Im obsessed with these characters and of the opinion that 1151 pages wasn't enough time with them. I would like to request a minimum of 10.000 pages more please and thank you
This review will be mostly spoiler free (I'll talk only talk in broad strokes an not plot specifics).
If you like thoughtful, slice of life, slow burn with AMPLE spice (this book is a good, long read, my friends), modern fantasy with dragons (who are included in the spice), this book is for you.
If you enjoy dialogue driven books, with spice in the first 1/3, this one is NOT for you (fair warning given).
The MC, Micah, is a human who finds a couple of dragons (at least that's what he thinks they are), and said dragons follow him home! Surprise! His character and strength are tested several times within the pages of this novel, to an extent that PTSD and anxiety are part of the plot. He cracks but never breaks and stays true to his personality and integrity (ngl, to this review writers, fiery Aries dismay). At the end of this story, I have concluded that Micah is a true cinnamon roll. The dragons in this book are inhuman but can alter their form and size. They have opposite personalities and face the modern world with very different approaches. One is akin to a puppy dog, who can have, when necessary, a strong bite. The other is a strong bite, who can, when learned, be thoughtful and cool. These three have a good chance to become a new OT3. The affection that grows between Micah and the dragons is heart warming and so so sweet. The spice, you ask? 5/5! Once you get to it, it covers A LOT of territory (there is full dragon form spice, y'all). I really appreciate how the spice is used to build the character's relationships and move along the story. With how the dragons are written, it is a crucial intimacy. Oh! And for those who are wondering, you get a happy ending! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!
Y'all I really tried, but I could not get past the most unrealistic medical scene I've ever read 😭😭 I was really excited about this plot, because it seemed really cool and unique. Unfortunately, I felt like the writing could be a little more developed. It seemed like there was a lot of focus on unnecessary details, and there were some confusing parts as well. However, I really enjoyed the world building because I felt immersed in ancient culture. BUT, the hospital scene realy pissed me off. First of all, he had a pulse ox on that measured the electrical activity of his heart?? That's not possible. AND THEN, he just takes off all the wires attached to himself including the IV?? OMG please don't do that! The final straw was that Micah and his dad just walked out of the hospital??? He wasn't discharged, and in fact never meets a single nurse or doctor. I really tried reading past it, but I couldn't 😭 My mind was stuck, especially since these were things that you can easily Google. I do think that this book had the potential of being great, but unfortunately, it was not right for me.
4.5 stars. This is a MMM romance/action-adventure novel about a nonbinary/trans protagonist and two immortal dragons he awakened during an archaeological dig.
The protagonist was relatable and endearing, struggling with confidence and trust which mirrored the experiences of one of the dragons. The spicy scenes (which were abundant) were well done and very spicy yet sweet.
The only thing I disliked about this book was its length--it was 2-3 times the length of most fantasy books I've read and I think if it were trimmed down, the plot would flow better and be more engaging. That being said, it was action-packed, romantic, and exciting.
