortable. After happily putting down roots in Pin Cherry Harbor, this psychic sleuth thought she’d be safe. If only she’d paid closer attention to the whisperings of her not-as-dearly-departed-as-everyone-thinks grandmother…
Without warning, Mitzy and her fiendish feline find themselves the stars in a television series about their life! Grams sold the rights, and the production has descended on the bookshop. The inept crew disturbs the wrong crypt, and now a vengeful spirit could be on the loose.
Can Mitzy flip the script on this murderer, or will this be her final scene?
Scripts and Empty Crypts is the seventh book in the hilarious paranormal cozy mystery series, Harper and Moon Investigations, a spinoff from the popular Mitzy Moon Mysteries. USA Today Bestselling author Trixie Silvertale grew up reading an endless supply of Lilian Jackson Braun, Hardy Boys, and Nancy Drew novels. She loves the amateur sleuths in cozy mysteries and and obsesses about all things paranormal. Those two passions unite in her Mitzy Moon Mysteries, and she's thrilled to write them and share them with you.
Scripts and Empty Crypts is the 7th in the Harper and Moon Investigations series, which is a spin-off of the Mitzy Moon series. Both are humorous, paranormal cozy mystery series with likable main characters and amusing situations.
This is one of my favorites in the new series. Mitzy Moon's "Ghost-Ma" (the spirit of her deceased grandmother who lives in the bookstore) sold the rights to the book she wrote about Mitzy's life to a television producer and now a filming crew has come to Pin Cherry Harbor and Mitzy's bookshop. While filming, the crew disturbs the crypt of a dangerous spirit, putting Mitzy in danger. A suspicious death complicates things even more for Mitzy and her husband Erick Harper.
This book is action-packed with a couple different subplots making it a fast-paced read. I don't want to spoil any of the surprises, but I will say that circumstances have Erick working directly with Ghost-Ma and with Pyewacket, the caracal cat. I love that there are a few chapters told from Erick's point-of-view as well as another unexpected character.
Also in this book, Mitzy has hired an assistant, Bristol. I wasn't sure about her at first, but I soon warmed to her enthusiasm and intelligence. Everything comes together perfectly by the end of the book in a very satisfying way. I am already looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an advance copy of this ebook from the author for review consideration, but my review is voluntary and unbiased. Overall rating - 4.5 stars rounded up to 5
My heart is still racing! Spine tingling suspense-non stop! Magic is passed onto us, the readers who know Mitzy Moon books! Trixie Silvertale has given us the best book yet! Erick actually says a curse word, Pyewacket actually talks to us. Their new hire Bristol is totally amazing and totally fits in. All of this is happening while the book store is in an upheaval of movie action. Ghost-ma has signed a contract for her memoirs to be made into a TV series named Tansy Truth Super Sleuth. Filming goes sideways when filming a part that takes place in a cemetery. They open the mausoleum with intent of opening the stone slab set up only to find the body missing! You are going to have to read this book, multilevel story lines all tie in together in a way only Ms. Silvertale can do.
Mitzy is shocked to learn Ghostma’s book is being turned into a movie TODAY as a film crew arrive! This leads to murder! They have a new side kick! Sheriff Paulson is the new Sheriff in town and is a disaster! We get to visit the Indian Island again which is always a delight. Some old and almost characters come back. I honesty have to say it took me a minute to figure out the murderer! This book and series was just as wonderful as it always is! It’s a nice delight after reading some heavy thrillers! I highly recommend this book and this author!
I received an ARC copy from the author and even though I wasn’t required to post a review, I wanted to offer my honest, voluntary impression after reading this book.
Trixie’s books are always a joy to read! Her characters are ones you’d like to have as your own friends except the baddies of course!
