Wow! I love when I am pleasantly surprised by a book!!! :) I laughed, I cried, I loved it! After I got past the painfully realistic 13 year-old journal entries in the prologue (really, it sounded scarily like my boy crazy 13 year old diary) I quickly fell in love with the characters. I laughed heartily at the pranks they would play on each other and cried along with them as they learned and grew up together. I'm totally not doing it justice with this cheesy review, but I guess I just identified with the loss of a parent and learning to live again. In any case, I would highly recommend this book, however I only gave it 4 stars because, being self-published, I thought it could use a little...polishing. All-in-all the story flowed well, the characters were lovable, and she somehow made an unbelievable fairytale become believable, which makes up for the iffy parts. P.S. I heart Geoff Mann! ;)

I LOVED this book for so many reasons. It made me laugh out loud, cry, and fall in love. The characters were were well developed and believable. I have not had to go through the death of a family member, but this book made me feel like I could understand through the character's eyes. It was moving without being depressing. It was hopeful, beautiful and unbelievably romantic! I guess you could say it is a book about love, in all it's many forms.... I also have a thirteen daughter, and I would even recommend it to her. I am so impressed that the author made such a swoon worthy book without so much as one bad word or improper scenes! This is the author's debut novel and even has a sequel to this one called "To the Moon and Back". I can't wait to read it next!

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a really nice, clean romance. The main character is a little melodramatic at times, but I still enjoyed it. It captured the difficulty of dealing with and moving on after a lost of someone close well. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it more than I initially thought I would... I was glad that the prologue was the only part written in diary mode, but once I was reading the book thought it made sense why the prologue was written that way.

Ever wondered how it's like being engaged to a famous musician? How about being secretly engaged to one? Sophie is Geoff Mann's fiancee.
This book is mainly about Sophie's struggles when the secret got out of the bag, and how her life totally changed.
Can she handle the surmounting pressure and challenges? Read and find out.

This book was absolutely one of my FAVORITES :) I love reading a book that makes me feel like I am part of the story. I laughed so hard at times, cried, and felt like I was the main character in the story - falling in love all over again. I have re-read this book twice - and would recommend it to ANYONE who loves to read :) Can't wait for the next book :)

This was a very charming story. Not my typical genre - it's sort of young adult meets romance novel - but it moves quickly, has interesting characters and is very sweet and romantic. Would definitely be a big hit with fans of romance novels, Twilight, etc. Great debut novel!

This was a very good story and I really enjoyed it but it would benefit from a good editor. There were too many typos and sentences that I had to read a few times to understand because the words seemed to be in the wrong order. However, the story was most enjoyable.

I thought about giving this a lower rating, but I think I'm not the intended audience; no need to punish the book for this. This would be fantastic for a young adult, ages 14-18. It is a cute story.

not rating because I didn't finish it. I couldn't get past the insane number of typos to even be remotely interested in the story.

Written in the Stars by Jayme Ardente-Silliman starts off with 13-year-old Sophie Watters, who is beyond thrilled to go to The Spinners concert, go backstage, and meet the lead singer, Geoff Mann, her long-time crush. Not only did she meet him, but she also got a kiss on the cheek. Afterward, she was even more convinced that he was the love of her life and they were meant to be together. Just as her dreams seemed to be coming true, she loses her mom to cancer. She stops believing in fairytales, in dreams, and in love. Six years later, she is still grieving for her mom. On a trip to Italy to visit family with her best friend, she runs into her childhood dream: Geoff Mann. Reluctant to let him or anyone else in, she tries to keep him at a distance, even though he may be the one person who can show her that maybe dreams do come true, maybe fairytales do exist, and maybe love isn’t so dangerous and painful after all.

This was most definitely a modern day fairytale romance. Instead of an ordinary girl falling for a prince, it’s an ordinary girl falling for a famous singer/teen heartthrob. And I absolutely loved it. It had so much more depth than your typical fairytale. Sophie used to be full of life, someone who never doubted that dreams come true. Ever since her mom died, she has never been the same. Witnessing this heartbroken, lost young woman so scared of love was difficult, but it was also heartwarming to see someone try so hard to get through that wall she has put up for so long. I think a lot of us can relate to Sophie. Whether we’ve gone through a tragedy like she has or not, we stop believing in fairytales and dreams as we grow older. This story made me believe in those things again. Just because we reach a difficult point in our lives, it doesn’t mean we should stop reaching for our dreams. Thank you Jayme Ardente-Silliman for reminding me of this and for writing such a fantastic story. Written in the Stars will have you wanting to hold the people you love a little closer, open your heart to others, live life to the fullest, and fall in love either for the first time or all over again. It is an absolute must-read. And if my eyes are not deceiving me, there will be a sequel, which I practically squealed about, 13-year-old-Sophie style.
