Entertaining futuristic listening 🎶🔰
Jasper T. Scott is a favorite author of mine. The series continues with the humans in dark space are attacked by the aliens 👽 attempting to take control of space. The humans escape from dark space too where a human race is living and the fun begins. I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of space opera adventure novels 👍🔰. 2023 😀👒👻😡

After the climatic ending in book 3 the series starts over again and took a long time for any real interest for me in this book to begin. All the characters, especially Alara and Gina, have regressed in development and there are chances to their personalities. Thanks for the book picks up towards the end.

Wow
When I started thus series I was a bit dubious about it, however it now has me firmly hooked. This book has epic, galaxy spanning fights and amazing action sequences whilst wrapping it up in one hell of a clever story.
Towards the end of this book the sythians are dealt a good blow which actually made me feel good! And then the first 4 books are tied up very nicely.
I can't wait to get onto book 5 now, god knows where else he can go with this now. Brilliant!

Deep read
This book delved into some very interesting and deep subjects that kept me glued to it. Religion, and life after death. I thought the author did a commendable job of breaching those topics in a sci field way. I look forward to more in this series...great story telling, likeable characters, and good attention to detail.

The fourth entry of author Jasper T. Scott’s Dark Space series opens with Master Commander Lenon Donali dropping out of superluminal space, implanting Sythian High Lord Kaon’s identichip into one of his clones, with the High Lord wanting him to assassinate Admiral Hoff Heston, who in the meantime takes relief at no Sythian pursuit, although they know where Dark Space is, and the Gors forgive him for his recent slaughter. One month later, Atton Ortane, in a Nova Fighter, encounters an enemy fleet with his squadron, whilst his father Ethan is about to marry his shipmate Alara.
Riots also break out on many Dark Space worlds, with this civil unrest believed to be a greater threat than the Sythians. Admiral Heston also attempts to have his memories removed via mind probe so that he can resist interrogation by the antagonistic aliens. Atton and his squadron also continue to fight for their lives, with Ethan’s son finding himself ultimately adrift without power. Ethan himself and his new wife further celebrate their honeymoon, during which a takeover of Dark Space by the Sythians occur, and they yearn to use humans for starship labor.
The humans seek salvation in the form of the fabled Avilonians, before which Atton and his fellow pilots, put in stasis aboard the Intrepid, wake early from their suspension. High Lord Shondar of the Sythians wages war against the human fleet and their new allies, with many well-described battles and details on the planet Avilon, especially with regards to the Zenith Tower, and the fourth entry of the Dark Space series is overall a satisfactory read, even with the slight bit of deus ex machina towards the end, and constant shift among various viewpoints.

Wow! This series definitely starts off slow but takes off as each portion of the tale is told. We have seen what the aftermath of a human annihilation would bring. Then the struggle to rebuild humanity and whether or not gods and religion have a place when humanity is quickly wiped out by an unseen Sythian race who first enslaves animal like aliens to slaughter us. Only then to enslave us to fight the new Sythian plan to find the supposed mythical Avilon or as the religious humans call Etheria, and wipe humanity out of the galaxy forever.
Only one knows that Avilon exists and where it lies hidden in the galaxy away from the Sythians. Admiral Heston being exiled from Avilon sends stepson Atton along with his most trusted XO and provides his wife Destra the location. One of the three has already been captured by the enemy and is a mole that leads the Sythians to Avilon also.
Ethan Ortane and Alara are trying to enjoy their honeymoon, when the Sythians begin their invasion of dark space and the Admiral surrenders leaving a small resistance of humans and Gors to wait the help of Avilon. Great Follow-up to Dark Space Books 1 to 3
After reading the first three volumes of Dark Space, I was interested to see where Jasper Scott would take us in this saga. I was not disappointed. While you could jump into the series starting with Book 4, I would suggest reading Volumes 1 to 3 first. A lot of the character development is done there as well as the overarching story line.
Revenge adds some very unexpected twists and takes the reader deeper into the religious and philosophical realm that was started in the first three volumes. There is no shortage of military action or the ongoing relationships that evolve through the isolation of space.
Once again, the author manages to leave the reader with very few (if any) loose ends (except for what the future holds).

My nightmares are now going to be filled with Sythians! They are relentless in their pursuit of killing humans, even though they originated as being human. Humanity is on the brink of annihiliation. But then Atton is sent to find Avilon. A world that Hoff was cast off of. But it is supposed to be a heavenly place where you can live forever. An interesting concept for a place. I could wax on about this concept, along with the perils of finding it, but I think instead I'll start reading the next book in this series to see how things develop. Thanks for keeping me interested and hanging on.

