I had a hard time getting through this book because I couldn't understand why anyone would give the protagonist the time of day. He used, stepped on and screwed over everyone he could in order to make his way to the top, and getting there didn't seem to give him any happiness. I stuck with it to the bitter end, but my time could have been better spent elsewhere.
