The "For His Pleasure" series has been #1 at Barnes and Noble and the top 100 of Amazon.com.
Currently, Kelly is hard at work juggling multiple books and thanking the universe for the patience of her wonderful readers.
The second serial in the series, this quick read proves to be just as fast-paced and entertaining as the first. Raven's employment with Jake has her going on tour with him, under the guise of being his social media coordinator. In truth, he just wants her close by to answer to his kinky whims.
Ms. Favor manages to cover a fair amount of ground in so few pages though. A rival for Jake's attentions is introduced, stirring up jealousy in Raven. Jake shows a more compassionate side of himself when Raven's best friend is faced with a health crisis. Then, everything hits the fan as Jake's past comes back to haunt him, dragging him into a PR nightmare.
Like the first serial, this one is predictable and cliche. However, I am still enjoying this series. I find myself becoming more invested in the relationship between Raven and Jake. I'm expecting more angst in the upcoming serials and I'm looking forward to it. I'm on to the next one.
Wow. A very big improvement from my rating for the first part The Debt 1. While The Debt 1 is like the soggy, disappointing appetizer, the The Debt 2 is the surprisingly good main course.
We follow Raven as she finally accepts Jake Novak, the rockstar's proposition. She is to accompany him in his tour for a month and 2 days a week she will fulfill her job as a Club Alpha agent. Doing what, she doesn't know.
The Debt is finally coming down to its seams in this part. We get to know the mysterious Jake Novak more. And we know now that he is a troubled young man with a dark past that he isn't ready to share yet. This definitely has Fifty Shades feel in it.
Yes, there will be another installment and thankfully, I have come across The Debt 2 while browsing for new reads for I may never have followed up on it referring to my dislike for the first part.
I'm definitely starting to feel like I could start to like Jake now. I feel he is a very hurt and troubled man that hides a lot of himself and his feelings to trudge through life. You can tell Jake likes Raven but I just wish she didn't throw her self at him so hard. I can understand she wants to help Jake get over his past pain and deal through the saga that he is going through with the media but to tell him that she's going to pretend to be his girlfriend.....I just feel like there's going to be a lot more hurt before this whole mess clears up.
Definitely more enjoyable than the first. I like that the whole 'debt' element is diluted in this one and there is an indication that this whole business with the contract she was tricked into signing by the monsters at the club may be eliminated now. This immediately lifts the story for me. I am still undecided whether i like Jake or not. I don't like that he runs so hot and cold. One minute he is so interested in Raven the next he acts like she's not even in the room, then he is completely enthralled by the singer on tour with him, then acts like he doesn't like her either. I like that we get a glimpse of a decent human under there with the hospital scene, but then he says that that part is all an act. Which is the real Jake? It is beginning to spark my interest but hasn't quite achieved it yet... i will persist and see where this goes. I just hope the whole club/contract/debt aspect is over with but considering the name of the series i doubt that, so i am sure i am going to be disappointed with a reappearance of the club b*£*ards.
Much better!! Thank you Kelly Favor for giving me more insight into what makes your characters Jake and Raven tick. It's not much but it was just enough to whet my appetite. I like a character that is tender yet fierce and I feel like Raven is starting to embody that. The way she was there for her friend Sky and also how she stood her ground against Jake endeared her to me. As for Jake, I can't help but sympathize with him. He's a war vet, a man who has lost those he cared about, including his fiancee to cancer, and I feel like there is so much more to learn about him and I'm eager for more. So once again, thanks!
After book1, I wasn't sure this was much more than most other series from Favor, except it's more. Second book has captured a more realistic turn that's touching of sorts hence my buying into the third. Worth the price and time
Well written. Totally hooked in. Need to know what happens with all three of these entwined relationships. I hope Raven and Jake lift each other up other up and carry each over through their individual hardships. Thank you Kelly for a multi-layered read.
Raven Hartley was a struggling waitress, who just made one innocent mistake. Who thought going to a party at a millionaire's home could cause trouble for Raven.
Jake Novak is a pop idol who always gets what he wants. He wants Raven but Raven knows better than to get involved with Jake.
After the party, Raven is given a choice, become Jake's personal escort or have her life destroyed by the Club.
What a choice???
I would recommend this book and I can't wait for the rest of the books. Still in love with Kelly Favor Books
I liked this well enough. Jake and Raven are spending time together and she's learning a little about his daily activities. That is until she gets a frantic call from her best friend. She tries to leave but Jake refuses and insists he go with her.
I feel for Raven, Jake is definitely hot and cold. It would drive me so crazy. I don't know if my emotions could handle that kind of toying with. She's a lot stronger than me. I guess we'll see if she can take more.
I am Captivated by this emotionally , bi-Polar Trainwreck that is Jake And Raven's tormented relationship or lack thereof .Jake is so hot and cold ,but Raven still wants him even though she plays hard to get...then always ends up losng out .I found myself unable to sleep until i had the next chapter in my hand , just to see what happend next.
It was ok. I really couldn't get into the characters, will not be finishing the series. There was moments that Jake showed he wasn't a totally bad person. I don't even know what to say about her, just couldn't get into it.
Convenient, that's all I can say about both characters. They don't feel like fleshed people, but convenient variations of emotions and attributes. And not once I felt anything except eye-rolling skepticism and mild disgust for any of the characters, either main or secondary.