In this one Ghost Grams submits Mitzy’s life story and a production company decides to make it a movie. However, things don’t go to script and there are glaring problems with the cast and other issues. Then a crypt is opened and there is no body inside it and the head electrician is electrocuted though not fatally. However later the wardrobe designer is found murdered and the producer disappears. But that is only half the story as Mitzy and Erick are accused of the murders by none other than the inept Paulsen who is running for re-election against the former sheriff Erick Harper himself!
Now Erick and Mitzy need to clear their names and win the upcoming election while in a jail cell! Luckily they have their friends to help them out including a new addition to the Moon and Harper Investigation team that comes through with flying colors!
This is a great story that those who have loved the previous series and this current one will really like! You even get a little insight into Pyewacket who as we all know has secrets of his own and uses some of them to bring Mitzy back after her encounter with her old nemesis!
I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend you get and read this book! In fact, I recommend you read this entire series and the series prior to this one so you can understand Mitzy and Erick and how they met and the dynamic between them! Then add in Ghost Grams, Pyewacket and Silas and the rest and you have a cast of characters you are going to love every time you pick up a story dealing with them!
Read this story today and then read the other books if you haven’t already! You’ll be glad you did!
Ghostma has sold the movie rights to Mitzy’s story and they intend to film the show using the actual bookstore. The problem being that Ghostma signed the contracts in Mitzy’s name without telling her about it, and now they have no choice but to allow the movie crew to film inside of the building, despite there being sections of the bookstore that the general public aren’t allowed to know about. In the midst of this, the election is nearing that will either return Erick Harper to the position of Sheriff or allow Paulson to continue on, doing things her way while resenting any help offered from Harper-Moon investigations. And to top things off, you guessed it, there is a murder involving the movie crew.
I received and read a review copy of this novel. And as you might expect, I enjoyed it, just as I have the previous ones in this series. There are quite a few twists and turns involved in this cozy mystery that will keep you guessing all the way until the end. This book has the vibrant characters that we have come to love from the Mitzy Moon Cozy Mysteries and the Harper-Moon series. It is every bit as entertaining as the previous books, and while it is a quick read, it is a very fun one as well. I know that I enjoyed it a great deal.
This book ends with a twist that can be pretty easily anticipated if you're a regular reader of any of the Mitzy Moon and Erick Harper books, but that will affect this series as it goes forward, And I for one, can’t wait to see what will come next. (I really don’t want to spoil the ending for you, so if you want to know what I’m referring to, you’ll just have to read the book yourself.)
I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading Cozy Mysteries, Paranormal Cozy Mysteries, or who has enjoyed any of the other books involving Mitzy Moon, Erick Harper, and Ghostma. You won’t be disappointed.
I have enjoyed the character of Mitzy Moon from the beginning. The series has been a consistent delight. In this book, Isadora a.k.a. Ghostma, has sold the movie rights of her book about Mitzy. Tansy Truth Super Sleuth Mysteries! Things are about to get crazy. Twiggy doesn't want the movie crew in the bookstore and may quit. Mitzy is surprised to see the Tansy character wears stilettos to solve crime. This I find so hilarious! Erick is running for sheriff and handling security for the filming. Bristol, a character we met in a prior book, has joined Harper and Moon Investigations. As you can tell, a lot is going on. Things go from the frying pan into the fire when the crew arrives and wants to film in a certain crypt. I enjoyed the addition of Bristol. She is an interesting character and I can't wait to see her development in future books. My favorite surprise involved a bigger role for a certain special cat. I don't even have words for how fun this development is! I highly recommend this entire series. You can easily pick it up with Harper & Moon Investigations. The author does well with catching you up so you can even just read this book. For best enjoyment I recommend starting with Mitzy Moon and going in order if you are completely new to Mitzy Moon. Choose what works for you. For a Hollywood experience in almost Canada, Scripts and Empty Crypts is a book you don't want to miss!
Mitzy Moon has allowed herself to get comfortable in Pin Cherry Harbor. She's put down roots and feels safe. So she's shocked when trouble comes and even more surprised when she discovers the source of that trouble. A film crew has taken over the bookstore because Grams sold the rights to her book. Mitzy and Pyewacket suddenly find themselves stars of a television series. For one episode, the crew opens a crypt and they may just have awakened a vengeful spirit. In addition, a crew member is murdered. Can Harper and Moon find the killer or will this be Mitzy's final scene?
