She grew up in a variety of different homes, including a riverside shack with no electricity or running water, and even a tent. She and her sister spent their childhood chasing goats, climbing trees, eating peas and corn out of their mother’s vegetable garden, and occasionally rushing to get their correspondence school work in on time. Despite the difficulties of this lifestyle, she wouldn’t swap it for all the luxuries in the world (though she is rather fond of her running hot water and indoor plumbing now!)
She met her husband in ‘Family Therapy’, an elective they were both taking as part of their psychology degrees. It took several years for them to get together, in fact, their roleplaying characters got together before they did!
They married on the beach at sunrise in 2002, two months after Rinelle popped the question.
Although she had always loved to write, it wasn’t until her daughter was about eighteen months old that Rinelle started writing seriously. Probably not the best stage in terms of having spare time! And time only became scarcer when her daughter gave up her day sleep six months later. But by then, Rinelle had well and truly caught the writing bug, finding time somehow to continue with her passion. Her fast typing speed learnt from spending way too much time chatting on IRC, and the investment in an iPad when they came out, helped immensely.
Rinelle now lives on acreage with her husband and homeschooled daughter. In her spare time, she sells stock photography through an online site to support her family, and is hoping that writing will be able to add to that.

When their fiancé was killed in a battle with the trolls, Brianna and Mianna were devastated. But life moved on, and Mianna fell in love with Terion. Wow! I absolutely loved this book! Aussie author Rinelle Grey’s fantasy books have now gone onto my favourites list, and I can’t wait to read her next one. A romance with a difference, with magic and illusions; strength, courage and determination – the characters are excellent, the emotions real. Even if you are not a fantasy lover (which I wasn’t) this isn’t anything more than a romance with a difference…
I have no hesitation in recommending this novel highly.

Grey begins her new story with the same approachable, inviting writing style that we’ve come to know and love from her. The storyline is enticing and exciting. Grey gives a brand new twist to the fantasy genre, building it up with exquisite narrative and vivid descriptions. She has developed a solid mythology and history for her land to back up her solid and exciting storyline.
I absolutely loved how real the characters in this story were. The entire cast was brilliantly developed, allowing you to get to know them as individuals, as part of a family, and as part of a community. Above all, they are extremely real. They aren’t perfect fae-like beings, but rather individuals who stand up for their own. Now, that’s not to say that the main characters aren’t absolutely phenomenal. I can’t think of a pair of fantasy characters that I’ve loved more.
Overall, this was an exciting and adventurous tale that I couldn’t put down. This is definitely an emotional tale that will keep you coming back for more, even after the perfect ending to the perfect story.

I liked the idea behind the story. This has potential to be a good book. This fantasy world is made up of humans, mages, and trolls.
They are all fairly developed. However , there are numerous conflicting ideas, that just don't work. This slows the story down. I really wish this would have flowed better, because I really did enjoy the story.
This book desperately needs a thorough editing. I was debating if I should continue to read it, after the first chapter. The problems would get better for a bit, but then they would reappear. When dealing with fantasy worlds, where all the characters and cities have unusual names, it is important to keep spelling consistent. There are missing words, extra words, typos, and missing punctuation. The timeline seems to be off as well.
Thanks to the author for sharing this new twist on fated lovers.

I was quite surprised by how much I enjoyed Twin Curse. Really the only reason I started reading it is because I didn't understand. Born together, wed together what? So they are twins they have to marry the same person? Why and how does that end up working? The only reason why I started the book was to try and get answers to these questions. It just seemed like such a ridiculous idea. The story really grabbed me right away and it was one of those book where I ended up reading it slower than normal to try and make it last longer.
At first I did keep questioning why the twins had to marry the same person. The world is built through showing things happening and whatnot, so it is not just a chunk of text explaining everything. Once you finally realize why they had this rule though I was like oh! That makes sense in the realm where they live. So it was interesting, but kept me wondering which I liked.
Brianna and Mianna are the twins that must marry the same man. Mianna has someone in town she wants to marry, but Brianna just doesn't feel the same way about him. They live in a tiny village at the base of some mountains, and their village gets attacked by trolls every few months. They have a rough time trying to defend themselves against the trolls and after one of these attacks Brianna runs away, faking her own death by troll. She goes to the big city and has some adventures and meets Lyall. He is a mage, someone she has always been taught to fear. Mages are supposed to be evil, or magic is evil, and scary and whatnot. Little does she know she is a Mage as well, and there are some funky things going on with her village.
Lyall and Brianna start hanging out and really start falling for each other, even though she keeps telling him she can never marry him. I mean she is a twin after all so it would never work. He is really great with her, and seems to really care for her, and then is devastated when she runs away one day after a horrible dream about her town. Lyall follows her, but doesn't know where she went. He also has to help protect everyone from the evil other mages he has heard about his entire life. Of course this leads him to Brianna's village and fun times! I loved once he got there and all of the pretenses that had to be kept up and everything. I mean most guys want to marry twins, but Lyall just wants Brianna. It is kind of sweet, and kind of corny how everything works out. I really enjoyed the story though. Very sweet and I loved the world that was created. Much simpler times, but still magical.

