I really enjoyed "The club" and I was delighted to dive into a new novel by Takis Würger, read in just two days.
We meet Molly, whose father is on death row awaiting his imminent execution. Ten years ago, he confessed to the murder of a young boy. Molly is certain her father is innocent, and she decides to resume the investigation to spare him the death penalty.
Suspenseful, a beautiful story, and even though we guess the culprit fairly quickly, the book is really enjoyable to read. I loved Molly and her determination. I was touched by her relationship with her father and then with her uncle; they truly are a beautiful family.
The American atmosphere is well described: the basement apartment in New York, the gun lobby, the death penalty, and the poverty that drives families to live in trailers. It's dark, cleverly constructed, and once you start, it's very difficult to put the novel down.