I found Trixie Silvertale during her 'Mitzy Moon' series and I'm so happy I did. I really enjoyed those books. And I have been a fan of the 'Harper and Moon' series from the first book. This series is a spinoff of the 'Mitzy Moon' series and it's been absolutely fabulous! Trixie's a wonderful author and storyteller bringing you into her world as you escape for a while. This book was a quick, fun read that was well-written with well-developed and likable characters. The intriguing mystery will keep you on your toes with all the twists and turns. I was hooked on this captivating story from the beginning. I simply didn't want to put it down. I loved this book and sincerely hope there's more to come. Escaping to Pin Cherry Harbor is always great. I highly recommend both book and series.
What absolute fun, fast-paced and unputdownable this 7th book in the series is! We are hooked from the beginning and never let go with lots of twists and turns and subplots to keep you totally engaged. This could be my favorite book in the series so far and I've loved them all. Ghostma, Mitzy's grandma kept track of all of Mitzy's adventures in a script form and sold the rights to a production company who just happen to show up at the bookstore ready to film Mizty and Pye, her caracal familiar. At the same time, Erik is running for sheriff and Mitzy needs to hire help. She hires Bristol. When the film crew opens the crypt of Rory Bombay and he is missing. He despised Mitzy, this can't be good. Add to that and there is murders in the production crew. Silas and Mitzy try to contact Rory and she ends up in a coma. Erik with Bristol, Ghostma and Pye's help has to find a murderer. Add to all this and we have Pye saving Mitzy. With so many threads handing out there, can the crew put it all together and solve murders, run the bookshop, and win an election? Can it all tie together in one neat little package? With a lot of humor along the way, we are taken on the largest roller coaster ride right to the fantastic ending. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series. I can't wait for more. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Was it possible for this series to get any better? You betcha!
I've been reading this series since book 1, and this is the best story, by far. Why? The characters have now blossomed into the best they can be, in my opinion. Mitzy comes across as a confident woman now, and we can see how she's matured since the start, as Bristol is now on the scene. A recruit to the team who has to find her feet, and find them she will. I'm sure she will be a great asset, and in a way, she reminds me of the new girl that Miss Moon was some time ago.
Ghostma has finally signed a contract, well forged, if you will, and a filming crew descends on Pin Cherry to begin filming a new series based on Mitzy and Erick and the haunted bookshop. What could go wrong? Plenty.
Mitzy found herself in a place she really shouldn't have been, and a lot more is uncovered about Pyewacket. Our favourite cat places himself in danger as Silas finds himself out of his depth. On top of all this, Erick is running for Sheriff, and Paulsen really does a number on him. More layers have been unpeeled in this book, and I won't spoil any of them. It's all here: Murder, sorrow, laughs, danger, great one-liners, and a brilliant mystery.
Another very exciting, full of twists and turns whodunnit investigation. This time around Grams has sold her script to a film studio and these come down to start filming in the bookshop to the chagrin of Mitzy. Soon things take a turn for the dangerous as the head electrician nearly gets killed, then a couple more bodies are found, as the crypt of Rory Bombay is opened. Now Bombay was a sorcerer and Mitzy hated his guts, and dreads the return of him in her life even after his death. However though he is their main suspect in the killings they just might be on the wrong track. Mitzy nearly loses her life when she interacts with Rory, however Pyewacket comes to her rescue. I love the new addition to the team, Bristol the Gen Z teenager is quirky but capable and takes everything in her stride, even when facing a couple of murdered bodies. In this book whilst Mitzy and Erick are held in jail by Paulsen, she saves the day. Incidentally this happens on election day when Erick is once again running against Paulsen for the post of sheriff of Pin Cherry Harbor. I love that all the team stand by our investigating couple all the way and I look forward to reading more investigations with Bristol on board, she is definitely a great addition.