I was revolted by the idea of "born together, wed together" when I started the story. Unless both twins have the exact same personality, I really doubt they can love the same person.
The story is told from multiple POVs, I don't normally fancy stories told from multiple POVs but Rinelle Grey made the story flow seamlessly from one character to another.
Well, the story begins with Mianna, one of the twins asking Brianna, the other twin how she felt about this one village dude. Mianna loves the dude but not Brianna, who still can't forget her dead beloved. So after a troll attack, which happens really often in their village, an idea came to Brianna. Brianna fake her death and ran to the city. There Brianna met Lyall, a visitor to the city. The moment they met is where everything changes for Brianna.
I was wondering how the story would proceed after Brianna ran away. I thought it would be cliche if Brianna fell in love, got married and stay in the city. I really wasn't expecting anything magical related. So I was surprise when Lyall's POV came into the story describing how he felt a magical uh..."aura" that Brianna possess.

Twin Curse is about twins and their curse. OBVIOUSLY. HAHA. sorry. anyway,yeah this book is about a set of twins,Brianna and Mianna. "Born together,wed together." and no,it doesnt mean that they would get married on th same day. it means that they must get married to th SAME GUY. which,in my opinion,a really ridiculous law. just because they are twins,that doesnt mean that they have th same feelings too. ANYWAY,HAHA god,i love this book. Okayokay,anyway,Mianna fell for a guy,a boring one. which obviously didnt appeal to th adventurous Brianna. Hence,Brianna decided to fake her own death and run away to another state. There,lonely and lost,she met a handsome guy,who she will eventually fall in love with :) HEHE.

basically,i love this book because it is about sisters. th way sisters stood by each other even when they disapprove of th other's actions. and i love how th author shows everyone's point of view. that way,you dont really have to guess what th other person is thinking. i love Brianna,though. she is like my ideal female character. brave,adventurous and awesome as hell. i love how th author made th sisters total opposites of each other. yes,there are times when i actually hated Mianna. HAHA. especially when she tried to separate Brianna and th hothot mage. i mean,HELLO,she loves him,she doesnt love your boring husband. HEHE. anyway,yes i love this book. if there was ever gonna be a prequel,i shall grab it up,hehe. i rate this book 5stars.

Twin Curse is another book from Australian author Rinelle Grey, I was thrilled to be offered the opportunity to read and review an ARC copy and couldn't wait to start reading. I would describe this as a fantasy/romance. Twins are rare in this land, but when a man finds twin sisters he can't wait to get married because he gets to marry both as an ancient law is upheld. Mianna and Brianna are of marriageable age and there are few suitors in their village because of the constant attack by Trolls. Brianna is torn between her twin and her heart, she cannot face marrying the man her twin has chosen, so she fakes her death and runs away. Brianna runs to the city, but it is not all she hopes until one day she meets a young man. Lyall instantly recognises a fellow mage, but Brianna seems unaware of her magic and power. Back in Brianna's village the worst attack ever from the Trolls leads Brianna to make drastic decisions. Rinelle weaves a magic of her own throughout this book, the settings and the characters are well written. The concept of a magical curse and ancient rules set by Kings long ago is peeled away in gentle layers as you read through the book. It's the young of today who must choose how they take forward the rules of the land and how they will change them for the better. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more books from this author.

I loved this story, I couldn't stop reading it!
Personally, I thought the book was very well written, there was moments that I thought I was right next to the characters in that fantasy world.
I can't wait Rinelle Grey finish writing Troll Curse so I can read it. :)

Hmmm. I thought the premise of this book was interesting, and I'm always game for a "girl runs away from small town to see the wide world" fantasy...
However, this suffered, I think, from trying to be a high-school YA romance at the same time as a high fantasy tale of mages and monsters and lots of magic. The main characters reacted to each other the way that a contemporary boy and girl might, with their contemporary manners and morality. And it wasn't believable in the fantasy environment.
Also, the bulk of the book is spent with characters fighting against a law (twins must marry the same man) that seems nonsensical. While the historical / magical reasons for that law are explained in the course of the book, I'd already been pulled out of the story because it just didn't make sense to me at a gut level.
So, in short: interesting idea, but the execution left something to be desired.

