Rose Reynolds is a hardworking young woman with no time to play games. She can't afford to, being the supporter of family for her siblings, filling in for their less than desirable mother. When bills come due, she is left with only one option—more work. Rose goes to the men who own half the city—and carry the worst reputation. Men who have filled her fantasies for years and are not only the owners of both places she currently works, but the founding members of the Devil Savages MC. A Native American club notorious for their rough reputation, and their wild, wicked ways.
Tony "Tonto" Walkingstick and Blake "Sandman" Tenkiller hope they haven't made a mistake when they hire Rose to work at the Devil Savages private holdings. Instead, they get a glance at how strong the little waitress is, and reevaluate their initial impressions of the delicate little rose. They've had their eye on her for awhile, but never thought she’d be open to their rough preferences and colorful sexual exploitations.
The Devil Savages realize there is a traitor amongst them, giving the Diablos information on their clubs activities and helping the Latino gang bring drugs onto the Savages' turf. When all roads lead back to Rose, she leaves unable to put up with the accusations against her.
Tonto and Sandman want answers, but what are they willing to sacrifice to receive them—a life of someone they love? Can a broken relationship with a rival gang be patched to combat against a common problem, the Diablos? And will two harden men who never apologize for how they live their lives be able to hold on to the Rose as the thorns cut deep?
This was pretty bad. Writing was terrible. Story was all over the place and seemed to just skip around. It was a weird and confusing read. Editing was horrible.
I really liked the sexy menage in Sharing Freedom so of course I had to give this one a read (and it was only 99 cents). Rose and her relationship with two big bad bikers was just what I expected...a strong but pretty damsel-in-distress story but with some bite and a whole lot of steamy threesomes. There were plenty of catfights (the women in this club were so sleezy and rough), some club business gone wrong (that Rose gets inadvertently involved in), a family of kids who had no good parental figure (except big sis Rose) and at the heart of it all, two men who haven't learned to grow up and commit yet...until they get into a bed of Rose. A short, fast paced but pretty intense biker romance with nothing too original and yet I still really liked it enough to read it in one go!
I'm not sure what book everybody else read, but this book just wasn't any good. Cliche after cliche of the "biker genre," and most of those aren't even correct. Don't bother.
I hovered between 3 & 4 stars for this story. It was better than 3 stars (just okay) but not enough to make it to fours (I really liked it).
The club life was well written along with the usual rival gang side of the plot. There was some graphic violence which I personally have no problem with, and almost expect in a biker book. That side of this story was probably it's saving grace.
((((Possible spoilers ahead))))
What fell short for me, the relationship between the MC's Rose, Tonto and Sandman. I expected more from the menage aspect and hoped it would add a little something different to a biker story. Instead, after the initial scene it just fell into what I call a formulaic romance story. *girl meets boy/s. Hook up and have sex. Misunderstanding follows. Drama caused by lack of communication. Book nears an end. Boy/s girl sort out their shit and have one last fling. Which also lacked any depth.
I like strong females in stories, but the ol' ladies in this one had bigger balls than the men. It got old.
Rose's mother was a bitch so what happened at the end had me rolling my eyes. It was a bit too tidy and am I still unsure what caused her to do a 360 turn around, other than it tidied up the ending. Oh and that the guys accepted her no questions asked despite what Rose had been through. Again too tidy.
If you like hot alpha possessive guys and a committed m/f/m relationship, this book is for you. Very hot love scenes and the two H's are OTT possessive. I had previously read Sharing Freedom (Warriors MC) and went back to review that book prior to reading Bed of Roses. Bed of Roses is basically the same story line with different characters. I like this author's writing style but I think I made a mistake by reading the books back to back. Too much similarity. There is a small connection between the books as the VP's of both clubs are half brothers. This doesn't have any bearing or either book and they can be read as stand alones. I am reading book 2 Bringing Harmony (Warriors Ops 2) next and I hope that there is a variation in the story line.