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
I have enjoyed all of the Mitzy Moon and Harper and Moon Investigations books, so I was happy to read this one, of course. I like how the story of Mitzy and Erick has evolved over the years from strangers to a happily married couple. Unfortunately, they're not quite as happy in this book because Mitzy is trapped in another dimension.
There are two separate mysteries in this book. The first, of course, is how to help Mitzy and to figure out what Rory Bombay has to do with it. And I thought I'd never have to hear that name again! Erick also investigates a murder of a costumer. I forgot to mention that a movie based on Mitzy's book (aka ghost grandma) is being shot at the bookstore. So much going on in this quick read!
I feel like the characters in this series are old friends. Each book builds on the previous ones and adds to the depth of the series. Most often, I find that the most recent book is my favorite, which is how I felt about this one. I like that Erick is going to be sheriff again, and I'm hoping that their new employee, Bristol, will hang around. She's a hoot!
If you’ve been following Mitzy, Erick, Silas, and Pyewacket, you’re in for another treat. This one pulls you in right from the start with all the things I love about Trixie Silvertale’s stories: quirky humor, twisty mysteries, and characters you feel like you actually know.
There’s a new face on the Harper and Moon team, and while I’m not sure about her yet (does she run on straight caffeine?), she’s got great chemistry with Mitzy and I think she’ll grow on me. Erick gets a huge surprise that had me grinning, and Sheriff Paulsen… let’s just say I’m really hoping she finally gets what’s coming to her.
I can’t spoil the plot, but trust me—there are bodies, secrets, danger, and plenty of those laugh-out-loud Mitzy moments. Pyewacket even shows more of his mysterious side, which I loved.
This series is always a quick, fun escape for me. The mystery kept me hooked, the dialogue made me laugh, and the characters are as entertaining as ever. If you haven’t read the Mitzy Moon series yet, I’d recommend reading them also—it makes these books even richer.
All in all, this was another cozy, page-turning adventure. I’m already waiting (impatiently) for the next one.
Another great mystery in this series. Grams has been writing down Mitzy's adventures and has now sold the rights to a movie company. It isn't in the future, it is now, which blindsides Mitzy. Since Erick is campaigning for sheriff, Mitzy needs a little help and so she hires Bristol to help out. When so many things start happening, Mitzy has to tell Bristol her secrets, but Bristol takes it all in stride. When the film crew opens the crypt of Rory Bombay, Mitzy is afraid of what will happen. Turns out that Rory is not in the crypt. What happened to him? When Mitzy and Silas try to contact Rory, she ends up in a coma and Erick is on his own to solve the mystery. A member of the crew is found dead, so Erick and Bristol have to find the killer. Pye saves Mitzy's life and then they find another dead body. When they report it, Sheriff Paulson arrests them both for murder. On election day! How are they going to get out of this one?
Mitzi is back with her “too-hot-to-handle” husband, Erick. The PI business is growing. Mitzi is bringing on an assistant, Bristol. Their cozy town of Pin Cherry Harbor needs a new sheriff & Erick plans to be just that. The film crew shows up at Bell Book & Candle to start filming the production of Ghost-ma’s book, “Tansy Truth Super Sleuth”. One of the scenes is being filmed at a crypt in the local cemetery. Mitzi shows up to check up on security & production when she sees who the crypt belongs to…Rory Bombay, the man who tried to steal her powers. That’s where the trouble starts. People are injured, accidents are happening & she suspects it’s Rory’s ghost causing it all. Silas & Mitzi hold a seance to see what’s really going on & everything goes haywire. Mitzi ends up in a coma & Erick is on the warpath. Grandpa Odell is retiring & Mitzi isn’t sure about the new cook. Will he know how to cook her fries. Will he know she has chorizo with hot sauce for breakfast….