When I first started reading this book, I was super into it! I loved the premise of the story and Brianna's solution to her problem. She and Lyall meet and their romance is sweet and funny and sincere....*sigh* But after Brianna says "yes" to going to the Isle de Magi with Lyall things went downhill for me. Every scene felt too scripted and forced. I found myself guessing what was next before it happened. The war with the trolls just stopping like it did was too easy. So...I really enjoyed the first half or so but the second half was too bland and predictable for me.

ooooooh, yikes. no for me, i'm so sorry.
interesting premise about twins, but i honestly did not like this at all. bri sort of gets a pass for her immaturity being 19 and stuck in her tiny village her whole life, but i couldn't reconcile lyall being 25. and just the line about him being unable to believe she was so young because she looked/acted older and more mature? blech. look, age gaps can be fine but phrases like that make me want to curl up and die. thankful that lyall showed some hesitance... but then not too long later, they're getting frisky. i feel like the concern was just so pointless that they should've just made her older/him younger. idk.
okay, sorry -- i feel that i'm being overly rude about this. i will be honest and did speed read through except the beginning and last 10% of the book, i guess. i think that again, while the concept was initially interesting, the execution was a little predictable and i can't say i was very satisfied with... anything, really. this book read like YA but with quick/rough pacing and horniness with waaay too strong emotions from both sides that i just didn't found reasonable. bah, mage bonding felt like such a hand-wave.
book just wasn't for me at all, apologies, but would be good for anyone who wants a lighter read with a quick romance, simplistic world/magic system, and a happily ever after for everyone.
interesting premise about twins, but i honestly did not like this at all. bri sort of gets a pass for her immaturity being 19 and stuck in her tiny village her whole life, but i couldn't reconcile lyall being 25. and just the line about him being unable to believe she was so young because she looked/acted older and more mature? blech. look, age gaps can be fine but phrases like that make me want to curl up and die. thankful that lyall showed some hesitance... but then not too long later, they're getting frisky. i feel like the concern was just so pointless that they should've just made her older/him younger. idk.
okay, sorry -- i feel that i'm being overly rude about this. i will be honest and did speed read through except the beginning and last 10% of the book, i guess. i think that again, while the concept was initially interesting, the execution was a little predictable and i can't say i was very satisfied with... anything, really. this book read like YA but with quick/rough pacing and horniness with waaay too strong emotions from both sides that i just didn't found reasonable. bah, mage bonding felt like such a hand-wave.

This is an amazing story with a wonderful ending. As twins, Mianna and Brianna must follow the law that says all twins must marry the same person. However, Brianna just can’t accept Mianna’s choice, so by running away, she finds her own true love, even though circumstances separate them for two years. The story has mages and magic, trolls, and a lot of surprises. You will find out who the trolls really are and why they have attacked the village for centuries; how and why the twin law came about; how characters change; how everything works out for the best, even though it’s impossible to see how that can happen. I really enjoyed seeing the main characters change to do what is best for all concerned. I would certainly recommend this book to others. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest review of this story.

Entertaining but oversimplified
The whole premise of this book was just odd. It was ok. Entertaining enough to make me want to know how it ended but not deep or good enough to keep me hanging on every single word. I skimmed a LOT because it just didn’t keep my attention.
Everything felt oversimplified and there was a lack of depth to characters’ actions.
For example the King is vehemently immovably against something one moment and one sentence from the heroes later, he’s changed his mind and done a complete 180.
It all felt a little too easy. A little too convenient.
Interesting plot as I said but, apart from the sex, it reads like it was written for children, not adults.

Rinelle paints a beautiful setting for her fantasy world, in which magic is feared and birth twins are shackled by a ridiculous and unforgiving law.
Being a twin myself, the story understandably drew me in from the beginning. The portrayals of the twins--Mianna and Brianna--are very realistic, as they both share similar qualities while have distinct, and often contrasting personalities. They butt heads, while ultimately remaining as a team.
My favorite character would have to be Lyall. He has a strong sense of duty and initially investigates Brianna because he senses her powers. When it becomes clear that she is oblivious of her own abilities, he watches over her, in a protective manner, which leads to a budding relationship. I am impressed (yet often disappointed as an anticipating reader) by Brianna's resolve to resist pursuing the romantic pull she obviously feels, remaining loyal for her sister's benefit. Ultimately, she chooses to join Lyall on the Isle de Magi to attempt to stake out a fulfilling life for herself as a mage. But her devotion to her sister wins out and she abandons love and happiness to ensure Mianna's and Eryvale's safety.
Time passes and Lyall hardens as a person, and understandably so. His change is realistic, but he is not the only one that changes. Brianna remains strong as ever, but her will to put her own desires aside for the good of her family win out, as Lyall finds out when they reunite under tenuous circumstances.
The magic in this world is a misunderstood art, yet it paves the way for the story's ultimatum--highlighting the strength (and magic) of love, both romantic and familial. Ultimately that is Rinelle Grey's brilliance in this story, love conquers all. Love for a partner, love for family and children. The underlying devotion and self-sacrifice remains the same, even in the story's villains--the rampaging trolls bent on total destruction.
It is a quick read once started that satisfies at the end. I highly recommend it to any and everyone.

