Kelly Dorkiss never imagined her union with Gregg would be so turbulent. After all, he was the man she prayed for, and as a Christian relationship coach, she founded her career on helping others allow God to arrange their marriages. Surely her own would be perfect.
But perfect, it hasn't been. Instead of joy and happiness, Kelly has consistently experienced heartache due to Gregg's constant cheating. She kept the faith, however, and believed that God would answer her prayers and save her marriage.
It took years for the two to get on track. Just when Kelly begins to finally feel happy, the child Gregg created with another woman is revealed. Fed up with his antics, and disappointed that God has allowed her to be publicly embarrassed, Kelly decides to get a divorce. Just when she makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with Gregg, his other woman, or the baby they made together, tragedy thrusts the child into her life, and she has no choice but to deal with the situation head on. Will this new baby be the glue that holds her marriage together, or will she walk away from Gregg, and God, for good?

This book is a disservice to women. Gregg treated Kelly like trash. He was a serial cheater, liar, and a loser who couldn't keep a job. In this age of AIDS, you have to be stupid to stay with a cheater. Kelly was loyal and faithful to this man. Who constantly disrespected her with his actions. She was in pain 95% of this book. I kept waiting for the moment for her to realize her worth, which never came.
Christian fiction is a joke. It is not the will of God, for women to accept abuse from their spouse. In this genre, the stories deal with infidelity as a way of life. Basically, a woman should remain the stepford wife while her husband sleeps around and puts her life in jeopardy. Then just get over it and accept the consequences, HIV, baby etc....
As a woman, I don't tolerate such behavior. I teach young woman to pay attention to a man's actions not his words. That you are responsible for protecting yourself from STDS and getting pregnant.
God is Love. Love gives, Lust takes. God did not create women to be mistreated in this manner. I am not an advocate of divorce. I am for women realizing their Godly worth and having healthy relationships in which they are valued.
Kelly should have forgiven Gregg, in order for her to heal. But going through with the divorce and making a life without him would have been fine also. Divorce is not bad. Staying in an abusive relationship is worst.
This book started okay but got worse as it went on. The implication here is that somehow the woman in the book is throwing her marriage away even though the husband is the one who cheats on her multiple times and eventually has a baby with another woman. There is such a thing as forgiveness and it would take a very strong woman to do the things in this book, but there is no expectation that a woman stay with her husband after he has continually cheated on her even after she has finally forgiven him for his post transgressions.
I did find the book fun and easy to read and for that I add a star, but the unrealistic nature of the book just left me with the thought "this is stupid" too often to get anything other than 1 star.
What God Has Joined Together by Lashanda Michelle…..Kelly Dorkiss was married to Gregg Dorkiss and Kelly believed that Gregg was the man that God sent her. Kelly was a Christian relationship coach, which helped people with their marriages. Kelly did not have a good marriage herself, Gregg cheated on her several times, but she kept the faith. Kelly was in so much pain that she was unable to forgive her husband for his deceitful ways, which prevented her from receiving her blessing from God. There are times when it is hard to forgive, but we must forgive or miss out on a blessing from God...
So after reading the reviews I thought I wouldn't like this book but it was actually really good. One review said what Christian would leave a baby to cry but Christians are imperfect people and we're human first we very human emotions so even though it wasn't right it could happen. Every Christian has done something their not proud of that's why we need God so much because he loves us and forgives us because he knows that we're not perfect and we sometimes make mistakes.
Kelly is an amazing woman. What her husband put her through. That is true love. I don't think many women in her position would of done what she did. She lost her Faith but once God showed her the way she got it right but. The Love she has for her husband that the kind of love that I want...
This book was great I finished it all in one day. I found book emotional and realistic. I laughed and cried as unread it. The author added humor to the book in spots that gave the reader a chance to breathe during the emotional parts. I will definitely read more books from this author.
I am a good Christian woman and I know for a fact that God does not want us to be in a marriage to a serial cheater. We should forgive and move ON. This books was ridiculous and not at all godly in any way. Please do not read this and think this is how any God fearing woman would react.
I gave this book a 3 rating. It was my 2nd READ by the author but did not move me the same way that "Joy in the time of sorrow" did. Never the less it was nice read and had a strong message of forgiveness. We must always remember that forgiveness is for us and not the other person.
It was a journey, so many things happened in this marriage, I was rooting for her happiness, this book made me mad,it made me sad,but at the end they found joy, would love to see this as a movie. Overall a great read.
What a page tuner. Kelly was a very strong woman. Could I have put up with Gregg? No, but love for someone is a powerful than. Some of Kelly's reactions in this book I must say reminded me of my self, I could not have raise my husband's child. This was a well written book and I enjoyed it.
