I was never one to like labels. Feminism is such a strong word to describe WOMEN who have changed history. Women like Mary Wollstonecraft, the author of "Vindication of the Right of a Woman." This occurred in the 1790s when women weren't looked upon as providers. with 7 children, she was given no choice. Sojourner Truth was raised in a time when slavery was common in America and yet wrong. She was known for "Aint I a woman?" In which I plan to read.
I most admire these 2 women, one of which is Susan B Anthony. I loved her desire to fight for equality. She was raised in a family that believed in equality for all people. Rosa Parks was known for not giving up her seat to a white man. She believed she was just as equal as he was. Women today still fight for equal rights.
I am still curious how the author can consider transgenders to be part of what you call FEMINISM when one was a man prior. These types of people can not be compared to women who have helped change our world. Malala Yousafzai said, " We call upon our SISTERS around the world to be brave to embrace the strength within themselves and realize their full potential. "
Hmmm⁉️ “Amazing & Inspiring Women in History: The Frontline of Feminist Revolution” was an interesting selection of feminist women to feature in this compilation. However, prominent trailblazers, advocates for women’s rights & or the academic, political, social, economical accomplishments of women, how could the late Coretta Scott King, late Astronaut Mae Jemison, late Shirley A. Chisholm, former First Lady’s Michelle Obama or Hillary R. Clinton & poet/activist Amanda C. Gorman just to name a few names that should not have been omitted or at minimum acknowledged. Interesting🧐⁉️
The 3 stars are for the information that is actually in the book. The writing on the other hand is juvenile and pretty demeaning to any adult reader and I'm including anyone over the age of 12.
