An Aferrum Brotherhood Novella. 26,100 words.
Luke has given up the idea of finding someone to spend his life with, at least until he’s no longer working for his uncle and living in a small town. When his eyes meet those of a sexy stranger after a hockey game he’s almost tempted to listen to his friends. They’d been urging him to give in and find a man to share some intimacy with. Luke’s ideals don’t mesh well with the idea of a one-night stand.

Sycita isn’t an ordinary human looking for a man to sate his lusts. He’s not human at all. Walking into the ice rink had been the best thing he could have done while searching for a male to use during his Needing. What Syc didn’t expect was the draw to not only bed but to keep the human male.

Can the two lovers conquer their differences, their burning lust and their families to find some semblance of happy ever after?

About the author

Lea Barrymire

Lea lives in Western New York with her hubby, three children, and miscellaneous critters. Before the rugrats, she lived a life of adventure, following her husband all over Europe with the US military. She’s slept in a car outside Paris, drove six hours just to see tulips in the Netherlands, and knocked ash from her shoes at Pompeii. Now she spends her time in life’s adventures at soccer games, PTA meetings and school plays.

Lea has loved reading from a very young age, spending many sleepless nights devouring books. Science fiction and paranormal were her favorite genres to read as a teenager, and that love bled into her adult life. She started writing during a bout of insomnia, to fill time, and found it filled a creative void. Now she communes regularly with the characters in her head and tries not to laugh out loud when they say something funny.

When Lea isn’t reading, writing or corralling kids, she enjoys watching movies and sciencey shows, or just kicking back and listening to some music.

Lea Barrymire’s Forever Captive had me at page one. This fast paced scifi MM novel has a lot of heat to go along with the heart and soul. Luke thinks he cannot have that special someone in his life. Things always have proven to him that happily ever after isn’t in the cards for him. He meets Sycita in a bar. Luke is attracted to him, and thinks okay sex would be great. What he didn’t count on was Sycita being a whole lot more than a one night stand. Sycita is looking for the one human he can keep forever. He needs to do it soon time is running out for him. When he finds Luke, he doesn’t intend to let him go…ever.
I liked the chemistry these characters have. I also like the realism they are real characters with flaws and hang ups. But in the end they each need each other to make it. I would love to read more about Sycita and his friends…and who they find to love next.

Reviewed by Brandilyn for Prism Book Alliance Writing wise, I dont believe Forever Captive was any weaker than Astrally Yours, I just had a few issues with continuity among the two stories, as being that this is the second story in the series, I they pulled me from the story a few times. FC and AY are supposed to be about the same brotherhood of beings, but I often got the impression that they werent from the same world. For one thing, in AY I got in impression that while being gay wasnt frowned upon, it wasnt common and in FC I was given the impression that all of that species specifically needed male mates. Some other things that pulled me repeated use of the term male for everything and by everyone, including the human characters. Yes these are two different authors, and as such I expect differences in writing styles, but I guess the world was just enough different that it bothered me.