This installment was a wild ride from start to finish. I literally stayed up until midnight to finish it because I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it.
A production crew trying to film Mitzi's life, as written by Ghost-ma, makes some questionable changes to the story and cast people who are doing the story a huge disservice. Add in a murder and things start to spin out of control even more.
We have a new addition to the Harper and Moon PI agency, a more indepth look at our favorite caracal, and the election for Sheriff to deal with. It wouldn't be a Harper and Moon story without having to deal with the out of control antics of Sheriff Paulson, who is determined to keep her position.
This has been one of my favorite stories of this series and I can't wait for more.
Mitzy Moon thought small-town life would be quiet, cozy, and ghost-free but nope! The newest installment drops her right in the middle of a TV show about her own life, thanks to her meddling grandmother from beyond the grave! Between a fiendish feline, an incompetent film crew, and a crypt that should’ve stayed sealed, Mitzy suddenly has more than cameras to worry about. A restless spirit is on the loose!
This paranormal cozy mystery has quirky humor, a sprinkle of magic, ghostly hijinks, and a mystery that keeps you flipping pages! Mitzy’s sass and her unusual support system make her one of my favorite sleuths to follow, and this book is a playful blend of spooky and heartwarming!
✨️If you like mysteries with charm, cats, and a touch of the otherworldly, this series is a must.
⚡️Thank you Kate Rock Book Tours and Trixie Silvertale for sharing this book with me!
This latest installment in the Harper and Moon Investigations was a page-turner from the start. From the movie company coming to shoot Ghost-ma’s “memoirs” in the Bell, Book & Candle, to the opening of Rory Bombay’s crypt, to the murders on the movie set, this book does not stop with action. I could not put the book down. All the main characters are here and have terrific parts down to Eric being able to communicate with Pye and Ghost-ma. The book introduces a new character to the team and Sheriff Paulsen is out of control with power and her reign may be at an end. You do not want to miss this book. I was given an advance copy as an ARC reader and cannot recommend it enough. I cannot wait for the next book to come out.
📖 Book Review 📖 There is no better way to usher in spooky season than with a paranormal cozy mystery (hello, Ghost-ma, where have you been all of my life?!?) Mitzy Moon is doing her best to lead a quiet life in Pin Cherry Harbor (minus the psychic abilities of course). But when a film crew shows up unannounced ready to let the cameras roll on the television series about her life that her grandmother signed the rights away to, life is anything but peaceful for Mitzy and crew. In true cozy mystery fashion, it seems someone always ends up perishing in mysterious ways…Trixie Silvertale pens another smart and comical adventure that grips readers with the right amount of suspense and supernatural.
A really solid series with a cast of characters you wish you saw every day! This one drags some characters from past investigations back into the foreground. There's also the new inclusion of the TV series that is going for filming - from the books G-ma wrote about Mitzi. Oh, didn't know about that? No one did but G-ma. Sparks fly as everyone tries to find their place in the situation. Of course murder and mystery abound so Mitzi needs to get involved. A few side plots develop that will surely be brought back up in future books. Also - the Sheriff's election is happening, now. Plenty of usual twists and turns keep things moving at a quick pace. Lots of fun and I can't wait for the next one!
As always, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this latest book in this series. I love all the characters and could happily live in Pin Cherry Harbor.
Mitzy and Eric's life is thrown upside down when a television crew descends on the bookshop, after Grandma sells the rights (falsifying Mitzy's name on the contracts) to Mitzy's story. Although she doesn't want this, there is no way to get out of a signed contract.
As Eric is campaigning for sheriff, Mitzy hires a young girl as an assistant. Together they find themselves (and later - Eric also) up to their eyeballs in murder. Of course, there is always some supernatural elements to the story.