Cliffhanger: HEA: Cheating: Rape: Violence: POV: Sensuality level (1 being kissing only and 5 being Penthouse Letters graphic:: 3, menage, explicit and graphic sex scenes, not super erotic though Grammar errors/typo level (1 being what you'd see in any book, 5 being this read like a rough draft): 3, noticeable errors
Due to her irresponsible mainly absent mother Rose not only works to pay the bills and put food on the table but also has to look after her five siblings, leaving very little time and no money for herself, when the bills pile up it becomes obvious that one job just isn't enough so she approaches Tonto the President of the Devil Savages asking if he has more work for her, there's definitely an attraction between her and not only Tonto but also Sandman the clubs Sgt at Arms but she's determined not to become her mother and sleep with any biker that looks her way. Rose is not only a hard worker but her feisty personality and take no s*** attitude not only surprises but intrigues Tonto and Sandman, but the question is can they break down Roses resolve since she nothing like the women they're used to they'll actually have to put some effort in and if they do do they only want one night with her. Now I have to say I enjoyed this book, it's a hard gritty MC book with violence and sex, I was never bored while reading but I did have a few issues, Rose I loved for the most part, I liked the way she stood up for herself but, and I know she had to appear strong but on a couple of occasions she just went too far, on one occasion way too far. Tonto and Sandman jumped far too quickly to conclusions based on the evidence they had, I know they're men but still, and I just felt parts were rushed and almost jumped over, like I said this is an enjoyable book but with more time and development it could have been so much more.
Bed of Roses (Devil Savages MC #1) by Harley McRide
I came across this book/series the other day and starting reading Bed of Roses, of course I am a collector of books so when I started to enjoy the story and liked the authors writing I had to do some exploring to see what else Harley has written. Ok so now I am reading both of her series, and love them.
Devil Savages MC is definitely a hot,steamy/erotic romance novel, with some twists and great storyline.
Loved it! Would recommend this to anyone who loves MC Reads!
I jumped right into this after reading both Warrior Ops book
I liked Rose, but she was no Harmony. There really wasn't enough relationship development in this for me. We really didn't get much from the guys and days went by with no contact at all.
Premise = okay. Execution = ho hum. Yet still something about this did not work. Whilst we read these types of books to escape life, they need to be a bit realistic. This missed the mark.
I really liked Rose. I liked that she would do anything for her siblings, including working three jobs and entering a dangerous party alone to keep her sisters safe. I both liked and disliked Sandman and Tonto. They were hot and kinky but I disliked them many times because of the way they treated Rose. Yes I understood that they had a rough childhood and that they didnt trust easily but they were so mean to Rose when they jumped to conclusions and thought that she was selling them out to their enemy. It annoyed me that they were so easy to distrust Rose, and then threaten her when they knew she had children at home that needed her. I wanted Rose to hold on to her anger for longer and not to forgive them so quickly but I am glad that she got her happily ever after that she so badly deserved. I loved that Rose was badass, she could certainly handle herself against club rats and she said what she wanted when she wanted. I loved her attitude and her friendship with Raven. As this is the first book of Harleys that I have read I cannot wait to read more of her work but also to read Ravens story if it has been released. - I am going to goodreads stalk Harley ;)
Although I wasn’t instantly gripped, I soon got into the story and couldnt put it down! Some of the scenes in this book are panty melting hot and it satisfied my craving for ménage stories one of my favorite genres. If you like hot possessive bikers then this book is for you.
Rose Reynolds works hard in order to provide for her five younger siblings. Already working one job at the diner for the devil savages MC. Ever since she first started working at the diner Rose has fancied the pants off of two of the bikers, Tonto the president and Sandman the VP. But with her life busy with providing for her siblings and trying to keep her head above water she has pushed her attraction aside. That is until she asks Tonto and the MC for a second job, causing her to spend more time with Tonto and Sandman when she gets into a fight with a nasty club rat, Krista. When they start to spend more time together, they get hot and steamy together and soon realise their feelings for one another but both Tonto and Sandman have had rough childhoods and don’t trust women easily, will they be able to put their past aside and claim Rose as their woman before it’s too late?
Really enjoyed the book. Great story n hot sex. Let down by appalling editing and chapter structure. I spent a lot of time re reading paragraphs trying to work out who was speaking or which perspective it was from. Really bad. Stuck with it cos it's a great book but others would just dnf.
This book needs a overhaul! Proper structure, editing and layout needed.
Honestly your readers shouldn't be having to guess who it is your reading from.
Great book let down by no editing!!!
Sloppy
Don't be put off though the series is fab b book two is better with more clear structure etc
Rose has her hands full raising her siblings with limited income. She takes a chance and asks the President of the Devil Savages for a job, and it opens up another avenue with the MC. When a breach occurs, Rose is accused by the two men she has grown to love. When everything comes out in the open will she forgive them and get the chance to rekindle the relationship that was developing between them. This action-packed drama had me cheering this trio on to happiness!
