This is my second Scooby Doo book where the reader chooses what happens and how the story goes and so far I am not at all impressed with this one. I read every possible variation of this book, and there are only two endings where the case is actually solved and the story ends. The other endings they either give up, get stuck, or abruptly end without the story being over. The only reason I gave it two stars was because the story line was interesting. It honestly could have made for a good book if it had been done well. As I said with the last one, I would much rather have read a good Scooby book where there was no interaction then read this awful book with interaction. Also, I didn’t let this affect my review because I didn’t know if it was the book or just my kindle copy acting up, but I borrowed this book from my library via Libby and some of the links didn’t work correctly. I would click to go back to the last choice I made to choose a different direction, and it would take me back to a completely different part of the book. It was extremely frustrating as I wanted to see what other options and endings were part of the story and instead the links took me all over the place instead of back to where it should have.
Miss 6 loves both Scooby Doo and Pick a Path books. She liked the 'hidden features' of Minos Manor and that there was more than one possible solution to 'Whodunnit'. I enjoyed the classical Greek references included for the parents that might be reading.
Miss 6 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
Cute little Scooby Doo You Choose book! My son loved the illustrations and I love that the kindle version has links. I was worried you'd have to scroll after every choice, but it was super easy to navigate!
Scooby-Doo and the gang are off to solve another mystery! This time they are trying to find stolen artifacts that were taken by a Minotaur! The gang has to try and solve the mystery while trying not to get lost in the huge maze that was made to keep people out and the mansion and all its valuables hidden. With many outsiders trying to help solve the mystery the gang must keep a wary eye on them for they might be the ones who stole the artifacts.
This book had a great mystery and story line. Theses books are made to be more interactive for the reader and allow the reader to choose what they think the gang will do and then flip to the appropriate page that they tell you too. It is a great idea to engage readers but after the 2nd time you come to a dead end and must start from the begging you become very frustrated with the book.
Michael, age 5, loves Scooby books, and just discovered this "You Choose" series, which he's really excited about. He thought he had read every possible Scooby-Doo book, but now looks forward to this series. Watch his review here:http://youtu.be/bbFJlEG9mqI