Getting better every time.
Author Jasper T. Scott has done it again.
This series is getting better and better as you keep moving through the books and this the fourth one does not keep it for shame and continues beautifully.
Narration by William Dufris continues with the perfect job of narrating just as he have done with the first three, a perfect narration !!!

A great series
I wasn't sure about this series when I started it but now I don't want to put the down. The twists and turns are unexpected but really add to the story. Anyone who enjoys stories if people struggling and overcoming obstacles will enjoy these books. Now I have to g OK get book 5.

So, I read the first 3 - which were in a set entitled "trilogy". Thought I was done at the end of book 3, but no there was a book 4 - which I have now finished, thinking, again, that I was done, but no, there is a book 5!! Will there be a book 6? I DON'T KNOW!! But, I am really enjoying the series so I'm not really complaining - just surprised. :)

This is the best in the Dark Space series I have yet read. I found that I could not put this book down, but rather I had to continue to the next chapter to find out what happened next, I can't wait for book 5.

New places
I've read a lot of sci-fi over 30 years. This book and series has genuine new ideas. The writing is enjoyable, and I'm very impressed with the author's imagination. I'll be reading more from Jasper Scott.

This series just gets better and better plenty of space battles and twists and turns. The mystery of Avilon is finally revealed. But not until the main characters have been through the ringer a few times. Definitely would recommend this series.

This series doesn't let up. Book four has our characters find the immortals city. The Sythians find the city as well now a battle between the two will bring a war to all. Great pacing and a vivid world make this book entertaining and keeps your attention throughout.

Dark Space: Revenge is an epic adventure in space! I love most of the characters and was stunned by the ending of this episode. The action is awesome and the plot is even better. I’m already prepared to begin book 5.

In Dark Space: Revenge, the Sythians have come to dark space to conquer humanity. Meanwhile, Admiral Heston sends a mission to get help from the Avalonians.
The book got to a very, very slow start. Ethan and Illara's wedding and honeymoon were pretty boring, and they didn't really do anything for a good 2/3 of the book. When I read the first book, I thought Ethan was going to be the protagonist of the series, but he really is just a major letdown. He has zero character growth in this book (ditto with Illara). Meanwhile, Aton is sent on this secret mission to find the Aviloians, but as usual, he gets relegated to the sidelines and some occasional space combat. Captain Caldron continues to be a rather loose cannon and not a particularly good leader, especially in her analytical and decision making. Overall, all of the human characters act incredibly dumb and often can't see the most obvious things in front of them. They also have a tendency to say "rikah...death and glory" every 5 minutes.
The novel continues down the previous course of making things worse, worse, worse, and worst with little hope., but there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
The Sythians continue to do their evil thing, and are rather flat, but at least consistent.
What saves this book is Avilon...it is a rather unique and fascinating take on an ancient society, and their technology is also amazing. When we finally meet them, and when they finally face the Sythians, things aren't quite as predictable as one would have guessed. I just wished they would have appeared earlier in the book and saved the tedium that was the first half of the novel.
Overall, the novel had a good resolution and for once ended on a positive note. Finally the next book might be some serious matches between Avilon and the Sythians... we shall see.

This review is on Dark Space IV: Revenge by Jasper T. Scott. This is the fourth book in the series I have read by this author. It has been a while since I read Book 3.

Everything for the Sythians to finish the war revolves around finding Avilon, the home of Origin for all humans. It is rumored that trillions of humans still live on Avilon and the Sythians want to kill them all. Only a few humans know where Avilon is and Admiral Heston is one of them.
The story continues to unfold as the history of Avilon and its people become known to everyone. The battle for Avilon is intense and many die. At some point in the story you will learn who “Omnius” is and what he has done for the Avilonians, which took me by surprise. It was a plot twist I did not expect.
I give this story four stars because of the interesting characters, the entertaining story, the exciting space battles and the plot twists. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series called Dark Space V: Avilon to see what happens to the characters.

Not my favorite
This was not my favorite in the series. In fact, I had a hard time getting through it. People seemed so far out of character or just plain stupid. First, is Alara a Synthian human? I wouldn't be surprised. She spent the entire book whining, complaining and being a pain. Captain Corbin was all stupid when encountering the Avalonians for the first time. Got people killed with her arrogance and refusal to listen to Atton, who was the one sent to meet and talk with them. Then we get Gina who was a foul mouthed bully through the book. Lastly, even Ethan was completely disrespectful of the people they were asking for help to save the rest of humanity. Those attitudes made absolutely no sense unless you could care less about the millions you are supposed to try to get help saving! So, yeah, all the attitude was out of place if you ask me. Oh and Atton leaving his wingman to fly out of his zone to save a pilot whose wing had already been sheared off? Ummm, no, you tell them to eject and stay with your under heavy fire wingman! Everyone was just so out of character that we had gotten to know and got stupid in the process.