Hmm, this was weird, the hole biker world, was different, and not in a good way. The story was all over the place, and confusing. The writing was a tad bad to.
I understand that this series, Devil's Savages, is supposed to intertwine with the Ops Warriors but do both series have to be so eerily similar? Tonto and Sandman are two complete assholes in this first book, just like Easy and Poke were in Sharing Freedom. Treating Rose like a damn whore even though she was far from it. Raven was another version of Shady, just a more annoying and disrespectful one. Rose, on the other hand, was nothing like Freedom. She was actually tough, knew how to defend and stand up for herself and didn't take shit from anyone, so I preferred her character a lot better to that of Freedom's. Though Rose was a bit gullible when it came to Tonto and Sandman I'm glad that she didn't forgive them nor cave into their bullshit so easily. She was a good and loyal sister to her family as well...
...but once again we still get stuck with a cliffhanger and no end in sight with this damn battle with the Diablos...this is just getting frustrating. ..
This was a great read from start to finish. Rose was a young woman doing what she can to look out for her siblings because her mother only cared about herself. She goes to the Devil Savages MC looking for a second job to help with bills. Tonto and Sandman has had a hellish time growing up and is very suspicious to outsiders but gives Rose a second job because they actually kind of like the little flower. Lo and behold the little flower has thorns and refuse to let anyone control her life. What I loved about the story was not only the explosive sex and chemistry between the three but the fact that Rose stood her ground against any and everyone who stood in her way. It's a spectacular cast of characters that I can't wait to find out more about. I'm so looking for to the next book in the series.
I heeded the warning of the m/f/m relationship but it didn't bother me. Rose is a strong h-working to support her family, raising her siblings while her mother looks for love in all the wrong places. Rose takes the plunge and asks the Devil Savages for a job. Tonto and Sandman have had their eyes on Rose since she started working at the diner. They like her and want to see if she can fit into their life. Rose takes to their lifestyle, proving she can handle herself. Raven, the club mother figure, takes Rose under her wing & push Tonto and Sandman to get their act together to claim Rose. There are a lot of things going on-Rose raising her siblings, dealing with her mother, learning to fit into the club, finding love, club business. I'm not totally sold on the series, but it has potential.
Book 1 in the Devil Savages MC series. 3.9 Stars, so close to being a 4 star or over book. The Devil Savages earn there name by being very savage in their dealings with the enemy. This can lead the book to being a little dark in some spots. Not bad, just dark. Rose is working at a Devil Savages place and serves some members food at the same time each day. She works hard to keep her brothers and sisters in food and clothes while her flake of a mother is not helpful. Tonto and Sandman like Rose, so when she asks for more work, they are happy to offer something that brings her further into the club, and brings her closer to them. But when information is leaked, will they trust their feeling.
3,5 ⭐️ Dur.
The book had a very real life vibe to it. I could literally close my eyes and feel as if I was in a real life MC Biker Gang. Rough and tough bikers that will skin you alive one minute and then have a heart of gold the next. What's not to like about that. Then the Ole lady's they are something fierce. I loved how they stuck together as a family and always wanting to help out each other. A truly great read and I look forward to reading what's to come next.
I liked this book a lot but I think I like op warriors more! This one didn't have as much action in it as the other did! I was hoping for a little more! It was still exciting though! Tonto and sandman were asses for most of the book but when they love they love hard! Rose was one tough bitch and I really liked her! She literally kicked ass the whole book! He should have slant her sisters around a little though!
Rose was raising her sisters by working two jobs she had asked the Devil Savages MC that happens to own the dinner she worked in as well for a job another job as well ..Tonto and Sandman and Rose had a fling but to Rose it was more then hat .. Until Tonto and Sandman discover that they was in love with Rose .. But something happen to make Rose that broke her heart .. Can Tonto and sandman win back Rose ???
been a long time since i read this series but i definitely remember along with the angst and the danger (and the hot, sweaty sex) there is a great romance and some really engaging characters. very fast read and great start to the series
I really liked this book. This book has a lot going for it. It made me cry, it's hot as hell, and very brutal. This was the first book of Harley McRide's that I've read. I was very impressed, I will be buying more. I'm hooked.
