Tai Chi Training in China

Rate this book
If you have ever wondered what it is like to study Tai Chi Chuan (Taijiquan) in China itself, read this book! Author Howard Thomas went there in 1989 and spent five years with different Masters, Teachers & Coaches doing just that. With ten years of Tai Chi study in England behind him, he went from "innocent abroad" to multiple gold medal winner in Chinese competitions. In addition, he studied the traditional methods of the Yang style with a man who is probably the most learned person in that Mei Ying Sheng.
His time in China took him through the days of the Tiananmen Square massacre, brought him a Chinese wife, and led to an in depth study of the Chinese language and its relationship to Tai Chi. His book explains the meaning of the terms Master, Teacher and Coach with reference to their Chinese usage and their origins in the calligraphy of the country. All in all, this work is a "must" for all students of Tai Chi and Martial Arts, whatever their persuasion.