This is the 7th book in this hilarious and clever cozy mystery series; I’ve read and enjoyed all the previous books, but this book could easily stand alone. Mitzy is a psychic private investigator and somehow ends up in a reality show about her life, thanks to her Ghost-ma, her dead but still around grandma. Her husband, Erick, is running for mayor, but there are complications galore and lots of shenanigans. These books have the best, funniest dialogue and I always enjoy them, but this is one of the best. I can highly recommend this book and the whole series; I was provided an ARC, which I appreciate, but these opinions are my own.
Ghostma has done it again. She sold her story and it’s being made into a movie or at least that’s the start of things. Things start happening when the crew starts shooting. Erick and Mitzy start to look into things and they are getting answers but things go wrong in the end. Mitzy has a plan as usual to save the day or in this case themselves.
As always the story is great and exciting. The characters are so good in this continued story. I love Mitzy and Erick. They are so good together. We get to learn a little bit more about Pywwacket. Look forward to reading more adventures of Harper and Moon.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Ghostma is at it again. Creating trouble for not only Mitzi, but everyone around her. Grams wrote a script about Mitzi's crazy life around the bookstore and signed Mitzi's name on a movie contract. Now the movie company is making everyone miserable. Especially when the company gets the right to open the crypt of Rory Bombay giving Mitzy some bad vibes. With murder, near murder, a missing corpse, and a movie crew, Mitzi has her hands full sorting everything out. On top of it all Eric is running for Sheriff and that could be in danger as well. Definitely an interesting story that will keep you glued to the pages until the end. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Welcome Back everyone to the best place you love to visit and always wish you could stay, the gang is all here with some additions both good and bad. You do not want to miss this edition of the Harper and Moon Investigations I promise you that, you will be glad to be here and celebrate a 5 star story by a fantastic author. So go out and get your copy of this book, I highly recommend you do and like I always say, you will not regret it and might even thank me later;)
I was so excited to receive this arc. Erick is running for sheriff and Mitzi is running Harper & Moon by herself. The film crew is arriving to film the first of the Tansy Truth series in the bookstore. And Mitzi has a roller rink to create. Fortunately Mitzi encounters Bristol a blogger who focuses on Mitzi. Bristol rapidly worms her way to becoming the partner Mitzi knew she needed. I love Bristol. Anyway there’s a lot of action in this installment! Grab a copy soon, you won’t regret it!
Another Great Book! I couldn’t put it down. Ms Silvertale has the best stories ever! She makes each and every character come to Life! You just can’t put the book down! Just when you think you know where she’s going with the characters, she changes it, to where you never saw it coming! I applaud you Ms Silvertale. Please don’t stop writing! You are a Genius when you make your character come to life! Thank you so much for the Fan tasting books that you come up with!!!
Another terrific book! Mitzi, Erick & Silas make me smile, Pyewacket and Ghost-Grandma make my heart happy, and Trixie Silvertale makes me so glad to be on her ARC team where I can visit Pin Cherry Harbor anytime. The mystery, the intrigue and the great storyline is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. Don’t miss this book. This is my honest and voluntary review of an advanced copy of this book.
Now that Erick is running for Sheriff again, Mitzy is left to solve cases by herself. She does get some help from an unexpected source! There was so much going on with this case that there needed to be a way to find out what was happening simultaneously. Trixie does an excellent job portraying that! My favorite part was that we get inside Pyewacket’s head! He gets his own POV! I loved it! This is a FANTASTIC book in a fantastic series!
GhostMa strikes again, her memoirs are being turned into a TV show. In between making sure all is well at the bookstore while filming, taking on a new apprentice and figuring out what Pye is trying to tell her; bodies are dropping and her old nemesis rears his spectral head. Nothing like finding out your nemesis's crypt is empty and accidently being sucked into another dimension. As always hijinks ensues and Mitzi saves the day with help from her crew. Its just another day in Pin Harbor.
Totally love this series. Erick is running for election and a film crew is doing a production of Mitzy’s life. Chaos ensues. There are some accidents and murders and the wretched Rory Bombay somehow is involved even though he is dead. You get to see a little bit of Pyewacket’s mystery. Wonderful series and wonderful book!!!