I'm on the fence with this book, I was so enthralled and I was thinking this is an interesting book. Not read something where twins have to marry the same guy before, its an interesting story line so I'll go with it...
I am pleased I did because this book is pretty damn entertaining. I felt so many emotions reading this, sadness - over the twins being in love with different people, happiness that she finds somebody to love like her sister has, annoyance over the king... etc I could go on.
I was warming to the king as he seemed like a nice guy underneath everything... but then he was so rude to the twins and so nasty to his son I was so annoyed he sort of redeemed himself but not very much. That is the only thing that taints the story, how his dad is so harsh to him and I felt so bad for Lyle all the time it wasn't fair.
I like Lyle for a few reasons, I liked how he trusts Brianna without really much cause, he was so jealous when he found out about her twin sister's husband and then he just calms down when Brianna explains. It was the bond straight away.
I must admit I was thinking would this twin thing really happen? In main stream society marriage between more than one person is frowned upon and I don't think that twins marrying one guy would be so easily accepted as it was in this book. It was so accepted in this book people would get quite mad over twins not being married to the same person. Which is why the story is how the story is...
I doubt I'll read the next book as its a book told from the trolls point of view and I'm not keen on novellas and that is what the next book screams to me.

I have never read anything by Rinelle Grey before and only got this book because it was free. Boy, was I in for a surprise!
Born together, wed together. It is an ancient law that is never broken. Twins are considered to be a great boon for the man that is good enough to win both of them. Brianna and her sister grow up with the knowledge that they will wed the same man. But, the man that they both love is killed in the war and when Brianna's sister falls in love with another man, Brianna realizes that her only hope for happiness is to run away. After becoming a maid at a tavern, she meets Lyall. Though Brianna has no intentions of falling for any man (because of the law), Lyall works his way under her defenses. But Lyall has secrets of his own, secrets that will change everything. When a crisis back home arises, Brianna leaves without a word to Lyall. Will he ever find her again? Or will Brianna be forced to wed the man that her sister has chosen? And when the reason for the twin law comes out, it's a gamechanger for sure!
I really, really enjoyed this book. It was a quick and easy read but very enjoyable. Would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys fantasy and a good romance to boot. Loved the way the characters developed. Twin Curse is a standalone book which is another plus to me. Too many series started these days and ending in cliffhangers. Loved the fact that I could read this book and not have to go buy the next one to find out how it ended. Great job!

I give this book 4 starts out of 5
At the beginning I couldn't get into the book because the story was going to fast for me and the writing style was a bit rusty. But after 20 pages or so the story got really interesting and I got used to the writing style! I loved this book and all of its cliches . I loved how all the man in this book are nice and sweet. Not the dominating kind of male that just HAS to get their way and doesn't listen to the female.
Overall I really enjoyed reading this book and it's going onto my favorite list! Looking forward to reading more from this author as well.

Okay, so the story was not at all what I thought it was going to be. Well, it sort of was but I was expecting some futuristic dystopian population control thing, but instead it was in the past? The cover is misleading, is what I'm trying to say.
Anyways, once I got past the 'it's not set in the future' thing I really liked this book. Brianna was a mostly likable character and while there were some plot holes it was a good read overall. I don't think I'll be buying the companion novel, but I did get the book that was advertised in the back because it's a 'futuristic dystopian population control' book, and it looked good.

December 21, 2015This book sucked me in and I really enjoyed it! So happy I decided to read this when I did. It took me out of my world and placed me in another, which is something I really needed. There wasn't anything about the book that I particularly disliked. It did take me a moment to get adjusted to the POV since I haven't read anything in a while that's told in a similar manner, but only a moment of adjustment needed. Again, really enjoyed it and I can't wait to read more by this author!

I loved this latest read from Rinelle Grey. To begin with I worried that the twin marriage premise was a bit tenuous to create a story, but Grey skilfully works the plot so that every question is answered. The story is fast paced, resulting in a few late nights as I sat up to read just one more chapter. I would love to read more stories set in this world.