WOW! When I finished Dark Space III I said I was "Blown Away". I just finished Book IV - Revenge and I'm not sure if I've been "Blown-Up, "Blown-Back" or "Blown-Around". Whatever, it was exciting. This book provides a great answer to the "Where are we going?" question but hasn't addressed the "Where did we come from?" question. I'm hoping this will be addressed in the next book in this fantastic series. I hate review's that give away key events so I'll just say I'm very glad how some things turn out. I had hoped for something similar (like maybe someone didn't do what they were asked to do) but since the result was the same, I'm a happy guy.
There are still a few questions I'd like answered like; What happens to the "Bad-Guys"? Are they forgiven because "It really wasn't their fault?" And, "If we are them and they are us...Do they go there too?" Confused? Read the book. You'll be glad you did and also glad there's still more to come.

The series is just not getting it done for me. My first pet peeve - if you are going to use curse words fine, use them. Don't make up words. It sounds silly and I guess tells me the books are written for a less mature audience. If you don't feel comfortable using swears in your writing - simply don't use them.
Genocide, criminal masterminds, undisciplined military, body changing, mind chipping, cloning, immortals, and an AI God complete with his own heaven and hell. This and previous books are all over the place. It's like one of those bubble universes that spring into existence and before it develops the bubble pops. Gone.
Narration is fair though some of the voices are comical and distracting. There are a lot of characters so it is quite a challenge.
Oddly, I'll continue to listen to the series as new books come out just because I've gotten this far. If you've not started the series there are probably better places to go. Avoid the frustration.

Wow! I was amazed by the three first books but this one is simply... OMG!
The plot is so incredible, the twists totally unexpected and the characters are better than ever.
Spoilers Alert!!
Who could have imagined that I would actually cry at Tova's death? Certainly not me! But I did it... and a lot! 'Cause the moment of her death and her last talk with Hoff were truly heartbreaking.
What about Hoff's death? Well, at first, I didn't feel sad so sure I was that Destra had somehow fixed his LifeLink when he had been made prisoner by the Sythians so that he would survive.
But the moment when Destra sees her husband die and the sorrow she feels made me realise that he was dead "for true" and then, I felt a great deal of pain for her loss and for the passing of a complex and very fascinating character!

The plot is so incredible, the twists totally unexpected and the characters are better than ever.

Who could have imagined that I would actually cry at Tova's death? Certainly not me! But I did it... and a lot! 'Cause the moment of her death and her last talk with Hoff were truly heartbreaking.
What about Hoff's death? Well, at first, I didn't feel sad so sure I was that Destra had somehow fixed his LifeLink when he had been made prisoner by the Sythians so that he would survive.
But the moment when Destra sees her husband die and the sorrow she feels made me realise that he was dead "for true" and then, I felt a great deal of pain for her loss and for the passing of a complex and very fascinating character!
But I couldn't help but think he will relive in a way or another... Yeahhh! I was right!!

The return to the Dark Space universe in book 4 revenge. This was the best book in the series so far, a very good story line that continues on from the original trilogy. I have the feeling they have jumped from the frying pan into the fire and I am looking forward to the next book. The characters continue to develop well and the story does not rely on just one main star. That being said, I do like Ethan Ortane. He had a quiet start but came into his own in the 2nd half of the book, reminds me of Han Solo, always my favorite growing up. I recommend this book for all Sci Fi Space opera fans, you don't need to have read the first three books to enjoy this one, but you should as they are very good.

Redeemed
Scott made the right decision in bringing aboard an editor. The proof is in the pudding. What we're left with is a more matured, crisp story that echoes the impact of the first book.
Plenty of action and fun as any Dark Space fan has come to expect, with an ever expanding universe and a promising set up for Book 5—hopefully, the stars will correlate.

Jasper has out done himself with this entry into the Dark Space series. This story line had me chomping at the bit for more. I received an early edition as a beta reader and can say that you will enjoy this once it is officially released.

That's an amazing book. The treatment of the author of the crisis situation, and the way it deals with the relationting between unexpected life prolongation with technology and its limits, and AI, is very intresting.
